Suggestion Box: TJB Radio Show
Posted on October 3rd, 2009 by Corey Griffin
Hey guys, we’re six episodes into the exeriment known as the TJB Radio Show, and it seem slike a good time to re-evaluate and see what we can work on and what suggestions you guys have the show.
We’re getting some good e-mails and some good chat questions, but no call-ins. What’s up with that? What do you guys suggest to make the show easier for you to communicate with me?
Do you guys want the show to be longer/shorter?
What’s up guys? Fill up the suggestion box and let me know what you want.

Hey Corey,
I think the show is a great idea and I think it has a lot of potential. I have two suggestions:
1. Talk about more things that fly under the radar from week to week
2. Make it 30 minutes long instead of an hour
can we put a live feed here on the blog, or is that already in place?
i think make the show 2 hours long and make a set part of the show (ex.last half hour) the time when listener’s questions are answered.
Great show corey.
Corey I like the show but if I have one suggestion it would be to NOT have call-ins and only use questions posed during the preview thread here. Like say TJB radio show is on tonight @ 8-post your questions to Corey in this blog thread
Show is great, listened to it twice this week which made me think you should do two 1hr shows a week, call in’s will come. Tlk to some guys at sny about getting more guest spots.
Corey – I listen to all the Jet shows like Podcast and Prime sports network – I hear the show struggling and I hope it succeeds – too long and need guests as it is too hard for you to generate interesting copy solo and for 1 hour. Maybe Basset/Bent come on for a segment – and a structured format – 5 keys; dpoW, opow .. 3 keys to upcoming.
This sums it up – I remember you were excited about a call in only to find it was for the Mets by mistake. You dragged a question out of him and later praised the quality of the question …. trying hard sometimes sounds a little hokie …
Id make reference to some of the posts made throughout the week on the blog that caught your attention. We have some great comments that have raised some nice topics for you to elaborate on the show. Otherwise, well done Corey.
Thinking about it further – setting yourself up for a call in lowers the general quality – anticipation, disappointment, bad call, moron …. Best to answer good jet emailed questions around a guest and structured segment.. No questions, shorter show. Better quality …
i tried to listen to the last one but i kept getting the august podcast what the hell did i do wrong?????
Would love to see the poster who posts the TJB “Comment of the week” invited on for a 5 minute spot as a guest.
Make it shorter if it’s not too much to ask try to get a Jet player, I know that Kerry reads TJB maybe others read it to.
Fans listen to radio shows for two reasons:
1) The host makes interesting or debatable arguments
Solution: bring in knowledgeable guests and players. Don’t take live calls and cherry pick the best email questions/comments. Hold actual debates.
2) The show provides analysis of the team and the games that the fans don’t already consider
Solution: talk about matchups that haven’t been discussed. Talk about coaching strategy.
This is all stuff that the blog already does to some degree, so it’ll work in the show.
Keep it up!
1/2 hour….. and dont discuss the big topics as much as the smaller ones…. more rumors and ideas…. the big topics everyone already knows about from reading this blog!
