PFT has some quotes from Randy Moss talking about facing the Jets. Moss was respectful, and seems to relish the game this weekend against Rex and the rest of the Jets.
Asked Monday night about facing off against the Jets, New England wide receiver Randy Moss said, “I can remember Coach Ryan talking about he ain’t coming to kiss no rings so I think it’s gonna be a big game. . . . I think we have our work cut out for us. The Jets defense has really picked up, they got that rookie quarterback in [Mark Sanchez] so it’s gonna be a barnburner.”
Moss said he has no issue with Ryan’s comments.
“I’ve always been a fan of the Ryan brothers,” he said. “I was in Oakland with Rob [now the defensive coordinator in Cleveland] and I played a couple times [against] Rex in Baltimore and I met old Buddy so I think that [Rex] really meant what he said and I think that he has a really good team backing him.”

We know the “kiss the ring” hype was coming.
So if we put revis on Moss what do we do with Welker?
-
Smack him around like a little sissy.
-
Definitely gained some respect for Randy with this one…
-
hey guys not for nothin but i occasionally visit our enenmies website patspulpit.com just to get a feeling of where there at and what there saying and i just looked at there game thread from last night and get this. 1057 posts. friggin unbelievable. i say we try to break 1000 at some point this year on our own game thread. remember we have to beat them on all four phases….ugh! ( forget i said that! )
-
I want to see this Jets D unleashed on the Pats. Brady looked as nimble as a marble statue last night. I started salivating when I saw that the Bills were getting to him.
I hope my feeling about this team is correct. We’re finding out what they are made of this weekend.
Also, the Eagles released Hank Baskett.
-
Just so we know, Brady had a shaky first half getting reacquainted with the speed of the game and the Pats yardage-wise absolutely trounced the Bills. They just couldn’t capitalize. So while I definitely think we’re better than the Bills, it really wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Definitely have to keep the pressure on Brady though. We can’t commit too many people to the bliz though or he’ll destroy us on checkdowns and Welker. And one difference from the Bills game opposed to ours is that they purposely played back to take away TO and Evans, and we certainly don’t have the same outside threats.
-
when did randy become such a wuss???
-
….wuss? I consider that a class act
-
We have a good chance to get to Brady from the looks of last nights game. But he will look to get rid of it really fast which is Welkers game. This may be tough covering these weapons. So does Revis stick on Moss or Welker?
-
Stick Revis on Moss and stick Lowery/Lito on Welker
-
JETS BY AT LEAST 10 SUNDAY NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, lose your minds up in those stands. No doubt, no mercy, no letting up, and the home losing streak against those queers ends.
-
WOW a philly jets fan who would’ve thunk it !
WERE NATIONWIDE BABY J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
-
I personally think Brady is playing with a torn rotator cuff. His throws were off last night, something we didn’t see in the preseason. So it’s not just rust.
He’s still dangerous. But I think that shoulder is injured.
-
we need to hit brady early and often next sunday. get him looking at the rush, make them run the ball. our secondary is gonna have to step up and not allow those short passes to work against us. the key will be covering long enough to let our guys get to brady. i’d love to completely dominate these guys, and i think we will easily control both lines of scrimmage.
by the way, has anyone seen the new sanchez toyota commercial. its awesome!
-
Did you guys catch Jonas Schwartz, the host of Daily News Live….. The guy sounds like a P@$$Y. Really he does. Man for the record it wouldnt matter if the Patsies walked in here sunday as 1-0, 8-0, or 15-0. Either way there gonna feel it. Wheres the other guy that used to host that DNL show anyway. Jonas looks dorky!
Now on to the game. Rex will have Brady running all over the field. He’s coming and will be bringing it from all angles. I hope were planning for 3 step drops, b/c between that screens and bubble screens, thats all he’s gonna have time for. Overload one side and double Welker in the slot. Brady wont have time to hit Moss deep b/c he’s gonna be on his back. Ryan knows how to play Brady and come 4:30 sunday evening the Jets will be on top of this division.
-
Put Revis on Moss & jam Welker at the line. If the Bills can panic Brady buy getting in his face (1st half) then we can too. Brady didn’t gain his feet until Bills went to the prevent. Give any good QB time to survey the field with no pressure and he’ll pick you apart. – Put him on his butt early and often and he’ll turn it over.
-
Brady and the Pats are nervous of the way this defense played on Sunday. Now they lost Mayo, so lets put some Whipass on them.
-
The Giants gave the blueprint on how to beat the Pats. Like everyone has been saying, we have to put a helmet on Brady every play. Make him pay for all the dump offs against the blitz.
The thing we have going for us now is we have a coach who relishes the challenge of trying to shut down a high powered offense. Remember when the Pats went 18-1 Baltimore gave them fits and if it wasnt for some touchy calls the Pats would have walked out of there with a big fat “L”.
We are gonna have to play well to come out with a “W” on Sunday but it is so refreshing to know 100% that we have a coach in Rex who is going to come up with something to make life miserable for the Pats offense.
-
Anyone Know of any tickets that are available for sunday?
-
Rex is giving all of the Jet fans and former players that were all part of the team, thats something that bum Mangini never did.
-
stub hub dude and the jets website got something on it
-
Tickets will be going for close to the price the Jets are charging for the new stadium next year.
-
“Remember when the Pats went 18-1 Baltimore gave them fits and if it wasnt for some touchy calls the Pats would have walked out of there with a big fat “L”.”
opps!
“Baltimore’s lack of discipline, which resulted in 13 penalties for a loss of 100 yards, did not help in their attempt to derail the undefeated Patriots. Ravens linebacker Bart Scott suffered a meltdown after the Patriots scored with a minute left in the game, drawing two unsportsmanlike penalties. The 30 yards enforced on the ensuing kickoff hurt Baltimore’s last chance to tie.”
-
I have a really hard time saying this but i have a lot of respect now for randy moss. He shows he’s a class act.
As for the pats this weekend….they’re gonna need a lot of classes to be able to beat our boys! Sean Ellis = 2 sacks Gholston = 1
Brady = Gettin a major hurtin by Bart ScottGo J E T S JETS JETS JETS~~~
-
ill be at the game on sunday…we gotta get LOUD!!! all game and not only when fireman ed decides to do something and make it hard for the pats offense…so sick of the pats coming to the meadowlands and always beating us plus if we win it will make the traffic on the way home a little more tolerable
-
Just curious, what will you say next Monday if the Patriots do beat the Jets like a rented mule?
-
gojetsgo,
hence the term “touchy calls”. I watched that whole game and it was all over ESPN and sports radio the next day how the the Ravens got the shaft by the refs. The Bart Scott meltdown was refering to the BS Pass int call when he picked up the flag and kicked it and then threw it into the stands. You as a Jet fan should know the New England gets EVERY call… Regardless the Pats offense had the most trouble that year with the Giants and the Rex led Raven defense -
I won’t make to the game this weekend, ill be at the Tennessee game the following weekend, but ill be watching it on T.V. I want to see all you fans that are going to the game getting loud and disrupting the pats.
-
Cant wait til Sunday gnna b fun
-
Ill also b at the tennesee game
-
Its over for the Pats. Look out Brady here comes Harris, Gholston and Scott
-
i have a feeling the pats will put up a fight but ultimatley lose.
-
if we can countain Brady in shotgun, we will spank them into another reallity.
i hope we fugure out what to do with Welker. he’s so slippery you cant get a solid hit on the dude. hit Moss one time and he chumps up. he and T.O hate to get hit.
-
Well Zartan Moss and Owens have been playing for over 10yrs and have taken their fair share of hits. Like ol’ Marvin Harrison, as long as you catch the ball who cares if you go limp when a defender hits you?
Plus they are lanky receivers, the taller they are the harder they fall. Welker is smaller and built almost like a halfback, making it easier to move around and avoid big hits
-
I’ll be the guy at the game standing up for all 60 minutes being as loud as I can. I expect the rest from everyone else.
Pats – Jets
Home opener
Inroducing Rex and Sanchezthis game should have the meadowlands rocking like never before.
Dont disappoint me Jet fans
-
I think Revis will do a good job against Moss, but its hard for me to be confident with Lito on Welker. Hopefully we can make Brady feel uncoftroable because he still doesn’t look like his old self just yet.
-
This is the type of game Brady LOVES to play! We are facing a wounded animal. The patriots offense expects us to play aggressive. They won’t turn over for us like Houston. Rex better stick to a base 3-4 d the entire game and hope that Sanchez secures the ball all game! Not for the some time and give up a pick six. Sanchez will need to use all the plays he knows and depend on everyone else on offense to get through that patriots defense. Remember their front four or three is still a handful for our offensive line. I think schottenheimer is ready though since he has a short leash on Sanchez. In this game we need the defense to step up like never before.
-
Revis will be on moss…Look for Lowery to play welker. Hes a better defender against slot receivers.
-
Im making a sign that reads “Get Loud, The Time is Now”
And i swear if i still have a voice come monday morning im going to be pissed at myself. My tailgate partners who never mind going in a few minutes after the game starts have sided with me. We will be in our seats and ready to scream at 12:45.
About the comments. I like them. Classy Moss. When is his contract up by the way?
-
I am worried about Welker more than Moss. Randy will give them 6 points possibly. Welker gives them 150 yards and some first downs. If we cant stop him.
My own brother is a Pats fan, he lives two hours away but we both know that is to close sunday.LOL. I do not want to put up with his or others crap Monday morning .Stop Welker and Moss!!
-
Stopping Welker is the key, the Jets will shut down the WR’s and the running game. The Jets D is going to be all over Brady. One other key to winning, keep Brady on the sidelines, the Jets need to run, run, run out the clock. Our O line should be able to do that the N.E. defense is not what it used to be. If I were a guessing man I’d say Jets 24 N.E. 17 Brady sacked 4 times and hurried 10 times. Stop Welker.
-
Wow! Moss froze me on that one. Yet, like he said, he knows the Ryan’s and seems to share their talk hard, play hard persona.
Go Jets!
-
jerrod mayo out 6-8 weeks. I guess the ? is si if he’ll be avaliable for when we go to N.E.?

NFL Coach Approval Ratings – Week 1
http://espn.go.com/nfl/sportsnation/ratings
Rex Ryan 91% approval rating
This NFL season, we’re giving you, SportsNation, the opportunity to cast your vote of approval, or disapproval, of the job your favorite team’s head coach is doing. Is he molding a winning team and inspiring championship-level play from his team? Or is he constantly tinkering with the offense and defense resulting in sloppy, erratic play? Is he making good decisions on the field and saying all the right things off the field? Or is he making crucial mistakes that cost the team games and then deflecting the blame?
-
VOTE !!!!!!!!
-
let the predictions begin…………….JETS 20 New England 17
-
Our D is ready for the challenge, the pressure we got on Schaub with a 5-man rush was sickening, Brady is going to have to get rid of the ball quick (something he hasn’t looked to comfortable with against the Bills) I wouldn’t be surprised if we pick him off a couple of times come Sunday. If Sanchez has another poised game and we run it down their throat we’re going to be atop of the AFC East
-
should the jets go after Hank Baskett
-
prediction- PAIN
-
I wanna see Harris put the smackdown on Welker early. And I wanna see the look on Brady’s little girl face as Jenkins one arms his center out of the way.
-
Allen Keels suck ittttttttttttt
-
Mort just said on Mike and Mike he thinks the Jets can win the East!!! Maybe we are finally getting some media love.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mort might as well throw a black cat on the 50 on Sunday. Guy is a jinx, and not our kind of Big Jinx.
-
bent, how do i get to the chat room on gameday?
-
Revis on Moss,i think Scott or Harris will have an eye on Welker over the middle if not Lito,Lowery, and Rhodes will..I really think our D with match up well with the Pats this year.Jenkins,Ellis, Westerman, and Gholston will be causing havoc up front and I wasnt to impressed with the Pats O line against the Bills.Three comments about Brady so far1) He looks rusty until he caught up to the game speed in the 4th quarter 2)Brady is definitely still questioning the stability of his knee as he didn’t seem comfortable in the pocket most of the Buffalo game 3)Brady will be hearing the footstep and be rushing his passes this week.He watched the game film of the Jets game and knows the heat in coming. Our defense needs to play strong on the edges this week as RB screen,Wr screen, and short slants and out will be predominant this week to avoid getting Brady on the IR this game…LOL i cant remember talking about a JET defense like this since the NY SACK EXCHANGE and man if feels GOOD………
-
If this is true, what does it mean for Leon’s negotiations?
-
It sounds like Belichick has his guys very “media prepared” for this game. He is not going to give Rex and the boys any pre-game speech material. I would be shocked if anybody said anything other than what Moss is saying here…..
Not having … Seymor, Harrison, Vrabel, Brushci etc…will limit the trash talk from the NE side before this game.
Nothing more enjoyable than chatting Jets football on TJB gameday thread. Especially during a win
-
IIan…
I read the same article. I have been killing Keels even before the Leon nonsense. This guy is a pimp acting like an agent. He humilated himself on HBO and looks even worse after this deal. He played hardball with the Bengals ( who are a joke franchise ) and got taken to school in negotiations in the process.
It amazes me that this guy has real clients. There are so many better prepared people I would have rep me than this clown.
-
As for the game….. its the same as always. We can stop the run pretty well but we need to take away those BS routes run by K Faulk (who is finally starting to look old) and Wes Welker. This is why we have D Strickland and D Lowery. Quick DB’s who can tackle after the catch.
Rex will not give Brady enough time to sit back and wait for the deep routes to open up. He is a sitting duck back there and with Big jenks ( who eats up D Koppen) and our LB’s off the edge and middle….the short routes and running the ball is their best chance to beat us.
-
Like John I., I had trouble getting into chat room also. Went through the process and got a password but it would not work.
-
I’ve never seen Jets fans have this much swagger…
This feeling is coming from the top (Rex) all the way down to us fans and its kind of incredible. For the first time in a long time I have a feeling we are going to crush the Pats, not just accept that they are better and try to sneak in a win. Not only has the team bonded but even us fans are bonding. Very few devils advocates on the blog right now, its so refreshing. Fans are pinpointing matchups where the Jets are actually favored significantly. Jenks vs. the World, Revis vs. Moss, Harris and Scott vs. Welker. I don’t know if we can sustain this level of excitement all year but if we win this Sunday, there will sure be a lot of momentum…
-
The 2 Keys on Defense for this Sunday are
1 – Lay the hurt
*hit hard and hit often. We know NE will be hitting cross routs and passes to Faulk and co. so make them pay for catching it.
2 – Force Turnovers
*If the Jets blitz alot which we know they will, then Brady is one of the best at finding the open guy. The defenders really need to force some Turnovers
The 2 keys on Offense are
1- Time of possession
*Win the battle of time of possession and keep that NE defense (including Fatfork) winded all game chasing LW and TJ
2- Keep the turnovers to a minimum
*NE will be disguising blitzes – They definitely want Sanchez to throw.
Special Teams key to victory
- Field position
*Make Brady start from inside his 20 and get the Jets good starting position. -
i think the pats going shotgun empty acutally helps us. rex will have an automatic blitz on that formation – either dharris or bscott will be flying in off the edge unblocked. brady can have those 5 yard routes all day long…if he is willing to take a huge hit to make the play.
everyone is focusing on the jets D vs the pats offense, but i am even more optomistic about our O vs the pats D. the bills (without marshawn lynch) were able to rush for 4.7 yards per attempt against the pats D which included mayo for 1/3 of the game. i really like our chances running the ball. this will force the pats to put 8-9 men in the box, and i think if the OL can afford sanchez similar protection as last week, he is going to be able to make some big plays. the pats DBs are a bunch of unproven players
-
Unfortunately I am a HUGE JET fan who lives in Florida.
BTW thanks for sending us all of your old people.
I wish I could be there like nothing else in the world. These guys of ours are gonna fight harder then we’ve seen a JET team fight in some time. W or L (most likely a W) there’s gonna be NOTHING left on the field.
The game is televised. Thank God!!! I hope to see that place sold out Dammit! -
Yeah watching Miami or JAX really….really sucks. Thank God for sports bars!

Thanks Randy. Very respectful of you. He must think that by talking nice the Jet D won’t hurt him too bad.
