Just wanted to say whether he is guilty or committed an honest mistake, Brady is guilty of showing no mercy. The Law should be cold and impartial, humans not so much. Brady does make alot of money, if he choose to show him mercy and forgive his debt (after court) it would have been a nice story. If he made him work for the 8k, and then had paid him the money as a surprise he would’ve been considered a great man. Instead he comes off much like the Law, cold.

what actually happened is the planters where behind the garage and not on the curb. so this thief in question went in the yard behind the garage and took the planters .
why should it be tom brady’s fault cause this guy stole from him .
and there is no way he did not know they where new .
so come on with the comments cause if some one stole from you , you would be all upset

Corey- you are an idiot and a jerk for not doing any real reporting- you basically covered the Inside track which is the equivalent of the dirty page six folks-they aren’t even real reporters- but i guess every a$$ can have an opinion-

As for TB, why don’t you report that his house has been broken into once and several attempts in Boston- to which he has never been reimbursed- His boston house has security cameras because of the attempts but the damages incurred has always been a hit to Brady-

Now if this retired crook really made an honest mistake, why wasn’t he truthful when he was questioned by the police…By the way, they weren’t contacted directly by Brady, and then the jailbird indictated that it wasn’t him? Lemme guess just forgor that he did it…you know, so down on his luck, right? NOT!

Another failure of yours was to mention that the items were 8000 of which he was only suppose to reimburse 1/2- the other 1/2 would be a loss to Brady himself. The crook opted to stay out of jail in lieu of attempting to pay him back and you know, do the right thing.

On top of that they were in brand new boxes with papers- and he decided to rip him off anyway- YOU ARE A JERK FOR REPORTING SUCH ONESIDED BALONEY AND SHOULD FIND A NEW JOB since fact finding doesn’t seem to go along with your idea of writing.

Whether someone steals $20 or a pile of pressure treated lumber left outside a doorstep, it’s a crime. It doesn’t matter if the victim earns 30mil or 30 thousand. This guy commited a crime, period. He is an “ex-con” for a reason. He’s done stuff like this before. He obviously didn’t learn form his previous convictions. Chances are, the judge passed on this punishment even if Brady’s attorneys pleaded otherwise.
Your article clearly makes this crook a “victim” ….

This article makes us Jets fans look like a bunch of hating fools. People across the US already think New Yorkers are morons. I can see why. This reminds me of when Brady’s knee was busted up, so many people in NY were happy. I was completely embarrassed by that response. I was almost happy when the Pats beat us right after that. We got what we deserved. Now 2009 is a new year. This year we New Yorkers won’t behave like fools and the bad kharma will be gone and the Jets will take the division, followed by Miami and Buffalo. Go T.O. beat the Pats.

Stupidest article I have ever read. The guy was an X-
con. A Bank Robber no less. “Claims” he “found” them in the garbage. I would assume the flower boxes were still in the shipping cartons with Brady’s name and address on them. They didn’t just magically unwrap themselves. So now he is panhandling? WTF not get a job? Probably because he has spent his entire life stealing from others and thinks working is for fools like us. Pats suck, Jets rule, but this article REALLY sucks and is written by a fool who is looking for any excuse to hate. Pathetic.

I would tend to agree with most of the posters if in fact Paiva really stole the merchandise. Did he break into Brady’s home? No. Did he forcibly remove the items from the property (like intentionally pull off $5 Street #’s)? No. Did he take something that is usually outside (like a parked car that can be hot wired)? No. The planters were sitting by the trash. Do you really think that if the planters were not by the trash that Brady’s PR team would not have brought that up to make the suit justifiable? And them saying that Brady did not know, well doesn’t it take weeks or months to go thru the court system to get a settlement. And don’t legal court documents have to eventually be signed by Brady himself? I just do not believe that Brady did not know. Brady could have come out and set up a better payment plan for Paiva than the court induced amount. In fact, I am sure that Brady could have thought of some other way for Paiva to pay back the full amount. He could also have reduced the amount under the circumstances. Who is really to blame? The delivery company. If I order something from a company (especially at $8000), you would think that a signature would be required before the delivery is accepted. Why didn’t the legal team go after the delivery company for restitution? Ask yourself this, would you leave items worth $8000 sitting out by your trash? I sure would not. That would be like waving money in the air as you are walking down a gangster infested neighborhood. The outcome is only evident. On the other hand, if Paiva really did steal the planters, then he needs to be punished by the justice system.
