On the Bills not having a good record but presenting challenges…

Miami didn’t have a good record either. In this league, the hardest thing to do is to win a game on the road. You can’t look at an opponent’s record. They are all professionals. The last time I checked, they have some great players. They have two great receivers. We faced two tough backs last week and we’ll face equally the same task. You talk about Marshawn Lynch, he has 11 balls caught in two games. You have to pay attention to those guys.

On how the defense can improve…

We’re going to go back to the fundamentals. We’ll do what we did for the first four weeks of this season. We put four solid performances together. We had a lapse, but like I said before, I’ve been a part of this before. This time last year, maybe a couple of weeks later, I came up to New York and got embarrassed by the New York Giants as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. If was a tough outing. They almost ran for 300 yards. But we finished second in rushing because we tightened it down and went back to the fundamentals. We came back a better team. You either come back and respond to this or you go down and start pointing fingers and falling apart.

New York Jets S Kerry Rhodes, 10.14

On what stands out about Monday night’s game that can be improved…

We gave up a lot on third down. We’ve done a great job of getting on them on third down all year, but we didn’t do a good job of it at Miami. That just shows how big third downs are.

On what has to change to get sacks…

We have to get pressure on the quarterback. We have to get there, first of all. When you get your opportunities, make sure you take advantage of that. I think you just have to take advantage of it.

On the key to stopping Buffalo’s offense…

They have a lot of weapons. They haven’t been doing a good job of scoring. They have weapons so you have to be aware of that and make sure you’re not the team that they break out on.

Well said. Everybody gets one. Sanchez got his pass against New Orleans, Rex and the D get theirs for the Miami game. As long as they come out and shut down the Bills on Sunday like they should, all is forgiven.

  2. My concern is our D wearing down in the 4th Quarter. 21 points to Miami’s “high school” offense and the down linemen getting pushed back in the last few minutes can indicate they’re exhausted. All the more reason Rex should’ve used his timeouts to give them a blow as well as stopping the clock. We also gave up a 4Q TD to the Saints, but that was understandable since they were on the field all day long.

I just hope giving up 4Q scores doesn’t become a trend that will destroy this season. Let’s take care of business vs the Bills.

How come NO ONE in New York is running Kris Jenkins quotes after MNF”s game ? Read on:

****Here is what Kris Jenkins had to say****

” Kris Jenkins thinks it may be time to take a step back from the chatter and save some energy for the field.

“It makes us look like as long as the coach is saying something and the guys are running their mouths then everything is good,” Jenkins told SNY’s Steve Overmyer after the team’s 31-27 loss to the Dolphins last night. “The time to be talking is with your pads and nobody did.”

The Dolphins amassed 413 yards against Ryan’s once top-ranked defense last night in the AFC East showdown that dropped the Jets into a tie for first with the Patriots. It was the Jets’ second straight loss after a 3-0 start under Ryan in his rookie season as coach.

He and Scott in particular were not shy about boasting how well the team was playing. Ryan took blame for not having his defense prepared Monday, and Scott had his worst game since joining the Jets.

“Everybody talked when it came to running their mouth in the paper. When we were winning everyone was talking about how good we’ve been doing and ‘Look at me,’ but when we lose nobody got nothing to say,” Jenkins said. “My feelings are hurt because a lot of people consider me a team leader, but I don’t want to hang my hat on that. I don’t want to hang my hat on games where guys aren’t playing together and stuff like that.

“And I have to take a responsibility, too. Maybe I am not doing something. Maybe I got something to work on as well.”

Ryan said he did not have his team ready for the Dolphins’ Wildcat formation.

“I think the preparation was great,” Jenkins said. “I think we just laid an egg. I think that was it. It’s definitely gut-check time and I guess we got a dose of shut up, that’s why I can’t talk. I can’t even find the words for this.”

  4. READY to move past this loss…and focus on staying at the top of our division…. Ryan is beating himself up…..I am sure…SO, this week the JETS should show much improvement…On this blog during preseason, some JETS fans didn’t think we would even be 3-2….by week 5…..so STOP hating…it’s anyone’s game EVERY week but feel as if JETS will be more determined then EVER after these back to back losses….bring on the BILLS….

  5. I was amazed at how obvious it was what plays the Dolphins ran. I was even more amazed at how Rex didnt change his gameplan for it.

If anyone distinctly remembers he played a 46 with Rhodes at the line and it stopped the Wildcat, and forced Miami in a 3rd and long situation, blitz then punt.

After that series it seemed he had amnesia and then never called it again. Also it was obvious when Miami passed when their QB lined up behind center.

  6. I think everyone needs to relax…When we win everyone get too high and when we lose everyone gets too low and starts pointing fingers and hate’n…There is alot more football left to play and these past two games are a harsh reality check for this Jets team that any team can win on any given Sunday no matter how good or bad people think u are….The Bills will come to play some hard nosed football as their backs are against the wall also…Rex and this team realize that and they will not overlook this Bills team like they did in Miami…We cannot afford another divisional loss and the whole Jets organization realizes that…

  7. hey guys lets remember where they played that they were “tired in the 4th quater “. if you look at the indy game there d was gasping for air in the 4th. it’s south florida it’s hot and humid. dolphins lose big in three weeks in fact we probably end there season.
