Roster Update: More Cuts Announced

by Bent on September 5th, 2009 at 11:52 am

In addition to the three names announced yesterday and Jehuu Caulcrick, which was leaked earlier (see below), the Jets have announced a few more cuts…

- TE Kareem Brown
- G Stanley Daniels
- WR Britt Davis
- T Ryan McKee
- RB Anthony Kimble

No real big surprises there, although with Brown gone the Jets may be scouring the waiver wire unless they are content to use Dearth and the Wild Pigs as cover at TE. I believe all five are practice squad eligible.

I think there’s still 11 to come, so watch this space.

Not fair to Kareem, who looked good last year on D.

Daniels might end up on the Taxi squad.

  2. avatar AKA...Drew says:

No suprises here…. Britt Davis went from training camp star to ….um ….cut!

Dag, I just KNEW that Kareem Brown experiment was going to revolutionize football rosters. I was waiting for the Jets to get credit for creating the DTE position. Too bad.

And what ever happened to Britt “The future of our WR corp.” Davis?

Sometimes I feel like the Jets are wasting my news perusing time.

I do hope they try to develop Kimble. He could turn out to be a nice RB.

11 to go, we have cut primarily on the offensive side of the ball… So guys that should be cut…
    1. McKaskill OG
    2.Parenton Center
    3 . Christopher FB
    4. Potter DE
    5. Steinkuler DE
    6. Izzo Old Man , please
    7. Barksdale CB
    8.Cook, Safety
    9. Cole or Coleman CB
    10. Matt Kroul NT/De
    11. Kracilick OT

  5. avatar Doug says:

sad story for Kareem Brown. Oh well…

  6. avatar Bent says:

Typically any veteran cuts or well known names would already have been announced, so I predict that Orange’s list will be more or less pretty accurate, except Coleman will beat out Cole and Izzo will make it ahead of Renkart or Cummings (probably Renkart).

This isn’t for definite, but based on previous years, that’s the way they tend to do things.

Please be wrong on the fossil… Depending on the CBA , Coleman could be a free agent next year, IMO Cole could have a higher upside as a CB, it may be time to cut the cord on Coleman…
IN both The Izzo and Coleman scenarios , Westoff will have a big say…

  8. avatar Brett Justin says:

i was hoping we could keep kroul…feel like he would e good in this system

  9. avatar marac43 says:

Matt Kroul will either get picked up by someone or be on our Practice Squad. He showed some nice understanding of the game and made a couple of plays when given the chance. He is probably better suited for a true 4-3 defense like Indy’s..

  10. avatar igs says:

I’m happy that Pitouitua, Westerman, and Woodhead are staying on. That’s quality.

  11. avatar igs says:

    Also, sign Matt Jones.

  12. avatar EastSide says:

Anyone know how Slauson’s been doing? Only time his name came up this offseason was in a holding penalty against the Eagles if I recall correctly.

Britt Davis is definitely a strong PS candidate. WR seems to be one of the hardest positions in terms of college to pro transition and I imagine they want to develop him.

    igs,
Glad to see there’s another Pitoitua fan on this blog. I can’t believe Ryan doesn’t see shades of Ngata in that kid.

  13. avatar david harris says:

yea matt jones could be a real help at WR, or someone from Philly…

  14. avatar Reprocity says:

Brown did not get a fair chance. He never made a bad play… had a couple of catches but I never seen him drop the ball esp the way simmons did who IMHO was given a lot more oppertunity. I hope Brown comes back. I still like the idea of trying to bring back Posiac(sp)

  15. avatar Doctor K says:

    Eastside,
I like Ropati’s upside as well although comparing to Ngata is a bit premature. ‘Pati would have to learn some serious technique and weight to be in the same class as Ngata. Besides Haloti is best suited as an inside DT.
I see Pitoitua as a disruptive pass blocker on the end of the 3-4 package and stonewalling RBs after sealing off the edge.

  16. avatar Brett Justin says:

^^^ i really like Ropati as well he has a huge guy i think hes 6’8 and he played wel enough in my opinion and also in this system could be used very well…

  17. avatar Kirk says:

i love pitoitua..he has been a pleasant surprise and looks like he has a lot of upside

  18. avatar EastSide says:

    Doctor K,
No, I’m not comparing the two at all. I’m saying that when a coach like Ryan looks at a player who has massive size and the athleticism to both rush the passer and bat passes at the line, from a scouting standpoint he’s going to see a kid he can do a lot with. I mentioned Ngata because like Pitoitua he is Polynesian and I imagine Ryan would like to develop the latter into a versatile force like the former.

  19. avatar Green Lantern says:

All I have to say is 2010 New York Sports will be back…
Knicks would of gone through that amazing 2010 Free Agent Class..
This Offseason is full of great Fast Tall Receivers available for The Jets.
The Mets would of hopefully got through all of their injury woes and gotten another Pitcher…
Im Excited. But this season for The Jets looks promising. Lets Goooo!!!

  20. avatar MEL31602 says:

According to Adam Schefter Dan Klecko got cut… maybe the Jets could sign him as a FB

  21. avatar david i says:

    I’m a huge Pitoitua fan!!!!!!!!!

  22. avatar AKA Jack says:

annnnd…. the final cuts are in. Woodhead made it.

  23. avatar mole57 says:

I heard that Kenwin Cummins was cut.

  24. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Yep, he was.
