I'm not ready to get too upset by that loss.

We played last year's division winner at their place on Monday night against their most hated rival (us). They have the number one running offense. Everything was lined up for them and they were obviously far hungrier than our somewhat overconfident selves.

But we fought hard and damn near pulled out a win on the road on Monday night, a very, very difficult thing to do under any circumstances.

The D played pretty badly, but we still had a chance late in the 4th.

I don't understand why you guys think it was such a disaster. You can't just roll your helmets out and get a win in the NFL.

If you think we have 'easy' games the next few weeks, I'd say you don't know s**t about the NFL. If you don't show up hungry and prepared for ANY team in the NFL you _will_ lose. Period. For reference, see last night.

So, enough moping and crying. We got beat by a good football team at their place in what is probably their most important regular season game this year. Chalk up the loss, and move on. Every team loses sometimes. Try not to read too much into it folks.

Wise old jet fan,

seems like youre searching for something to criticize Edwards for. He was excellent last night, and he opened up the running game which was very good against the leagues 2nd ranked run defense.

I dont think Bryan Thomas is a BAD player, he wasnt a force last year but i see him near a lot of running plays this year. He made a nice tackle for a loss on Ricky Williams in last night's game.

As for Ellis, i cant hide that he is one of my favorite players, but he has been quiet so far this year. He needs a little help with a corner blitz or some different qb-rush packages. But he has been the most consistent and healthy defender on our team for like 8 years.

The point is that we have the personnel but where is the pressure we heard so much about? the blitzes and pressures need to start turning into SACKS and TACKLES FOR LOSSES. Jenkins needs to stand his ground for the running plays because teams run around him, you cant send him after the qb on every play, he gets gassed too.
Scheme needs to adjust which im sure Rex (unlike Mangini) will follow up on.

I HATE gimmick plays and teams that over use them!!

The defense stunk! The only one who seemed to be playing on that side of the ball last night was Kris Jenkins. He is the only player on this defense I truly feel bad for after the embarrassing loss to Miami!

This was just sad!

Edwards did have a great game providing hope for the future, but did anyone else notice his selfish idiotic pre game behavior, joking around during stretching with his uni top pull way up under his armpits.

Screaming out "me first" behavior, horrible first impression. "Look at me, I want attention!!!"

Great impression on the field, but his pre game behavior is a real red flag going forward.

If he cant buy into the team aspect of the game even before his first play, how is he going to act now that he is the toast of NY?

I was giving him the benefit of a doubt, a clean slate, but he already has one notch against him after one game. He is a jerk that will get into trouble sooner rather than later in this town.

I have fullfilled my rant quota, even a positive post went all negative, need antoher cup of coffee.

While I was very sarcastic above and very disappointed because I bought into the Kool-Aid (when will I learn???), a more level headed type fan than I would point out they can still turn this around the next two weeks against inferior types and set themselves up for a playoff run.

Preseason, I said 3-2 would make me very happy so I have to stand by that, its just the way they have gotten there tears your heart out.

I never like the talking, the media loves this crap but in life this just creates bad karma. Rex's dad never won a thing as a head coach, he should not try so hard to emulate him.

Rex does not have Ray Lewis, Suggs and Ed Reed, and Baltimore suddenly looks beatable without Scott (who seems to be trying to do TOO much, just be yourself), Leonhard and Douglass (although I am not sure what exactly he does anyway).

The some of the whole may just have been greater than the parts.

Kyle, Henne played for Michigan... not really a no-name school... was well regarded coming out of high school... enough to play in the Army All-American Bowl... was ehh in college... always had a penchant for releasing the ball low and bouncing it off the back of his oline's heads or getting it batted down. However, was good enough to be taken in the 2nd round. Not really an out of the blue moment here.
