Unlike baseball, where the same predictable teams wind up clinching a spot in the playoffs a month early, football has shown that, year after year, any team can not only make the playoffs, but advance quite far.

So why not the Jets?

To our giants fan, go on another darn site this is for Jet fans.. Please. Lito will be fine and we have Dwight Lowery who has played well.

nickp excellent point we have a good chance to go far especially because Jets have excellent tallent on their team. Historically the Jets have done well with a franchise QB ie. Namath, Vinny, Chad, and now Shanchez.. I have a feeling we will be a factor. Jets are addressing both sides of the ball offense and deffense.

same goes with the Cards last season giants, im pretty sure they were one of the least expected teams to make it to the super bowl. and as bad as it sounds to us Jet fans, no one thought Miami would win the division. to say the Jets have a “zero chance to win the super bowl” after a winning season, is just ignorant..at this time in the NFL anything can happen and anyone can surprise.

and its obvious that ONE person DOES think they can and that’s Drew Coleman.

A giant fan, so i have seen Lito play. He was a real good CB his early years but the giants were able to abuse him the last few years. There is a reason they signed Samuel to such a big contract and had no problems trading Lito. He is a solid player but if picked on could struggle. Maybe he surprises.

As for their “goals,” there isnt 1 player in that locker room who truly believes that the goal for this year is to win a superbowl. The coaches, players, management, and even most optimistic fans know that the jets have zero chance to win the superbowl.

vajet – I’d be amazed if Carroll had improved enough to make it to the field as anything other than a special teamer. He struggles so badly in coverage. Having said that, Cimini did a list of sleepers following minicamp and said this “Rex Ryan likes to put his corners in man-to-man coverage, and that’s Carroll’s specialty.” My reaction was this:

“That scares me. Whenever I’ve seen Carroll in man coverage he’s been burned badly and had to resort to holding – except when he was inexplicably left on an island against Randy Moss in Foxboro and was burned so badly that he wasn’t close enough to him to commit a penalty. It’s a good job Matt Cassel can’t throw the ball over 30 yards with any accuracy (sorry Chiefs fans, didn’t you know this?)”

e star – Sorry, but I’m worried about Lito too. Whether it was injury or demotivation, he’s been pretty poor for the last few years, so there’s no certainty that he’ll be even average. It was a decent trade because they didn’t give up much and the upside of him returning to his previous form is worth the risk, but he hasn’t been any better than Ty Law or Hank Poteat the last few years, so they may not have upgraded at all unless the change of scenery really works out.

has carroll played well enough in minicamp to warrant consideration for the slot or even #2 position? from what i’ve seen from coleman, he has the speed needed to play the slot, and with a stronger pass rush maybe his coverage skills (or lack thereof) wont be highlighted. however, i’d be much more comfortable with lowery in the slot and lito at the #2

Our goal every year as die hard jet fans is obviously to win the super bowl, but realistically this is what I want to see this year:

I want to see promise in our first round draft pick Mark Sanchez. Mark Sanchez’s stock boomed in the weeks before the draft therefore we have high expectations for him. I just wanna see signs that he is going to be our quarterback of the future and hopefully one day bring us that championship that us Jet fans have waited so long for.
