Tampering Update: “No Knowledge”
Before Goodell was even able to dial Deion Sanders number, Sanders stated that the 49ers were the ones who said that two teams were interested in Crabtree and he had no knowledge what so ever of tampering by New York.
The truth, Deion Sanders said, is that he has no knowledge of any tampering by the New York Jets in the San Francisco 49ers‘ negotiations with the wide receiver, drafted 10th overall in the 2009 draft.
… “… Eugene Parker told me. That was my source. Eugene Parker told me that the San Francisco 49ers told him there were two teams that were going to trade for Crabtree but, guess what, we’re not going to trade him,” Sanders said in the interview.
… “I’m confused why there’s an investigation on Dez Bryant as well as Michael Crabtree. It seems like it all points back to Eugene. I think people are upset with his success. I’m elated about it, but I’m not helping him in any means. He has seven first-round picks in the last two years. I don’t know not one of them. Check the record. I didn’t even introduce Eugene to Michael Crabtree. You know how Eugene got Michael Crabtree? By Larry Fitzgerald. It’s common sense,” Sanders said in the interview.
While everyone continues to point fingers, I’m still trying to figure out why the 49ers would file these charges if they allegedly told Parker two teams were interested in the first place (I’m skeptic about that statement though). Nothing seems to make sense anymore but it seems that the Jets will be cleared of the charges which is good news for us fans and Mr. T.

Maybe we should get a pick from the 49ers for making baseless accusations against us.
Teams shouldn’t be able throw out accusations for the sake of contract negotiations.

Yea, I mean how could they even prove the Jets did tamper anyway? 49ers just dragged us threw the mud bc they were pissed that Crabtree was so difficult to negotiate with…
hopefully we are cleared of these charges and if we are we should get a pick from the 49ers for making us look bad and possibly having teams not want to do business with us in the future thinking we are trying to steal draft picks….remember that article that was posted on this site saying how this was worse than spygate and had a couple gm’s labasting the jets and mr t in that article

SOme people felt that SF filed the charge to send a message to Crabtree that there was simply no way he ws going be allowed to go to another team.
just went to a 49er site and alot of there fans think sanders is lyin and these tampering charges will stick hopefully they are wrong

haaha thanks mel….you can tell braylon really hated cleveland and mangini from that vid thas why i suspect hes gonna do good overhere…the only thing i dont like is i almost think he gave up in cleveland and if true that stuff aint gonna fly over here
Seeing Braylon that comfortable around some of the Jets nucleus players is a very good sign.I’m optimistic that with the repore he has with this player will keep him on the straight and narrow….If he cures the drops issue Edwards will be that #1 wideout that we have be craving for for years to come…Yes i know he is only signed through the remainder of ‘09 but if he likes the players,coaching staff,and area he is living in this could be a great dynamic player that the Jets have needed and can reshape that ideal that the Jets are going to be a defensive/run first team…Can’t wait until Sunday to schewer some Dolphin…JETS FAN FOR LIFE…

cant wait for tomorrow to see calvins and braylons first game back or as a jet…i have feeling calvin is gonna be flying all over the place…we are 3-1 so maybe this calvin suspension wasnt that bad because hes gonna be well rested and ready to go…hopefully braylon caught on quick cause with cotch not at 100% we actually gonna need him

There absolutely IS a penalty for “crying wolf”…teams were warned in a memo sent round by the NFL in May 2009 not to make frivilous tampering claims.
However, I wouldn’t get too excited because (a) the Niners must have had some grounds to file a complaint because it would be counter-intuitive to file a claim knowing they face a possible penalty just to fire a shot across the bow of Crabtree or any other team and (b) even if they were penalized, I’m pretty certain they’d lose a pick or be fined money, but the Jets would not be compensated.
There was more for San Francisco to gain, i.e. applying more leverage on Crabtree and Eugene Parker by filing the phony tampering charge against the Jets, than there was potential benefit for the jets by tampering with Crabtree.
i dont want sound petty but 49ers are guilty of crying wolf or making this up about us and they do lose a draftpick we should get it because people were killing us in the news and were making us look real bad…if at the time of thgem filing charges noone made a big deal or didnt assume we did tamper cause we did need a wr at the time i wouldnt care but you all heard what was beeing said about us
