I saw him start on MNF in 1975 versus the Chargers. Ken Shipp benched Joe Namath for breaking curfew. The only Joe was ever benched. The Chargers QB a was very young Dan Fouts. Joe was inserted in the 2nd quarter. The tickets to this game were my birthday present for turning 11.

He lived just blocks from my home in University Place, WA and yet I never knew the man personally. My father and husband remember him. I do feel a sense of loss however as this is just too tragic and shameful incident! A good prosecution is what is really needed; but he’ll probably get off on mental illness. Always remember JJ.

He was before my time, but rest in peace.

In his bio, which was lifted from the 1975 Jets Yearbook, it says he “threw for four TOPs in his 3 pre-season games”. Anyone know what that means? Is it just touchdown passes?
