Correct. Derek Wake is a guy who had a 5th round grade after a strong combine and an even better pro day but was not drafted. At that time he was only 236 pounds so really only on the radar of 4-3 teams unless as a long term prospect.

The giants released him after having picked him up as a udfa and he was dominant in cfl. We don't get cfl in the uk any more, but I did see him destroy the Argos for 3 sacks in the season opener in 2007.

In college he was productive, as a 4-3 olb and de on passing downs, but was overshadowed by hali and posluszny.

Cam Wake did very well in the CFL. I cannot remember what his actual first name is but IIRC Cam is his middle name for those trying to find his college stats. I think he was a bit of a late bloomer. I also think he may have been in some NFL team's camp before he went to the CFL but not being a BC Lions fan, I don't know which.

I am a long time Canadian Steelers fan. I started cheering for them before they drafted Franco Harris. Between my teen-age sons growing interest in football (one is a Jets fan and the other cheers for the Packers) and my own interest in players with Canadian connections in the NFL I started reading various blogs about Canadian rookies in the NFL (Jamaal Westerman, Vaughn Martin and Jamaal Lee) as well as following Izzy Idonije (who went to University here).

This is my first time posting here. It is a great blog with a lot of great contributors and commentors.

I think Damien and lito both questionable, but damien is expected to play, lito is iffy. strickland is almost definitely out. j-co also questionable with a hammy but the recovery extra day won't hurt.
