Let Me say IMHO Moore is a very complete Guard, and is very good at Pass Protection. What you said is very true, it is easier to replace a RG, than a LG. Brandon Moore is very capable of transitioning to Left Guard.

No, of course I won't say Clarke was better. It would have had more to do with the fact that Moore never played LG, so had they moved him, two positions would be underperforming rather than just one. The fact they didn't even consider using Moore at LG when they had zero capable LGs on the roster reinforces my point, no?

Bent if that were true about quality of LG vs RG why didn't Moore take the LG spot when Clarke was here?!? And if you're going to tell me that Clarke was better I'm going to come find you :)

I think the plan was actually for Kemo to take over at LG in a year or two, because the cost of replacing a RG is a lot cheaper than replacing a LG (unless you downgrade a lot). I don't think Moore would cope as well at LG as Kemo or Faneca because he'd get overpowered and the pocket would collapse. Pass protection is less challenging for a RG. Also, he's an ex-DT so has never played LG.

Fladell reminds me of the Jets trying in free agency to obtain Pittsburgh's OG Kemo, the Monster RG. IMO the Jets are thinking now of replacing Faneca. Next year Alan is cap nuetral. If the Jets can't get an athletic LG, I think the plan is to get a slower footed monster for RG and shift Brandon Moore to LG..

TJBfan,

I totally agree with you (and Tannenbaum for matter). Just piggybacking on Bassett's observation as to why we haven't developed much in the way of offensive lineman.

The trade off to trading up is deapth. Though, I'd rather have the aforemnetioned players: Revis, Jones, Keller, Jenkins, Sanchez, Greene. Kudos to Tanny!

Although Stuckey's not a project offensive lineman, he will be a seventh steal if he becomes our slot receiver. Always knew he had the potential if he could stay on the field.

I'm hoping David Clowney becomes a deep threat leaving a treasure troove of pass interference laudrey and defenders in his wake - like the Bears' Devin Hester.

Speaking of developmental receivers, Brad Smith is done. Package him in a trade to Browns alreay! We need a #1 wide out like Braylon Edwards... butterfingers and all. Or our pedestrian receiver corps will be rolling backwards.

Go Jets!

We have been trading/trading up lately but its been well worth it

just off the top of my head the last 3 drafts we have traded up/traded picks for Revis, Jones, Keller, Jenkins, Sanchez, Greene. The first 4 have already made a huge impact in their short Jet tenure.

The Garner project didnt work out but Stuckey def has for being a 7th round pick that same year. Waivers don't always work out...it was worth a shot. Hopefully however we do get a good project guys for our O-Line since we have a great group to teach them.....same goes for D-Line while we're at it.

I don't think Jets have developed any "project offensive linemen, because we've been trading up a lot lately.

Most "project" offensive linemen are picked up in the later rounds. How's T Nate Garner (Arkansas) doing? Obviously, he can run clock like bulldozer. He led "Run DMc" and Felix Jones.

This year's "project" offensive lineman, G Matt Slauson, looks like he's got a shot at developing, as Callahan coached the kid in Nebraska. He should know what he's getting with the six rounder.

By the way, Brandon Moore was playin D-line before he converted. Let's convert DT Sione Pouha to Offensive Guard and OG Robert Turner to Blocking Tight End... oh yeah, he already is!
