OK, not really, but look at this quote and I think you’ll see what I mean.
Are the Jets looking forward to getting out there and taking out their frustration on another team? Sure sounds like it according to Cimini in the Daily News.
Ostensibly, the Jets shifted their focus to the next opponent, the struggling Bills, but the raw emotions of the Dolphins debacle still were fresh. Rex Ryan, taking the fourth-quarter meltdown as a personal insult, lashed into the defense behind closed doors, according to several players.
“When you see him emotional that way, you know you were pretty pathetic,” said safety Kerry Rhodes, who described Ryan’s rant as “PG-13 . It wasn’t R-rated, but there were a few more expletives than PG-13.”
If Ryan is trying to use Monday night’s loss to galvanize his defense, it seems to be working. Linebacker Bart Scott, coming off his worst game as a Jet, described a heightened sense of urgency in the locker room.
“Damn straight, there is,” he said. “(Monday night) was the one time we had this year to show the world what type of team we are, and now they believe we’re something else…. I can’t wait to hit somebody. I can’t wait to step out there and see somebody in another jersey, so I can take all this pain and all this embarrassment I’m feeling and inflict it on someone else.”
If the team wants the rest of the league to know that this team is legitimate, then this has to be a “bounce back” game for the Jets. All great teams are famous for it during their heydays. No squeakers, no last minute heroics … no fumble recoveries scooped up at the last minute on an obvious running down that was played as a pass … out and out domination, that’s what they have to prove to the league and the world if they want to continue to be held up as the highly thought of team they themselves think they are.

Nice Abram Elam reference.
Yes, the win is all that matters, but I would feel alot better if we can dominate this game. We’re playing a team that should not be in it for W come the 4th Quarter. The Bills have no business staying in this game. I know they have talent. But we have more talent. This really is a game I want to dominate. I want this game to be over at halftime.

Posted this is another thread, but I sadly expect this team to lose this week.
I want to believe this team is different, but what I saw Monday night was the same type of thing I’ve seen for decades now — teasing us with being able to take it to the next level and leave “the same old” junk behind, but ultimately proving they’ve earned “the same old” tag year after year.
Too much talk, too much hype, too much bravado, not enough actual tackling, sacks, turnovers or plays made when it matters. I want to be wrong, but I don’t see enough consistency from this team week in and week out to make me think it’s destined for anything better than 8-8.
This week has classic Jets collapse written all over it, where they get bested by a struggling team lead by a marginal quarterback coming off a horrible performance. We’ve all seen it year after year after year. If maybe they had taken care of the Dolphins, I’d believe otherwise, but for now, it’s still the same old Jets.

masterfull, if they understan that ,then they are on their way.
What the Jets D did Monday was nothing but give up.
Quick story: I remeber play basketball with a friend that had me by 3″ and 40 pounds. He would post me up and back me down and score on 3-4 strait plays. After not being able to stop him or poke the ball away, i kinda drifted off in the game and prtty much quit. I realized towerd the end of the game that that was his plan and stepped up, played harder and helped win the game. The jets wanted no part of the wildcat and wanted it to go away. well my friends, youll have to find away around it.

R in CT,
Same ol jets and same ol fans…. Your attitude doesnt help.
You are only 1 person but your attitude is shared by many Jets fans and i think its not too kool. Let us believe in our team and maybe things can be different.
Self-fullfilling prophecy. I am sure all the players read all the garbage written by all the newspapers and eventually, they start to act upon it.
All im saying is get a hold of yourself. It is only week 6 and we are in the lead of our division.

Agree with Najy,
The high’s and low’s of the fanbase are schizo.
We all wanted REX, We all wanted this kind of Defense,
Let’s support the guys after they have a down game.

i’ll just take a W.
i’d much prefer to be firing on all cylinders in december, not october. and it’s very hard to keep a high level of play for 4 months.
yeah, i said 4. as in january.

The best way to improve the D is as usual, control the clock. Despite putting up all those points, the Dolphins controlled the clock via their superior running game. It is time to get Shonne Greene going in this game. We didn’t draft him for a couple series, granted he is looking a little frail at times, but let’s get him some serious touches. Thomas Jones, sorry bud, you are reminding me of Eddie George’s 2nd to last season.
We keep the ball, then we keep Big Jinx fresh and the swarming can continue.. let’s just hop Sir Goth keeps his mouth shut and doesn’t miss anymore tackles. -
Scott seems to be pressing to me, trying way TOO hard to live up to his own bravado, often shooting the gap and ending up out of position.
He needs to settle down and play within the system instead of trying to be Ray Lewis.
Oh yeah, a self imposed media boycott might help too.

NY is a place of extremes. Reasonable people are hard to find. There are many here, but there are also some here that aren’t.
It’s gonna be the Same Ole Jets if you keep thinking that. Why else would it be different? IF you keep looking for something to criticize or be depressed about then every year you’ll have a reason to support the Same Ole Jets.
Theres new blood in our roster and coaching staff. They are hungry and confidant. I support this team and I understand the season is a marathon. We can’t be so extreme. Thats one thing I’ve actually learned from Belichick. The guy doesn’t panic, as much as a horrible human being he is, He understand you need to keep the team even keeled even while making adjustments. I think Rex understands that. Mangini didn’t know what the word “adjust” even meant.

Thanks Bent for helping out. I wasn’t sure what happened. I started using a different email which worked, but my original one works again now as well.

Neville,
Actually, the Jets did a good job in terms of time of possession, the Fins held the ball for over 5 minutes at the end and that’s what tilted TOP in their favor. The Jets’ problem was when they dominated in the 2nd quarter, they couldn’t score TDs.

It’s funny how some fans are already giving up on this team after a 3 – 2 start! It’s so funny it’s stupid. The Phins are a good team in spite of their record. In one game, they would have beaten the Colts (considered the top team in football today) if it wasn’t for Peyton Manning’s genius!
Just take it one game at a time. No point in predicating the results of the entire season based on one game! That’s just so dumb.

to defend R, he is one of the most optimistic Jets fans I have ever known (maybe that’s not saying a lot since you know … he’s still a Jets fan … lol)

I think they should worry about winning the game and not worry about taking their anger out on the Buffalo Bills. A win is a win is a win. Sure it would be nice to see them dominate the game in all three phases and win big, but I think one reason why they are so embarrassed is that they thought they would shut down Miami. That didn’t happen. Who would of thought the offense would score 27 pts have no turnovers, the special teams would be successful on two fake punts and they would lose teh game.
They should take a good look at themselves and realize that there are no easy games in this league. Play sound football and the wins will come.
