Considering the Ravens got Gaither in the sup. draft last year does anyone think the Jets will make a play for one of these defensive players in this years?

Kroul was one of the post-draft undrafted free agent pick-ups.

He went to Iowa (like Shonn Greene), played defensive tackle (50 starts) but would probably fit best as a defensive end on an NFL team with a 3 man front and may need to bulk up to do so.

That, coupled with what I said above, is probably all you need to know. Complete longshot, that probably nobody would have ever mentioned if Bassett didn't link to an article about him this morning.

Sorry for being slow, but, ummmm, who is Matt Kroul?

What does he play? What's the skinny here?

Since the press has been focusing on Franchez and the fans have been busy yowling for a big-money stud WR who won't like how few balls come his way, this fellow Matt Kroul has seemingly slipped through the cracks.

Any info on him for the rest of us who've long ago stopped reading Frachez/WR stories?

I don't think he'd still be with the team if he didn't. I know a lot of guys in camp are just considered "warm bodies" but they must see some potential in him, surely. He was a four year starter (so has durability and is less likely to be raw techincally) and was voted 2nd team all Big Ten by the media and honorable mention by the coaches and can play on the line.

Having said that, I haven't heard much buzz about him, so he probably is a long-shot. Those are the guys that often end up on the Taxi Squad though.
