It looks like the Jets are shutting down rookie RB Shonn Greene for the rest of the preseason games.
Greene, a third-round pick out of Iowa, said he was injured on his first carry against the Ravens when he fell on the ball and then several defenders fell on him. He said he didn’t feel the injury right away but after the game he had trouble breathing.
“We’re being conservative,” said Ryan. “I don’t think he’ll play in the preseason.”
For Greene, the frustration is mounting. He injured his right ankle early in camp and was just recovering.
Ryan is erring on the side of caution, and I don’t fault him for that. These games don’t matter, and this is probably why the team just signed RB Anthony Kimble. This is a perfect example of why keeping Thomas Jones makes sense. Look at the Giants’ struggles to keep their ballcarriers healthy and that’s all one need know about why a team can never have too many RBs … especially cheap and good ones.

BOOM BOOM POW, baby. BOOM BOOM POW.

Lets just hope we don’t have another Tim Biakabutuka on our hands….

I read that Clowny is finally working with the 1′s. Can anybody confirm??
-
he’s splitting time with stuckey according to TJB

Nick
It’ was in Ryan’s presser. So it’s true.
-
I just heard on SNY that Clowney is working with the first team.

Greene will Ok and be an asset to our team. What do we do with Caulcrick?
-
I think Caulcrick will not make the team. Greene is a similar back, and we have all-pro FB in Richardson. There are 4 capable RB’s/FB’s already on the roster, I don’t see him making the cut.

Was at practice today- the facilities are great, so much more open than Hofstra, more freedom to walk around to the fields and see the players u want to see close up.
Cant say I really saw Clowney with the ones too much today, maybe just one or two plays stick out, but no significant play was made.
The story of the day was Sanchez and Cotchery were great today. Sanchez first hit Cotchery for a nice 25 yard gain, then for 2 consecutive TD passes in like redzone work. There was a lot of 7 on 7′s, think some of these plays were made during that.
Other Highlight was Wayne Hunter catching 2 passes in a row. Sadly, he might be our 2nd best TE.

Brad,
I was at practice today as well, and yeah there was only a few plays he was with the ones. He did play more with Kellen, but as you saw and heard from the crowd Kellen sucked. I stopped counting but it looked like out of 11 passes KC only connected with 1. -

not like he’s actually here for any reason

Good, maybe they can get Woodhead out there some more now. Hell, even the coach believes he has the best hands out of the backfield if not the entire team at this point.
Combine his speed with his hands and you have a posession reciever in my mind.

Well there you have it.. Greene couldn’t handle the nfl level in a preseason game. Makes you wonder why did we go through all the trouble to trade up for him. He certainly was not worth giving up three players for. He is not a sledgehammer that we all envisioned. he is not even mentioned in the idea of a franchise runningback or can overtake jones. He is going to have a REALLY tough time this year. First huge mistake this year by Tannenbaum in the draft. Lets move on to the “golden boy”. I doubt he will grow from game one. After giving up five players in the draft for him he better be worth it ( all fifty million). He better!!!

deceit,
How can Woodhead make the roster this year? Greene is not out indefinitely (according to tannenbaum and his business) and leon and jones still want to carry the first team reps. Woodhead couldn’t elude David Harris in practice who is still recovering from injuries from last year. Groin tears, broken ankles, and broken teeth don’t go away in less than a year. Its a nice story but he hasn’t distinguished himself this year in camp or in the preaseason games.

Dude Greene was hampered by his ankle all of last year an still ran for over 1800 yards..imagine if he’d have been healthy all year. This rib injury if I know Shonne is killing him. They had to pry him out of practice when he hurt his ankle. I know he is chomping at the bit to get back even if his ribs are sore.

Well that explains why he didn’t play so much.
But the kid doesn’t have to do so much, we still have TJ and Leon ahead of him,
