Here’s post game video from after yesterday’s game. The clip has sound from Rex Ryan, Mark Sanchez, and Braylon Edwards.

He’s about to cry. Poor kid. Actually I shouldnt be saying that. He chose the money over getting more experience at USC. I cant blame him, I would’ve done the same.
Anyways, we should be easier on the guy.
He’s 22 years old.
On the drive that called back on the hold by hartsock, he made 2 solid throws. 1 completed to edwards and 1 I believe was misread by either him or keller. So he showed some resiliency.
His receivers yesterday other than Edwards were Wallace Wright and David Clowney.
In overtime, there were false starts, holding calls, etc. which make it really difficult to get 1st downs. -
Two things:
1 Penalty’s killed us and….
SAME OLD JETS!!!!!!!!!
I have been trying to be positive even after the deflating loss to Miami…but I can’t help but get that same old kick in the gut feeling S.O.J.
-
Brian:
This what disgusts me about Rex. He claims to be Honest, in your face honest, but then he must be blind. I have a vidio recording of the game and for every dropped pass, Franchez threw five ridiculous passes, this game, Miamis game, and NO’s game. No ifs, ands or buts.
Rex is so blind he is twisted and doesn’t know it. And that is what scares me!!
-
i dont feel bad for the midget.
-
I am not taking the blame off of Sanchez but this game has 16-13 written all over it if we just keep running the ball.
Its just that simple.
-
16-13 win for us
-
this game had 20-3 halftime lead written all over it if we attacked at the end of the first half instead of sit back, run 3 plays to kill the clock and opt for the safe play (field-goal, which missed)

No lose sight of the fact, Sanchez would be, could be (and maybe should) playing out his senior year in balmy Southern California.
He’s got the talent, no doubt. And, proved it in the preseason versus Kellen Clemens. He’s got to learn how to play in poor weather and check off his #1 wideout, Braylon Edwards, when he’s double-covered.
I’m scratching my head about Dustin Keller, who has been virtually invisable when you would think a pass catching tight end should be the biggest planet in a rookie QB’s orbit. What gives?
Like a toddler goin through his terrible twos, Sanchez needs to learn the world doesn’t involve around him. While I like his insticts, he’s just not ready to carry a team on his shoulders. Stop forcing plays that aren’t there. Rather, dink and dunk to Leon Washington in space or throw it out of bounds.
Be patient. He’ll learn. This is a growing season!
-
Whos going to buy a Sanchez jersey if he sits on the bench.?Are any of you going to run out and get a Clemmens jersey?
I thought Sanchez should of been bench for at least the rest of that game. He talks of fixing mistakes and i dont see it. i know Schottys play calling is horriable but i really thought Sanchez talent would prevail. The O-Line is not giving him 2 seconds to make a read which for a rookie i will try to give him a pass on stairing down receivers
The Defense is killing us because they are our strenght. i’m now going to have to attack Pettine and the formations be brings out. The 1st few plays at the beginning of the game were plane stupid. allmost al players were line up at the line with 1 on 1 CB and i believe Safty help. If our players were stout i’d understand but nope, bills run through the line every time setting the tone for the game. Do we have to blitz a guy every down? let the guys try to make some plays. in all of that disguise you kinda become predictable.
-
I knew Lito sheppard needed to back up his words this week. Luckliy he wasn’t faced against Owens because he was in fact the better receiver on Sunday. Lee Evans needed a little bit of space between him and Lito and he would win the matchup all day. Credit the secondary minus sheppard for holding fitzpatrick to minimal yards through the air. I hope this strikes Ryan really hard. It could have been worse really. fitzpatrick was beginning to move the offense.
-
Ryan’s scheme is not really flexible when you look at it. Sometimes four men down sometimes five. What happened to the 3-4 defense we had last year? Why not swallow your pride and tear a page out of Mangini’s defensive playbook and stop the run first?
-
Bent,
Tell me where?
-
Fonzie,
Are you kidding? Not flexible? You just said in the same paragraph Rex’s defense isn’t flexible but it has 3, 4, and 5 man fronts. Simply stunning…
-
might buy that Clemens jersey. maybe a t-shirt jersey. :)
-
Bent,
Its a disguised 4-3 formation that uses constant blitzes. That is NOT flexible. When your mentality is ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK it is not flexible if you put player A on one side player B on the ground and player C running back and forth. That is NOT flexible THAT IS helter skelter.
-
Ryan’s scheme is flexible in multiple ways. He can bring pressure form any level of the defense, he can overload a side, he can roll zone coverages from the far side to cover overload blitzes, he can change fronts, has different defensive formations, has different player packages.
In one week they went and used a DB-filled roster to beat the Pats pass-happy attack, then went and beat the Titans with their ground-and-pound style. That seems like flexibility to me…
-
A flexible defense is one that can change its defense week in and week out depending on the opponent. So BUDDY BOY puts more defensive backs in the game against the patriots in week 2. Well they didn’t have the player to stimulate their offense (Wes Welker) so he credits himself for it, but he doesn’t change. Its horrible.
-
Fonzie now you’re just having a selective memory. The Jets lost their starting CB, and their nickelback that game. So the two guys most in charge of guarding Welker were hurt in the first half, and we still won. Just stop please.
-
Its pathetic. Come on you are killing your players like this. For all we know David Harris can have a broken hand. All because he uses mutliple formations. Thats mularky!!! BUDDY BOY is a fat useless clown!!!!
-
I would love to battle Fonzi here but its seems my words would get lost in his translation as they normally would
Games like yesterday give Fonzie and other haters reason to continue to hate.
the defense is flexible fonzie …..just leave it at that
-
fonzie,
Is that even a coherent thought? You said we only beat the pats because Welker was out and Rex took credit for it. I simply stated that before the first half ended Sheppard and Strickland both got injured (the two guys who would have spent the most time guarding Welker).
I don’t even know what you’re trying to post. Harris is gonna break his hand because we used multiple formations? Come again?
-
It bothers me that losses and bad play causes fans and everyone on the message threads to agressively attack one another because of disagreements about why it went wrong..
you all are better than some of the crap you’re spewing.
-
ATTENTION JET FANS…STEP AWAY FROM THE LEDGE!
Yes, that was a horrible loss. One of the worse I’ve seen in my 20 years as a Jets fan, but that doesn’t mean this team should be torn apart and rebuilt. Sure, Sanchez was horrible and the coaching may not have been up to par, but we still have a promising core of young players and some decent coaching. It may take a few years to come together, but we are all overreacting to a bad loss.
-
2 things guys. One, as bad as Sanchez was and he was pretty bad, he wasn’t the reason the Jets lost this game. Penalties and coaching are to blame. Jets win that game if not for the holding penalty. Second thing, is all rookie’s are known to lock down on receivers. Sanchez’s main problem right now is he’s trying to do too much. Example, the 30 yard sack. Great QB’s take what the defense gives them.
-
For anyone who doesnt already know, it has been confirmed that Kris Jenkins is out for the season.
-
As bad as Sanchez looked in the cold, Pennington was often miserable in the wind too. At least he can learn how to deal with it, unlike Chad who simply never could overcome. 22 years old, good kid, he’s still our guy for the next decade.
-
Matt Res: We can only hope. I have yet to see an upside with him. Still don”t understand why you guys hyped him up so much. He has yet to throw for a 3 td/ 300 yd game. He experience only will make him a bust in new york. It may take him two years to develop, and I just don’t see that possibly in NY
-
Hermes,
Don’t see what being possible in NY? Sanchez developing in two years, or being able to live through two years and come out on top? Either situation has a pretty good example of working out in our fellow tenants, the Giants. People need to go back and look at Eli’s rookie stats. They are atrocious. But they stuck with him and he brought them a ring. Sanchez has a lot of good qualities you can see displayed, and once the mental side of the game catches up he’ll be a very, very good QB.
-
Ronnie is correct above.
This guys 2nd and 3rd receivers should be 4th and 5th receivers on bad team.
We were put in too many holes because of penalties especially in overtime. -
Wow!!! There is Panic all over the place. Easy guys, easy…
This kid Sanchez will get better, now he is confused and his teamates do not help him enough either. This team is NOT THE OLD JETS, the only question I have is ‘do we have someone to bring Sanchez along?’ Because he should be progressing not regressing.
Do not forget that this kid plays the most difficult position in the game. Tannabaum has to get the best QB coach. -
Despite Sanchez’s turnovers, the questionable play calling, the drops by receivers, etc., ad infinitum, we were still in position to win this game. All we had to do was NOT take a damn penalty and Harstock reached out and puts a death grip on losing.
That had to be about the dumbest thing I have ever seen in sports.
-
I don’t even know if I need to say it but yeah “Same ol’ Jets”. So sick of getting my hopes up, with Jenkins out and Sanchez playing like this we will be lucky to win 8 games. Let’s take our top 15 pick, grab a young DT/OT and call it a day.
-
I wouldnt rule out already having replacements on the offensive line. Slauson could be a potential successor for Fanaca at LG and Wayne Hunter could potentially replace Woody at RT. With all of our offensive players in place for the next 3-4 years (Sanchez, Greene, Washington, Cotchery, Keller, Edwards), the Jets are in perfect position to upgrade the defense, starting with the d-line, specifically a NT.
-
Jason, where was that confirmed?
I expect it, sadly, but I haven’t seen it out there yet. -
Revis- Absolutely. DT/NT is a must since Jenkins career could be in jeopardy. I really could see us limping to the BYE at 3-5 something that I would have never considered 2-3 weeks ago.
-
Hermes, thats exactly the problem with Schott right now. you said “Sanchez’s main problem right now is he’s trying to do too much. ”
That is certainly evident and I think its equally obvious that Schott isn’t reigning him it all. He’s not even making adjustments for the kid. He was missing throws early on, but we kept throwing it. Call some standard short passes with protection and let the kid just move the chains a few yards at a time, or just gain confidence in short completions, anything thats a positive. Thats all we needed to do. Punting the ball is not the end of the world, and its a lot better than creating 3rd and longs for Sanchez, he tries to do too much, and gets picked off, or makes a poor throw for an incompletion. this happened repeatedly.
It’s schott’s job to realize that hey, this kid is 22 years old, he doesn’t have the same grasp on the NFL game or playbook like pennington did. oh he just threw his 3rd INT, maybe we should scale him back a little. -
I know it sucks, and its a game you have to win— but there is a silver linning here; They turned the ball over SIX times, yet still should have won the game.
Remember the Giants SB year, when it took them like 6 weeks to acclimate to Spagnolo? Lets let the team adjust, and see what they bring.
My only dissapointment is the lack of big plays from the D. Stingy as hell, but no dynamic plays. The personnell is lacking though– outside of Jenkins the DL STINKS, lacks depth. The OLB have been poor this year, and we have gotten nothing out of the safties.
-
Bent, how reliable is it that the Ravens blogger reported on our NT’s injury? I already assumed it was an acl by the way his knee buckled, but was holding out hope it was just a sprain.
-
Brendan,
Like I said you can only hope! What I meant is his lack of experience can cost him two or three years to fully develop into a good football player. 2-3 Years to develop in NY feels like a lifetime. They will write him off! Do you listen to the radio at all????? They’re already started. I hate when people refer to Eli’s rookie season w/ Sanchez’s lackluster performance. Idiotic. Two complete different players.
1) Sanchez played 16 games in college ball. Eli did not.
2) Sanchez started the season, Eli did not.
3) Sanchez is playing for the Jets. Eli plays for a respectable franchise. Eli learned from a veteran qb, Kurt Warner… Pretty dam good compared to Clemens. Won’t you say?
4) Eli’s last name is Manning.
5) Rookie or not the performance last night was a complete and utter joke. You have to be god awful! Completely atrocious, to throw 5 interceptions when your rush game ran for over 300 yrds. The Bills in the second half, lined up as many man as possible against the rush.
6) Eli’s is tough as nails, mentally and physically. Sanchez is not. He’s practically crying on the field, while the game was still not over!!!! and still during the post game.Do rookie qb’s make mistakes? Yes.
Do rookie qb’s lock onto wide receivers? Yes
Do rookie qb’s play care less with the ball? Yes
Are rookie qb’s going to have bad games? Yes
^ That’s it. Don’t compare Eli Manning to Sanchez. It’s completely idiotic.Guys he’s not ready right now. End of story. He may become a great successful qb, but not today. Don’t defend his performance. Sanchez made the stupid decisions to squeeze the ball into tight coverage. Not Schotty
-
^ Yes, that is rather harsh criticism for a rookie qb. Especially when he didn’t lose this game! Yes, I said that. Penalties and Coaching did! Sanchez will be a solid qb one day, I can only hope. But, not right now. Maybe if they bring in a veteran qb, he can show him how to manage a football game.
-
* Talent only take’s you so far in professional sports !!!!!! Yes, that’s the big difference between college football and the nfl. Sanchez is talented. But, there also has been several first round draft qb’s who have been talented. Don’t defend him by saying, ” yea, but he shows promise… he’s talented” Lets pray he’s tough in the head mentally. Especially being a qb in NY. He rebounded from New Orleans and hopefully he can rebound against Oakland
-
Why is it idiotic to compare what one star QB draftee did in NYC compared to another? I don’t need you to tell me they’re different players.
So you’re saying the Jets aren’t a respectable franchise? The Gmen were 4-12 the year before drafting Eli, Jets were 9-7. Just records, I know, but you make it seem like the Jets are the Raiders or something. True, Eli had Warner, but Sanchez has Schotty who schooled two guys, not sure if you’ve heard of them, Drew Brees and Philip Rivers? Yeah, pretty good. Eli’s last name means about as much as his taste in music. Eli had some pretty awful games himself. He had a game his rookie year where he had a 0.0 QB rating. That is somehow worse than Sanchez’s from yesterday, another game he went 6-21 and threw 2 INT’s. Eli had his fair share of horrible showings his rookie season, and that was after spending 8 weeks on the bench learning.
Two things I never thought I’d see someone say is “Eli” and “tough as nails” in the same sentence. When he first came in the league he was chided for his childish mannerisms and ‘awww shucks!’ demeanor. Google “the eli manning face” for further details.
No one is saying he’s ready RIGHT NOW. But what I’m saying is look at the team we share a stadium with for a case study on why it’s wayyyy too early to give up on the kid.
-
I have to agree with Brendan. Sanchez has had some really rough moments, but i’ve never seen a QB look as bad as Eli did in his first season. Do you remember the 0 QB rating game against Baltimore? Sanchez looks like a rookie, which is what he is, but he has already proved to me that he has what it takes in this league.

It was confirmed on Rotoworld Check the link below

It’s just recycling the Lombardi story. I am going to wait until it goes up on yahoo sports or espn.
-
Yahoo Sports:
Oct 18 NT Kris Jenkins is out for an extended period of time, perhaps for the rest of the season. Jenkins left the game in the second quarter Sunday with what coach Rex Ryan said was a right knee injury that is “probably severe.” It happened when teammate Shaun Ellis rolled on him accidentally. “I felt bad about that,” Ellis said, “that I was a part of putting one of our best players out of the game. I have to live with that. … (Jenkins) said he was going to try and do everything he can to get back.” If he cannot, the Jets will have a massive hole to fill in the middle of their defense. Ellis admitted that it seems like a season-ender for Jenkins. “When you listen to him talking, it sounds that way,” Ellis said. “Once they get all the exams and the doctors look at him, we’ll know more.”
-
Nikolas,
Didn’t rex bring in his qb coach from baltimore? Another mistake from this fat pig.
You see nikolas what I am trying to explain to everyone else on this blog about the jets defense is that it is not flexible. The jets blitz about 63 percent of the time during the first three weeks. I have to check what that percentage is now. The defense is NOT flexible because it doesn’t plan each week to design a plan that is tailored to limiting the other team’s offense. They continue to come at the offense. Now we have potentially two players hurt. Harris Jenkins were part of the strength of this defense in the middle. Once the middle is eliminated which it might be the jets do not have a run defense. Rex can come up with all the exotic schemes to ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK but in the end they don’t have the anchors to stop the run. The jets on third down blitz more than any other team and when the opposing quarterback is given protection and time he kills them. How can Mangini a week ago win with Anderson who made a very poor completion percentage and still win the game. You might say special teams and josh cribbs but LOOK CLOSER Mangini’s defense was able to stifle the bills running game and passing game. Mangini is teaching his players not to lose games. Maybe rex for once in his life look at how Mangini runs things.
-
JesusRevis,
Its funny how you sound. We gave up 7 players for Greene and Edwards. Greene hasn’t shared any duties at runningback and Edwards doesn’t have a quarterback that can man up and deliver the ball to him. So its to negatives. The defensive line will take a lot more to build and be successful than just through the draft. This mistake goes back before mangini was even in new york. Mangini tried to fix the problem by getting jenkins but he knew jenkins was somewhat tired out physically before he joined the jets. I would have loved to see how mangini’s draft would have been with the jets this year.
-
Maybe its best that he is in Cleveland and doesn’t have to put up with the jets owner and his suck up pal.
-
Fonzie you are a joke. Just keep repeating your tired argument even when it was proven false on another story’s comments. The Jets defense is flexible. End of story.
-
Fonzie, Hugs not Drugs.
Just say no to the mary jane.
Your arguments are baseless. I am disgusted that we still have Schotty at OC. I believe he hampers our offense instead of helping it.
Blame the OC.
Rex is a breath of freash air compared to Mangini.
Callahan should take over the reigns at OC in the off season.
Go Jets!!!!!!
-
Keep your chin up Mark. It happens.
-
K Brendan. Keep telling yourself because Eli was able to come through from a terrible rookie season that Sanchez can too. Dumbass. There two completely different players. Not all first round draft qbs make it. But, okay lean on the fact that Eli Manning and Mark Sanchez are going to be identical players.
-
Add on: by the way. The Jets in no way are a respectable franchise. I love them to death but games like buffalo are why people will always laugh at us. They’ve done nothing since Namath. .. By the way I hope your right about Sanchez. I hope he’ll be able to come back from a potential horrific rookie season. I just really don’t see anything great about him. Even when he was doing well.

are you trying to make our day worse? lol
