The media needs to relax….One thing that the media doesn’t harp on is the fact that he was the A.H.T.C. all offseason. Why? To get better… mentally and physically. It is easy not to make an impact when you don’t have the proper development (teaching) from the coaching staff. I (for one) believe this staff will get it right and put him in position to make plays. Therefore I have two questions for the naysayers:
1) If Belicheck would have drafted him (which he wanted to) would he have made an impact?
2) When he does make an impact this year will the media apologize for the “bust” label?

I still believe he is learning the game. In the nfl you need to learn fast but you must use everything to help you move forward. By holding him under expectations and throwing him under the bus only puts a negative cloud over him. How do we know that he is not meeting expectations? For all we know he is at the right speed and at the right place right now to play the game. Who cares what fans and other players have to say.

Gholston is fine. He needs for everyone to stop looking at him through a small window where his success is measured and compared to that of other players or even his playing time. He is progressing each day. He is given a chance to develop but with the NY media and the NY fan impatience its impossible to see the growth of the guy. Just imagine what it would be like to see him without looking at him with so much pressure and expectations. Fans want to see the finished product this YEAR or this DAY. Well you might get what you wished for because the NY media will make this guy grow everyday older and older. Pretty soon he will have white hairs and won’t have grown at all. This is why I wish Mangini or someone who sees the real value in him to take him and TEACH him what he needs to make himself better.

He’ll be a flashy but inconsistent contributor this year, but he’ll at least gets his name out there.

This guy just needs time. 2010 should be his “get it together” year, it’s how it is for most players drafted where he was.

Again its the same questions that came out when he was in the draft. There is no question about his superior athleticism.

Maybe if he doesnt become a great OLB. Could he be a DE?? I mean he lacks the bulk, but he has all the other tools.

I hope Ryan can make something out of him

This was the fear of VG coming out of college. Plus the coaches said the same thing before camp started. He has superior strength and speed but he has yet to translate to the field.

He can lift the weight room but cant move a tackle or gaurd. He will play better this year but he will continue to make mistakes until he understands what he is doing. He hesitates becasue he dosent know.

If it weren’t for the $19m cap hit that would arise, the fact Mangini obviously wouldn’t want him and the fact that for all we know he might be a better player than Edwards in a couple of years time, that would be a great idea.
