Their Last Meeting: Amid their late season collapse, the Jets found a bright spot in the final days of the Mangini era beating the Bills after Abram Elam stripped the ball from J.P. Losman from behind while Shaun Ellis picked up the fumble and took it to the house for the game winner.

Ryan’s troops have certainly gotten a reality check during these past couple of weeks and although the wound is still sore, its time to move on and focus on the Bills who have been bumbling their way through the season with Dick Jauron a.k.a. the guy who Bills fans want fired.
The Jets defense looks like it will be on a rampage after the Monday night folly in Miami and if I was Jauron, I would be more concerned about protecting Edwards than getting pressure on Sanchez. The Jets could really use a win here at home and I’m hoping the defense and offense can work out most of their issues and get up to speed with this one game. How bad is the play calling? When the play calling is so poor, the play breaks down and Sanchez is left to fend for himself. So far, Sanchez has shown that he can’t do a thing, once the play breaks down. He ends up forcing the ball into the teeth of the defense. I hope Rex wakes up and changes things up, on Offense.

I’m not advocating using Kellen as the long-term starter, I expect to see Mark back under center next week in Oakland. If the kid doesn’t understand why he’s getting benched after four INTs, I just don’t know.

Fact, that was truly embarrasing. However, did you honestly expect sanchez to coast through the rest of the season unscathed? He is a ROOKIE and you know what as poor as he played, he still came up with a play in overtime to put us in position to win the game.
I am not making excuses, but Jenkins goes down and the defense plays pretty well in his absence.
You have to put this one on the playcalling. Sanchez was clearly laboring out there and we were running the ball at will. We continue to waste our first three possesions of the 2nd half by getting cute and not playing physical football. If we are going to turn this season around, Rex needs to step in and we need to start playing smashmouth (not just talking it). We ran for almost 300 yards and we lost the game because everytime we were ready to start pounding and putting on the accelarator, Schott called a garbage play action. If you are going to call those plays, tell the kid to throw it away unless he is WIDE open.
I am just as frustrated as any other fan. But you are calling for Sanchez to be benched?
We are 3-3 and that was a terrible loss. Let’s see how we respond next week. When you look at the AFC we are still right in the mix. If you asked anyone on this board if they would have taken 3-3 at this point, no one would have been dissapointed.

Sanchez was indeed horrible, though there’s no denying he has the talent to be a good QB in the years to come.
Besides the absurd amount of interceptions, the biggest reasons for this loss is:
- Unacceptable and egregious amount of penalties in crucial parts of the game, particularly that holding call in overtime by Hartstock to put the Jets our of field goal range when it looked like we had a sure win
- Horrible, Horrible play-calling by Schottenheimer. WHY make Sanchez throw the long ball, at certain points against the wind, when he was clearly not having a good game? And has this Brainiac ever heard of an f’ing SCREEN??? Leon is particularly suited for screens — WHY NO SCREENS TO LEON? minimal slants, no delayed hand-offs….
As bad as Sanchez was, the O-Coordinator did NOTHING to ADAPT to the circumstances and minimize potential for mistakes.

Good points ML, usually playoff teams are allowed 1 loss a season to an inferior opponent, i dont view the Dolphins as inferior to the Jets so this would be that game. With a fast start came higher expectations, and so because of that when they eventually came back to earth the critisism would be worse. I hate to keep harping on this point, but if coming into the season (when there was relatively modest expectations) a lot of us would have taken a 3-3 start to the season considering the difficult schedule we started with. Just as there was no reason to lose today, theres absolutely no reason to lost tommorow the jets are more talented than the raiders at EVERY position on the field. Even QB. But as we know talent doesnt always mean anything

SAME OLD JETS. You can change coaches and some of the faces but until you get rid of losers like Ellis, Pace and Thomas among many others, you will never build a winner.

No arguments with you that time on the bench (especially if we knew how talented the team was) might do him good. However, he clearly has showed us enough for us to understand that he can play in this league. I know there are people out there that feel Clemens did not get a fair shot but I do not really agree. He has, he could never legitiamately beat out Chad and he has never looke particularly good when he has gotten his chances. The year Chad went down, a lot of folks use our Injuries as an excuse for him, thats not fair. Players who are starters step up in those situations. He knew the system and he was not very good. I do not like his arm strength either.I was on the fence when we drafted Sanchez but at this point we have to ride it out. People are so quick to jump ship. I think he will be just fine long term. However, I do think it is time for us to consider relenquishing duties or just getting rid of Schottenheimer. As bad as we played today and as many penalties/Pics we had, we physically dominated the other team and he just did not call running plays when he should have. I am really getting tired of it. It also looked like he has instilled this obsession in Sanchez that he needs to get everyone touches and it is causing him to force instead of just play.
If you are the type to blame the player, fine, the coach should be able to see a clear cut problem that we can see at home.

The honeymoon is OVER…as bad as Sanchez was, and he was GOD AWFUL, the bottom line is penalties KILLED us. Sanchez’s let the Bills back in and made the game close, but we had it WON in OT. Hartstock should be GONE after today, he has done NOTHING. Hey, its a long season and there is a buttload of talent on this team, but you dont get it done on talent alone. You have to play smart. Anyone who is calling for Sanchez’s head should look on the bench and realize that KC would have took about 7 sacks this game. It seems like no matter who plays reciever for us, they are always blanketed in coverage. You watch other games and see guys from other teams and they are running WIDE OPEN. His schemes suck and are predictable as all hell. Let Callahan take over this year and ride it out until the off-season.
I never thought that this team would be a Super Bowl caliber team, but I thought that our defense was good enough to earn a playoff berth. For everyone who put them in the SB, its not happening this year. Its all come down to earth for Rex and Co. Your upset ryan blitzed on 3rd and seven and they were able to counter it. That play was maybe number 53 in game changing plays or play calls or decisions. It had no bearing what so ever on anything.
Ryan has this D playing well. The offensive playcalling was the sole reason for losing the game.

just got back from the game, the two biggest problems:
-Sanchez treats his checkdown guy as a primary receiver. Downfield, Braylon/Clowney/Keller are getting open, and Sanchez is staring down Leon in the flats.
-Shottenhiemer throws all creative play-calling in the toilet after the first quarter, of EVERY game!!!
