We need sheppard and Strickland back. They are so important to our defense. As for the offense, we may need another big game from Braylon Edwards if Smith and Cotchery are inactive Sunday. I expect nothing less than a HUGE victory over a bad Buffalo team on Sunday. Time to step up!
Although the defense played horrendously on monday night, we could have still won the game or overtime had it not been for Coleman and Lowrey.
From the 30 yard line with under a minute to go, they complete a 3rd down against coleman. Then the big completion inside the 10 on 3rd down against Lowrey.
We need Sheppard back, especially given his experience against Owens.
I may have to start worrying, if the Jets don’t crush the Bills.
I wonder if the return of Shepard and Strickland will rejuvenate the defense and give them a confidence boost.
All this talk about Cotchery and Ellis and our banged up players maybe coming back, and I forgot about the Bills injuries — losing Mitchell and Buggs is a huge factor for this game, and for the overall psyche of the team. If Whitner, Scott and Poslusky don’t come back for them, the Jets should be able to really put up some major points.
Bassett.-Didn’t see Clowney on the list but he went down in this game..Is he practicing this week??Just wondering with Cotch still not 100% is Clowney in shape to play against the Bills..Short week for preping for the Bills…Hope this defense has the time to be well prepared for another team with its back against the wall needing a win badly…
He just had cramp. He returned to the game and should be 100%.
Yikes. Figures that when we finally trade for a deep threat WR, we lose our previous #1-#3 WRs (obviously Stuckey had to be traded, but nevertheless). Considering that, and considering that the Bills are pretty good against the pass and awful against the run, if there were ever a week to pound TJ/Leon/Shonn and see whether our running game really is as good as we thought, this would seem to be it.
Also, Bills fans are expecting Posluszny to play.
Ronnie:
I don’t think it fair to single out Lowery and Coleman. They were part of the problem. You can easily blame Revis, Rhodes and Leonard for blowing the game. If anyone on the defense would have stepped up and made a play on the last drive the jets could have won. Obviously the defensive scheme and and execution wasn’t good enough. Miami did exactly what everybody expected them to do, run the ball. You have to give them credit and figure out a way to correct what went wrong. It would be nice if the defense could generate a pass rush and maybe sack the QB once in a while.
I am not blaming the loss on Coleman or Lowrey. But because of them, the Dolphins were able to extend their final drive to a) score a touchdown to take the lead b) take a bunch of time off the clock.
On the 3rd down play with Coleman, had we stopped them there, the Dolphins would’ve had to hit a 40+ yard FG juts to tie the game. Even if they made it, we would’ve had about a minute to try and setup for a GW FG of our own.
1st and foremost, if the jets are to defeat the bills…..they have to RUN THE FOOTBALL!!!!
Have the agree with Johnny here.
I can comeback and say “if Revis didn’t get burned by Ginn the Jets would have continued the momentum after the Braylon Catch” or “If the Jets got a decent pass rush on the rollout by Henne he would have never had the time to make that play- you cant expect CB’s to cover for that long”
The problem with defense had little to do with Lito and Strickland being out- the front 7 got manhandled and the LB’s couldnt make a tackle.
Anyone seein us pickn up a wr this week if cotch nd smith cantgo this week..?
terrell owens is available.
