Lito Sheppard Transcript: 8/2/09

By Rich Forestano on 02. Aug, 2009

Brought to you by the Jets PR Staff, here’s Lito Sheppard’s transcript from Sunday:
On Rex Ryan’s training camp…

I love it to tell you the truth. There is definitely emphasis on your legs. It’s definitely hard work. I think that (he is doing) a lot better (job) preparing us and not killing us.

On “trash talking” during practice…

We are all getting more and more comfortable with each other. Once we get that down completely we can definitely start putting it on the running backs and the (rest of the) offense. The way it should be.

On former Philadelphia defensive coordinator Jim Johnson’s passing…

That’s a tough situation. Coach Johnson has touched so many players’ lives in this league, not just myself. And his legacy speaks for itself. He’s been coaching more than half of his life and his reputation and legacy is one of the top ever to be a part of this league. (He made me a better player) especially playing under his system as a young guy. Being a young corner is difficult in itself, but his patience with me and his coaching style allowed me to get the mental toughness and kept me prepared to become a player in this league.

The CB’s will be a big part of the defenses success this season.
If Sheppard can return to something close to his pro bowl days, it will let Ryan freely do his blitzing schemes.
