    Anyone expecting Pouha to be the second coming of Jenks is in for a big disappointment. I expect plenty of four man lines in running downs. And what the heck is Ghoulston doing in the interior?

  2. avatar Bent says:

    Agreed. I hope he does a decent job, but I’m not expecting him to start dominating like Jenkins.

    Gholston has been doing pretty well as a NT on passing downs all year. They have also used Ellis in that role. He’s strong enough and it’s a nice easy assignment (Ready, Steady, PUSH!!!) for him. In case a short pass is completed, it is good to have someone that can break off and chase back downfield as a potential tackler. The most important aspect of this is irrelevant now though (giving Jenkins a break).

    Bon Jovi? Are you kidding me? That guy is such a hack. They should have gotten Phish to open the stadium.

    Bon Jovi is a Giants/ Juyzee guy. Hes opening Gaints’ Stadium part two and were just the tennants.

    Pouha doesnt need to make any huge plays. He just needs to NOT get blown backwards like kate moss in a windstorm.

    Sione will do what they ask him to to, not get pushed backwards, and if he can, try to occupy 2 blockers. Jenkins is a huge loss, but I still expect this team to be succesful defending the run. Ryan has all the prices for a 4 man front, now he just needs to price together the puzzle. Pace and Gholston should be our DE’s with Ellis, Pouha, Pituoitua, and DeVito rotating at DT.

    This opens it up for our linebackers. Scott can move to the weakside where he had 9.5 sacks a few years ago in Baltimore. Harris stays in the middle and we rotate Thomas, Westerman on the strong side. What stops this from working? Swallow the 3-4 pride and let’s
    play some defense.

    I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised with Pouha’s effort last week and in pre-season. I thought the guy was garbage but he seems to be getting it. He is not gonna swallow people whole like Big Jenks did but if he can occupy two guys, and if we can get Scott and Harris on track, this defense can still be stout.

    Under Mangini and Sutton and the read-and-react, Jenkins presence was irreplacable. Rex’s defense is a little more flexible and aggressive. Its not gonna be easy but I dont think this team is going to give up like 200 rushing yards a game and Jenkins, while great, is not the same pass rusher he was when he was 24 years old

    Bent;

    At one time Pouha was known to be the strongest Jet in weight room. He was also an “old ” rookie and I also believe was a preacher in his congragation. He has lost tons of games due to injuries. I know Reggie White was ” The Minister of Defense” but Pouha is better off serving as the teams Chaplain than our Nose Tackle.

    The only thing this has been good for is collecting his paycheck since Edwards drafted him. I wouls say this guy has cost the Jets abou $100,00 per tackle.

    We have to go to 4 man fronts and tons of guys on the line.

    I hope Jenkins dont take no Bad Medicine and comes back quick cause the Jets are WoHo!! Livin On a Prayer!!
