Here’s some of the cuts right now that might (or more likely, might not) interest the Jets as teams trim their rosters for the season:
CB Corey Ivy — Was cut by the Browns. The thought was that his price was too high for the Jets, and he looked elsewhere. They signed Donald Strickland instead, but Ivy still might be a better player than Drew Coleman.
DE Marcus Howard — The Colts cut Howard, who was a mildly productive player for the Colts as a rookie last year with 1.5 sacks, 3 QB pressures … not bad for a fifth rounder. He might be a project for the Jets to move into a linebacker role (ILB), as he’s a 6-0 237 pound DE (Tampa 2 scheme) player.
DL/FB/TE Dan Klecko — New England is looking for a fullback, but the Jets just knocked their backup off the roster in favor of Woodhead. The team has cut Kareem Brown already, so you’d think this isn’t something they want to add back to the team. Klecko’s versatility of playing blocker, pass-catcher, defensive sub, and special teams could be tempting. Could the Jets make a spot for the son of the former Jet great? Still, they’ve never really been all that interested in going after him when he’s available..
WR Giants — After the long expected cutting of David Tyree, the Giants still have an embarrassment of riches at WR. They can’t hold onto them all much longer, but the Giants look to be hoarding receivers right now (Moss, Barden, Nicks, Hixon, Smith, Manningham, Hagan) so could the Jets make a play for one of them?
WR Reggie Brown — Although not yet cut by the Eagles, he might be soon. The Jets were sniffing around the Eagles a few weeks ago for receivers, is Brown someone they are interested in? (No.)

what does drew coleman do besides get burned all the time? why not take a chance on ivy? he cannot be worse than coleman
-
In 2007, Corey Ivy was definitely worse than Drew Coleman.
-
I would add the recentley released Leonard Pope – TE from Ari. to that list as well… That kid still has a lot of upside…
-
LI Dave
i liked pope a lot coming out of college. he’s like 6’8 and would be a great target for sanchez in the red zone. tanny should definitely take a look
-
I can see going after Klecko. Remember no regime in the Jets recent past has been this enamoured with past Jets greats and links to old glory (however faded it may be). Rex would make old Joe proud.
-
what about the punter that the titans jus released?
-
Lets do that 6th for Manningham.
But why is Reggie Brown the Odd man out? -
Howard would play OLB. He’s a monster pass rusher. If people don’t know him, think back to the Georgia/Hawaii game.

Sorry guys, unlike the jets, the Giants know talent when they see it. You can forget about getting Manningham. He’s a superstar in the making. Much the same with Nicks. Barden s more of an experiement so the Giants aint letting him go nless e really tanks.
I should hope that Tanning-Bum is smart enough not to try and do anything with Sinorice Moss.
Let’s keep an eye out for a WR.

I think Howard would be a good pickup. But is he a 3-4 guy?
-
Shocker: Brian Brohm
When we moved up for Keller, I thought we were going for Brohm. Should we pick him up now and hope he can reach his potential?
-
As a UCLA fan I’m biased here, but we need to get on the Steelers dropping Bruce Davis, regardless of our depth at LB
-
Bears drop rookie TE Bear Pascoe… Dudes got high potential as a blocker
-
Tim Crowder 6’4 275 DE , former 2nd round pick for the Broncos
-
Tim Crowder 6′4 275 DE now thats a move we should make
-
Manningham. i give up a 4th or 5th for him
-
tim crowder, eric green, and/or ronald curry
-
Justin Miller was cut by the Raiders….just saying guys just saying
-
oh and the one thing about Leonard Pope is that he was cut but they kept Anthony Becht on the team…..just something that doesn’t feel right about wanting a TE that couldnt make roster while Becht did(I know its not clear cut and theres many reasons but still!)
-
we must must must pick up justin miller!! People are forgetting that as a kick returner he was just as good as leon and he made the pro bowl too. Last year after he left to Oakland in week 11 he had 2 tds! If leon is gonna play more on offense then we should have another return man especialy if he is more than starting caliber!

Klecko, son of Klecko and Justin Miller might be worth looking at. Titans punter released was named A J Trapasso. He hit the Dallas scoreboard and also ran for a first down on a fake punt. He should get an audition too.

Klecko is an amazing story – the guy has 4 SB rings, and has pretty much been a journeyman all his career. Every year he appears to be in the “unwanted” category, but he always lands on his feet. How many other players with 4 rings would you know practically nothing about?

I would send a 6th or 7th round pick for Manningham. Moss, not so much.
