Sanchez and Edwards Getting on the Same Page?
So how well are Mark Sanchez and his new receiver doing? If last week’s game is any indication, they seem to be fine, but clearly the two are working hard to get on the same page as quickly as possible.
Sanchez also knew what he had in Edwards when he watched a highlight reel of his Browns days with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
“We were both looking at each other like, ‘Whoa,’ ” Sanchez said. “This dude is something else.”
Once practice is over, the two have spent extra time ironing out the nuances that a quarterback and receiver need to be on the same page with in order to be successful. Surprisingly, in just four practices and one game, Sanchez and Edwards have built a nice rapport.
“Our comfort level is already there,” Edwards said. “I think we are already comfortable with each other, and now the thing is just moving forward and getting better, and getting to where we can do it at a Peyton Manning-Reggie Wayne level. Right now, we are comfortable with each other. But that’s just the start.”
A Pey-Way quality connection? I think I’m getting dizzy …
Of course, that’s a lot to ask for, but that the two are working to get to that level is what you want to see. Glad that Edwards is fitting in, and that he’s looking to only get better.

Sanchez better be practicing with a wet ball because the Cali kid is going to be playing in East coast weather soon. The forecast for Sunday is cold and rainy. I’m afraid of the weather becoming an equalizer for the Bills; bringing the Jets down to their level. Gang Green’s running game is going to have to get going against the Bills.
This sounds great, but is anyone else concerned that Edwards may be killing team chemistry? I mean, Cotchery has got to be a little ticked off. He was one of the best receivers in the league through the first 4 games and after Monday night’s debacle and hearing this, it’s clear he won’t be getting targeted as often.
I understand Edwards is a better talent, but if there is any sense of resentment in the locker room from other receivers this team could continue to go in the wrong direction.
Tivo,
to answer your question, No. The players on the Jets want to win, and they know Edwards can make that easier. Cotchery is a team player, and have Edwards there should only help him.
Don’t forget Cothchery is hurt, he definetly will b getting the ball also. What the jets really need to do is get Keller more involved in the offense. I also think we should start Leon at RB. He is a game changing player.
I agree killa,
Leon just looks better than our other backs, plain and simple. He consistently gets more yards than Jones. I say they start Leon and use Jones in short yardage and goal line situations. Make Leon Washington our Ray Rice and Thomas Jones our Willis McGahee. And then throw in some Shonne Greene!
Completely agree with JesusRevis. How having another good reciever can be consrued as a negative is beyond me. Only Jet fans have the uncanny ability to turn a positive into a negative—another symptom of our psychological disorder—–Jetsusdissapointus.
Thats “construed”
I hope Braylon keeps his focus for you guys. I would have loved for him to try as hard in Cleveland as he says he is for you. Notice I said “says” because the proof is in the pudding. He had a lights out game against the Giants on MNF last year and came back the next week and dropped the football like it was carrying the AIDS virus. Then continued to drop the ball for the rest of the season.
As far as killing team chemistry…I think that is a given with him. Does T.O. kill team chemistry? Does Ochosinco kill team chemistry? Whenever it is all about ME, it kills team chemistry.
His sideline tantrums and getting in quarterbacks faces are not just stories that people have made up. The Jets team and fans really need to hold him accountable.
Who would want to play in Cleveland?
EDWARDS wants to win. he will be more than fine.
greene has to get involved in the offense more. i don’t understand it. i was at the game monday night, and he was so antsy on the sidelines to get in the game.
we need a pass rush. please, get a pass rush going. we need beef up on the front 4.
The great thing about Edwards game on Monday was that it means teams are going to have to account for him. We want Edwards to draw a double and free up space for Keller, Cotchery and Leon. The more he plays like he did Monday, the more that is going to happen.
Would this be the “Ma – Bra” connection?
Once they achieve Pey-Way status, they can aspire to Joe Willie – Don status.
Then, they will have arrived.
J-Co is helped by Edwards coming over.
Anyone think that J-Co wouldn’t have lied to the coaches then dragged himself out there on one leg (at the risk of doing much greater damage!) if he thought HE was the only real passing option the team had? If he thought the team needed him?
Edwards played the part of the cavalry so J-Co could actually sit down and take care of himself. And will until J-Co heals.
Trust me, when J-Co heals, we’re looking at a Fitzgerald/Boldin-type duo. Throw in Keller once the other two have traumatized DBs, and this would be where the drooling starts…
Sean Greene looks real good….we actually have a 3-headed monster if coach plays them correctly.
Lito will be back this week, and trust me the best CB in the league Revis will redeem himself this wk.
