Game Recap: Jets Stink Up New Jersey

by Andrew Weiss on October 18th, 2009 at 8:40 pm

The state long accused of bad odors was reported this afternoon to be purposely dumping industrial waste in the vicinity of Rutherford.  Drivers along I-95 reported a ferocious and disgusting odor as they drove past exit 15.  “I had to roll up my windows,” said Mary Hatchette, who went on to say that she later had to pull over to vomit.  “I couldn’t take it.  It was unbearable.”  Reached for comment, Governor Corzine indignantly fired back that the reports were “malicious lies.”  He went on to denounce the critics suggesting that there was another reason for the atrocious chemical smell.  A small boy stepped forward and cleared up the confusion.  “It must have been the Jets,” he said.  And, it was.

The number I am tossing around in my head is 20.   That would be twenty wretched moments associated one with each of the fourteen penalties (I think that’s right), and one each for the six interceptions (I’m counting Weatherford’s superb 4th down play in overtime).   But, before you jump on Mark Sanchez and lay this at his feet for five of those picks (some of which were appallingly bad), let’s put blame where it’s due: coaching, on all three units.

You can tell me that we lost Kris Jenkins midway through the game.  I get it.  You can tell me that we were already thin with injuries.  I get that, too.  But, the coaching staff is supposed to put the players in a position to win, and they failed to do that in every possible way.

I’m not going to mention a single play or series.  I’m too disgusted to do that.  What I am going to do is state a few things unequivocally.  I’m hot now, so I may go over the top.  Stop me if I say something unfair.

1)      I’m done with Schottenheimer.  He’s got to go.  I know he’ll be with us till the end of the season but I’m just saying.  I can’t bear to watch this offense.  There’s no rhythm, no tempo, too much predictability and not enough talent.  I’m ready to scrap the whole unit.

2)      Mark Sanchez has got to sit for a few games.  He’s rattled and tentative, and too young to start in the NFL.  Let’s go with Kellen Clemens for three or four games and let the kid sit.  Let’s ask Clemens not to lose the game.  He can do that.

3)      Rex Ryan has got to get involved with the offense.  The game plan was a disgrace right from the first possession.   Even I know what’s coming.  You’re the boss, Rex.  Do something!

4)      If we take this personnel to Oakland (who beat Philly today), we’ll lose.

5)      I wouldn’t care if Thomas Jones got 400 yards, I don’t want to watch him run anymore.  He’s got to go.  I know he wasn’t the reason we couldn’t score for the last three quarters including overtime.  But, if you’re not a part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem.

6)      Oh and by the way.  The Patriots suck.

I’ll stop.  Ranting won’t get me or you anywhere. I can’t begin to catalogue my disgust.   Just stay off the Turnpike this week.  Whatever you do, don’t drive past Rutherford.  The stench will linger for days.

  2. avatar Ian says:

They absolutely sucked today 5 interceptions that is totally inexcusable I question Brian Shotenheimer’s calling I don’t think he is a good as people say. He is too conservative !! The only bright spot was Thomas Jones with a great day on the ground.

  3. avatar vurtualife says:

Andrew: surely you were jesting in some of those above points.

I agree that Schottenheimer needs to go, for all the reasons you highlighted above [and more].
But I say let Sanchez play out the year no matter what. He’s our future, he’ll only get better; I much prefer he take his lumps now than have him sit on the bench, only to start him again next year.
Get rid of T Jones? Ha
Schott simply does not adapt to the situation, and does not use our talent as he should. As I mentioned in other comments, It’s Unacceptable that they don’t use Leon for screens, or even a few delayed hand-offs…
as you said, way too predictable.
Despite the bad play-calling and INTs by Sanchez though, we lost due to some very stupid and unecessary PENALTIES in crucial spots, particularly that holding call by Hartstock in overtime that otherwise would have likely sealed a win for us….

  4. avatar J-Kay says:

Schotty should hang himself, the guy is a complete joke.

  5. avatar Dane says:

This is ridiculous…calling for Sanchez to be sat…that is just plain sad

  6. avatar ronnie says:

Brett Favre 311 Mark Sanchez 10

Dustin Keller, Calvin Pace (penalties late in the game), Idhebigo, Hartstock had terrible games.

We should have won the game on the 1st drive of overtime but the penalty by hartstock and muff on the FG killed us.
Then after the interception by Lowrey, we should have won the game then too.
    Terrible loss.
Rex Ryan for the 2nd straight week mismanaged the time and challenges.
A lot more to say but Im just too disgusted.

  7. avatar Jet Plane says:

Parts of the overreaction in this article is not even worthy of a message board post…what the heck do you have against Thomas Jones….part of the solution? He sure looked like that to me….Shotty? Is he playing? The calls were ok, the execution is what stunk. Sorry, much of the blame does come on Sanchez…..he looked whipped…..

That being said, I agree with you about Clemens. Start the guy and let him manage the game. Also, as you said, Ryan better get his act together. As bad as Mangini was, at least he he had an intellect…..not too sure about this guy, he’s got a lot of that rah-rah Herm stuff but seems overmatched on the sideline.

  8. avatar Daniel says:

Horrible day for a Jets fan. It’s a shame. Seeing the way Brett Favre is playing now that he’s healthy, I can’t help but wish he was still our QB. All this team really needs is a great QB. The coaching could be better, and we could win if our QB plays it safe and doesn’t win or lose it for us, but with a rookie QB you’ll have a few games that he lost for you singlehandedly.

Tom Brady threw for as many TDs as our team threw INTs (including Weatherford’s STUPID bobble)

  9. avatar largebarge says:

THIS PERFORMANCE WAS THE STRAW THAT BROKE MY BACK…….I’M DONE AS A SEASON TICKET HOLDER……HEY WOODY….TAKE YOUR PSL’s, & CRAM’EM IN YOUR CRACK!!!! WE’RE OUT!!! NEXT YEAR….I’LL GIVE MYSELF AN ULCER FROM HOME!!! I’M FRIGGIN’ DONE!!!

    J-E-T-S…….AH FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. avatar MEL31602 says:

You said stop you if you went over the top so here it goes….

I think a lot of Sanchez’s bad play was the windy conditions more than anything. His throws were sailing on him all game and that led to a bunch of the mistakes. Sitting him might only cause him to lose his confidence and since we are not going to win the Super Bowl this year anyway we might as well see what he can do. He has had two bad games out of five, one of which was against a good defense and the other in poor conditions. I don’t think benching him will do any good.

I have no idea why you are bashing Jones when he is the reason we were in this game. He would have won it for us on that last run if we did not have that penalty. I think he proved today that he IS part of the solution for the Jets going forward.

The main complaint I had with Schotty today was he threw the ball way too much in bad conditions (esp. deep) but of course he’d have looked like a genius if Sanchez had completed some of those. I understand your frustration with him but I’m not as anti-Schotty as others are, and firing him now would do absolutely no good. Plus Sanchez would have to learn a new offense and it would set him back even more (look at what happened to Cambell in Washington- he’s had to learn four offenses in four years or something like that)

The things I do take away from this game:
-I know Rex preaches aggressiveness but he has to teach the team to be more disciplined, especially at the end of the game and with holding calls.

-Sanchez should practice every day with a wind machine on to make it seem like it is 20 degrees.

-We need Cotch and even Smith back. I wonder how much of the passing game’s troubles were because Clowney couldn’t get open and they were doubling Keller and Edwards (I was watching in crappy quality online so I might be wrong on this).

-Rex should not have challenged that punt return at end of regulation- cost us a timeout and wouldn’t have changed yardage that much- again something he’ll learn from hopefully.

  11. avatar JetObsessed28 says:

why do you throw deep when it’s windy? WHY?

  12. avatar Michelle says:

Sanchez’s horrid play cost them the game. Jones is not to blame. I think Schottenheimer and Ryan should be blamed for continuing to let Sanchez throw once the score was tied 13-13. They should have pulled Sanchez or kept him and just run run the ball becuase that was the only thing they could do effectively on offense today.

  13. avatar Jets = Misery says:

Okay, well, let’s break it down.

    Offense

It’s easiest to breakdown the offense because they did the worst job. The o-line was solid (C+), Sanchez was dreadful (D- cause he’s a rookie), the running backs were adequate (B-), and the wide receiving was poor (D). Did anyone else notice Keller’s drops?

Oh yeah, and the offensive play-calling was atrocious.

    Defense

I’m actually going to rip this unit to shreds, and it goes back to what I’ve been talking about all along. They forced only one turnover, they were lousy against the run, and they gat zero presure on Edwards/Fitzpatrick. Couple that with the mistackles, and you have yourself a mediocre unit at best.

Also, the penalties on both sides of the ball are indicative of a very undisciplined team. Almost Oakland Raiders-esq if you ask me.

All in all the Jets proved one thing to me: they are mediocre at best.

  14. avatar JetObsessed28 says:

    WHYY?

  15. avatar Harvlis says:

    Andrew,

    1. I told you Schottenheimer stunk, a long time ago. We have alot of talent. Most OC’s would cream over out talent. Besides one pass to Keller, I don’t think we threw a pass to anyone other than Edwards.

    2. Totally agree that Sanchez is cooked but, if I was Tanny, I would have made the phone call to Jeff Garcia at halftime.

    3. Rex has to get rid of Schotty and give Callahan the job. If he has any idea of what play calling should be like, and he watches offensive game film — this should be a no-brainer.

    4. Agreed.

    5. You are way off, here. TJ was the star of the game. You lose lot’s of credibility with your opinion of him.

    6. Agreed.

  16. avatar JetObsessed28 says:

It’s a windy day.. so what do you think is a good idea for this next play?… how bout, play action, throw deep.. cause that always works in the wind.. ya know, we got this new big WR.. he’ll “catch it in a hurricane”… oh wait.. the last one was intercepted.. eh, F it.. let’s do it again.. and again.. we’ll catch one eventually…

This team did not want to win today, that’s what it looked like anyways… Dumb penalties.. and lot’s of em… Rediculous head scratchers… body language like they were at a funeral.. which is horrible when you’re trying to win the game..

    Ya know, last week hurt..
This week, i need an EKG..

  17. avatar ridinmywave says:

its crazy how it such a shame to give up on sanchez when alotta u hipocrits were the same ones to give up KC after 7 career starts behind a sorry o line and no weapons…….if this doesnt merrit a chance for him to contribute, idunno what does

  18. avatar sportzboy5252 says:

    Jets release Idhegibo

    …tomorrow

  19. avatar hank/naplesh says:

    Harvlis:

    WE Lost !!

  20. avatar RJ says:

Ok. I have let this loss soak in, and it hurts. Schotty has to go. The play calling was atrocious. I don’t think sitting Sanchez is a good idea. You have to give him the experience to succeed. Peyton Manning was awful his first year. Played all 16 games and here were the results:
    Completion % – 56.7
    Yards – 3,739
    TD’s – 26
    INT’s – 28

I know Manning and Sanchez are two different QB’s, but the fact is Sanchez is still a rookie and learning.

Oh yeah and the Patriots suck.

  21. avatar Harvlis says:

Hank, What does that mean, in English.

  22. avatar Jets = Misery says:

    C’mon, give Sanchez a break, he’s a rookie. It’s everything else that’s a problem.

And I agree about Pace, btw, he played very poorly. Oh yeah, and has Bart Scott done anything recently except miss tackles?

  23. avatar David says:

At the game I could help noticing Kerry Rhodes taking off his helmet and yelling at the fans as the boos rained down. His defense had just given up the tying touchdown and his reaction was to yell at the boo birds. He should have been hanging his head in shame

  24. avatar Rob Galgano says:

So let me get this straight. We lost to a team that scored 3 points against the Cleveland Browns. They had a backu pQB that hadn’t thrown a pass all season. We’re at home. AND WE STILL LOST.

    Screw this, I’m done.

Rex Ryan is continuing the NYJ culture of losing. Fraud.

    Mark Sanchez = bum.

  25. avatar Shamik says:

The Jets were Who We THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!

  26. avatar Matt says:

Well it’s official. Hit the PANIC BUTTON. My mom could have played better than Sanchez today….

  27. avatar latinlawyer says:

Wow, that stench is the stench of the SAME Ol’ JETS.. I have been a JETS fan since 1979 and man do i recognize these **** the bed games…jump out to early lead, the other team storms back and cuts your heart out. It seems they do not get up for the bad teams and instead put it on cruise control.

Thomas Jones was not the problem today, Leon Washington was not the problem today. 5 Ints were the problem. If your QB throws 3 INTs you contemplate taking him out. He was forcing and lobbing throws all day long. Sanchez has 0 experience in bad weather conditions…he is a QB from So Cal! Come on now, I love the SANCHIZE but man he **** the bed today.

This was such a bad game. The offense really did all it could do to lose the game. Its clear that a rookie is the QB…telegraphing passes is his signature move.

Sadly, I am going to keep following them hoping the Offense takes off but right now I don’t see the early season confidence.

  28. avatar oc says:

I come to this website for intelligent analysis. Andrew Weiss that was an absolute joke of a post. you should be as embarrassed as the jets

  29. avatar Denis says:

agree with everything, but how can you knock TJ?

  30. avatar matt says:

everyone take a step back and relax. yes this was an awful game for sanchez but without those picks this is an easy win. We all knew that he would have a few of these typs of games. I was way more mad last week when he played well and our D sucked because sanchez wont be lights out everyweek and when he plays well we need to win, hes still learning and will be for a few more years. second of all before the season if u said 3-3 id be happy and last of all we need to go 3-0 against oakland, miami and jax which this team can do and we are in good position to make a playoff run. There will be alot of highs and lows with this kid u remember when eli started he sucked until year 4. Maybe im crazy but i still think this team can be a legit playoff team remember its never as good as you think and its never as bad. ten games left and were a game behind

  31. avatar David says:

…and another thing about the wind. The commentators went on and on about the wind, but at the game it just wasn’t that windy. It wasn’t like the Giants game last year where Manning couldn’t throw a spiral. I’d call it breezy

  32. avatar Brian says:

Rex is getting a taste of what it means to be a JET! The look on his face during the post game press conference was priceless. Same results different participants. You know what’s coming next ” SAME OLD JETS” !!!!

  33. avatar joe says:

What happened to Keller. Did he forget how to play? Sanchez should have been benched. No QB should get a chance to throw a 5th pick. WHERE ARE THE SACKS? Ryan needs to bench underperforming players. Weatherford sucks. This one is in my top 10 worst games of all time. Been a fan since Richard Todd. Penalties fall on the coaching staff. I have no expectations on this season anymore. No game is a gimme. Buffalo couldn’t give us the game.

  34. avatar Joe B. says:

Haven’t gotten through the whole list, but #2 is moronic. IF YOU DIDN’T BENCH HIM TODAY, YOU DON’T BENCH HIM NEXT WEEK. The time to take him out was after the fourth INT. Rex chose to stay with his guy, I disagree with it, but he has to stick with that decision. You don’t let the rookie continue embarrassing himself today and then bench him the next week. It makes less than no sense.

  35. avatar hangar says:

Sanchez…this is is on your shoulders….

Grow up, stop sulking on the sidelines after you throw the int…this is not USC..

Other issue who is the rookie here, Mark or Marty????

  36. avatar Harvlis says:

It’s understood, that Sanchez is a rookie but, we have a good defense and if we had a QB and an OC, we could be quite decent on offense. In the first few games, it looked like Sanchez could guide the O without making too many rookie mistakes. I hate to say it but, if you haven’t noticed — Sanchez is in panic mode. He is throwing into coverage, forcing the ball, and making terrible decisions. At this point, we can waste the season and let him learn or we can get Jeff Garcia and make a run for the playoffs. I opt for the playoffs.

  37. avatar Joe B. says:

Also, Dolphins fans and other trolls: You guys are serious losers. Just laugh to yourselves and stay off other teams’ websites. That’s what I do when the Dolphins suck EVERY EFFING SEASON. Seriously, when the hell is the last time you queens did anything significant? The ’70s?

  38. avatar joe says:

What is the Dullfins record again? Have fun next week against the Saints

  39. avatar Shamik says:

The minute you say “We need Jeff Garcia” is the minute you close the book on the season.

  40. avatar oc says:

Is a dolphin fan, on a jet blog, calling jet fans losers? what a joke

  41. avatar Rudibager says:

So, I’m convinced that if we ran the ball EVERY SINGLE PLAY, (Yes, every single damn play) that we would have scored at least 24 points.

Our running game was really doing quite solid today. The weather conditions were pretty crappy. We don’t have our 1st and third receivers. WHY would they keep having Sanchez heave the ball down the field after his second interception? It defies all EFFING logic.

Thomas Jones was NOT the problem today. How could you even say something like that? He’s been sub-par up until this game. But if you do not think he was the HUGE OBVIOUS solution this game, then you must have been too busy punching a wall in frustration, rather then watching Jones get a seemingly 5-6 yards every dang run.

  42. avatar CaneJet says:

Agree with you on Schotty, but Sanchez needs to stay in and take his lumps. Rex does need to get involved in the offense. Hopefully he’ll know what he’s doing. Your opinions on Jones and the Pasties might have been your bile bubbling up.

  43. avatar sec133 says:

This is depressing… If we cant beat the Bills with their second string QB in then this is going to be a long season.

  44. avatar Glocknsoul says:

I don’t care what anyone says. This is the Same old Jets.

  45. avatar CaneJet says:

And yeah… I think we’re losing next week at Oakland.

  46. avatar hank/naplesh says:

    Harvlis:

    PERDIMIOS !

  47. avatar ronnie says:

    The positives:
    1) The Braylon Edwards acquisition has been a difference maker in the run game. Leon and Jones had outstanding games as well as the offensive line.

    2) Derelle Revis had another outstanding game. Aside from 2 early penalties he just shut down the Owens the rest of the game.

    The negatives in short:
    1) Keller had a couple of big drops and penalties.
    2) Stupid penalties all around: Pace, Hartsock, Ideghibo to name a few.
    3) Mark Sanchez made many unnecessary throws.
    4) Schotty had horrible play calls. He tried to force a deep ball a couple of times which either led to a sack or interception. It killed our momentum and forced us into 2nd and 3rd and longs. We were running the ball down their throats, no need to take risks.
    5) Rex Ryan mismanaged the timeouts at the end of the first half. Calling a timeout on 4th down, then trying to get the Bills to offside. At the end of the half, we had to force the FG unit on in about 20 seconds and to kick a FG. That was a big 3 points there.
    6) Challenging a play for just 6 yards at the end of the 4th quarter. Unless you are 100% sure about that, you dont go and challenge that play.
    7) The defense has got to start forcing more turnovers and sacks. We cant get any pressure on the QB unless we send the house. Players that have to wake up. Scott, Pace and Rhodes.
    8) Weatherford bobbling the ball on the FG.
    9) Our special teams this year has been below average. We never win the field position game. Leon hasnt been able to break through on kickoffs much.
    10) All because we got Edwards doesn’t mean we have to throw it deep to him. We have to set it up which we never did today. How about some screens to Leon. Some short, quick, crisp passes to get Sanchez going.
    11) We need Cotchery back asap. Hopefully Kris Jenkins is ok. Damien Woody can take a seat for a week. I want to see what Turner has to offer.

  48. avatar Rudibager says:

Sweet, we have a racist dogging our QB and he won’t even disclose what team he’s a fan of.

    Very classy.

  49. avatar rusty sanchez says:

theres noway we can sit sanchez we invested way too much for that…hopefully he can learn…from the begining of the year i was gonna give the jets a free pass this year to be bad but of course they had to go 3-0 and get my hopes up it can still be done but its gonna be alot harder

  50. avatar leon's legs says:

guess what… you just keep getting kicked when your down….

According to Jets beat writer Rod Boone, some in the team’s locker room are “talking” like NT Kris Jenkins’ season could be over.

  51. avatar MaCo says:

Looking forward to 5 ints. in two weeks. The weather is going to be worse than today! Unless, of course, Clemmens starts.

Advice to Calvin Pace: gameplan for the wildcat, and for Henne’s arm. The first one shall be easy as it’s only a gimmick, right? The second one might be tougher as Henne can throw into the wind (just like Sanchez).

  52. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

The Jets are dead to me for 1 week.
I’m so fed up that I’m not going to read, listen, watch or discuss anything about about NY Jets football !!

I’m totally disappointed in this team and coaching staff !!

  53. avatar Glocknsoul says:

Strange to say, since Sanchez threw five picks, but I think that they hurt him by limiting the offense. Shotty tries protecting him so much, he never has a chance to succeed. And Keller sucked big time today. Does he miss his blankie (Favre) that much?

  54. avatar Glocknsoul says:

And Shotty’s screens package (especially the bubble screens) is awful. Almost all end up in negative plays.

  55. avatar Smitty says:

Sanchez needs to take his lumps and learn as he goes, without a bad defensive game against the dolphins he wins with some crisp passes. The offensive playcalling was just schotty. It was clear within the first few passes Sanchez was having problems throwing deep balls into the wind, totally excusable considering he’s a warm weather QB only, Schotty should have gone to a west coast style attack with high percentage throws, screens, play actions and draws to keep the ball low and out of the swirling winds. He refused to get any WR involved in the game, why activate Woodhead and cut Green (who in hindsight we may have been able to use) and not use him, Clowney showed he can catch a damn ball last week and Wright and Sanchez had some good chemisty in camp…..but nooooooo he just kept throwing a deep ball to Braylon who is good but not a miracle worker, esp when the wind caught the ball and sailed it right into DB’s hands, over his head or through his outstretched arms, Braylon tried but he and Sanchez just aren’t on the right page yet. The defense was good at time, came up strong on 3rd downs and kept giving us chances to win till they were too gassed. Something is wrong on the D though Rhodes is a shadow of himself, it’s not Mangini this time Hollywood, rex put you in a position to succeed now do it. Scott and Harris have dulled, maybe it’s an injury we don’t know about but they are just not playing as sharp right now. Ellis has done nothing since comming back….nothing…nothing….and speaking of Douglas…yeah Rex that one is all you we need someone better in there, give Devito or Popa….Poti…Popo….whatever his name is a chance or go get Ed Johnson off the scrapheap from the Colts at least he can stop the run. The blitz is not working when they know it’s comming….everything on this team seems telegraphed right now it’s almost like everyone knows what the team is doing before they do it. Sharper was the first one to figure it out with Sanchez and now all the teams know what too look for. Miami was the first team to figure it out on Defence and now the league knows what to do. Now Buffalo has figured out how to shut down the WR’s…stop Cotch and Edwards and the passing game is stopped….just like last year with Coles and Cotch. Rex the league has you figured out, flip the script. Oh and if Cotchery is back and Jenks is fine we’ll all forget about this week because Sanchez with play better in Cali, if the raiders try and stop the run the passing game will be there and vice versa if they try and stop the pass…and if the Blitz doesn’t improve Rex will start cutting and benching guys….if someone in the LB group or on the line isn’t cut or benched by friday i’ll honestly be surprised. Everything will be better next week….because it really can’t be worse right now.

Now, fire Schotty, bench Sanchez, release Keller, and tar and feather Rex.

Just kidding… except for firing Schotty.

  59. avatar Andrew Weiss says:

I’ll back off on TJ. He did NOT run well in the first half, despite the yardage. However, he did what he could to win this game. Long term, I don’t see them re-signing him and I won’t miss him. I just don’t see more than a journeyman running back who is durable.

Keller had a very bad game. I had serious doubts about him, for the first time. I used to think it was a personal thing he had with Mangini. Now, I’m not so sure.

As for Garcia, I reluctantly jump on the band wagon assuming Kris Jenkins isn’t banged up too much. I doubt they can go anywhere in the playoffs without him.

  60. avatar Brandon from Illinois says:

On a day when Brady threw 5 touchdown passes, Mark Sanchez threw 5 interceptions. Ouch.

  64. avatar Jetboy says:

Despite the anguish of losing this game everyone needs to take a deep breathe and step back. We were bad , but the QB is going to have these days as a rookie and we all know we are not going anywhere this year so let the kid play. Those who advocate a return to Clemens are just looking backward.

The thing tht is disturbing is the number of penalties , especially in key situations. If Parcells were running this team Harstock would be a candidate to be cut, since that mental error that directly contributed to the loss. You do have to question the coaching given so many penalties but the big one by Harstock is not the fault of coaches. He should be cut as a message to the rest of the team that mental mistakes like that will not be tolerated. The team needs a wake up call to remind them this is not the old days of Herm and Mangini , where errors like this were chalked up to fate. I do not like writing about someone getting cut but in this case it may need to be done.

  65. avatar Brandon from Illinois says:

Schotty is the problem. Will someone create a fan petition? Let’s demand a change.

  66. avatar Dylan says:

    Glocknsoul,
I think we now see the reason the coaches are trying to protect him. He will be a great QB at some point, but right now all the inexperience is coming back to bite him. This is a learning year for Sanchez. its unfair to have such high expectations right now. Matt Ryan is the only rookie QB ever to have such an incredible season. Sanchez IS going to struggle.

This team has a lot of talent, but we won’t be an elite team until Sanchez fully develops into a good QB, and we get a freakin pass rusher at DE. Pathetic game for sure, though.

  67. avatar leon's legs says:

forget sanchez our best D player is done for the year. the season is over

  68. avatar Andrew Weiss says:

Hartsock? What about Ferguson, Woody, Lito Sheppard and Ihedigbo? Crushing penalties, all of them.

BTW, Green was the message firing from last week. He deserved it.

  69. avatar rusty sanchez says:

also who messing up these plays sanchez or keller cause they are not even close to being on the same page…i remember when we drafted him i was like who the hell is this guy ??

  70. avatar rusty sanchez says:

where is everyone getting this info about big jenks being done 4 the season???

  71. avatar Will Shapiro says:

Does anyone else think this BUM Weatherford needs to get cut THIS WEEK. He was terrible in the Miami game, continually punting the ball into the endzone. And, he single-handedly blew the FG attempt in OT

  72. avatar Glocknsoul says:

Frustrating thing about Sanchez is that he’s actually regressing, and I blame that on coaching. D coaches are out coaching Shotty. Shotty doesn’t have Sanchez prepared, even against a Bills team playing a bunch of second stringers

  73. avatar Brandon from Illinois says:

Yeah, we all know that Sanchez is going to have rough days, but Schotty should have been protecting the lead. The running game was working. The passing game wasn’t. Schotty continued to put pressure on Sanchez. Where were the screens? Where is the ground and pound?

  74. avatar Ben says:

    You stay classy Nate.

  75. avatar largebarge says:

    I’M FRIGGIN’ DONE!!!

  76. avatar ganggreen4ever says:

the way i look at it is this: Sanchez has got to play the rest of the season and take his lumps. It wasn’t to long ago that Eli was a rookie playing in horrific weather and he had games just like this.

and yes the Jets had 14 penalties to day but my god those refs were horrendous. That call on Sheppard on that pick he had on the Bills TD drive was complete BS sometimes the refs have to let them play, IT”S THE NFL, NOT FLAG FOOTBALL! LET THE PLAYERS PLAY!!!!!

  77. avatar Joe B. says:

TJ didn’t run well in the first half? You’re lost. Of all the people to blame for this loss, you blame the guy that broke the Jets’ single game rushing record. Are you serious?

  78. avatar Lysol says:

Abomination. What is up with Keller? Why wasn’t anyone going over to Sanchez and giving him a boost, getting in his face, giving him a pep talk? Where the hell are the captains. Time to name official captains. You lose to the Raiders next week and you are dead to me!

  79. avatar ganggreen4ever says:

man nate your one follower on your blog is impressive too… keep up the solid work

  80. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Andrew-

How can you say Jones didn’t run well in the first half? He had over 140 yards! He was the offense.

You may not like him and want him gone but to say he didn’t run well today is silly. He set a friggin Jets record.

  81. 1. Schottenheimer is being ridiculous. I could predict this offense anytime in today’s game. And not only today. I really think he should sit, review everything and start to make this offense look like an OFFENSE and not like some random guys playing together.

    2. I don’t think Sanchez is a big of a problem. Of course he’s a rookie and sometimes he really plays like a rookie but most of the games (not including today which was a whole tragedy) he is playing nice and keep the chains moving. I think the play-calling is destroying him, the WRs, the offense and this team.

    3. Rex has to get rid of Schotty and give Callahan the job. Or give me the job. Give anyone the job! I really think today’s loss was much more due to terrible coaching than terrible playing on-field.

    4. Agreed.

    5. TJ was the only one who gave me some smiles today. He’s a star in this team and if we let him go we’re done. Really don’t agree with this one.

    6. Agreed.

  82. avatar Rick says:

i completely agree on dumping schott and t.jones. I will never in my life get over this game. Only thing is we still are 3-3 right in the race. We cant just drop sanchez out now and tank our season hes in for the season. Unless we lose to oakland.

  83. avatar Joe B. says:

Nate, nice blog. Maybe you’ll get a comment one of these years. Fail.

  84. avatar Rudibager says:

Okay, Nate. You do realize it is still week 6, right? Just like when we won our “Superbowl”, it was only week 2? Man, hypocrisy knows no bounds.

  85. avatar leon's legs says:

rusty sanchez go to rotoworld.com, rich cimini’s blog as well

  86. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

No way you bench Sanchez. I said it in the gamethread, he let the Bills back in the game but we beat ourselves. Hartstock uses his head and blocks like they tell you to in PeeWee’s and we kick a 30 yard FG and win the game.

Then tommorows story is Sanchez overcomes 5 Ints and leads the Jets to game winning drive in OT. He shows too much promise for you guys to give up this quickly.

I said it before, if NFL guys followed the way most of you guys judge rookie QB’s, John Elway, Eli, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre would have never seen the field again.

The season is at a crossroads, this team has playoff, not Super Bowl, talent. A 10-6 season is still reasonable if they can get everyone healthy

We arent winning the Super Bowl this year with Sanchez or Clemens at QB, so stop holding the guy to Brady or Peyton like standards in his rookie season. Flacco at one point last year had like a 1 to 10 TD to INT ratio. If Sanchez stayed at USC he would have been the number 1 pick this year barring injury.

This is a total team loss. The Jets beat themselves and have to stop the bleeding ASAP. But for everyone who already knows how the season is gonna turn out, how we are gonna have the # 1 pick, how Sanchez is gonna be a bust or Rex is a terrible coach, why even watch the games? You already know whats gonna happen so just root for another team. Im gonna ride it out and see what happens

  87. avatar klecko71 says:

i was there….and was in miami last week.

    scarred for life…..thanks.

schott awful today, as was sanchez of course.

forced the ball to keller today….was easy to see….

havent read any posts…but obviously this is just like the raider game where we ran for 250 and lost…

    only us…..

and jauron tried to help by not running another play before regulation ended and taking his chances on a 46 yd fg in the cold.

wow we are losers……”must win” huh coach??

welcome to new york……lose next week and see what happens

  88. avatar Nate says:

Jets suck. At least you can always hold on to that super bowl like 90 years ago. Fail.

  89. avatar ganggreen4ever says:

nate why dont you post this on your blog too… you just have to go to this one because people may actually read what you write hear unlike your fail of what i guess is considered a blog

  90. avatar MEL31602 says:

By the way to make matter worse Cimini is reporting Jenkins out for year….

  91. avatar BleedGreen says:

I know a lot of people are referring back to Eli Manning’s rookie 0 rating game performance w/ today despicable display for any rookie qb. This could possibly be the worst display from any qb in nfl history. What even more pathetic is the running back ran for 210 yrds!!! Never thought highly of Sanchez and I still don”t. Yes, he’s young. But, he’s just not a good football player. The 20 yard sack late is more pathetic than his interceptions. He is clueless ! Time to panic

  92. avatar cojetfan says:

This loss was avoidable and hurt to watch. But, this is what we signed up for – we went with the rookie. We knew he’d struggle at some point and lose us some games. So, we have N.O. and this stinker. You don’t bench him now. Let him play. If we go 8-8 against our schedule, we had a decent year. My expectations rose at 3-0, just like the rest of you. This is more realistic. A new coach, rookie QB, questionable depth, tough division. That’s how it goes. I still think we’re a good team, trending in the right direction, long term.

As for Jones, I think he’s a better-than-average back who’s in the last glimmer of his window. Let’s see more Greene. Why do they always pull him right away?

  93. avatar Crystal Gunns says:

Nate, let me guess you’ve been a Pats fan since 2000. Congratulations you front running piece of trash…go away.

  94. avatar David says:

Thomas Jones has to go! Even in the plays he broke for big yards, he seemed slow. Yes, there was a big hole, and Yes, he scored a touchdown. BUT, he just barely scored that touchdown and he there was noone near him from the start. On the other play Edwards ran and blocked and was twice as fast as Jones!

  95. avatar Dylan says:

Cimini is reporting that Jenks injury is severe. If Jenkins is out for the year, our season is OVER. We have no defensive line without him. He might be the most important player on our ENTIRE team. The Jets should switch to a 4-3 without him, but I highly doubt they can win without him. Everything we accomplish on defense starts with the big guy in the middle. His injury is a HUGE blow to the team…

  96. avatar Crystal Gunns says:

Forget the game. That is real loss.

  97. avatar brian311 says:

im really hoping big jinx isnt done for the year…

  98. avatar Row says:

I’m sure everyone else said this already, but piling on is necessary for such an outrageous claim. Thomas Jones? really? He needs to sit? I can probably think of about 15-20 other players on this team that should be sitting before that guy. Sorry, but the one guy who showed up to play doesn’t deserve to get called out.

I don’t know if I agree with sitting Sanchez either. The way you put it sounds like, yes, maybe it could work. But if you think he’s nervous or whatever now wait until we throw him back in there in 3-4 games. Not going to go over well.

This was expected from Sanchez. Sorry he got everyone’s hopes up at the start of the season, but this is what we all signed up for. Enjoy the ride.

  99. avatar Dylan says:

Damn. People have to give the kid a break. He was TERRIBLE today but any fan who is ready to give up on him after a couple bad games in his rookie season is a MORON! He is going to struggle and will cost us some games, but IMO one bad season is worth a good QB for the next 10 years!!! Any Jets fan who is ready to give up on Sanchez needs to find a new team already. Please!

  100. avatar Jetsetter says:

where can you go to see the press conference

  101. avatar ronnie says:

Cimini is reporting that Jenkins is done for the year.

    ^^preliminary reports^^

  102. avatar MEL31602 says:

Bleedgreen- I think Derek Anderson’s 2-17 day last week and any of Jamarcus Russell’s games this year except today were worse than Sanchez….

  103. avatar Ed Va says:

We all need to face the fact that we essentially have a college senior playing QB for us. This whole year will be up and down. It will take the Jets a couple of years to win with Sanchez but we need to be patient. He’s the right guy to have in their long-term.

  104. avatar Joe B. says:

Word is Jenkins is done for the year, which kills any chance we had at a deep playoff run anyway. Sanchez was embarrassingly bad today, but if anyone’s giving up on him this early, they’re morons. His numbers through his first six starts are pretty much identical to Eli Manning’s. Actually slightly better.

    Manning: 0-6, 77-170 (45.2%), 899 yards, 3 TD, 8 INT
    Sanchez: 3-3, 85-163 (52.1%), 1,035 yards, 5 TD, 10 INT

Even Peyton threw 28 INTs in his rookie year. Sanchez has the goods, but he’s 22 and requires patience. I’ve given up the brief hopes that we were a Super Bowl caliber team this year, but I still think the future is bright w/the Dirty.

  105. avatar Johnson says:

just further proof that quarterbacks out of usc are absurdly overrated. sanchez will be an average QB for the rest of his career.

  106. avatar Ed Va says:

Also about Jenkins – I didn’t see the Jets really stopping the run the last couple of games with him nor did I see the Jets play good down the stretch with him. They have to have other players step up and make some adjustments to their schemes. The defense will be adequate but not dominate.

  107. avatar Will says:

Does anybody realize that we havn’t won a game with 4pm start time in since december 2007. In fact, we have only won one game that didnt start at 1 pm (last year on thursday night at new england, in overtime though) in the past two seasons, while winning every single 1pm game. I used to think it was a coincidence, but when we keep losing these rediculous 4pm games, im not so sure. What the hell do these guys do with the extra time before games. Just something to think about.

  108. avatar Johnny Hector says:

Rex should have sat Sanchez after the 4th pick. I think he was more concerned about Sanchez loosing his confidence for being benched then trying to win this game.

The weather is not an excuse for Sanchez. If he can’t handle this weather 40F 20mph winds, then forget about playing in late November and December in NJ. Woody Johnson should start building a roof on the new stadium now to protect the Sanchise.

By the way Tom Brady didn’t seem to have much problem with worse weather in NE today. (6TDS)

This may not be the same old Jets but it sure feel that way. Losing to teams you should beat….

I dread next week’s game in Oakland

  109. avatar Jake says:

This happens almost every year. Last year we beat the Pats then the Titans and everyone was talking superbowl. A few weeks later we lost 4 out of 5 and get knocked out of the playoffs

2009 – Beat the Pats, Titans, Houston…..rah rah rah going to be a NY Giants / NY Jets super bowl.

Then they blow up. I have been a fan since 1978. They are cursed “SAME OLD JETS” please shoot me now….

  110. avatar TimNC says:

Ed Va, I agree about the up and down year, and that Sanchez is the right guy. I think the problem in the last few games offensively, is the hap-hazzard play calling. Shotty doesn’t build up the passing game with any sort of progression to allow Sanchez to get comfortable and get into a rhythm.

They need to mix in some of the short distance, high-percentage passes in a little more – just to allow Sanchez to get his confidence back.

  111. avatar RJ says:

Why is everyone giving up on Sanchez already? He is a rookie. Give him some time. Matt Ryan is an exception. Let him learn from his rookie mistakes.

  112. avatar sec133 says:

Does anyone know where I can see the postgame interviews??

    Thanks

  113. avatar mc says:

listen. the only reason sanchez is struggling is bec hes a rookie. DO NOT SIT HIM. he has 3 games to get it right in my book if he wants to keep this job this year. against oakland, miami, and jax he has 2 b solid or then they shud sit him. and think about it. the jets played with 1 wr today.1 FRIEKEN WR! and yes shotty MUST go. i said it at the end of last year hes waaaay to predictable. sanchez will not do well in this system if this continues. he doesnt use guys like keller and sanchez to the best of their abilities. in my opinion, sanchez shud throw the ball 27 times, and 13 of them 15 yards or more. he cant get into a rhythm rite now.the best game was the first, where the play calling was terrific. sanchez must rebound this week with his wrs back……or uhoh

  114. avatar CHARLIE D says:

Guys, I understand how all of you feel all I can say for Jet Nation is we are emotionally DEVISTATED! I’m afraid we will be 6 and 10 or 8 and 8 at best.

Don’t expect playoffs this year its not happening, or at least I don’t see it with the current level of play!

    Charlie

  115. avatar mc says:

and the defense is a good d,not elite d

  116. avatar di3h@rdj3tsfan says:

with all these WEAPONS on offense and only mannage to put up 13 POINTS its crazy. with a bannged up bills defense iam just at a LOST OF WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  117. avatar mc says:

were to talented to b this bad. i dont know wat else 2 say.

  118. avatar hank/naplesh says:

    Hey Guys:

    Forget Franchez…….. Where Is Ryan?

  119. avatar chris says:

The coaching which looked great the first three wins has now become awfully predictable. I think shotty is not a good mentor for sanchez and does not put him in a good position to do good. Clemens should get the start the truth is sanchez is a rookie and is looking like it, his passes were only directed to braylon and keller( who btw stunk it up today) he has to spread it around and i think that blame falls in part on shotty. This team needs to get a complete game through out the team it feels like recently when the d’s good the offense stinks(NO and Bills) and then the offense is good the d stinks(Miami) I put this all on the coaches the past three games have been some of the sloppiest football games i have ever watched. Lets get it together JETS!!!

  120. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Its not the Same Old Jets because Sanchez is a rookie QB. He is going to be up and down all season.

Im not making excuses as there is no reason what so ever for a team with the talent that the Jets have to lose to the Bills, but you cant count on Sanchez to play like he did in Weeks 1,2,3 and 5. He is just gonna be flat out bad some weeks.

The stat jumps out at you cause its FIVE INTS but those INTS just made the game close. The Jets could have still won the game today despite Sanchez awful rookie performance. You turn it over six times and commit 12 or 13 penalties you cannot win in the NFL. Jets straight beat themselves. thats why they are a 9-7 or 10-6 team even with the rookie QB and not a 12-13 win team

  121. avatar e_man says:

Wow, not sure why you are bashing Jones. What did you want him to do, stop running and take a knee. He is executing a play the Offense coordinator calls.

Ok, if you don’t like the play blame Shotty, but to rip on Jones? I don’t get it. He was the ONLY thing that worked today.

I agree with you on Sanchez. Let him catch his breath. The penalties, NO EXCUSE!

  122. avatar Clint says:

is it possible to make a petetion to get Schott. outta here?

  123. avatar rtodd says:

One point I’ve found critical and no one is pointing out is Leonard as a punt returner.

Once, he missed a fair catch which turned out to bounce deep into our territory. A more critical one was the stupid decision to return a punt in OT which resulted to not only minus yardage but a critical Ahmad Caroll holding.

If we’re not using Leon that much, why not let Leon return punts.

  124. avatar rusty sanchez says:

bad news is we never play well in oakland no matter how bad the raiders may be that year we are cursed out there for some reason…if this is true about jenkins does this mean we goto a 4-3 d and is it possible with the guys we got….im sorry but pouha dont cut it at nt

  125. avatar Section 102 says:

what happened to the blitzing? seriously

  126. avatar ronnie says:

rtodd, there are at least 6 more critical points than that, that I can think of.

  127. avatar brett farve says:

    miss me yet??

  128. avatar mc says:

need…to get…..JULIOUS PEPPERS. trade 4th rd and depending on performance,a second round in the 2011 draft. we need him even with jenkins were not getting pressure from the de’s

  129. avatar Clint says:

woo we finally recorded a sack

  130. avatar I New York I says:

wow this is new york for ya. 3 weeks ago we are going to the superbowl. now we need to fire everyone and shred our roster. if i recall it wasnt a week ago where i saw a thread claiming many teams would kill for our roster. Sanchez cali boy. who can honestly tell me they didnt see that coming? oh and btw we are all the same fans that accepted an 8-8 prediction this offseason. really turn down the fire guys. i highly doubt your fans doubting you is a solution for the Jets… “our jets” woes. The NFL is a league in which you need a short memory. lets practice what we preach to sanchez.
    LEts Go Jets!

  131. avatar Clint says:

lets trade gholston to cleveland for shaun rodgers and a 2nd rounder

  132. avatar ronnie says:

    no trade is happening.
This will be the team we have.

  133. avatar Joe B. says:

Considering you can’t spell your own name, no Brett.

  134. avatar LMP23 says:

WTF happened to the team?? The offense? We are back to being a mediocre team at best at 3-3. I knew it was too good to be true. So much for the soft part of the schedule.

  135. avatar Clint says:

Did anyone else know howard green was cut?

  136. avatar gavinskeen says:

Finally found something worse than the Jets today – this post.

  137. avatar hank/naplesh says:

    Andrew:

What are we 3-3? Someone tell me if that is good, or bad? Some people tel me that is good.. that we should give our rookie QB a BIG pass !!

I don’t believe it.Why?…. Because laike the Mets…. It’s always wait for next year…. The moment is NOW, the monent has been LAST YEAR, it is a losers attitude to always give a pass.

Last year we destroyed our management for the our will to win now !!!!

Why are we giving this coaching staff a pass? WHY ARE THEY WORTH IT?

  138. avatar BigKatFan says:

Amazing. this WOULD be the game where Steve Weatherford discovers his inner Tony Romo.

  139. avatar cantstoptherun says:

I thought Gholsten was going to truck the FINS 1st round pick, Jake Long.??

    JETS are a JOKE.

  140. avatar Daniel says:

    QB – F
    RB – A
    WR – D
    TE – F
    OL – B- (stupid penalties)

Overall D – B (no sacks, but only 1 TD allowed)
Special Teams – F (Weatherford had to save a TD on a punt return, he also bobbled the game-winning FG attempt, Ihedigbo punched a guy and cost us 15 yards and should be released immediately)
Coaching – D (I’m sick of Schottenheimer’s horrid playcalling, I’m not sure why we sung his praises last week)

  141. avatar Eddy says:

Really don’t understand why we were not just running the damn football all 4th quarter long. Terrible penalties. I blame this loss completely on the coaching staff. Schott & Ryan. Too many dumb mistakes. Too many deep passes when the kid was clearly having trouble passing. Are there no short slants in this offense? Braylon is a huge WR. Who’s gonna keep the ball from him on a short slant?

  142. avatar BigKatFan says:

If Ben F***ing Hartsock hadn’t gotten busted for holding on that one run, we would’ve won for sure. much of the blame should fall on him.

  143. avatar Clint says:

rex had nothing to do with Gholston or Favre

  144. avatar Eddy says:

Rex doesnt trade picks and how many of those were in last or this year’s draft? DUH

  145. avatar Eric says:

    Wow!

I know you’re mad, but I can’t fault Brian Schottenheimer for the QB making horrible reads and throwing the ball into the wind, into double coverage, and throwing it ONLY to Braylon Edwards and Dustin Keller.

You pick TODAY to say Thomas Jones needs to go? He was the only reason the Jets had anything on offense today.

The coaching complaint I totally agree with. Undisciplined and too many penalties. They have to play more disciplined football.

I am angry too, but if you don’t think the Jets lost today MOSTLY because their rookie QB decided to play catch with the Bills then you watched a different game than I did.

  146. avatar cantstoptherun says:

WHAT ABOUT THE FAKE FIELD GOAL ATTEMPT…
I LOVE YOUR SORRY ATTEMPT AT THE WILDCAT..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    JETS AND WILDCAT..WHAT A JOKE.

  147. avatar BoCash says:

I was always worried about having no one behind 77 on the depth chart. his injury was the first of many god awful thing s to happen today. Get Well Soon Kris.

  148. avatar largebarge says:

Can someone please tell me why all these loser ass Dolphin fans are on here rite now!!! Watta bunch of losers!!!

Cantstoptherun…….Maybe you should take a long hard look at your own team….If you have’nt noticed….YOU SUCK ALSO!!!!

  149. avatar Eddy says:

Once again Rex is the head COACH. Tanny makes trades. Who is this guy?

  150. avatar Joe B. says:

    Daniel -

It was Murrell who punched Fine. The refs got the wrong guy.

  151. avatar SD says:

Unbelievable! That game was absolute torture. The defense gave the offense the chance to win over and over again. Sanchez looks shell-shocked out there. The confidence he had the first couple weeks of the season is long gone. Someone’s got to get in his face on the sideline and fire him up. Sulking on the bench is not a good look. How does that stupid ass “Sanch-ize” thing sound now????

All I have to say is – thank god I’m a Yankee fan…

  152. avatar Clint says:

i dont care if you lose by 50 or lose by 1, a lose is a lose same with a win.

  153. avatar Dean Barbella says:

Abomination ; Outrage; Disgrace: Scandal; Eyesore:; Atrocity: Horror; Hatred: Dislike: Repugnance: Loathing: Revulsion: Abhorrence: Detestation: Disgust and Jets!

  154. avatar Eddy says:

Every time I see Sanchez on the bench sulking I wish Pennington were there talking to him.

  155. avatar Ryan says:

    uh oh ;

According to Jets beat writer Rod Boone, some in the team’s locker room are “talking” like NT Kris Jenkins’ (knee) season could be over.
Meanwhile, the NY Daily News is reporting that Jenkins has ligament damage. The injury looked serious on the field and coach Rex Ryan admitted afterwards that it is “probably severe.” Losing Jenkins would be extremely damaging to New York’s run defense. Sione Pouha, who’s been starting at defensive end, is next on the depth chart at nose tackle. The entire rotation would be shaken up

  156. avatar Dean Barbella says:

… Escuse me. I just got a flashback from the last two weeks and threw up in my mouth a lil. Sucks!

  157. avatar hank/naplesh says:

    Hey Jeusus:

We have to pray to our father, GOD, that your boy Franchez some how sees the light, Amen !!

  158. avatar Clint says:

Howard green is gone so that leaves Pouha or switch the defense. Wheres the post game interviews?

  159. avatar Jake says:

I would not sit Sanchez. Why kill his confidence it’s not like clemons who will be gone next year will bring us to the Super Bowl.

BTW only 3 of the 5 ints were bad throws the others bounced off wide receiver hands…still not a good day but he will come back…not sure aout the Jets they are cursed…SAME OLD JETS

  160. avatar Kyle says:

Schott needs to go tonight. Throwing on first down, when the Bills have safeties playing linebacker. Terrible play-calling.

    Bart Scott is worthless.

Kerry Rhodes is worthless. Have either of these guys even made a play yet? Rhodes and Scott talk and talk and talk, and they have nothing to back it up. Instead, they’ve made an embarrassment of this team.

Cut Ihedigbo, Shaun Ellis and someone needs to tell Calvin Pace to get IN SHAPE.

  161. avatar largebarge says:

If Jenkins is done 4 the year…….So are the Jets!!!

  162. avatar Kyle says:

I want Rhodes and Ellis traded immediately. But, it’s not like anyone owner in their right mind would give anything up for them anyway.

Maybe we should call up Al Davis.

  163. avatar Kyle says:

Kerry Rhodes seems more interested in taking shirtless photos than playing football.

  164. avatar Clint says:

Look at it this way Peyton Manning threw 28 ints as a rookie..they didnt give up on him.

  165. avatar L7WIENIE says:

Jenk’s is out for the season…

    F my life

    Goodnight

  166. avatar Kyle says:

    This isn’t about Sanchez.

Brian Schottenheimer is a terrible offensive coordinator. We should’ve let him walk last year. Instead, we held on to him. If Schottenheimer believes he has what it takes to be a head coach, he is sorely mistaken. He’ll have trouble finding a job a QB coach next year if he keeps up this SHIIIIT.

  167. avatar Matt O says:

Let’s be perfectly clear. No Jenkins, no chance. If the big fella’s out for the season, 6-10 will be an achievement.

  168. avatar largebarge says:

    Kyle

Do you even watch the games??? Kerry Rhodes is having a GREAT season!!! Just another Baffoon I guess!!!

  169. avatar Clint says:

No im just saying everybody is sayin Sanchez this and bench him.

  170. avatar Kyle says:

    BTW,

Dustin Keller is a complete bonehead. He was running the wrong routes all day.

    Thanks Mangini.

  171. avatar Kyle says:

Kerry Rhodes is having a great season? You have no clue what you’re talking about. The dude is two steps behind every play. He is too slow to play safety.

  172. avatar Kyle says:

This team was going nowhere with or without Jenkins. We have too many holes.

  173. avatar hank/naples says:

    Hey Clint:

how can you compare Payton to Farnchez,. Are you seriuos?

  174. avatar largebarge says:

    Kyle

Put down the Haterade, & check out the numbers!!! Kerry Rhodes is a beast!!!

  175. avatar Lysol says:

Jenkins=done then trade for peppers ASAP. Switch to a 4-3 and put that mut gholston in on the otherside. Don’t we miss Abraham. Mangini had to go eff it up with his 3-4. Let’s get out of it before we are stuck running it for 4 more years

  176. avatar Kyle says:

Sanchez ain’t the problem. 3 of those picks came on 1st down. WE SHOULD NOT BE THROWING THE BALL ON FIRST DOWN WHEN WE”RE RACKING UP 20 YARDS A CARRY RUNNING THE BALL. I DON”T CARE IF THEY HAD ALL 12 IN THE BOX! They had safeties playing linebackers! You run it up the gut until they defense gives up.

Fire Schottenheimer tonight, and promote Callahan. No more excuses.

  177. avatar Clint says:

Im not comparing no way..im just saying his rookie year he threw 28 ints and they didnt give up on him so we could give up in Sanchez this soon.

  178. avatar hank/naples says:

    largebare:

Tell me, why did the Jets lose tonite?

  179. avatar Kyle says:

    largebarge,

where are the numbers you speak of? I see four passes defended in 6 games. No picks, no sacks, no FF, no presence.

  180. avatar L7WIENIE says:

I 100% agree on Rhodes…he has sucked for a while…i used to love him but honestly…he is too slow for the position..he is always the jack ass that comes in at the end of the play to jump on the pile…

    Rhodes SUCKS.

The proof is totally in the pudding…just have a taste.

  181. avatar Kyle says:

    Thank you.

Really, I want to see these “numbers” largebarge speaks of.

Rhodes is the most overpaid, overrated safety in the NFL.

  182. avatar dave b says:

Calvin Pace looked fine…he had a couple bad snaps, but there were two drives that he was absolutely the sole defensive force.

Keller and Sanchez were playing on two different planets. If we’re going to do anything, that has GOT to change.

  183. avatar Kyle says:

Bart Scott is another one who needs to shut his stupid mouth.

    He has DONE NOTHING.

  184. avatar Clint says:

Who got ejected tonight and why?

  185. avatar Kyle says:

Keller’s head was in his ARSE all night. Nobody else was running the wrong routes. It seemed every time he threw to Keller, he was on the other side of the field.

    Pace looks winded and fat.

  186. avatar Kyle says:

Ihedigbo got ejected because he has done nothing but cost us penalties since he joined the team.

I would’ve cut him the second he threw a punch, and told him to clean out his locker.

  187. avatar hank/naples says:

    L7WIENIE:

Fonzie has been saying that for about a year now, and everyone hates him for it, even Kerry Rhodes !!

  188. avatar rusty sanchez says:

i guess i gotta take one for the team and sell my soul to the devil for a jet superbowl win…i cant think of any other way

  189. avatar Kyle says:

Google Kerry Rhodes and click on images.

That, right there, is everything that is wrong with him.

  190. avatar FireSchotty says:

I have been saying to fire schotty since he has gotten here. Everybody knows what he is going to call. He is waayyy wayyyy to predictable!!!! When will he get it through his head that you STICK WITH WHAT WORKS!!!!

  191. avatar Clint says:

Did Danny Woodhead do anything as wideout?

  192. avatar hank/naples says:

    Question:

WHERE IS JESUS. NOW THAT WE NEED HIM?

  193. avatar L7WIENIE says:

Had to get this off my chest before i went to bed…

I love Sanchez and think is good for him and our team that he plays the entire season.

BUT…he looks like a little punk after every mistake…the flapping of his wings to quiet the fans…concentrate on the freaking play and man up. This kid needs to realize that you cant sit ont he bench with a puss on… STRAP YOUR BALLS ON AND GET JACKED UP!!!!

  194. avatar supercooljetfan says:

with no jenkins i dont think we can do the 3-4…unless rex suits up and clogs the middle…the only bad thing is we have too mlb’s and the rest are all hybrids so we cant do a 4-3 we are screwed

  195. avatar Kerry Rhodes says:

kyle quit hatin you wish you had pecs like me

  196. avatar L7WIENIE says:

    hank/naples:

I don’t know who you are speaking of…but dude the truth hurts…he is a great guy but just not that good.

  197. avatar Kyle says:

Problem is, Schott is an idiot.

    He is inept.

Incapable of utilizing his weapons. And he’s got some great weapons at his disposal.

Danny Woodhead can be effectively used as a Wes Welker type player. He has the burst, and speed. Only question is: can he get the separation? Maybe he can’t, so you don’t even allow the defense to touch him in the first place. Your move him around all the time and throw quick outs to him. It WILL work.

Edwards is now our Randy Moss, but he is a better blocker. Leon is our Kevin Faulk, but more athletic and a lot faster. We have a better pass catching tight end in Dustin Keller, than the Patriots have.

And, our offensive line is better.

So why can’t we put it all together? Why, in four season with us, can’t Schottenheimer develop a consistently above average offensive team? Because he is inept, incapable of outsmarting his opponents, or adjusting to gameplans. He fails to recognize what he has, and as a result, doesn’t utilize any of his players.

Schottenheimer needs to be fired tonight, Callahan promoted. I expect an announcement in the morning.

  198. avatar Dylan says:

You guys can’t seriously be ripping on Rhodes… The Jets defense played great! Sanchez turned the ball over 5 comes, and the D only gave up ONE touchdown! They got burned on a couple plays, but when the opposing team gets the ball a million times its going to eventually happen. Rhodes might not be Ed Reed, but he is a good player, and certainly not the reason the Jets are losing games. The ONLY reasons we lost today is because we have a rookie QB who made way too many mistakes and we had some costly penalties on both sides of the ball.

  199. avatar Kyle says:

Kerry, I really hope that’s you.

Because I need you to decide right now. Do you want to be some boy-toy, two-bit, pretty face actor?

Or do you want to be a Jet.

  200. avatar L7WIENIE says:

Dylan ..I agree on your comments expect for the fact that Rhodes still is not that good no matter how the defense plays…I like smith or leonard better

  201. avatar ben says:

    you need to relax.

bench sanchez? dont be a fool

terrible terrible gutless pathetic absurd loss.

but sanchez coulda have thrown 12 picks today and we still would have come up 3 pts short.

defense has to find its swagger, with or without jinx in there. rookie mistakes or not…

  202. avatar Kyle says:

It’s about the team as a whole today.

We let Chad Henne tear us up, and Fitzpatrick came pretty close to doing the same to us today.

  203. avatar Kyle says:

    largebarge,

Instead of proving your point with these apparent “numbers” you resort to childless name calling.

    Congrats.

  204. avatar chris says:

Maybe its time to switch up management, its clear building our team with this lets win a superbowl mentality this year isnt working. Why faneca the HIGHEST paid lineman in the league can’t pass block baffles me. Thomas Jones is overpayed… shonn greene could run through those holes. And sorry largebarge but you obviously dont know football, tell me when was the last time kerry rhodes had a important turnover in a game, umm 2006. Calvin Pace.. great year last year now he looks like he lost a step, give westerman a shot hes our future. Good thing we can fill these wholes through the draft…. oo wait we have no draft picks again this year.. o well maybe in a couple years.

  205. avatar nyjetsman says:

kerry rhodes had many tackles at the point of attack tonite and many for a loss he had a pretty decent game just nothing gamebreaking.

we need faster olb’s or de’s we always get to the qb but never sack the qb. i would have no problem goin to the 4-3 if jenks is done for the year.

  206. avatar goodeyes23 says:

the jets offense and play calling are both pathetic but we are also orgetting the fact through the first 5 games of the season not one defensive end for the jets has a sack…what does that tell you?…the pass rush is pathetic and so is the play calling

  207. avatar hank/naples says:

    L7WIENiE:

I , and Fonzie agree with your comment about Kerry Rhodes. He just happened to call out Fonzie on one occasion on his tweet.

I also agree about Franchez, however he must do a ton of growing up and I’m not sure he can help the team while doing so !!

  208. avatar Kyle says:

If this season turns sour, Woody might as well jump off a cliff.

  209. avatar Dylan says:

    L7WIENIE,
Rhodes plays a different position than Leonard and Smith. FS’s play more coverage while SS’s play more run defense. Leonard’s name is called a lot more because he is in the backfield making plays more often than Rhodes, but Rhodes has definitely done a good job. Opposing WR’s have not done anything against the Jets, even with many injuries at CB. Revis deserves tons of credit for shutting down his guy, but Rhodes deserves a lot of credit as well. Its normally his job to help out Lito/Lowery, and he has done well with that.

As far as his lack of big plays, there is one simple reason. The Jets aren’t getting ANY pressure on the QB! They hit Brady on almost every passing play, but since then we haven’t seen any QB hits! Being tied for the LEAST amount of sacks in the league is embarrassing. Until we can get some more pressure on the opposing QB, Rhodes is not going to be able to make many big plays.

  210. avatar Terry Tate says:

Dylan, the Jets defense gave up 13 points to a very sad looking Bills offense. They are a good defense, but overrated. For the amount of times we blitz, we should have a million sacks.

As for Sanchez, I didn’t expect him to be amazing every game. He is a rookie. He is learning and hopefully can fix his mistakes. Schotty is an idiot. The play calling was atrocious.

  211. avatar SchottenheimerIShorrendous says:

i am calling for a boycott of jets home games until schottenheimer is fired

  212. avatar goodeyes23 says:

the jets defensive ends are nowhere to be found and it also looks like dustin keller has been sleep walking through these first five games….they should of ran the ball the enitire game and forced buffalo to actually stop the run….and enough with this lenard guy returning punts rex, this isn’t baltimore and leon washington is a much superior return man for this team….field position has been a major concern over the past couple of weeks

  213. avatar Joe B. says:

For the last time, Murrell threw the punch, not Ihedigbo.

  214. avatar SchottenheimerIShorrendous says:

who cares who threw the punch..the only thing that matters is that we have the most inept OC in the league..I am sick and tired of knowing every single play this guy is going to call….

  215. avatar Terry Tate says:

Joe, no Ihedigbo threw the punch. #44

  216. avatar goodeyes23 says:

relax terry when your team turns the ball over 6 times and you allow only 13 points the defense deserves a pat on the back….schotty and sanchez were horrendous

  217. avatar hank/naples says:

    SchottenheimerIShorrendous;

I knew it was only a matter of time before the lynch Schotty mob would assemble.

  218. avatar Dylan says:

    Terry Tate,
Considering how many possessions the Bills had, 13 points is VERY good! I know we are all pissed at this team, but it really isnt fair to blame the defense. I agree this defense isn’t the Ravens D, but apart from last monday night, they have done pretty darn well. Every D has a bad game once in a while, though. Look at the Giants today. They were terrible!

I agree 100% on Sanchez., and I also think they play calling on offense was terrible today. I think we would have won today if we ran EVERY SINGLE TIME instead of throwing the ball and giving it away. The Browns were able to complete 2 passes and win so there is no reason we couldnt win without passing more than 10-15 times.

  219. avatar Brian Schottenheimer says:

Run game seems to be working, but I think I’ll have Mark throw an unnecessary pass. I am awesome.

  220. avatar Kyle says:

Yea, great, the defense allowed 13 points against a horrendous offense.

They also had only 1 picks and 1 sack the whole game.

  221. avatar goodeyes23 says:

basically the back page of the papers are gonna say “Same Old Jets”

  222. avatar Terry Tate says:

Dylan, agreed. I just want to see more turnovers if we blitz all game.

  223. avatar BigBear says:

I was disgusted with today. I was most disappointed with the lack of discipline. Penalties all over – false starts, holding, etc. If that was a called fake FG I will puke. A few Sanchez tosses that looked desparate.
Sanchez wasn’t as bad as stats suggest, but was another rookie game. Some poor clock mgmt, and questionable playcalling (tough I am not as down on Schotty as you guys). Somebody find the real Dustin Keller, or at least his hands / brains.

Look – I am still optimistic; chock this up to one really awful, gutwrenchingly bad week. How we bounce back the next couple weeks will show what kind of team we have.

  224. avatar goodeyes23 says:

kyle, 6 turnovers in an nfl game usually leads to at least 24 pts plus teams scoring on other possessions and thats being modest….the jets defense is far to blame…but in regards to a pass rush especially from our defensive ends, its ABSOLUTELY NON EXSISTANT and has been that way since john abraham left a few years ago

  225. avatar Terry Tate says:

Still early in the season. Continue to start Sanchez. Keep his confidence up and let him learn from his rookie mistakes. I am going to stay optimistic about the season.

  226. avatar Joe B. says:

Terry, no. Watch the replay. Ihedigbo threw a punch as well, but it didn’t land. The punch that landed was Murrell’s. Watch the replay.

  227. avatar Terry Tate says:

Joe, ooo ok. Sorry, I only saw Ihedigbo throw a punch. My bad.

  228. avatar goodeyes23 says:

i want washington to start returning punts again and give us a special teamsspark that has been missing to

  229. avatar goodeyes23 says:

you know what was funny during the game when sanchez kept trying to quiet the crowd when the jets kept making stupid false start penalties and turnovers…a series of boos followed…i guess everyone was getting frustrated with all the antics…i found that hysterical

  230. avatar rusty sanchez says:

i hate to jump on this fire schotty train but you guys are right he is very predictable isee myself calling alot of the plays…plus that stupid seminole play when it was 1st and 10 on the 11 for a no gainer totally sucked the life out of our offense and we settled for a fg meanwhile normal runs got us down there in the first place he shooda stuck with what was working

  231. avatar rusty sanchez says:

i think theres is a new rule on the way you can block on kick returns so its gonna be hard to get tds from leon on kick offs which sucks cause it seemed like he would break one at the right time and get the team fired up

  232. avatar Batman says:

im so disappointed that i wont patrol the streets on gotham tonight

  233. avatar supercooljetfan says:

to the fan psl stands for please stop losing!!!!

  234. avatar granny jay says:

    lmao @ batman

  235. avatar Neurojet says:

The Jets got “Sanchized” again. He lost this game for them just as he did the New Orleans game. When he’s good, he’s just ok. When he’s bad, he’s really horrible (5 ints, a fumble, a sack for 16 yards). Even then, he shouldn’t sit. He’s still the future and needs to learn how to get out of slumps like this by playing. Even Troy Aikman had a bad rookie season. The offense rushed for over 300 hundred yards but the effort was wasted. I thought the original plan before the season was to pound the ball on the ground and limit the exposure of the rookie quarterback, just like they did in Baltimore last year. The Steelers did it with Roethlisberger in his rookie year. All the “Sanchize” hype skewed it to him passing more than he should. This game shows that the running game might still get it done. Play Sanchez like the rookie that he is. The coaches shouldn’t let him lose the game.
The defense should also realize that they’re way overrated. They are near the bottom in takeaways and sacks, including games where they played inexperienced back-ups like Henne and Fitzpatrick. They couldn’t even stop these guys from marching down the field.

  236. avatar largebarge says:

    rusty sanchez

    I could’nt agree more!!!

I’ve always been a pretty big supporter 4 shotty, and I try not 2 hit the panic button everytime we lose…..But you’re completely rite….Shotty Has 2 Go!!! The man just can’t help himself…He’s constantly trying 2 re-invent the wheel!!! I thought we were supposed 2 be a “SMASHMOUTH” football team….Yet, Shotty kept calling deep passing plays, even after it was completely evident Sanchez was struggling with his accuracy!!! JUST SO FRIGGIN’ FRUSTRATING!!!

    Kyle

Too be honest I’m not a stat hound myself…I use my 2 eyes for judging players talents, and those 2 eyes tell me Kerry Rhodes is a damn good safety in this league!!!

  237. avatar RealityCheck says:

Maybe they are starting to take on the personality of their HC. Arrogant. Impulsive. Reckless. Outspoken. Classless.

  238. avatar Ryan says:

Anyone notice Jay cutler throws a million picks and has won NOTHING yet everyone still goes gaga over him oh yea and btw dudes in his 4th year. Made some good points on miked up Aikman and Bradshaw were both benched for a few games during their rookie season. The thing about Sanchez is he not the “game manager” type QB hes just either a bad QB or a really good QB and we dont know which yet. Kellen can probably be a game manager if they eventually feel its neccessary and nothing permanent I say bench him for a few games and see what happens. If it doesnt work out than the season is over anyway so just stick him back in and let him play.

  239. avatar RealityCheck says:

“I wouldn’t care if Thomas Jones got 400 yards, I don’t want to watch him run anymore. He’s got to go. I know he wasn’t the reason we couldn’t score for the last three quarters including overtime. But, if you’re not a part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem”

    Are you for real?

  240. avatar Bryce says:

    I just have a couple things…
As bad as the game was i just want to know why the acquisition of Braylon Edwards meant the offense had to abandon the dink and dunk west coast like offense the team has been running?? Just because you have a deep threat doesn’t mean you have to use it on every play just when they’re not expecting it.

I think Sanchez needs to keep starting, but i think the coaches need to pull back on how much they’re giving him. He seems afraid to throw the ball away or run for 2 or 3 yards, particularly when he’s in field goal range

  241. avatar supercooljetfan says:

im just sick of coming to this site every sunday nite talking about losses…it bothers me so much when the jets lose i cant even watch espn or sny and read the sports section of the newspaper tomorrow…i know its still early but the way we’ve been playin and the newa about jenks we’ll be lucky to beat the raiders

  242. avatar MattL says:

Come on guys….I’m disappointed as the next guy, but Sanchez is our future….let him get through this……..the D has been letting me down the last two weeks (i was at the Dolphin game…that was atrocious) . I know we went 3-0, but anyone that thought we would have won those three straight games would be lying. It very well might not be this year…but we have a good squad…let them build something.

  243. avatar Dylan says:

Even though Braylon didn’t have a great game receiving. It is obvious that having him at WR has really helped our running game. Sadly, our defense let us down last week, and our passing game this week. Even though we definitely have flaws, such as a pass rushing DE and a blocking TE who can catch the ball even a little bit, we can definitely be a good team if we can just put a good game together on both sides of the ball. Jenkins is a huge loss though. Rex is going to have to completely re-design the defense without him. Jenkins and Revis are the two most important players on defense with Harris a close 3rd. Losing Jenkins is terrible news.

  244. avatar largebarge says:

    MattL

Believe it or not…….I had them at 3-0 in the preseason!!!! Then again….I had them at 7-1 going into the BYE!!! Today was the straw that broke my back…..l’ve talked it over with my old man, & this will be our final year as season ticket holders!!!

  245. avatar BleedGreen says:

i don”t want leonhard returning punts, he does a terrible job. and i also want coleman cut from the team. two big penalties from him. he only has to take care of special teams and he still manages a way to fudge that up

  246. avatar Kotite Sucks says:

Ok i’ve been reading this swill for way too long without a comment….

    Large Barge,

You had some good comments earlier, but that Kerry Rhodes one was totally off base. Please refer to the Miami game where he gave no help to Revis (consequently the one time this season hes needed it) on the deep Ted Ginn TD. AND THEN he went on twitter RIGHT AFTER THE GAME and torched Revis saying that the TD was not on him…. Garbage! The last time we had a really convincing coaching shakeup was Parcells. He brought discipline and intelligent coaching to the team. Rex talks like he has the tenacity, but at the moment hes just a players’ coach. And we know where that gets us (see above). He needs to get tough and start benching guys for this junk. Aaron Glenn is only 37… is he available?

  247. avatar BleedGreen says:

guys, sanchez is bad. end of story. rookie or not. he is bad. the five interceptions didn’t bother as much as the retarded 30 yard sack he allowed. overall he’s just not a smart qb at all, has the intelligence of a pee wee football player

  248. avatar SteveMagzSec140 says:

How do you loose to a Backup QB……are u kidding me? totally disgusted

  249. avatar hank/naples says:

    HEY GUYS:

To make matters worse, we have a brand new division with Henne and NOW Fitzpatrick !!!

  250. avatar Jetski says:

Enough with blaming Sanchez….SCHOTTENHEIMER blew this game…..Schotty is awful and always has been!!!!! You can put in Clemens and you’ll get the same results…Just like they did with Favre….Now look how well Favre is doing..And don’t tell me it was Favre’s injury that made him so ineffective last year…If he was still on this team, he’d be awful….As long as Schotty is the oc, the offense will stink….They will never demote him though because then his daddy will get mad and then Schotty may never get that head coaching job…And afterall, isn’t that what’s most important??? It must be to Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson if they don’t let Rex demote Schottenheimer…

  251. avatar BleedGreen says:

I also now know why people laugh at me when I say the Jets are good. An utter embarrassment, they are pathetic. Typical Jets! Folks, if you want to make the playoffs/win a division/a god only knows super bowl.. you have to avoid mistakes. Not only did Sanchez throw 5 pics but, one long penalty after another.

    1) Penalties. Yes, guys.. they lost this game because of penalties not because of Mark Sanchez. Well may a little bit.

    2) Leonard should no longer return punts. Not only can he not return punts but, he also can’t make smart decisions. Washington was great. FIELD POSITION IS EVERYTHING !!! Especially when balls are getting spotted at the two yard line with a rookie qb and terrible offensive coordinator

    3) Playcalling. I want Scotty’s head. Get him out of New York. I’m tired of every Jet’s pass play being play action one after another. Jet’s offense is a repetitive bore.

    4) Coleman. You suck. Not only are you a terrible cornerback. But, you even find ways to fudge up special teams with holding penalties. FIELD POSITION IS HUGE FOLKS !!!!!!!! people seem to always forget that

    5) Weatherford. Even though Feeley wasn”t going to make that kick. Holding penalty was the reason we lost the game.

  252. avatar BleedGreen says:

Guys who committed the holding penalty on our offensive line that lost us the game and possibly the season????? When Jones ran it close to the twenty in overtime

  253. avatar miketaliaferro says:

Do ya think Rex believes unused timeouts roll over to the next game, like phone minutes?

  254. avatar miketaliaferro says:

    Ihedigbo is a thug.

Ground this Jet now. He should never fly again.

  255. avatar miketaliaferro says:

Someone tell Rex, “…bad things happen in that swamp…”

  256. avatar miketaliaferro says:

BTW, do you get the feeling yet that Rex is starting to realize that these guys aren’t the Ravens?

  257. avatar EastSide says:

1- This team lacks discipline. It’s showing all over and is embarrassing to watch.
    2- Ryan, Herm… I see no difference.
3- Ryan’s prophecy may come true by next year: Schottenheimer will be a head coach although certainly not one higher than the college level.
4- We are kidding ourselves if we don’t think this team is in rebuilding mode. Rookie HC, rookie QB, new system… Our early success was an anomaly.
5- Revis, Harris and Jones are the only ones that should pick up their paychecks on Monday.
6- Faneca, Clowney, Keller, Scott, Rhodes, Coleman and Douglas wouldn’t make very many teams if they played every game like they did Miami and today.

  258. avatar Joe22 says:

Rex looked like a first time coach out there today. He needs to get it together and quick or this is going to get real bad real soon.

  259. avatar Chris says:

Hate to say I told you so but Sanchez stinks- see my absolute opposition on draft day and this team has so many problems on both lines. This is because we have not handled the draft well and our FO/ coaching staff is inept and has not addressed the depth.

I continue to sit through these games and although I root like hell, privately I am disgusted and growing sick with this team. I like the aggressiveness in trades, etc but at the end of day- Woody Johnson is not a good owner and the short term vision has continued to leave us in a holding pattern.

Today was as bad as it get folks and I’m sick of hearing Rex Ryan saying they’ll turn it around. Results matter- too bad he opened his fat ass mouth so early.

Our D is soft, need a swift kick in the rear.

The only serious things that happened today, is the loss of Chris Jenkins…

Not to pile on, but can Leonhard do anything besides catch the punts? He does know he can run with it after….right?

I have been to some pathetic games in 28 years but yesterdays takes the cake. How a team that looked sp good the first 4 weeks turn to utter crap is beyond me.
I am going to lay the blame directly at the feet of the coaching staff. In the end they are responsible for what happens on the field, wether it is the game plan, the discipline of players, or consistancy of play. The game plan is predictablee, when you have 14 penalties your players are either totally over matched or totally undisciplined, their play consistantly sucks. It is official SOJ—and next week they will once again loose to the Raiders—-because that is what the SOJ do.

I’d rather this site do more reporting on things that happened, with actual insight and injury news and updates (without having to read the comments section for Jenkins news that Cimini is reporting), instead of high school journalism like this.

Some of the points written here felt so sophomore-ish I am starting to wonder if I should waste my time when other sources offer quick, hard-hitting, logical information actually needed, and not angry reactions from a fan.

Andrew should have left his rant for a comment section where people could call him names and he could fire back and everyone can have an insult contest. Disappointing post to have up on it’s own for 24 hours after the game.

i was at the game and didnt see that holding from hartsock in ot from the stands but everyone i know who saw it on tv said it was blatant…why would he do that knowing they were trying to get the ball spotted in the middle of the field ???plus anyoone here think feeley would hit that 50 yarder if they didnt botch the snap??

Why does Thomas Jones need to go? I’ll say it again..his feet stop moving as soon as he smacks into an opponent..yes, he can run for 70 yards when there is a hole big enough for him to squeeze through..but otherwise, he’s useless..I agree.. he needs to go and be replaced with Shonn Greene.

As for the the team sucking overall.. I agree..yesterday was just horrible..even my wife who never watches the games commiserated with me.. that’s a first!

I wouldn’t call our defense soft. We did knock out their starting QB and only gave up 296 yards in 5 quarters. This is Sanchez’s fault as well as the coaching staff’s fault. It is clear that Sanchez struggles in cold/windy/rainy conditions, and the coaching staff should be doing a better job getting him used to those conditions. Sanchez needs to pull his head out of his a$$ and stop forcing throws when he’s running from the pocket off of one foot (at least until he learns not to stare down the receiver). He will get better, but 5 int’s is horrendous. Why would Rex challenge the play on that punt return? Even if he won, it was a 6 yard difference. I’m praying these past 2 weeks were just Rex showing his inexperience at managing a game, and not a trend that is going to continue for the long haul.

steaming wreck of a team, as usual

better get callahan to stand closer to rex on the sideline. at least he has a clue. during games, rex reminds me of chris from ” family guy “.

This is humorous. Get rid of Thomas Jones after he rushed for 210 yards. Yep makes sense…

How about we never should have anointed Sanchez as savior before week 4 of the NFL season?
