What to Watch: Bills Linebackers Are Thin

by Bassett on October 18th, 2009 at 10:28 am

While it’s good news for the Bills that Donte Whitner plans to play, I was watching AFC Playbook this morning and they were talking about all the injuries to the Bills linebacking corps, and here’s based on what I can piece together from around the web, what will be the starting linebackers today in East Rutherford.

Normal Starting Linebackers (I think)
OLB — Kawika Mitchell (knee – OUT)
MLB — Paul Posluszny (arm – OUT)
OLB — Keith Ellison (knee – QUESTIONABLE)

Current Starting (I think)
OLB — Ashlee Palmer
MLB — John Corto
OLB — Keith Ellison

One thing that the AFC Playbook guys did note extensively, was that John Corto is just over 200 pounds and playing MLB .. so basically he’s a safety playing linebacker and he’s getting turned out of plays by players that outweigh him substantially … when you think about it, even Tony Richardson would be a mismatch.

On Playbook they extensively talked about how the Jets should be able to push specifically John Corto around all game. Look to see how this plays out in today’s game.

Thoght I’d read Paul Posluszny (and Donte Whitner) fully practiced this week giving their D a big lift; he’s now out?

If so, good news for our run

Yes we better be able to run on them.

Lets also hope the Titans are gonna get it together today.

Levi, sorry to rain on your TITANS parade but they lost another corner in last weeks game…Hoping the TITANS get the running game going and keep Brady off the field but got a feeling Brady,Moss, and Welker light them up today in a BIG WAY…I’m rooting the TITANS on but not too optimistic they can get it done today….

Im praying the Titans run over them. Its just common knowledge whoever owns the ground wins the game….see last monday.
But Lets Hope we can get this ground game going this week and throw it deep to either The Clown or B Easy.

Not necessarily, the fins owned the colts on the ground, and that didn’t work out too well for them. Last week’s game was gonna be won by the last team to have the ball with adequate time to score.

The Colts dont count….Their the Colts.

This is the type of game where an offensive coordinator game plans to take advantage of a serious weakness. No Schott.
