Outsiders View: New Orleans Saints
I know some of you are fond of Football Outsiders, (as am I) so once the season gets underway and trends start developing, looking at an opponent’s rankings on Football Outsiders helps to give fans some perspective on the Jets opponent for this weekend and what to expect.
Pass Offense: 70.9% (3rd)
Rush Offense: 37.0% (3rd)
Analysis: Even though there might be better pass or running offenses, there’s no one team that combines such good units together, which is why they’re the best offense in football right now. The Saints can grind out short yards, can break long runs up the middle or around the edge, and have one of the very best Quarterbacks in the league in Drew Brees with a capable set of receivers and tight ends to which to distribute the ball.
So far, Rex Ryan and the Jets have done a great job limiting other teams from gainin yards, converting third downs has had the ability to set his defense after one aspect of an opposing offense, but now it’s time for the Jets to play a more balanced pass-run defense, that also happens to be one of the best. We’ll see how it goes, but the Jets might have to bring a more base approach to blitzing while using extra blitzers strategically rather than some of the reckless abandon that we’ve seen in past weeks.
Pass Defense: -33.4% (3rd)
Rush Defense: -14.6% (13th)
Analysis: All this team needed from it’s defense is to not be awful to make this a legit conference contender, and this perenial bottom feeding defense has taken a sharp rise this season to become one of the league’s best this season. DC Gregg Williams has pulled this unit together and along with some solid acquisitions, this team looks to be not only a unit that won’t hold back the offense, but one that can change the game in their own right. So far, the Saints have neutralized other teams passing games with 23 passes defensed and seven interceptions, both good enough for a league best (tied with the Packers).
The Jets running game hasn’t been all that great so far this year, but don’t just blame Thomas Jones. At least part of the blame has to fall to the offensive line, who either is starting to show their age, or what I think is more likely haven’t yet found their groove after an preseason filled with injuries. Although the Saints have a solid defense, the Jets should be better suited in trying to run the ball on this team, and keep their defense off pace by throwing when it might not be expected.
Mark Sanchez has had some good tests so far as to see what his abilities are, and just like the Titans were a big step for him to face a defense that the Jets were going to struggle to run on, facing a pass defense this good will be a real indicator on just how far Sanchez has come along in a month’s time.
Special Teams: -5.8% (30th)
Analysis: If the Jets are smart, they’ll get creative on special teams. Right now, the Jets are the fantastic in coverage and returning the ball, and New Orleans can be had on kick coverage. If there’s been a game so far this season where it looks like Leon could break a big one, this could be that game.

I’m not sure what to make of it, but last week, for the first time, the NO defense played a three man front on virtually every play. Before this, and historically, they were a straight 4-3 team. It’ll be interesting to see what the Saints will be able to do against a team that is so committed to the run game as the Jets. Clearly, Jon Vilma, for one, is not suited to three man fronts and a massive nose tackle is necessary to make it work.
They also played nickel about half the game. That may account for TOs’ failure to catch a pass.
I think this is the perfect time for us to really commit to the run, they are not that good on defense and don’t have many run stoppers. Memo to Schotty, RUN THE BALL ALOT, GET GREENE THE BALL!
“At least part of the blame has to fall to the offensive line, who either is starting to show their age, or what I think is more likely haven’t yet found their groove after an preseason filled with injuries”
starting to show their age?? dont understand this statement. the youth of the jets OL is one of their absolute strengths. faneca is 32, woody is 31. the 3 other starters are under 30, with dbrick and mangold just 25. the average age is 28.4. you can question faneca’s pass blocking, or the overall run blocking performance of the line, but age certainly doesnt have anything to do with it. that comment had me scratching my head…
I’m sorry guys… am I missing something here?? I keep reading all these Saints fans on our blog, talking like they have this incredibly amazing team that is going to challenge us more than any other team we’ve beaten so far has challenged us.
These are the Saints… they aren’t scaring anyone. They have the same exact offense as last year for the most part. They ran up scores on two terrible defenses. Sanchez will benefit from the dome just as much as Brees. I am not nearly as intimidated by this team as I was by the Pats, Titans, and even the Houston offense (and we all saw how that went). This is nothing… just another team thats supposed to beat us, but will ultimately not be able to handle the pressure put on by our defense. If Brady, Collins, and Shaub couldn’t handle it, why would a smaller Bress be able to handle it?
Everyone is talking about the Saints offense playing in a dome, but what about the Jets offense playing in a dome? How are the Saints going to cover Keller and Cotchery? How are they going to stop Leon Washington? If J. Vilma is their answer, then its going to be a long day for the Saints. Also not pointed out is that this is the weakest defense the Jets have faced this year. No Mario Williams, Belichick defense, or Fisher defense this week.
Faneca turns 33 during the year and Woody 32 next month, and offensive lineman retire at the age of 34 on average.
It’s a matter of time before those two begin to deteriorate, and while that may not be for a few more years, tallying up their ages with Brick and Mangold doesn’t delay the process if it does, in fact, begin now.
The Saints will have a hard time running the ball and stopping the run….
I know they are pass happy but we get the QB quickly…and we cover the screen passes really well. Unless D Brees plays lights out I (while being hit alot) think we win this game.
Look at last week..Tenn has a superiour running game which we stopped and they had a better OL and Rex and the boys figured it our fast.
I say he continue to bring the house. We laid back a little last week and Collings got rolling. Pressure on any QB is good. I think this soft offense will crumble with constant pressure. Go ask the high powered Texans and Pats
NJets,
If the Saints defense proves to be for real (and I think that is a big if right now) and they actually try to run every now and then, this team is going to statistically trend very close to the 2007 Pats. The offense is that good. Big test for the Saints O-line though. Between the style they run and the way the line plays that usually never let that guy get hit, even if it means getting a penalty. They could be down to their 3rd string LT though.
I disagree about thomas jones. I’m sorry but averaging a 1 yard gain for your first 15 carries and breaking 1 for 20-30 on your 16th just don’t cut it. Every series that starts with thomas running the ball puts the team in a hole on second and third down.
Leon at least gets 3 yards when there isn’t much room.
Jason…
I totally agree with you except for one thing… the 2007 Pats?? Colston is not even close to Randy Moss (look for Revis to totally shut him out of this game too)… Welker is significantly better than Meechem, or whoever they have at number 2, probably Reggie Bush. Ben Watson is just as good as Shockey. Brees and Brady? I mean… Brady in 2007 was one of the best statistical QBs ever. Brees might be on par with that but hes not significantly better by any stretch of the imagination. Mike Bell, Pierre Thomas? We just shut down Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton, and Fred Taylor… I think we can handle them. I’m just not seeing them as serious contenders. They have the same offense as last year. I don’t think the Giants are really worried about the Saints in the NFC…. lets be honest…so why should we? You make a great point about the LT though… good luck keeping Brees healthy this game… we are gonna send blitzs just to hit him as hard as possible, forget what happens with to the ball.
I am not giving up on T Jones just yet but shouldnt we see the S Greene era start by now? I am not sure if he can pick up the blitz or catch a pass but he should a get a look pretty soon
Win or lose this week. Brees will not feel very good on Monday morning….thats a promise
yeah, the 2007 pats comparisons might be a bit of a stretch after playing detriot philly and buffalo.
man, i really wish we had C Pace for this game – him vs a 3rd string LT??
the guy from nyjetscap.com actually has a really well put together preview of this game on his page
http://www.nyjetscap.com/jetssaintspreview.html
Off the subject:
In an effort to get as much Jet information as I can I have been checking out the Jet player’s twitter comments on http://www.Ganggreen.com. If anybody else has been following this please give me some feed back. I would hope Clowney would start studying more game film as opposed to talking about watching movies and playing PS3. As an example last night he comments about the movie Wolverine he is watching before going to bed while Revis mentions studying film before going to sleep. Maybe this is why Revis is a starter on his way to his 2nd Pro Bowl and Clowney is trying to crack the line up.
I think it would be a big mistake to spend too much time establishing the run against New Orleans. The Jets running game simply hasn’t been very good, and it’s unreasonable to expect Sanchez to keep converting long third downs like he did in Houston (and like he very much failed to do last week). You can’t spot a team 2nd and 9 over and over, particularly not when their offense is able to put as much pressure on you as New Orleans’ can.
This is frankly a pretty bad matchup all around. The Jets are missing two of their top four corners and they can’t generate pass rush without blitzing. The Saints will be able to spread out the field, find the mismatches and hit them quickly, and unlike Brady, Brees is actually playing like the best QB in football, not living on past glory. At least the Saints have weakness and some turnover on the offensive line, which should help make some of the more exotic blitzes effective. But that means a secondary with Drew Coleman and Dwight Lowery are going to have to hold up. It’s dicey.
NJets- Brees is on par and he’s doing it with an inferior set of skill position players. He’s been lights-out. (That said, I think Peyton Manning is having a better season so far.)
Just read that Leonhard, Izzo, Strickland and Shepperd did not practice.
Anything on Strickland or Sheppard yet? What happened to Leonhard?
We will need as many DB’s as possible this weekend
seanmac31…
I kind of like your idea of not establishing the run. Lets have the run play off of the pass this game because the Saints have no rush so Sanchez will have time. Given time, Sanchez has proven to make very few mistakes. Thomas Jones is horrible if you ask me. There is no point in starting the game off with him falling forward for 2 yards every time he touches the ball. I’d rather air it out and see what happens. They want a shoot out, we should give them a shoot out. Like I said, given time to move around the pocket, Sanchez is really really good. As for Brees… yeah hes on par with Brady… thats what I was saying… we know how to stop that. Our defense will be challenged to keep them below 20 points… but they should be ready to show their unit off. Stopping the Saints is probably the best way to put the league on notice.
Seanmac – I agree with your logic about establishing the run, but doesn’t it always seem that when a team with a poor running game faces a good run defense, they do better than expected (and vice versa)? Maybe I am just imagining it because I got burned several times playing fantasy football! There could be some logic to it though, because the team could spend extra time working at improving their running game or adding a few wrinkles. On the other hand, maybe they will focus all their efforts on the passing game this week, as you suggest.
i love thomas jones, but he just looks really slow out there this season…i hope its just because team’s are stacking the box against us
The Jets MUST sign a back up DB this week, too many popped kneed caps……….is gonna bite us back…..IMO
Cimini is reporting that Jim Leonard was out of practice today with a knee injury. Does anyone have details on this injury?
Our secondary seems to be really hurting and with an offense like the Saints, this could be the difference
Run game or no run game, either way, we need sustained offensive drives. Our defense will be after Brees but can they do it repeatedly throughout the game if we just keep putting the ball back in Brees’ hands. They need their rest throughout the game to stay effective. That usually happens with a strong run game, but as long as we’re moving the chains, i dont care how we do it.
Against NO , establishing the running game is bad strategy. First NO will play the run and let the rookie beat them. Which meansthat by the time the running game is established we may have been down by 2-3 TD. This is the game that they have to let Mark throw the ball. Let him throw 40 passes and beat them, besides their secondary is the weak link on that defense.
Why this is an interesting matchup:
#1 Offense vs #1 Defense:
Sure you guys have played NE, TEN and HOU, but none of those offenses w/ exception of NE are even near the same level as the Saints. As for NE, in case you guys have noticed, isn’t playing their best ball right now.
Ultimately IMO the game is going to come down to Turnovers and field position. And a little clarification for you Yanks, the Dome isn’t an advantage b/c it provides shelter from the elements (FYI it’ll be like 85 degrees and humid) it’s an advantage b/c it’s loud, furnished w/ hybrid turf (run faster), and when opposing teams have the ball it’s hard to communicate at the line of scrimmage and hear the cadence/snap count over 70,000 WHODATs.
Should be a really good game.
GEAUX SAINTS!
Jets fans take notice on Sunday……no running game = long day for Dirty Sanchez!!!!!!!!! Who Dat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^ laughs at Nikolas. Do you even watch football? Did you even read this article? Pass Defense (3rd) and considering somebody elses comment about how the Saints have no pass rush that makes that stat even more amazing.
The jets still have the 11th most ypg rushing as a team in the league. That’s not bad at all. Either the Saints stack the box to stop the run, and Sanchez has a field day, or they play back trying to get more interceptions, and the running game steamrolls them. Our offense will surprise some people this game.
teams are still loading up the box and until we throw more on 1st down, the running game is not going to be great
last year teams always had to respect brett and so couldnt load up the box as much
Granted the Jets have a 3-0 start and they were able to dump Favre, but they just aren’t that good this year.
Tru all the Hype of NO Powerhouse offfence all they get is 6pts in vegas……..HMMmmmmm
daheadchoppa 6pts in vegas is like 30pts in college, unless it’s the Colts vs the Rams you aren’t going to see an NFL line that’s more than a TD.
I like the Saints fans on the blog this week. It’s a nice warm-up for the Dolphin trolls next week.
FYI- 7 (or 8, depending on your source) of the 13 games this weekend have a line of over 6 points. SONNED.
wow, didn’t know son could be used as a verb in the past tense. But anyway get your chutes ready cuz yallz jets gonna come crashin down in the Dome Sunday. I’ll be back Monday, win or lose (not likely), to see what’s up then. peace out. WHODAT?!
Don’t remind me, mole!
For some reason the pats and fins fans have been quiet recently.
I wonder why.
You’re critiquing my language when you use words like “yallz” and “whodat”? Ok then.
“Granted the Jets have a 3-0 start and they were able to dump Favre, but they just aren’t that good this year.”
This could be the most insightful comment of the day.
saints will force Sanchez to beat them just like they did Kolb,an you seen how thta went,if this game was played in NJ.i say the jets win but its not, dont forget the saints are 3-0 also an have’nt been home in 2 weeks.saints win this one,to all coming to NOLA go to Razzo’s 3-for-1 ….beer or miked drinks see ya in the dome
saints 38
jets 13
hybrid turf? Most teams in the NFL play on “hybrid” turf nowadays. I know we do at the meadowlands.
The Dome-thing didnt work so well for Houston, their own fans were booing them in the 2nd quarter.
I’m really not worried about our defense vs your offense. I’m more worried about sustained offensive drives by us to keep our D fresh, so we can keep hitting Brees all day. This game is on Sanchez. If he sucks, we lose. If he doesnt make mistakes, we’ll be in it.
38-13!?!
The jets haven’t given up 38 points this entire season. Sorttttt it out.
Much like Give Leon the Ball said.. I believe some of the running problems have to do with teams challenging the rookie QB and stacking the box. Clearly it’s not every play, but it’s got something to do with it. On the bright side, the O-Line is pass blocking well, and Cotchery is making teams pay for it.
Saints fans are obviously idiots, you have no idea what you are talking about. Dude, your starting left tackle is out this week, I promise you we will over load that side on the blitz and hit Brees often, your defense sucks too. This is your first real test of the season, ask Matt Schaub how are good our defense is………………. I agree that the Saints have a great quarterback but so do the Patriots and what happened to them?
the saints really havent faced any good competition yet. The best they faced was Philli with a guy making his first career start in Kolb. I believe the halftime score was 13 to 10 Saints. First play of the third- kickoff- Philli returner fumbles the ball -Saints get the ball within their own 25 and get a TD. score- 20 to 10 Saints. Philli behind by 10, now time for Kolb- first time starter to throw the ball. What does he do right away, throws an Int. and Saints get the ball once again inside their own 25- leads to another TD. score- 27 to 10 saints- game is over by now. Kolb gets some easy yard stats in the soft, prevent style defense and also throws another Int. by Sharper ran back 97 yards for a TD. Blow out game minutes into the third after back to back turnovers by philli to start the thrid. Give Saints credit for making those turnovers, just like the Jets did to the Titans. Detriot is not a strong team, and buffalo held the saints down for 3 quarters but like always, found a way to lose. I cant say the saints have been tested. Still think they are a good team, but havent been tested.
The Jets- start off with facing houston- 3rd best offense last year- made a statement. Then the Pats- statement game- came hard at brady, who still doesnt seem like he is up to speed with his WR’s, first time in years the Pats didnt score a TD, but meanwhile everyone was raving how great he was finishing off Buffalo the week before. Then the Jets had the Titans- tough team, wet weather for both teams, some rookie mistakes and a ball threw a WR hands for an INT, but weather helped on the Special Teams Turnovers, the Jets found a way to win. Feel we played much better competition then saints. Will be interesteing to see what happens this weekend, but we have a good chance.
“For some reason the pats and fins fans have been quiet recently.”
How much talking were you doing after collapsing last year?
None. I wasn’t doing any when we were doing well either and I haven’t been doing any now, though…
I think you may have stumbled on the reason why. It’s easy to talk when you’re doing well!
Jeff – please don’t call anyone an idiot…let alone an entire fanbase!
“I think you may have stumbled on the reason why. It’s easy to talk when you’re doing well!”
Something far too many fans and politicians don’t seem to realize.
Starz31 hit on the head……
Just a thought Jets fans–and congrats on your awesome start to the season–the Bills that you are so down on almost beat the Pats as well. Saints didn’t get shut down they just took what the Bills gave them–5 DBs means its time to grind it out. Even when you don’t have your two best grind it out backs–Bell and PT (Bush is a weapon but not a grind it out back). Short passes, wear down the defense, keep the lead, blow them out in the second half. No offensive touchdowns. Injuries to the offensive line might hurt us, but what about injuries to your DBs? Brees is pretty good at reading defenses, and three weeks of film on Ryan’s tricky defenses might be enough for NO to pick you apart. Maybe not. I’m sure Ryan has some tricks up his sleeve. I imagine that NO’s switch to primarily a 3-4 last week is going to cause some head scratching in NYJ film rooms as well. It’s gonna be a great game. I’m just curious though, what’s going to happen if you can’t get a running game going against the 5th ranked Run D? Put it on your Rookie Franchise QB? 4 TD’s and 2 INT and 4 fumbles? Both of these 3-0 teams have a lot to prove. PHIL and NE look vastly overrated to me. Your opponents have records of 1-2, 2-1, and 0-3. Ours have records of 1-2, 2-1, and 1-2.
I ain’t that impressed yet with either of these teams.
I do have to lean towards the fact that in a big Offensive team like the Saints against a big Defensive team like the Jets, it’s the how the defense of the Saints does against the offense of the Jets.
That’s why I think the Saints might have an edge overall, though I think this comes down to special teams.
And yes I know PT played in the game but he wasn’t healthy in the first half and only played Special teams till the second half
jps…i remember talking about how Chad was about to get exposed by Baltimore. I dont remember though what happened…did anyone watch that game? I wish I knew how Chad played in that big game…its escaping me at this moment….
“new high score!? what does that mean? did I break it?”
please dont use opponent’s records as a barometer…seriously, you lose credibility with that. late in the season, fine, but not in week 4 with all that high quality teams you guys played.
Everyone on this site is talking about the Saints offense not being that good, have any of the Jets fans realized that you do have a rookie quaterback. We did get a new offense cordinator. I’m thinking that we will confuse him and probably get a few turnovers just like the Saints have been getting in the other 3 games. I don’t see the Jets coming to N.O. and winning. Good luck, yall will need it. The last thing we are worried about is our offense.
it will be a chest match! saints win 21-10
“a chest match”? Outstanding. The Saintsations will win this hands down!
@ Jamie
our rookie quarterback has outplayed his veteran counterparts in each game this season.
i dont care who you have on defense or who your defensive coordinator is…he aint no bill belichick…if mark can play well against his defense, then he can play well against anyone
we are looking at a very good defense . saints 4-0 going into the by week.. go saints go !
Jamie, sleep on our offense all you want. Fact is, we’re still in the top 1/2 in the NFL in scoring (yes, I know the ‘Aints are first, save your rebuttle) and every team we’ve played has underestimated us.
Has anyone else noticed these fans’ complete lack of command when it comes to tenses and pronouns? It’s staggering.
you guys are all making me hungry for bbq
i don’t know what you mean brendan…WHOSDAT
lmao
Sanchez is going to score 5 TDs this weekend. The NO defense is so soft. I predict a score 42-9 Jets.
lol…42-9 I love it…I think they’ll score at least 1 TD, lets be realistic here… 42-16
brees is the best qb in the league hands down.. if you send the blitzes brees will pick you apart.. if you sit back he will dump it off.. lose lose situation… game not till 3 coon asses will be going crazy in the dome.. sanchez will be confused with our deffensive schemes he will throw 3 picks.. we will score and we will score often.. yalls best bet is to run the ball cause yalls best defense is to keep our offense off the field
wow is that score coming from a madden game ?
Brenden, before you criticize somebody else’s grammar, you might want to learn how to spell rebuttal.
Jeremy,
You have possibly the best QB in the game (how you can say “hands down” while a certain Manning is still alive is beyond me). Look at what the Jets did to Schaub and Brady. No, neither is as good right now as Brees. But both could have been Joe Montana for what it’s worth because no QB can perform when he’s being knocked down over 20 times and has under 3 seconds to throw almost every play. Once you have to abandon the running game because we completely shut it down, you’ll be forced to pass and we’ll have plenty of traps waiting.
Win or lose. NO is lucky they are on the bye after this game. Jets are going to hit Brees so much he’d miss next week due to soreness.
@ rudeman
10 pts are you serious??……….SAINTS defence aint no better……BAAHAahahhahah….*cough*….sry….HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…….we gonna light it up baby!!
nikolas you need to go back to your psp or xbox and play some more !!!(no need to post your score).
According to Jeremy, the Saints have God playing QB…i should have known its a lose lose situation, us playing defense…might as well stay in NY then.
jsp,
Come back in a few weeks, we don’t need your garbage clogging up our message boards.

Sorry, I figured all the talk about how awesome the Jet’s opponents were and how easy the Saint’s opponents were, needed a bit of tampering down. Like I said, I’m not that impressed yet with either team. I think NE and PHIL are going to have a tough time making the post season because of serious weakness on defense and the O-line. (Betcha Belichick misses Seymour now!) I think the Jets are doing great and I’ve always liked them, but 3 games in we still don’t know anything concrete about anyone.
Still say special teams decide this one. Unless either Sanchez coughs up the ball or the Saint’s O-line doesn’t do a better job of picking up man blitzes than they’ve done in the past.
Seriously though, I haven’t seen any Jets games can someone explain the fumbles Sanchez had? He only lost one right? What was happening? What about the interceptions? Was that the rain or mental errors? Just curious.
Either way, Jets fans–it’s gonna be a great game.
Isaac
Bent….
Its been a crazy week of monitoring this back and forth huh??
i am not sure where the Taints bravado comes from but it is a welcomed treat.
We have seen this played out before …..Great defense always beats great offense….
brees will pick yall apart… same offense as last year is bull crap did you see the bills game they were not going to let brees beat them so we ran the ball… thomas had 126 yrds and 2 tds in 2 quarters of play.. suffering from a stomach virus durring pregame.. yall are decent but yall are not very good… yalls best chance to score will be on kickoff return because we do not have good kick coverage..
2 fumbles last week were as he was throwing the ball in the wet whether…ball just slipped out of his hands, literally…it was kinda comical. One against NE was a strip-sack by NE. they hit his hand from behind…fumble. Annnnd, im trying to remember the other one.
wet weather* lol
I was saying that this early, it is easier to gauge a team by reputation alone, NE, Ten, and HOU, all more dangerous than Detroit, Bills, Philly, regardless of record. TEN is better than 0-3. Philly is banged up right now, so thats huge. NE, ditto.
we are gonig to the watch the best game on sunday ratings will be sky high good one for cbs.. go saints go!
IJB,
His fumbles might have had to do with the wet conditions, but really they were ball security issues. He was holding the football like a loaf of bread and one of the Titans D-lineman slapped it out (on the one he lost). One was him going to throw and losing it on the windup (he was still moving his arm backwards so it counted as a fumble as opposed to an incomplete pass). His INT in Houston was a bad, rookie play. His INT in the Titans game was a ball that kind of sailed on him, the receiver got his fingertips on it but didn’t haul it in and it was grabbed by Chris Hope.
All in all, he makes rookie mistakes, but they are very limited. And when given ample time and protection, he does possess the ability to pick apart a read-and-react style defense (from what I’ve seen).
I just love the way Jets fans are underestimating the Saints defense. Sanchez is a smart young fellow, and I hope he turns out well for the Jets, as I think he will, but he is not ready for what Gregg Williams is going to throw at him. Drew Brees, on the other hand, is the best in the business when it comes to reading defense. Advantage Saints. Oh, and a born again J Vilma will lead the way in your enlightenment. You Jets fans ready to walk into a buzzsaw?
rudeman…normally you’d be right, but most of the nation wont be seeing this game b/c CBS doesnt have a doubleheader this wk (fox does) so only the regional markets will get the game. I have no idea how much of the ratings DirectTV accounts for though.
Jeremy,
Our rush defense was one of the best units last year, and has only gotten better. We faced the Titans last week (a team that does nothing but run the ball) and held Chris johnson to 97 yards a week after going for 200. You will not have that kind of success rushing the football against the Jets as you did the hapless Bills, who were missing their best defender in Paul Posluszny.
please dont speak of us underestimating your defense when you then go on to use the term “buzzsaw”…I think you should save that word for when reffering to the jets defense.
That said, from what ive read and heard, your defense is much improved from previous years, so it’ll be a good one.
starz31, you are right on that one . the nation will miss a very good game!
Breeze
Bill Belichick > Gregg Williams…MarkSanchez played very well against Bill and the Pats. there is nothing your defensive coordinator can cook up that will be superior to anything the Pats did..sorry
also, tom brady, arguably the best qb ever, couldnt read the jets defense. i’m not saying brees cant, but expect him to have issues in that department
Brendan
dont shortchange our defense..chris johnson got a big chunk of those yards late in the 4th when our defense was playing the against pass..johnson was a nonfactor in that game
one could argue though that the saints have better defensive personnel then the Pats…pure speculation though.
We didnt play against the Pats Vilma (J Mayo)
guy’s don’t forget drew lite the ravens defense up in 06 with rex as coordinator ..
I’d like to also address this misnomer that Brees is the best QB in the league without question. He lit up two spotty defenses which pad his stats. He is top 2, but Manning is still #1 and no one on earth reads a defense better than he does.
rudeman…it sucks big time…I know it b/c i live in Boston and I have to go to either a sportsbar or a friends place who has directTV.
Breeze,
LOL, J. Vilma??? Seriously!!! What till Sunday, then you will see some real linebackers. Us Jets fans know all about Vilma, and we know he’s soft as Charmin. Watch number 52 on the Jets defense. He’ll show you why we got rid of Vilma.
starz, don’t miss it..
rudeman,
That was because they were playing catchup all game. I believe that was a double-digit loss, if memory serves correctly. In fact, I believe that the Saints only had 7 points until the 4th quarter and put up the rest against the backups for the Ravens. Brees also tossed up 3 INT’s and lost a fumble. I’ll take that performance on Sunday all day long.
rudeman:
Ravens held Saints to 35 yards rushing, and led 35-7 in the 4th quarter.
we will see how many of yall are talking on monday i imagine yall will be pretty dissapointing…schuab is a terrible quarterback, brady just came off a severe injury, and the titans dont have a passing game.. so yall have won three meaningless games the patriots should have lost to the bills and the titans are winless, and houston is terrible
starz, man you have a very good memory you are on top of your game.. drew will look bad on that and run with it…
lol I cant believe the ravens/saints game from 2006 is being brought up….the saints lost! that really helps the argument wow
Brendan,
There is no misnomer…..Manning is the best. Brees, contrary to some previous post, has been lighting up defenses since arriving in NO. Brees is a top flight QB and has weapons and a running game that is top 3 in the NFL to date….I don’t get the blow out scores being posted by Jets fans…..If anything this will be a tight game until someone makes a mistake and I don’t see how Sanchez can go into the Dome on Sunday and command a team with the atmosphere and the way the Saints D is playing right now. The edge has to go to the “Taints” either way…..RESPECT will come on Sunday!!
Sunday…Sunday…Sunday!!!!!
Brees the best qb? I guess Peyton, Eli, and Tom no longer play in this league. News to me. All you guys saying best this and best that with only three games into the season need to chill.
In my view, the game this week will come down to who can control time of possession and turnovers. Unless the jets offensive line can do a better job than last game, it could be a long afternoon for them. The game will be won or lost in the trenches.
brees was the best qb last year and he is starting where he left off
lets not harp on Vilma here…he thrived on our team before Mangini came to town. he was one of the up and coming stars in the league back then. different story now…but he’s still a legit force, and better than what NE through at us. But the TEN front is very solid.
TEN is better than 0-3. Actually, TEN is better than anyone the Saints have played this season. soo…there goes that argument.
Thanks for the info Brendan. Much appreciated. Sanchez is going to be a great QB for you guys. I thought he was a great pick in the draft and he’s doing better then my high expectations.
Starz31–no offense intended, but reputation????
Reputation might scare some teams I guess but that doesn’t really mean much more than a 3 game win/loss record. (although the record is based on actual facts). I for one think it’s going to be NE desperate for a win when they come to the Superdome in Nov.
Houston has huge problems to fix in its defense and that zone blocking O-line experiment hasn’t really worked yet. Detroit–obviously not a good team. NE always tough but they look REALLY suspect to me. That O-line and Defense look…not good in a lot of key areas. Brady might get better but that’s a secondary concern to those areas. Philly–banged up pretty bad 3 weeks in. I can only think it’s going to be a long season for them. Talent on IR doesn’t do much for your record.
Titans–have some solid things going on but I’m not impressed in any aspect by them. I just don’t see a real advantage they have in any area. They don’t look as physical as they did last year either.
Bills–who knows? They have good corners (but they’re injured now) and some promising DE but the rest of their defense looks bad. FYI the Jets are going to have the time of their lives playing that O-line. It’s not good. You guys will love that game.
Reputation? All I see is two teams that did a solid job beating 2 mediocre teams and 1 pretty good team.
I suppose the Titans and the Pats are typically tough teams, but I haven’t seen them back that reputation up with anything yet. That win over the Falcons? The Falcons look pretty bad to me honestly. Terrible defense and Turner looks worn out. Titans seem really good at losing so far.
I gotta run. Gotta say our site (nola.com/saints) got invaded by Detroit fans in early Sept–today someone pointed some serious smack talk going on here–it’s been a lot more fun bantering with you guys. And amazingly polite by most standards. Come by nola if you want more.
Peace.
06 game is going to bring back memory for drew. i guess pay back time?
Right now…Its Peyton 1 and Brees 2. Eli is on the next tier, not the top tier and same for Brady until he proves he’s back.
Peyton and Brady, but Eli? Are you freaking kidding me? And regarding Vilma, have you already forgotten his first years with you? That’s the Vilma you will see on Sunday, count on it.
And yeah, I know the Jets have a great D, but you’re dead wrong about Sanchez vs Williams (Give Leon), as you will know by about 5:00 pm Sunday.
I’m very worried about this game.. Dr. Brees will probably throw for 7 touchdowns & 480 yards… The Saints run game will get at least 200 yards.. So I’m not confident at all.. If it’s Saints 35 Jets 14 at halftime I’ll probably pack the team up and get them on the plane home.
Sorry, Starz31. Brady doesn’t need to prove anything. Multiple SB rings is proof enough for me. Season is only three games in, and by the end his numbers will be back to where everyone expects them to be.
Bigeasy
I have news for you
the score changed to 49-6
rex you are the man ..This sunday DREW will be the man ! GO SAINTS GO COME TO N.O. AND LETS WIN A SHIP TOGETHER SOME DAY. MAYBE ?
I said not to count out Vilma…others here called him soft. He was a force on our defense before Mangini ruined him.
I dont get what was hard to understand about the QB rankings, Peyton is #1…Brees is #2. right now. Brady will be back up there…but not yet, not right now. that has nothing to do with the SBs he won 5-9 years ago. And yes, Eli is not on the same tier as his brother.
Guys!!!!! I just met DeVito and he told me that Rex and Chris Jenkins are on diet. I ask him why and he told me that they want to be hungry for Sunday afternoon. Instead of hotdogs they are going to eat the NO players.
oh and take nothing away from Vilma…but Harris and Scott are the best 1-2 punch in the league right not at ILB.
Without posturing, it’s important to note that the Jets do not blitz on every play by any means. They do, however, pressure the quarterback with attacking defenders who ’seem’ to come on every play. It’s the uncertainty of relentless pressure that accumulates. It wears down offenses and makes even good quarterbacks less efficient as the game wears on. It’s worked for years for Baltimore and it seems to be working for the Jets, who may have even better personnel than the Ravens (that’s a debate for another time).
But, by actual count, the Jets blitz an average number of times.
Somewhere an english teacher is crying.
Which Teacher? The one who taught George Bush?
not pointing fingers at you starz31, at your brethren. And for the record, I hold P Manning in the highest regard, maybe consider him the best to ever play the position, wish he were a Saint like his daddy.
Tell you what, I’ll put Brees in the same category as the three I’ve already mentioned when and IF he ever wins a sb ring. You want to and live and die by qb rating’s, then go ahead.
Nicholas, is that 2 field goals for Carney or are you saying we missed the extra point………no let me guess carney tried to kick the ball but Kris Jenkins blew up the middle and Mark Sanchez blocked the extra point…….the best part of this…..on Monday I’ll be back win or lose.
Wow, a lot of you Jets fans are real ignorant, blind or hard-headed or something. Like little kids! I’m done wasting my time with yall.
i’m really really scared now after hearing that the propeller airplanes are actually the second coming of Christ
lol…”like little kids”…well, yeah. Anyone who follows sports has to be one. So what the heck are you doing here?
we have this guy named sharper, you may have heard of him, anyway…he loves to help out butterbar rookie qb’s with their completion percentage by catching those errant passes that would otherwise go incomplete
There are 122 comments in this thread…I guess you only read the ones you didnt like. Why not comment on those that make sense.
The reasonable Jets fan here have said…watch out for our defense, it will surprise you. Our offense is lead by a rookie who will be playing only his 2nd away game and inside a rowdy Dome. This game will come down to Sanchez. We’ll run the ball just enough to be effective. Brees will put up some points, but it wont be easy. It’ll be on Sanchez to match it, to be able to handle the crowd and intensity and to limit his mistakes. If he does that…we’re in it till the end.
And please come back monday…I’ll be here win or lose.
Readme, unless you change your tag every time you post, i didnt even know you were here…
Greetings yall from the bayou! Alot of you aren’t respecting the saints like you should. I’m not saying we’re going to win, but yall just sound stupid.
1. The ravens game from 2006 is irrelevant. Our O-line is different now, we have a TE that can catch the ball, and recievers not named Colston that can play.
2. I don’t think the saints have played anyone that good, but that being said, who have yall played really? A houston team that couldn’t stop a girl scout troup from running it? A pats team with very questionable lines and a Qb still trying to get back in the swing of things? A winless Tennesse team? Don’t give me that BS about Tennessee is better than their record because it is mostly the same team as last year. This is a new season. That’s like me saying we are going to whip you guys because the jets weren’t that great last year.
3. Our D is better than you think, and Sanchez is [probably worse than you think. Weren’t you guys all high on Favre at 8-3?
4. Our offense really is that good. Do you realize the saints have not been behind this whole season? Not a single time has the score been in the others team favor over the course of three games.
Honestly, I don’t think you guys will win. Brees is better when more than 1 player blitzes. Look up the stats, but our run game will kill you if you keep a bunch of DBs in. Revis will shut down colston, but if you think that really matters to Brees then you don’t know who you’re playing. Colston really has only one good game this year, and we’re still rolling.
TEN is better than any team you played yet. Philly is banged up. NE is banged up, true, but they do have a guy named Belichick, who is kinda good at making things worth w/o star talent.
No question Ten is different than last year though. Different D Coordinator is the biggest difference, besides the 2nd best DT in Haynseworth.
Some other ‘nawlins fan brought up the 2006 game first anways.
still read my post 2 before your’s thor…thats the game in a nutshell.
Thor,
We didn’t bring up the ‘06 game, a Saints fan did.
The Pats beat up on an Atlanta team that is one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the NFC, and we beat up on the Pats. The Titans might be the best 0-3 team in history and would probably be the best team the Saints played if it replaced one of the 3 teams they have actually gone up against.
Your defense took advantage of inexperience at QB and shotty running games.
The ‘Aints offense is very good, indeed, but so is the Jets defense. It’s the age old question of great offense vs. great defense.
Brees is better when more than 1 player blitzes, but not in the way Rex sends blitzes. Your “different O-line” is worse than the ‘06 counterpart, and it will lead to Brees getting knocked around.
im done with “yall” have a good one…thanks for coming by, i do enjoy the banter. its gonna be a good one.
our defence is gonna take advantage of another inexperienced qb and shotty running game,,brendan
Thor – I think the majority of fans DO respect the Saints and ARE well aware of their strengths. Some are just bristling at the fact that a bunch of Saints fans showed up disparaging our team, when we’re kind of proud of how they’ve done so far, especially considering nobody gave them a chance at the start of the year.
saints will play to the run and expose the rookie…Shaper will have a least 2 pics on ole dirty rookie franchez. and the saints offence is unstoppable and is dosen’t matter if we run or pass… saints 3rd string rb is better than jest 1st… and the dome will be so loud after two away game victories that “franchez” will choke anyway
this is really getting out of hand. we always get a few trolls on our site from upcoming opponents, but this is ridiculous. the saints? unbelievable.
if only yall were still the BRETTS you might stand a chance….
you saint fans come here talking poo and then get mad when we dont agree with you??
thats right johnsec, the saints are unbelievable. thanks!
bent, do us jet fans a favor and get medieval on this rabble.
GEAUX SAINTS!!
These jets fans are delerious, and actually comical in their error filled assessments of these two teams.
WHO DAT ? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the jetts rabble will feel like thier in midieval times sunday about 4:30
People analyze this game all wrong. It’s not “can the Jets handle the Saints offense”, it’s more like “can the Saints handle the Jets defense”. We’ve shut down two of the best O’s in the game, the Saints have played the cowardly Lions, a Mcnabbless Eagles, and the the joke Buffalo Bills. Buffalo held them to 28, even if they put up 21 on us, I’m confident the Jets can beat that.
” saints third string rb is better than jest 1st ” that ones a keeper. drop the hammer bent. please.
mcnabb doesn’t play defence and thier d gave up 48 so i sayes …..we can handle your d
bent bailed to nola.com and is beind indoctrinated into the whodat nation. fend for yourself
Do you understand that when you play a crippled offense, you get to spend alot of time on offense. Plus the eagles had 4 turnovers, so i’m sure your field position was great. Good luck getting 4 turnovers from us. Lets see how Pierre Thomas handles Kris Jenkins.
Things are heating up! I love it. Where and how did all these rednecks or Cajuns or whatever, get on this site? Don’t they have their own blog sites in New Orleans, or did the intenet not quite make it there yet?
Anyway – they make things interesting and actually, had some good points here and there. I’ve done a lot of reading up on the Saints – even watched highlight videos of their 2008 season on youtube. I hate to say it, or to even to think it, but I think we have a problem on out hands. For me – the QB is what makes the difference. Sanchez – he’s much more poised than what I have been expecting, and given time and experience, he’ll turn out to be one of the greats. But this Brees character – this guy is not only gifted, but apparantly smart. Every article I read – this guy is smart – this guy is a student of the game – this guy is a decision maker etc… bla bla bla. I’m starting to buy it !! Let’s face it – they have an edge at QB and playing at home – Me thinks trouble is ahead. I’m not feeling good about this one, then again, I didn’t feel good about the Titans either! My heart says we pound them and rip out their guts in front of their drunken home crowd. Buy my mind says we go home losers – we put up a good fight in the first half, but we lose. Guys – don’t get pissed off at me – I’m just trying to keep it real.
Lets see his decision making process when he’s got 5 mad backers in his grill knocking him on his a**. I think it’ll be a little bit more challenging than buffalo.
Hey Jets fans,
I gotta say your defense has looked pretty good this season eventhough they hadn’t been tested like they will this Sunday. Anyway…
I just wanna post some facts, just so you guys have them straight.
Rush Yds. Allowed: Jets = 248 Saints = 201
So you say it’s because teams abandon the run and start passing, so it’s misleading. BUT…
Rush Yds. Per Attempt: Jets = 3.9 Saints = 3.2
…and both teams have been ran on the same amount (63 rushing attempts). Saints are good enough for 5th best in the league. Myth busted!
The Saints rushing offense is good for 2nd in yards and 5th in yards per attempt. Pierre Thomas had 2 rushing TDs and 124 yards on 14 carries in the 2nd half alone after having 2 IVs. But you should really be scared of Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks. Remember these names guys because they are Pro Bowl caliber players and the strength of our offense.
On a side note, Gregg Williams doesn’t run a typical base defense (43 or 34), last week we lined up in a 3-3-5 and Elephant the whole game. They are hybrids between the two. Technically it allows our best playmaker (Vilma) to be in position to make plays.
I think you Jets fans better get your facts and figures straight before running your mouths. Regardless of who wins or loses you are making yourselves look really stupid right now. If you get your heads on straight head on over to Saintsreport.com and join in on some good football talk.
Enjoy the game, although I think we will enjoy it more and 70,000+ of the best fans in all the NFL will ensure that your offense has a hard time. Ask players around the league and a lot of them will tell you the Dome is one of the worst places to play an away game. Danny Clark of the Cowboys said that the opening of Jerry’s Place couldn’t compete with the re-opening of the Dome even though they had 30,000 more people.
Peace out.
Nice team you have Jets fans.
And you think that’s good enough to beat the SAINTS!!
GET REAL
Get ready to cry yourself to sleep on Sunday night – WHO DATS will steal your soul.
WHO DAT SAY DET JETS GOONA EVEN MAKE A DENT.
I give the JETS 10 points tops, and SAINTS role to 35, running, passing, crawling – who cares!
4 turnovers refer to my sharper comment earier
As long as the Jets run the ball and keep time of possession in their favor then it will be a game. If Rex tries to win a shootout then the Jets will be in for a long day. LEts face it the saints have a superior offense we can all agree on that, but I like the Jets’ odds to keep that offense off the field using washington, not thomas jones.
the dome wont be a factor in either teams performance (except if you count homefeild advantage). The jets just have to capitalize on special teams to pull out a win. PERIOD. the new orleans saints’ defense is full of ball hawks ready for another rookie QB. They will get at least another pick this week.
prediction : Saints 28 Jets 17
Hey GBSaint !!
Will you marry me?
19 consecutive teams beat the Lions, I don’t care what stats you put against them frankly.
The Jets have been tested GBSaint..the Texans have a good offense, and the the Patriots are the Patriots. The titans aint too shabby neither. When the worst offense you played is the titans and you are undefeated, your defense has proved themselves.
You beat 2 horrific D’s and a normally good d that got screwed by its offense.
“hiramsaint, on September 30th, 2009 at 5:43 pm Said:
4 turnovers refer to my sharper comment earier” agreed… 2 for shaper… refer to my shaprer will make “franchez” look like his jailhouse B**** comment earlier
Fans talking poo goes both ways . Jets have been down awile and The Saints … well were still trying to get to the big stage .
Both sides are very proud of their teams starting out so well . I like the Jets mainly cause there not in the NFC , Rex and Sanchez seem to be just what that team needed . Just like Payton and Breesus were for the Saints .
Hopefully no injurys and we see each other again in Feb.
But I see payton dialing up some revenge scheme and rock the Jets from the last time Rex was in the dome .
Saints 31
Jets 13
jets will not make it to feb…thats a guarantee
The jets fans sound exactly like the eagles fans prior to the game. There is nothing wrong with a little confidence in your team. Jets fans keep saying the saints have no defense. So mis-informed. Do you guys think this is the same exact defense that was there last year??? It’s just silly to sit here and say the Saints defense sucks when you are totally going on last years performance. Saints are 3rd against the run and 20th against the pass right now. The only reason they are 20th against the pass is because everyone was trying to play catchup in the 3rd and 4th quarter. This should be a great game probably going down to the wire. The jets do look great this year, but i truly believe the Saints are one step ahead.
I’m right here…I can block any saints fan at the touch of a button, but I have chosen not to because I enjoy the insight from fans of other teams.
With that said, this is a jetsblog and nobody wants to hear fans of another team coming here just to rip the team or call us all idiots for thinking they have a chance.
So, while you all may find it hilarious how deluded the Jets fanbase is because they think their team might have a chance in a game, where they are an underdog (and trust me, we all take the Saints very seriously and very few of us are seriously expecting to dominate), it’s really not all that different from Saints fans coming here and saying they expect to dominate the Jets.
At the end of the day, we’re just a group of fans that is passionate about our team like you guys. Regardless of the outcome, you can’t criticize that.
Both sets of fans should be excited at being 3-0 but also wary of the opposition because you don’t get to 3-0 without being capable of finding ways to win…regardless of who you beat.
Now, seriously, let’s enjoy this weekend’s game and continue to debate the strengths and weaknesses of this team without name calling.
After all, we’ll be rooting for the Saints too in weeks 5 and 6.
yesh c’mon breesus
Brees will cry more tears than touchdown passes.
I’m so sad for you JETS fans. Honeslty – I really feel for you. You have no idea what you’re in for. Hey, Mr. “dome will not be a factor” – are you ill or just in a complete state of denia? I almost fell out of my chair when I read that. So I guess this means you would be indifferent if the game were to be moved to a neutral site? Green Rookie QB, but “the dome will not be a factor”. Dude – you need to go for a check up – or at least take some pills or something. When you lose, please don’t take it too hard. You will have lost to the future 2009 NFC champions – so its nothing to be ashamed of!
very well thought out, insightful and at agood time to remind us why we’re here. thanks bent and my apologies
OK – I apologize !
I respect the JETS.
Blog master is right!
The JETS have an excellent team and a bright future!
But they will have their own heads handed to them on a platter when they enter the DOME to meet our beloved New Orleans Saints. IT’s really that simple. Why – because we have Brees and Peyton. Forget all the stats. We believe and we have BREES
He’s not threatening – he’s making a good valid point.
We need to be more polite and more to-the-point.
After all, we’re getting paid good money by our clueless employers to sit in the office and spew this stuff on this blog.
Thanks, guys. We’re proud of our team and this blog/community.
I’d imagine that if you flooded another team’s blog as heavily as this (if you can even find one as heavily trafficked), they’d either hit you with blanket bans or it would descend into a flame war. We don’t want either of those things.
Hopefully, both sets of fans have learned a few things about why this weekend’s opponent is 3-0. I doubt anyone will change their mind on who will win, but that just shows our passion for our teams.
I’m going to put the green pen down now, but I will still be watching, so please do try and keep it civil…that applies to Jets fans too.
without some sort of witty sarcasm i have nothing of value to offer except the final score ………..saints 30 jets 17
p.s. tight game ’till the 4th
saintsfan here
here is to an injury free game. the season is young.
just a clarification. i sw some misinformed jets fans here and want to clear this up.
**saints have more run attempts then pass attemps
**saints are 3rd in the league in rushing
** saints are 5th in the league is rush D
**Jets opp. this year have 3 combined wins.
**saints opp this year have 4 combined wins.
look we all like a good discussion all we ask is that you do a little research first.
cheers.
The Dome is not THE factor…thats what you need to understand. Its not gonna be THE reason we win or lose. We proved we can handle a dome in Houston (the roof was closed btw). Thats where that came from. Field surface doesnt make a difference…we play on turf at home as well…Nawlins fans will be loud, no question about it. and your dome is not the same as in Houston, dont get me wrong, especially the fans…you guys will be a little more of a factor than the Texans crowd. Im just saying, if Sanchez fails, its gonna be b/c of the defense, not the opposing fans.
looks like we finally have lance moore back. another wr weapon for brees against your hurting secondary
how is brees going to light up the scoreboard when he doesnt have enough time to throw?
the saints dont have a gamebreaking running back like the titans did in chris johnson. because of this, you will see the jets baiting the saints to run with the 3-3-5 much like the game vs pats…and when the saints dont run, you will see brees blitzed into mediocrity
jets win an unexpected defensive battle 17-14
i agree with the dome thing. i think the whole home field thing is a bit over rated in the NFL. it only takes one play for it to become neutral territory.
i honestly dont know who will win, sure i want the saints to win but i think it can go either way.
This game comes down to Sanchez. He is a rookie. Thats kind of a big deal when playing a potent offense. Can he play in a high-scoring game? Who knows. So far he’s been able to do just enough for our offense to take the lead and our defense closes it out. Brees will have his hands full but he’ll make his plays. He’ll put up some points. Its gonna come down to whether Sanchez limits his mistakes or not. He’s going to need to help our defense out by sustaining some drives….either way, i think its gonna be a lot closer than “yall” expect.
“the saints dont have a gamebreaking running back like the titans did in chris johnson. because of this, you will see the jets baiting the saints to run with the 3-3-5 much like the game vs pats…and when the saints dont run, you will see brees blitzed into mediocrity”
– your right, saints have 2. bell and thomas. you dont average 170 ypg rushing with bad rb’s.
gamebreaking runnig back? 124yds 2td’s all in the second half coming off the flu. your a joke diego
sorry ….meant that for give leon the ball
diego
enough with the comparing the schedules nonsense, especially since you guys played the lions with a rookie making his first career start. before the season started, any unbiased and intelligent football fan would take, in a heartbeat, playing detroit, philly, and buffalo over playing houston, new england and tennessee. you cannot even dispute that. it’s just pure nonsense if you do.
anyway, regardless of the fact that the saints have had a weaker schedule to date and played against teams with inexperienced quarterbacks (our Jets as well), doesnt take away from the fact that you guys have a good football team….our is just better!
lol he never said they were bad…you should have read what you quoted. they are not chris johnson, who is one of the fastest Rbs in the league.
Give Leon The Damn Ball,
maybe it is maybe its not…thats why they play the game.
you saints fans are batty if you think your backs are anywhere near as explosive as chris johnson.
diego…now i like that post. we can debate all day back and forth, but you’re right, its meaningless until Sunday
watch some bell, thomas highlights on nfl.com downloads then you can apologize leon
hey star, i mean its just logic my friend.
also, the chris johnson comparisons are pointless. i’m sure we would all agree that AP is better the Chris right? ok..now, saints held AP to 30 yards on 18 carries last year. what does that mean? NOTHING.
any given sunday, anything can happen.
Wow… when I woke up this morning I never would have thought that Saints fans could annoy me as much as Pats fans.
Jets 24 – Saints 21
Green, dont worry next week it will be a different group of fans. I, for one am being as civil as possible here.
oh boy we can be super annoying
who is stoping kris jenkins????
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiJ9lYyj4uQ&feature=PlayList&p=84367D93EEF11954&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=96
this guy is a nightmare. when he’s healthy no one is running on the Jets with success
Thanks for being civil Diego, we can definately all talk football and not act like 5 year olds.
Regardless of the outcome Sunday, it will be a very very good game.
Go JETS!
When we say DOME we aren’t refering to the AstroTurf. Although you might meet the Turf Monster. We are refering to a packed house full of drunkin, screamin til you pass out die hard whodats that will be the 11th man. I don’t think you guts have any idea and if that didn’t make a diffeerence Rex wouldn’t have to call his own teams fans and beg them to be there and be loud. Like Payton said, we won’t HAVE to call our fans. Believe me, part of Rexs plan will be to take the fans out the game early. That’s hard to do against this team because the Saints haven’t trailed in a game yet this season.
GreenMountainMan,
yep, will be a great game. also, its early in the season, we are in different conferences. I just hope for an injury free game. whoever comes out the loser here will still be playing in january imo.
12th man. Sorry
gbsaint it’s the 12th man not 11th
Whatever, talk is cheap, see ya sunday in the Superdome
it’s the excitement of a hpoefully great season gbsaint . i’ve got it myself .year 41 i think
Jftr comparing highlights is stupid. They are what there are, highlights.
Jets have a good team this year, you struck gold with drafting Sanchez, but the Saints are just overall a much better Team, Bell is healthy, so is Thomas, hope for an injury free game on Sunday-on both sides, Good luck Jets fans…
it’ s true with sanchez. y’all could have gotten stafford. he’s ok but should have stayed at georgia for his senior year. i live in ga. now and i’ve watched him in college and he’s not yet ready for the nfl
I will be looking for some of the taint fans come Sunday night. I would assume they are like most of the Pats fans that ran there mouth and then were licking there wounds after the dump our defense took on them…..
I am still stunned the bravado… I mean what has this special offense done other then come up zero when it mattered. These guys talk about all of these weapons? Bush? Shockey? Moore? Really These are the weapons we should be concerned about? I like Brees and Colsten but I love Revis and our defense alot better.
Figure out how your going to block the floor of LB’s off the edge and then run your mouth.
The taints are a nice team they have some talent but you would think these guys are Steeler fans with their sh%t talking. Enjoy a good old NY beating and try not to hurt your arm while twirling your umbrellas
I can see how we can be annoying but so are dilusional misinformed fans who don’t arleast acknowledge facts. That’s all I was pointing out. I do think this will be a rather challenging game for both sides and one of the better matchups of this young season. I bet the primetime broadcast wish they would have booked this game. I seen a picture of the press room with Sean Payton and it was a packed house. I hope Drews pink shoes and Reggies pink gloves don’t distract us. Lol.
i’ll bet he ’s ready for that 78 mil. 41 guarenteed lol
wow .you’re really into it huh akadrew
the saints are overall better? really? the only positions i see the saints being superior are at qb and receiver. the jets oline and backs are just as good if not better.
on defense, it’s really not even close. the saints front four is decent, but kris jenkins is a man amongst boys in the nfl. he demands double and triple teams because there is no lineman in the nfl that can block him on his own. furthermore, the jets outclass the saints in the secondary and especially at linebackers.
we may be the taints……….your on one side , your teams on the other side . figure it out .you just got sonned drew lol
Just a big Jet fan amused by the fired up taint fans trying to convince themselves how great their team is.
I try and be respectful to the opposing fans that come here and flap their lips but I have never met a bunch of bigger clowns.
I am all for sh%t talking as I usually get warned by the moniters of this site but you guys take the cake for the most ridiculous.
please leon your secondary is banged up . read your own blog site
Leon. You will cry the hardest on Sunday. You are a fool and you are talking about a team you have no idea about.
Its always fun when a cat from the South tries to spit fire with me and then begins to explain it and then lol’s his own silly little poem…..
Well played bud if your an 11 year old..
Nice try though
Do all taint fans own those fairy umbrellas that they spin around during the game? There is nothing better than watching the game while twirling a umbrella
a really weak comeback for just gettin’ sonned drew
come on fellow saints fans, just let it be decided on the field. all this trash talk is pointless. footbal talk is one thing but trash talk? why? we dont play the game do we?
AKA. Is that all you got is trash? Any facts? Or just insults directed at Saints fans?
ok guys, here is to a great game. off to pick up my daughter…see ya!
im still getting use to “gettin sonned” and “whosdat”
lol
i got a feelin’ drew’s coming up with something good for us
This is like James Carvill meets Jay Z
AKA you might need to borrow a Whodat umbrella when Drew starts raining TDs on your weak secondary. Lol. Revis can’t cover all our guys. And ask Lito about this Saints team. He’s gotten burned by us in the past.
I believed you discovered the word sonned yesterday and have already mis-used and overplayed it…..
Must feel great that you rushed home from your underpaid Georgia job to come to our site and get handled by the same guy you bagged you yesterday….
Congrats brother…..Enjoy your TV dinner. I hear the Salsbury steak have a cranberry side treat.
This discussion better left to Twitter. Holla @ twitter.com\pfiffmeister83
Taint fans….
I have tried to speak football facts but there are some of you clowns that are ridiculous. This is the 3rd day of nonsense from you guys. I mean I am all for a debate regarding facts but ……
Drew you are a fool!
still weak drew but your startin’ to come around after a serious sonnin’
I would like to hear your facts AKA.
sorry drew , didn’t mean to son you again
Loving the Nawlings fans…We call these guys keyboard tough guys up here…. I should have known better.
You are describing yourself AKA. Your the one slingin it we just have another word for guys like you down here. Lol
The facts are you guys have a very good offesne and an grossly overrated defense.
If we cant get to the QB we are in trouble….If we do you guys are in trouble.
There is no question the secondary being injured hurts us. If we get behind and have to play catch up……Not good.
Our OL is dominant to your DL. There is a chance you might not sniiff Sanchez with the way we protect the QB.
Close game….It all comes down to protecting your golden boy. No J Brown is a problem for you guys.
i guess you’d be the one to know drew
I am not sold on your run game yet…. again J Brown out hurts you guys.
I was impressed that you smoked the Eagles but no Mcnabb comes into play.
There are going to times during this game that either team will have to change the gameplan. Rex has already proved he will do anything to get the QB on the ground……has the Saints figured out what to do if Brees gets hit ….alot?
jets fans don’t know how many of you ever experience being in the dome at its loudest. rex better keep the running backs going .if not mark sanchez will have a very long day !
hisamsaint……you amuse me.
I used to bully guys like you…and then I became an adult and just wished I could show you
sonnin’???
I’m so lame. I have no idea what that means.
Judging by the mood on this message board, I’m guessing it isn’t a compliment.
the texans play in the dome and jets handled it just fine. that place was really loud, especially when the fans were booing their team off the field because of the working the jets handed out
It kind of old and very ghetto…..
Things I chuckle at ……especially from a dude from Georgia
drew, i’m a woman and you probably did try to bully GUYS like me .
the differences here is weeeeee love our saints and we are winners ! i am telling yall its going to be very loud ..
Youre a tranny??? Wonderful. Explains everything!!
only you would think it’s wonderful if i was a tranny. your in the n.y. area so it shouldn’t be hard to fufill your fantasy
What I like best about the dialogue between Saints and Jets fans is that both can appreciate the years of suffering the other has had, and the excitement that the teams are bringing this year. As a Jets fan I think we got a shot as winning just as much as the Saints fans think their team will win. I think this will be a tough game for either team to win and win or loose a 3-1 record is better then most fans expected at the beginning of the season. Thankfully we have at least another 12 games to watch this year.
Come on lady friend…..That was funny…give me a little credit.
I would love to continue our 2 days debate…but I try not to discuss NFL with women. Enjoy the game and you dont need to apologize for your lack of knowledge. The woman line explains it all
i just saw the nfl network bit on our game . seems we’re pretty evenly matched . i’m lookin’ forward to a good game from you guys sunday
I agree Joe. Even when LSU does good it isn’t the same as when the Saints win. I love football season!
Geaux Saints!!!
I am glad we can end on a nice note hiramsaint….
I am glad the NFL network brought you to your senses in what us Jet fans have been saying since Monday.
Protect Brees and you win….Dont protect him….you lose.
good point joe p. whoever looses can at least be thankful it’s not a division loss and there is still 3/4 of a season left . drew , i know a bit more about the saints then you might think . iwas a big jets fan when i was a kid , especially for joe willie white shoes
Drew,
It was funny but she had a pretty good comeback. Even the fans are pretty evenly matched.
I do think Hiramsaint wins by a field goal (aka boobs and a Vjayjay).
…Just sayin.
does anyone remember wahoo mcdaniels or don maynard? i think i got those names right
alright chalmette……………ez………. i’m from metairie . how’d you do for katrina?
agreed….chalmettemark
She wins ……clam always wins,…..lol
see now y’all can’t stop with poon humor . i shoulda stayed anon
Have a great night boys…..( and girls )
I enjoyed it once again.
later drew …i wonder where yor going to town?
I feel like we need to give you a pair of beads. :)
Hey, in college i worked at the N.O. Original Daiquiris on vets and severn.
I’ve been in BR for 10 years but my mom and brothers lost everything. Family pictures…everything!
U?
Ill let you know
What is poon humor? And do the Saints have a blog half as good as TJB we can vist?
i’ve been in ga. for 20 yrs. my sister lost all and moved to knoxville . did you go to uno or where? i sport only lsu gear [especially this week] and saints gear. it drives the falcon people crazy
try nola .com joe
sorry to the blog master about my last
joe ,ithink my explanation for you was inappropriate . you’ll have to figure iy out
Sorry about your sister. Graduated from LSU.
A Tiger/Saints fan in GA…are you taking a lot of abuse?
I hope they win this weekend. Tigers are a shaky #4.
not as shaky as ole miss was. some abuse but not as bad as when the saints play the falcons . my mom went to lsu, dad went to ole miss . i went to uno briefly. i hope we win this weekend too. i’ll be glued to th t.v.
i wonder what the jets fans think of this convo on thier blog
“If there’s been a game so far this season where it looks like Leon could break a big one, this could be that game.”
The exact same thing can be said of Reggie Bush on Punt returns, so be careful what you wish for there Bassett my friend.
For that matter, I would not be surprised to see Courtney Roby return a kick off to the house this season either!
WHO-DAT BABY!?!?!?
If you want real football talk go to saintsreport.com. It’s not a blog but a message board and a very food one at that. You’ll find a very diverse crowd there but you’ll have to sign up to post unlike here.
Me too. The only thing to help pass the time is go online and discuss/argue with the Jet fans…Most of them seem pretty nice.
I have to step away. It’s Bath and supper time.
Talk to you later.
Geaux Saints!!!
see ya mark ………geaux saints
The Jets have the best coverage units in the league, so…no, this isn’t Reggie’s prime time to break one.
Especially when you factor in the fact that the Jets’ punter can’t kick it more than 30yards anyway….(dammit)
I just want to see Bart Scott level Shockey on a slant pattern over the middle.
Its going to be a battle all day.
If the Jets can establish a pass rush (as they have), Brees will panic – and he is not a mobile QB. That leads to INTs which generally results in a big W.
Jets 24 Saints 21
this is the jets, with a rookie qb, lol Brees will light them up in the Dome. Our Defense is no Joke and will give the Rook fits. The only concern I have is with the 3-4 defense from Rex, with Nata (now NO Nata)he got push up the middle and with Bart he got pressure brees (with the ravens), but we will run more and early , with Nicks, Strief, and shockey and they will bulldoze any defense, we can run left side on anyone, jARI IS ALSO VERY GOOD ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I hope we run early and often, right over Bart. Jets O isn’t scary at all. we will get atleast 2 turnovers on them.
Best coverage unit in the league huh?? LOL I almost threw up in my mouth on that one…When you have a white guy playing safety i’m sorry but it ain’t happening. The Eagles have a better secondary and when healthy the Bills are even better than the Jets back
Some of you guys seem educated and some of you sound like you haven’t left your momma’s basement up there in north Jersey.
Pressure? You guys talking about pressure? 4 sacks this year. Against Schaub, Brady and Collins. Brady spent the entire preseason on his back. Schaub is very immobile and Collins is pushing 40…And you have 4 sacks.
Sorry Jet’s fans but you have no idea what is in store for you this Sunday.
You are facing the most explosive well balanced offense in the entire NFL. I respect your defense but I don’t think it’s good enough to keep the Saints from scoring over 20 points in New York don’t think for a minute you can do it in New Orleans.
I respect the talent and the scheme…Scott and Revis are studs but other than those positions you aren’t much better than the Eagles secondary. In fact as a unit the Eagles have a more talented defense. Their numbers are greatly diminished since the assault we put on them two weeks ago. The Saints hung 51 on Green Bays secondary last year which is a better coverage unit than the Jets.
The Titans defense has been TERRIBLE this season and the couldn’t convert 10 straight third downs. Needed a couple of gifts to score enough to even win. The Steelers and Texans lit them up.
The Saints defense right now will be the best defense you’ve played so far.
The Saints faced Jenkins about 14 times when he wasn’t nursing some sort of knee injury and he was dealt with just fine. The Saints have arguably the best guard tandem in the entire NFL and pressure up the middle hasn’t been a major issue thus far.
Yes we are without our starting LT but we are 3-0 without our starting left tackle. You guys should also google Drew Brees passer rating when defense bring 5 or more guys on blitzes it might scare you.
I saw comments about the Saints running backs. Pierre Thomas is much better than Thomas Jones and it’s not even close. Leon Washington wishes he was Reggie Bush.
You are going to have a hard time stopping the Saints offense and here is why…I know you guys shut down a Texans offense and a Patriots offense so far but here is how you’ve done it. Revis took out Andre Johnson and Randy Moss…Without those receivers those offenses are inept to say the least.
Here is the problem with the Saints offense. Take Randy Moss and Andre Johnson and divide their skillset and try to defend it. Colston has better hands than both of them and the size. Not quite as fast but probably a better route runner than both. Lance Moore is a young Marvin Harrison who is one of the best route runners in the league with hands to go with it. Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem can RUN BY ANYONE including Revis or Sheppard(who we made a living torching in ‘06) So if you guys try and double Colston it’ll hurt you..If you think Revis can contain him for an entire game you are crazy no corner in the NFL is that good. Then there is Shockey and that’s a mismatch for any of your LBs or safeties. Throw in Reggie Bush and I promise you Rex Ryan isn’t sleeping much at night.
The only reason Buffalo did anything successful against the pass was because of the wind. Devery Henderson had 3 guys beat in a Cover 2 and the wind beat the ball down. The air conditioning in the dome isn’t that strong and I can promise you there will be at least 40+ yard pass completion against your defense. Besides how successful were they we put up 126 yards in the second half alone.
If you notice I haven’t spent much time on your offense because it’s not impressive to say the least. Buffalo is far more talented on offense. Cotchery isn’t a number 1. Jabari Greer/Tracy Porter will shut him down. Fred Jackson is a better player than Washington or Jones and he was held to nothing.
You guys will have a good season but you aren’t coming to the dome and leaving with a win.
Saints 31
Jets 13
The Eagles are more talented than any team you’ve played so far.
If you dont think we create pressure because we only have 4 sacks, then you have no idea whats in store for you…wow
@ go saints
wow, what a rant…a lot to tackle there (most of it nonsense), but here i go…
1) leonhard isnt good because he is white?! okay pal..that is some ridiculous BS (i’m a black guy fyi). the dude can play and is very physical for his size.
2) here’s a lesson for you since you dont know that much about football..SACKS ARE OVERRATED…see jets/pats game week 2 where brady wasnt sacked, but constantly pressured and hit 23 times
3) Jets secondary…this is the deepest part of the defense..despite what you think it’s very good
4) the titans are better than the lions, the bills, and a mcnabbless eagles team…you’re clueless if you think otherwise
5) kris jenkins…if the saints have to double team jenkins, then he is doing his job…jenks being constantly double and triple teamed means harris and scott running free to wreak havoc
6) Leon Washington led the NFL in all purpose yards last year and went to the probowl…reggie bush wishes he accomplished that
7) i’m tired of this…i lost interest when you said a couple of the saints receivers had better hands than moss and andre johnson….that tells me that you’re nothing but a homer
i dont care how many weapons the saints have because it doesnt matter….the jets have been the best team in the nfl at pressuring the opposing qb…and they will pressure brees…what good are offensive weapons if you guys cant protect the qb?
your oline better come to play or you have no chance
55.9, 53.1, 41.5.
Those aren’t completion percentages, those are the QB ratings of the 3 QB’s that have faced the Jets this year. The defense doesn’t have a good secondary? The Jets have the 5th ranked pass defense this year. The Saints? 22nd. Jets are 3rd in yards allowed and 2nd in points allowed. The Saints? 14th and 10th. Our defense is by far better than any you have faced this season. To say we only have 4 sacks is not to watch the video. They may only have 4 sacks, but they probably are at the top in the league in pressures and knockdowns. We have a lot more than just Scott and Revis. Shaun Ellis is one of the best 3-4 DE’s int he league and he just had his best game last week. David Harris is going to make it to the Pro Bowl this year and you will know him very well by the end of tomorrow. A white guy can’t be a part of a great secondary? Really? The guy is talented and Rex hand picked him from Baltimore after last season when he stepped in for Ed Reed. Kerry Rhodes is one of the best playmaking free safeties in the league and he is having a great season under the new scheme. And you dismiss Kris Jenkins like he was a run of the mill defensive tackle. Um, false. The guy is a beast, and if you single block him this will happen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiJ9lYyj4uQ&feature=player_embedded
See that? A qb pressure and knockdown and a play that lasted 3 seconds without a sack. That’s what the Jets do constantly, a lot of the time with just the standard 4 blockers. It’s where they come from that confuses the offensive line and come Sunday, that’s what you’re going to find out the hard way. Doubt our defense all you want, but this unit is for real, and ready to bring the heat come Sunday.
Bent, why don’t you get a Life don’t tell us or anyone else what we can or cannot say on this sight, & also why don’t you get on this site Monday a.m. or even Sunday p.m. after the Saints whip ya’ll butt & show your little mexican qb where he should be, & that is cleaning out the jock straps of vilma & reggie bush, after a humiliating loss. bye losers
Get a life Sanchez You will be cleaning out vilma & reggies jock strap after the game…..dont miss the plane lol Saints 38 Jets 13 This is our bye lol
Ok seriously how did this who dat get his name green and underlined?
Reggie Bush is a bust. Dave Harris and Bart Scott is better than Vilma
just looked at the saints schedule after this and next weeks games you guys have only 1 game to be worried about and not one game in cold weather…so when you go in the playoffs 13-3 on your high horses you are going to lose because you had no real competition this year…. hate rootin for the giants but after the last couple days i think im going to buy an eli jersey just for oct. 18th and then throw it out
ps… when i said you guys can go 13-3 one of those loses came from the jets WHO DAT!!
Go Saints is STUPID.
LEON WASHINGTON AND TJ are Pro Bowlers Reggie Bush is a bust and Pierre will never be TJ.
bentsapunksaints1
why so angry??if the jets lose we’ll all be here sunday and monday just make sure you come back too if the saints lose…i will make sure to tell sanchez to get a life is there any other jet you want me relay a message too??how do you clean out a jockstrap??i hope vilma dont break his legs trying to stop leon
I have to say Bent has been pretty cool…certainly not a punk. The man is keeping this forum civil.
You stay classy Bent!
Go Saints!!
I’m surprised to learn anyone from Louisiana has been following my music career that closely.
Bent
It looks like you have some fans….lol
ok Bent i apologize for my rude comments last night…. I shouldn’t have said “all” of that but, on the the other hand..No matter who loses it will be a non-conference loss so, Good Luck yall going to need it….talk to ya after the game………………or will you still be on this sight LOL seriously the Saints do have a have a better defense and offense by far, & it wont even be close. Even your web-site says ” Saints 25-19″ which is kind of a low scoring output for the saints & a high one for the jets. My score Saints 34 jets 13 Good Luck guys
Wow do all Jets fans just start writing things without any knowledge? You guys are talking about the way the Saints use to be and not looking at any stats from this year. Saying we have no run game? Um we have the #2 running game in the league right now even with using different RBs. We are one of the few teams in the league whos even close to having a top 10 offense and top 10 defense. We are 5th against the run. Please look up some stats before u just start barking off. We have the biggest point differential in the league. We are second in takeaways with 9 already after being last last year with only 25 all year. Make no mistake these Saints are MUCH different then your use to seeing. And u will see on sunday. Be nice knowing ya …
And how do all u Jets fans even think about saying you can handle Brees and talk about his height???? Look at what the guy has done the last 4 years and the first 3 games and then try to say somethin. He’s outdone every QB in the history of the league over a 4 year strech besides Dan Marino (and he’s done it with 3rd and 4th string WRs most of the time and no running game so the defense even knew he was going to pass it). Please think before u open your mouths with smack talk that has no foundation behind what your saying. He’s the best QB in the league , he will give u guys problems. And all that blitzing u guys do is just gonna open the field up for the smartest QB with the quickest release. You guys are in for a HUGE wakeup call if yall are gonna be that naive about CURRENT stats and not how things have been the last 2 years before….
Remember the last time these Saints played an “elite” blitzing defense ? That would be week 2 against the Eagles , in Philly, the week after they created a league high 5 turnovers and then we hung 48 on em. At least have something to back up your talking instead of just smack talking.
Supercooljetsfan why are u on here? U know nothing about football obviously. The Saints have one of the hardest schedules in the league. We still play Giants, Falcons, Patriots, Falcons, and Cowboys. And even though the Panthers aree 0-3 they are no pushover bud. Now yall on the other hand only have the Pats,Falcons, and Colts . God is the pollution bad up there to where it kills your brain cells that much. Yall just love to run your mouths without thinking.
Jesse – contrary to what you may think, most Jets fans are well aware of how strong the Saints are and acknowledge it’s our toughest game so far, maybe the toughest of the season. Just because one guy happened to mention Drew Brees’ height that doesn’t mean that we all think it’s going to prevent him from being successful.
Personally, I’ve only seen the Saints-Eagles game from this season, but that was enough to show me how dangerous their offense is and they also have playmaking capability in the defense, which their offense usually punished.
Please don’t be so confrontational, because we aim to keep the discussion flowing without just turning into a flame war.
Lets see yall are 3rd in overall D and 20th in overall offense. We are 10th in overall D and 1st in overall offense. You say we cant run the ball yet we are 2nd in rushing and yall are 11th. You say we cant stop the run yet we are 5th at rushing defense and yall are 9th.You say your defense is more aggressive and better yet we have more takeaways then you and we have more 3 and outs then yall…..
Bent have you not read all the comments or something? A Saints fan would just stat how tough the game is gonna be and a few different Jets fans keep saying all the stuff i just pointed out. Its not just from that one guy mentioning Brees’s height, its been quite a few. My comments are directed at those Jets fans. Im glad that you see the football side of things and not just a hometown fans side with his blinders on.
*state*
I have read all the comments, (that’s my job!)
Obviously there’s been a lot of back and forth here, (which has been fun), but I can tell you that the majority of fans have been looking ahead to the Saints game with trepidation since the schedule was announced. The fact that we have surprisingly begun the season 3-0 may have us a bit more bullish than we would normally be, but we do respect the Saints. We like our team too, so hopefully whatever happens will be a good test to prepare both teams for the rest of the year.
Other than this game, I’ll be rooting for the Saints most of the year, since you play the Pats, Dolphins, Giants, John Abraham’s team and so on…
I see a lot of trash-talk, but we don’t play the game, our respective teams do. It is going to be a very tough game, but ultimately I believe the home field advantage will be the difference. I wish you luck and hope neither team suffers serious injury. GEAUX SAINTS!
gives us some good blog spots for the Dolphins and def. the Pats (we’ll flood that one)!!!! Oh and Giants too!!!
We couldn’t possibly condone such practice!
Maybe you can come here and we’ll all enjoy being on the same side for a change
If it doesn’t go well for your Jets……. you can always look forward to a rematch in Feb!!!!
I love the comment by NJets
Moss better than Colston, True
Welker better than Meachm, True
Watson as good as Shockey, True
My prob is with him saying Bush is our 2.
Colston 15 grabs 195 3tds. We have a guy named Devery Henderson who has 11 grabs for 214 1td. Bush has 11 for 114. Meachm who he tried to compare to Welker has 3 for 62 and 1td. Lance Moore will be back on sunday. I’m sure he has not heard of him. He only had 79 grabs for 928 yds and 10 tds last year. BUT BUSH IS OUR 2.
You have no clue what your talking about
I’m honestly not that afraid of the Saints. Their defense is terrible, not much different than last year. I don’t care how good that offense is. The Lions, Eagles (without McNabb), and Bills are NOT a challenge. There is a reason the Saints went 8-8 last year and missed the playoffs, yet all the Saints fans coming to our blog make their offense seem unbeatable (the blitz and get beat, play back and get dumped off on) thing is so stupid! Not only will the Saints fail to score 30+, they’ll fail to contain our offense. There is NOTHING scary about that defense and while I acknowledge the greatness of their offense, we saw that last year it allowed half of the teams they played to beat them.
Should make for an interesting game. I love how nobody picks the Jets. Will only be sweeter when we pull off the victory and all the ESPN analysts are in awe. But then again, I’ll probably tune in to Jets Xtra Point. ESPN is garbage!
defence is terrible?do you even watch football daniel?
hiramsaint,
Don’t you have anything better to do then hang out on a Jets blog? Maybe you should start your own Saints blog.
Also, I find it hilarioius that you come here to talk trash. The Jets may not have been the best organization over the last 25 years, but one of the few teams more sorry then the Jets over that time period as been the Saints. Enjoy it while you can, because once there is no salary cap next year it will only be a matter of time before there is no NFL team in New Orleans.
So where all you Jets fans now? Talkin all that trash. Tellin u you can not mess with my Saints this year. Their D is unbelievable…..
Haha…I’m surprised you found this thread. It’s been days since it was even visible on the homepage. Us Jet fans are responding to the more recent posts…i.e., ones that actually matter.
We can mess with your Saints…I think we proved that yesterday. Our defense was too much for your offense. Apparently, that was also the case vice versa. Your defense was impressive. But like I said all last week, this game was going to come down to Mark Sanchez and the mistakes he would or would not make.
And thats what happened. Our defense kept us in the game repeatedly. Mark showed his rookie self…What else can I say? Your defense played great. You guys won. End of Story…Best of luck against the best team in the NFC in 2 weeks.
Good call on that Saints D Daniel. 3 ints. Your right they are terrible.
Why is it “Mark Sanchez and the mistakes he would or would not make. ” and not the Saints D causing those mistakes. Any QB could get stripped from behind like that , it was OUR defense that did it not Mark Sanchez not doing something. The reason i came back to this one if u had read all the posts is because there was some of u Jets fans saying “ok well come back here on monday after we whoop yall and talk trash” so i just wanted to see if any of yall showed back up after we shoved that foot in your mouths. So pround of my boys for that stomping we put on a good jets team…
I can confidently say for the first time in my lifetime that the Saints are the best team in the NFL!!!
The Giants wish they were the best team in the NFC. No team creates as many turnovers as the Saints and when you can do that and pair it up with the offense we have it makes you almost unstopable. If they can keep forcing takeaways like they are doing i honestly dont know who can beat them…
*proud*
Yeha not to mention Jay Reed that the Saints D leads the league in hitting the QB and takeaways. Man they are bad…
