The Everything Mark Sanchez Thread
Obviously a ton of the postgame coverage revolved about Mark Sanchez’s one-series night. I’ve rounded up as much of the coverage as I could find so you guys can read it all in one place.
- Bob Glauber of Newsday: Sanchez wastes no time
- Rod Boone of Newsday: Sanchez dazzles
- Mark Cannizzaro of NY Post: Sanchez sparkles
- Steve Serby of NY Post: Rex’s choice is easy
- Rich Cimini of NY Daily News : Sanchez passes test
- Jane McManus of Journal News: Sanchez impressive
- J.P. Pelzman of The Record: Wow! Sanchez on mark
- Josh Robinson of NY Times: Sanchez delivers
- Adam Greenbaum of HolyJoeNamath.com: Sanchez magical
- Dan Graziano of AOL Sports: One heck of a start
- Dennis Waszak Jr. of AP: Sanchez sparkles in debut
Do you think the press at the game drew straws to ration out positive adjectives for their headlines?
If you’ve got more out there, e-mail me at TJBWeekends@gmail.com and I’ll update the post.

I said before, don’t think That Clemmens should even be on the team but we all have our Opinions.

Thing I liked most about the first play of Sanchez’s career was the way he came out. Very Pennington like with enthusiasm and confidence. Doesn’t look the least bit nervous or apprehensive out there. He’s got the so-called “intangibles” that we so often here about that KC seems to lack.

Nice Bent. The Gary Myers one was priceless.
How about: Tom Brady healthier as Sanchez’s Jets are knocked out of regular season contention
Now that’s a Florio-certified title!
-
Bent, how could you leave out this priceless gem from this morning’s interview with Brett Favre in the Mississippi Retiree’s Pennysaver:
Judging from last night, it looks like Sanchez has been spending the summer practicing with teammates and learning the playbook, what a loser!

Well, what a surprise, one series and everyone’s on the Sanchez bandwagon. I love the kid too, but I wish everyone wouldn’t anoint him right this second.

As I had mentioned in a previous post, it is funny how the plays for Clemens are always vanilla and then Ratliff or Sanchez takes the field and the first play is a bomb.
I am all for Sanchez becoming our star but, how can Clemens have a shot at winning the QB competition, if he is throwing short slants and Sanchez is throwing it down the field.
-
Harvlis,its called trust and understanding.
-
Harvlis…
Eliminate the bomb out of his drive and Sanchez still looked more impressive. The zip on that pass to keller is what allowed keller to turn around quickly and move up field. Hes just a better QB… enough already… its over… you can let go of Clemens now. This isn’t even a bandwagon issue anymore, everyone is seeing them play and Sanchez literally looks like the better QB. Period.

Let’s all calm down. Browning Nagle looked good in his first preseason, and his first regular season game, too. But it was all downhill from there.
-
Sanchez looked great – let’s maybe temper our expectations but also not allow Browning Nagle’s preseason success in preseason to detract from our analysis!!!
-
- I like how Sanchez looked in his 3 passes and all but I’m not gonna start foaming at the mouth just yet. The way I see it is — What would you rather…
A – Start Clemens week 1 and bring Sanchez in when he plays poorly allowing Mark to see some of the defenses and learn a bit more or
B – Start Sanchez and if he plays poorly take him out and virtually shatter his confidence.
My theory is once hes the starter. Management shouldn’t look back. I think Clemens played as well as Mark did.
I think it was a tie in performance.

Dmazz, IMO. If Sanchez can’t start for this team as it is. Then he’ll never be ready. Stafford in Detroit I understand.

I still think that Rex should wait until after the third game to make a decision because what happens if he doesn’t fair well against a tough Ravens defense? Using three games as a barometer is much better, if one is good and then the other is bad, the quarterback has a chance to redeem himself in that third game. If he doesn’t, then you know which quarterback to go with. It’s like a rubber game in a baseball series, after a series is tied at one game a piece.
