New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards, 10.14

On the chemistry with Mark Sanchez…

The biggest thing for me is that Mark (Sanchez) is just loose. It’s so hard to find quarterbacks that are loose in this league and the few that are are great quarterbacks. They understand the game, they’re loose and they play confident. Him playing loose and confident allows me to go out there and do what I do. Play hard, play loose myself and to get guys on the same page right away is great. That is good for the future.
On if there were any moments of indecision…
I felt pretty good out here. I don’t think there were too many moments of indecision. On the one or two I might have had, Jerricho (Cotchery) was in the slot and reminding me. I had Brad (Smith) or even Mark give me a hand signal to remind myself. They did a heck of a job keeping me fresh and the rest was just studying before the game. I think we did a good job. Coach (Henry) Ellard met with me in the mornings, afternoons and evenings spending extra time to just (get) me up to speed. I credit that to them last week.
On if he feels his feet are on the ground in New York…
I feel good. At the end of the day it is football at a national level. You go out there, work hard and you study. As in any sport, any job, the more you study, the more you know the more you can go out there and be comfortable. That’s what I’m going to continue to do. I feel better. I feel like my feet are underneath me and I’m moving forward.
On the situation in Buffalo being similar to Cleveland…
I don’t even want to talk about trying to empathize on what Cleveland was or what Buffalo is. (They’re) just in a situation (with) some injuries. They’re just trying to get their feet on the ground. When they’re rolling, they have a good offense. You look at Trent Edwards and what he did a couple of years ago. They add T.O. (Terrell Owens), Lee Evans, running backs Marshawn (Lynch) and Fred Jackson. They have players. Once they get everybody healthy and get their feet rolling and start going in the right direction moving forward, they can make some plays.
On playing at his new home for the first time this week…
I’m home now. This is it. Starting last Wednesday I came home. I’m happy to be here. The fans are supporting me. I’m excited.
On his memories of the Meadowlands…
We beat the Jets in 2007. We came up here and beat the Jets. I actually had a one-hand catch on (Darrelle) Revis. That was fun. That was the only time that I’ve played here.
On his relationship with Kerry Rhodes…
It’s going well. We are like brothers. We’ve known each other for a little while now. It’s a good situation, a good relationship. I’m trying to give him his space, I’m not trying to impose. Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking for a place of residence. I don’t want to impose and take over. He’s just a good friend and I’m glad that we can be on the same team.
On if he has exceeded his own expectations…
Would it be bad if I said no (laughing)? I just want to go out there and make some plays. I left a few plays out there. I just want to go out there and continue to do what they were doing, which is winning. It (stinks) that we didn’t win this past Monday. We just want to go into this Buffalo game and try to get back and move in the right direction. I don’t think I surprised myself. I did what I was supposed to do.
On wide receivers coach Henry Ellard…
He was coached by my first coach Terry Robiskie. He coached Coach Ellard his last year in Washington. I talked to Coach Robiskie about Coach Ellard, so that was cool. He’s just been around. He’s very knowledgeable. He’s played this game.
