Mark Sanchez Wants to Be More Cold Weather Ready
On Monday, we joked tha Sanchez should start practicing in a cold storage facility, and he seems to agree (kind of).
On Wednesday, Sanchez addressed his plans for getting acclimated to throwing footballs in his new climate.
“It’s something that I just need to practice with when we get our opportunities here,” Sanchez said. “Even if we’re inside practicing, I need to go outside for 20 minutes and just handle it and get used to it. I haven’t played in that before, but I still wouldn’t attribute the weather to any of those bad plays. A windy day doesn’t affect your reads and the ball up to Braylon [Edwards], I’ve just got to put more air in it. [It's] the same thing with Dustin (Keller). The wind didn’t affect those at all.”
If he’s going to play in New York for the majority of his career, this is a wise decision for him. I get that guys like to practice inside in cold weather, but they have to play outside on Sundays, and anything that gives them an advantage over a warm weather or dome team should be used as an advantage. Sanchez needs to get used to the weather, and see it as Tom Brady does, to his advantage. Rex is a player’s coach, but letting his guys practice inside, at least during weeks of home games, might be doing them a disservice in the long-run.

Brain:
This is ( not getting) absurd !!! The more he opens his mouth will all this mia culpas and self critique, the more it shows he is an intimidated kid and the more he reminds all of us of his psyche implosion !!!
Rex, or someone on the team, should tell him to JUT SHUT UP !!! ITS GETTING SICKENING !!!!
But then again, take a look at where he resides.
I don’t know why this wasn’t addressed earlier – he never played below 55 degrees and everyone knows what NY weather is like. Would have made perfect sense to get him practicing outside whenever possible. Did they need to wait for a terrible game in bad weather to realize this?
Hey Parking Expert… 31 other teams probably realized it, but remember these are the Jets. I remember one of the ESPN experts talking about Sanchez during the draft, and saying he loved him for a warm weather team but wasn’t sure his arm was suited for an east coast climate. Great…
Obviously you can’t draw the conclusion off one game, but it sure doesn’t look good.
I still don’t like Mangini as a coach, but as time goes on, more of his ideas begin to gain value.
Here, his idea of practicing in the conditions you’d be facing — including rain, snow or cold wind — has merit. The bubble’s not going to help you play smashmouth in late Dec. Sanchez knows how to throw in ideal / warm weather / dome environments. He should be shoved out the door on every cold, crappy day Florham Park gets. The kid needs a weather callus. Doing it’s the only way.
While Rex picked up on the stereo playing idea, Mangini’s insane blasting of sheer noise might just have helped Sanchez in the Superdome. Just maybe…
Hank, so you’re upset at him for preparing for cold weather, and doing everything he can to win games in Nov / Dec? As far as his supposedly fragile psyche, people like you were saying the same thing after his implosion vs New Orleans – that he was going to be scared going to MIA for a national TV game. So what did he do? No turnovers, only one sack allowed, 88 passer rating.
You think you could wait a few more games before you say the kid is fragile? Or at least have some evidence to back it up?
Rex should take a page out of Mangini’s coaching manual. BE PREPARED!!! Rex must learn that the WHOLE team is NOT the defense, that there are three (3) parts to the whole.
Hey Sexy Rexy, your “slip” is showing !!!
Agreed Parking Expert. That doesn’t make any sense.
I disagree that statements like this show that Sanchez is an intimidated kid. He’s just trying to own up to his poor play. He’s aknowledging that he’s not used to playing in the cold, but he’s not trying to use that as an excuse for his terrible game. If anything, maybe he’s a little too hard on himself when he speaks to the media, but I don’t think it’s really a problem though.
This is exactly the type of proactive, “dust yourself off” mentality I want to see out Sanchez. I hope everyone knows that hes going to destroy OAK on Sunday under the Cali sunshine.
Practicing in the bad weather conditions will pay off when it really counts. Sometimes it seems that home field advantage doesn’t exist for the jets/giants because of the winds. Most recently you can point to Eli’s last post-season performance against the Eagles.
This was his FIRST game with not only cold weather but also 25 mph winds. He’ll learn to adapt and I guarantee he’ll have the advantage against opposing QBs for years to come.
Jeez… if Mangini comes up one more time, I swear I am going to puke. What are you guys bitching about? How is it a bad thing that he is pinpointing his weaknesses, verbalizing them, and working towards fixing them?
Pd4Pd:
“You think you could wait a few more games before you say the kid is fragile? Or at least have some evidence to back it up?”
You are NOT serious, are you? The only thing I can say to that is to read ALL the articles and ALL the “qoutes bout this guy and from this guy to get you nausaus.
It is just plain stupid to think that the more he talks the more he feels redeemed. It is almost like psychological flogging oneself.
STOP REMINDING FANS OF YOUR PERSONAL CATASTROPHY !!!
the picture at the top right/center of this page should have been foresight into what Nov/Dec was gonna be like for Sanchez.
I’d rather have Sanchez own up to the fact that he sucked last week than him act like Eli Manning. Every time he made a bad throw he went and yelled at someone on the team. Never his fault!
Hank,
It’s not like they have never practiced in crappy weather. They had an outdoor practice last week in the rain, and before the Tennessee game they were soaking the footballs in buckets of water so Sanchez would be more accustomed to the slippery ball. It’s not something you learn overnight when you’ve never had to face it before (aside from 2 or 3 games). I’m not saying it’s a season long adjustment, but he has never faced conditions like that and it’s hard to simulate rainy, 30 mph windy passing situations at practice.
Hey Mike T:
Your knowledable and intelligent. What are the odds for Mangini to reach the playoffs withing three years?
I think the weather deal is being a little over blown here….. Sanchez is not making it any easier but he is just answering the questions he is being asked.
There have been QB’s that have played in warm weather schools and have been successful in the NFL in a cold city….ummm A Rogers and Green Bay?
It comes down to experience. There are reasons rookie QB’s arent usually very good especailly one with less than 2 years of NCAA experience and then starting year one.
The problem is he is the best option we have to win and we need to protect him from games like last week.
Its going to take time….and the intimidated kid angle is just ridiculous…..
Enough with this Mangini love affair all of a sudden.
As to him being fragile…. I watched Sanchez flat out lose the New Orleans game and then come back and play his ass off on Monday on the road against Miami.
The kid is emotional and wants to win and not let his teammates and fans down…..This is a bad thing?
Brendan:
Question: Why does Franchez mention the time needed to go out side as twenty (20) minutes?
Why not 15 minutes or 30 minutes or maybe just practice in the weather you are going to be playing in, period.
hank/naples, not exactly sure what you would want to hear out of him then. he’s being honest and owning up to his mistakes, and commenting on what everyone knows he needs to do. this isn’t “psychological flogging” unless telling the truth is flogging to you…
any other team/coordinator knows sanchez is new to this climate and weather; it was in his scouting information. it’s not new, it’s not valuable information you can use against him. oppossing teams are not going to look at his quotes and say, “geez, that’s what we need to do.” in addition, i’d imagine his teammates are rather pleased he’s not hinting at an aging line, young/missing wr’s and poor playcalling; he’s highlighting his mistakes and stating he’s addressing them.
i actually find his comments more reassuring than alarming. plus, i’d rather he say what we all know that say nothing and then have to really wonder if he realizes his mistakes.
Hank – you are entitled to your opinion but your constant negativity and bashing of all things REX/Tanny (while simultaneously glorifying all things Mangini – how’s he doing in Cleveland?) are seriously starting to influence my decision to visit this blog as often as I do. You’ve said it 1000x, we all get it, does it have to enter into almost every single post, regardless of the topic????
Hank,
Nit-picking just a tad, aren’t we? There are 50+ other guys on the team. This is stuff Sanchez is talking about doing outside of their regular practice time.
sooo we were supposed to pass on a talented QB because he hasn’t played in cold weather before…
some people are soooo dumb.
Carson Palmer also played at USC would you have passed on him to?
The more I read some of you all’s comments the more I resent them.
“Hey Mike T:
Your knowledable and intelligent. What are the odds for Mangini to reach the playoffs withing three years?”
What are the odds he’s even still in Cleveland in 3 years?
you now who the problem is us we want to win a camp. so bad we dont realize we have a new team thats going to take some time pitt kept cohwer 15 years he won a champ. hey we have been to the playoff afc champ.won the division couple of times since 97 12 years but you cant keep going 3 years and change we have to stick to this.you will see we will win.stop creating reasons to fire coaches and staff. be positive if we win the next 10 games will you be happy yes. or loose 5/10 sad but next year win 14 games and win the afc would that not be worth it changing coaches all the time we will never win i see great times ahead if we just trust this time whats going on
Want to know who else wasnt suited for cold weather? Chad Pennington.
NYC parking expert :
Why are you bothered with the slant of my comments and not all the bashing of the “objective” media and their flock, I mean fans?
C’mon parking expert, get a grip on reality!!
Almost wishing for the mangini years now…
The best part about us winning 3 games in a row was that hank/naples was non-existant
The worst part of 3 losses in a row……
I love how the bandwagon just got a little lighter after loosing a few hitchhikers.
Please stop with the bashing of Sanchez, he will learn to play in the weather and Rex will learn to practice in it. Mangini may have learned a decent amount from Belichik but he is STILL A HORRIBLE COACH. So if anyone clamors for his return i have this to say to you: Cleveland is a MIRACLE 1-4 and ranked at the bottom of every category except penguin-looking dumbass headcoaches who alienate players, fans and dont adjust to any gametime conditions. I would take rex with a 5-11 season and Sanchez if he throws 25 picks over that moron.
negative nancys!
Brendan:
Not knit-picking just found it weird that he would cite a specific time that he would need to get aclimated to the weather. I mean, I spent over 50 years in NYC only to find out at the end that I coul not get aclimated to the cold and snow up to my asp.
Read this article about a rookie QB who threw eight picks in a three game losing streak and was told to stop pouting, and the coach who thought not sitting him was better for his development.
http://www.nytimes.com/1998/09/21/sports/pro-football-papa-told-manning-about-days-like-this.html
Please…can’t we all just ignore hank/naples? Maybe he’ll go away.
I guess maybe highly polarized, hyperbolic confrontations is what internet message boards were made for, but I just don’t buy into this zero sum approach to Mangini-Rex. Mangini is a genius so Rex sucks, Rex is the second coming so Mangini is awful. Reality is never that simplistic.
Rex is a rookie HC with an accomplished record as a DC. He’s got an aggressive, populist style that the FO felt was a good fit for where the team is now. He’s obviously got some things to learn about the top job. Whether he’ll learn them fast enough to win on a schedule acceptable to the FO, in order to keep his job, remains to be seen.
Mangini had one year as a DC when he took over a team that Herm let get away from him and the FO thought his controlled, disciplined approach was the right fit for where the team was at the time. He did plenty of good things, helped bring in some good players, got some big wins, but his learning curve as a HC didn’t deliver enough wins fast enough to keep his job.
By the way, the same went for Belichick his first time around as a HC. That’s the harsh reality of the job. Mangini being fired isn’t a referendum on him as a human being, he’s just in a tough business. So is Rex. His fate may be no different three years from now.
But, as a long time Jet fan, I hope that’s not the case. I want Rex to win, not because it will vindicate his approach, or condemn Mangini’s, but simply because it will mean the Jets have won. That’s my primary interest.
Not saying MS will become the best QB ever, but this just proves that his current stretch of poor play and indecision and public frustration doesn’t say he won’t either.
Hank,
That is nit-picking. You’re debating whether the time frame he gave, which was probably arbitrary and done on the spot as a guess, is something to complain about. He is a rookie. He isn’t all-knowing. Every answer he gives isn’t a set in stone proclamation. Give a rest already, he’s saying the right things, putting in the time & work, and you can tell he truly loves playing this game and playing in this city. You should be happy we have someone who loves it here and wants to win for the fans as badly as he does, not whining and dissecting every move and statement the kid makes.
Sanchez has a lot to learn. Everyone knew that going in. The fact that he was as successful as he was the firs three games made me a little more bullish on him than I was initially. He’s got to play and learn from the hard knocks. I get the criticism of his outward emotional display but I think it’s kind of a fine line. If he doesn’t seem negatively affected by throwing 5 picks, people would say he’s selfish and doesn’t care. If he shows too much remorse, he’s a psychological mess. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
aka drew & ramble –
amen brothers!
greg: Thanks for that link!
Not that I was about to quit on Sanchez anyways, but that link puts things in a better perspective. It’s very surreal reading articles like that.
I disagree mark, as a former QB and now QB coach, the wind asolutely affected his throws, it affects every QB’s throws. You can adjust realatively easily for the rain or the snow, but the wind makes throws that much harder.
One pass to B.E. was eaten alive by the wind
All you hank/mangini/pennington bashers:
1)The fact is that I was right on Farve and throwing Pennington under the bus.
2)I was right that we would play Miami last year for the division with Penningotn leading the way.
4)I was right when I criticized the trade of eight (8) player/picks for two (2) and you know who the two are.
3) I was right that Franchez does become a “deer in the headlight ” frozen when faced with a good defense.
4) I was right when I said that Franchez’s one huge flaw is locking onto his receivers.
5) I was right that he does not show enough cojones to stand in there shut up, and show firm psyche.
6) I have been criticized by all the koolaide drinking fans for all of the above.
Now, I will make another prediction: Mangini will win a Super Bowl before Rex, period end of sentence.
PS. And remember, Rex is now playing with Manginis team !!
I I I I I….
http://www.dawgsbynature.com/
you and Fonzie can argue who knows more over at this blog
Hank,
Pennington never has and never will lead his team to anything more than a quick playoff exit.
You’re criticizing of the trade is pointless. On one hand, those two player who you refuse to name (Sanchez, Edwards) are clearly better than the garbage they got in return for them. On the other hand, there are still picks that haven’t been made. You are judging a trade without all the information to judge it with.
Sanchez is a rookie. Every rookie gets deer in headlights one time or another. Every rookie locks onto his receivers early on in his career.
He lacks cojones? Really? Reeeeeeeeeally!? This is the same kid who took off 13 yards and powered his way into the endzone through a pro bowl safety. Yeah, cowering in the face of defenses, that Sanchez guy.
Oh, and I am RIGHT when I say you lack command of the numerical system, and a list that goes 1, 2, 4, 3, 4, 5, 6 can’t be taken seriously.
Your relentless defense of Mangini is puzzling. It’s almost like you’re an abuse victim who refuses to put any of the blame on the abuser.
JDB:
That wind bs by Franchez, goes along with everything else he has been saying the last three weeks.
I mean, what in the world will he have left to say if, God forbids, loses in the Black Hole?
He has absolutely used up all his mia culpas. I guess the only thing left is the rosary because continuous praying the “act of contrition” is clearly NOT working.
Its funny the only person that ever tells hank/naples he is correct or right about something is…….hank/naples.
um:
Thanks for the site. However there is nothing to debate….those two body builders are beyond human. Just incredible !!!!!
Hank, If you read the article, it says that Mark Sanchez was NOT blaming the wind at all, and just said that it was his own fault.
JDB is calling BS on that, and I believe he’s correct.
Why are you once again pinning this on Sanchez and acting like he’s making excuses?
“Oh, and I am RIGHT when I say you lack command of the numerical system, and a list that goes 1, 2, 4, 3, 4, 5, 6 can’t be taken seriously. ”
Lmao. And excellent response to that whole list.
Brendan:
You are half right/half wrong. The first name you got right for we gave up five(5) players/picks. The second one you are wrong. That player we gave up three (3) picks for.
And by the way, those two picks out of the first one, Mangini turned them into four, three of which are starting players
Hank,
In all fairness, Mangini was able to turn 3 of those picks into starters because he coaches the Browns. Those guys would not start on 95% of the teams in the league. Let’s see what types of careers these guys have before you start praising Mangini.
Brendan,
Join up and ignore Hank completely. He is so wrapped up in his man-crushes that he couldn’t recognize improvements to the team if he tripped over them. It’s pointless arguing with someone who is more concerned with being right than the team being good.
Again, I don’t think Ryan has to fail in order for Mangini to be successful. I also don’t think the trades between the two teams were a battle to be won or lost. In fact, I think the willingness of the two teams to work together multiple trades is an indication of cooperation and shared interest.
I do think Mangini made a mistake in taking the Cleveland HC job. It was a miserable situation that Romeo left behind and will likely not give him a chance to last long enough for his efforts to bear fruit. He probably should have followed the BB path and settled for a DC job where he could help a team win and wait for a better opportunity.
How many times does Hank need to hear that Mangini “turned those players into starters” because they play for the browns before he stops bringing that up? I know i’ve heard that before. I’m not sure it was hank but i think it’s a pretty safe assumption.
Yeah, I’ll join the boycott, but that list was just too ridiculous to ignore.
2g,
You are correct in your assumption, btw.
Hank -
You are so right about JETs fan throwning Pennington under the bus and then backing up….
I can almost still hear the FAVRE cheers…
It is too bad that Favre didn’t want to play for JETS, he is much better than Sanchez at this point of his career.
Would be nice for people to be realistic. the JETS are a .500 team and probably the 3rd best AFC East team right now.
The truth of the matter is, without people like Hank most of us would not have anyone to debate with.
Is NFLFan really Hank?
JesusRevis,
Not true. I have disagreed with everyone that posts here. We fight it out and move on. The site won’t come to a halt if he disappeared. But to love a coach who was so bad at his job and a QB who was clearly not a Superbowl caliber QB and use that as your vendetta against the new regime is insane. And for some reason it makes it into every argument with him.
Defensive line injuries? MANGINI AND CHAD WOULD NEVER LET THAT HAPPEN!!!
Danny Woodhead trying out the slot? MANGINI AND CHAD WOULD HAVE PUT A STOP TO IT!!!!
Jets lose to the Saints? MANGINI AND CHAD WOULD HAVE WON BY 50!!!!
It’s just the same tired argument that has worn everyone thin.
How does a topic about Mark Sanchez and cold weather degenerate into a discussion of how much of a football wizard Mangini is?
Back on Topic. The kid is a rookie, he will make mistakes. I for one like that the kid cares enough to get upset and wants to get better. Who knows if a few minutes a day in the cold will make a difference. At least he’s trying. I only hope he’s able to use his emotions for motivation and not second guessing himself on the field.
Sure JR -
No one can have a different opinion. There is only one person in the universe that disagrees with you.
Where do you think the team ranks in the AFC East?
Rudibager:
I never said that Franchez was making excuses. I said that enough is enough, that this is becoming pure BS.
Look, Mangini as ALL GOOD coaches, insist on the 5 second rule ( I believe that’s the time limit) be applied by all their players regardless if it celebration or disappointment!!!
For Rex, or anyone not to instill that rule, and allow him to publicly vervally flogg himself THREE WEEKS NOW, is absurd !!
What can we expect from him if he loses to Oakland. ………Now it can’t be more of this, can it?
NFLFan:
Very glad to see independent thinkers, NOT koolaid drinkers !!!!
NFLFan,
I’m just messing around, don’t get offended by a joke.
I would rank the Jets 2nd in the AFC East, behind the Patriots.
Rankings:
1. Patriots
2. Miami/Jets; If they both win Miami has the edge. Obviously if one wins and the other losses – enough said.
4. Bills
The best part about debating with Hank is …..he is so sure he is correct and even makes list of what he said to try and provide evidence that he is right….
The truth is he is usually wrong and having 20 Jet fans explain that to him (while it is always frustrating) does bring the “Kool-Aid” drinkers together after a bad loss.
I still think the Jets are a better football team than Miami. I’m pretty confident we will finish ahead of them at the end of the season, and I think that’s more than fair.
NFLFan:
You must get to know Jesus. He likes to fool arround alot. Actually I find it hard sometimes to tke him seriusly.
Like now, taking the Jets over the ‘Phins
Hank,
you told me I was nuts for calling Darrelle Revis the best corner the Jets have ever had, you named a bunch of former Jets corners and compared them to Revis favorably, although the truth was none of those guys, or any corner to play for the Jets, could ever stand on the same field as “Hell Relle”. Should I constantly remind you of all the wrong things you’ve said, or should we only listen to the things you were “right” about
Hank,
I can’t take you seriously, because YOU”RE A JOKE
AKA:
See, it took a while but you finally hit upon it.
You think that 20 Jet fans is the center of your football universe. There is a whole galaxy out here that disagree with you Drew.
Wake up and smell the coffee.
Hank,
Serious question, do you think this team is better with Mangini at the helm and Pennington at QB? Does that combo ever lead the Jets to the Superbowl?
Jesus:
Are you joking now, or are you getting serious?
hank,
I would like to know if it is OK for me to like chocolate chip cookies? Please respond ASAP, I am hungry!!
Brendan:
After the second game of the preseason last year, the whole organization did a 90* on me and the other 90* at seasons end.
For those very reasons I can’t answer the question put that way.
What I will say that the team, at the second week of the preseason last year, with Mangini and Pennington starting was ABSOLUTELY IN BETTER POSITION TO WIN IT ALL, than how the team stands today.
Does that answer your question?
Twirpdowg:
Sorry guy, I don’t want to be liable for a lawsuit, you better go ask your mother.
The Jets over the ‘Phins makes it hard to take me seriously? Ever comment you have made has made it impossible for me to take you seriously. It’s one thing if you disagree with what some people have to say, but you seem to disagree with EVERYONE, all the time. Some people here may be drinking the kool-aid, but you are constantly drinking hater-aid. You have never said one good thing about this team and I find it dusgusting. I love Chad Pennington, he is the definition of what an NFL player should be as far as heart, determination, work ethic, leadership, etc. But anyone with half a brain could tell you he would never lead the Jets to a super bowl, so Tannenbaum took a chance on Favre, and it was a good move, get over it. And as far as Mangini, I don’t even know what to tell you, if you love the guy that much then becomes a Browns fan, go annoy some people on their website, because you seem to be outlasting your welcome here, buddy.
Hank,
The whole “galaxy” of football fans isn’t here. There are a few Jet fans though. Shouldn’t it tell you something when maybe one person agrees with you and about 15-20 others don’t? It’s a sample size of larger group of nfl and jet fans.
Wow. That answers a whole lot of my questions about you. You seriously think, with the read-and-react defense of last year that Pennington’s noodle arm would win us a superbowl? Or put us in better position, in the long run, to win one in the future? In case you haven’t noticed his shoulder is currently held together with bubblegum, bobby pins and some Elmer’s glue. He got decimated by the Ravens last year. In that game, he looked like Sanchez looked this past Sunday. I just can’t get over it. And you like to bring up how Rex was overmatched. Mangini was overmatched by Tom (The) Cable (Guy), Mike Singletary, and Tony Sparano. It’s not like Mangini was the greatest coach in the league. And I know you think he’s turning the Browns franchise around, but in reality he is just making it worse. Turning a stud and a future franchise QB (who, I’m willing to bet, will greatly outperform Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson over the course of time) into “multiple starters” is great…..when those players should be starters. None of the players the Jets gave to the Browns are starter-worthy, except Alex Mack (no Nick Mangold, btw), mayyyyybe Stuckey, and mayyyyyyyyybe Kenyon Coleman as a run stopping specialist.
hank,
Sorry I was just looking for something to go with my kool-aid!
Any way you slice it you can come here and complain all you want, but Mangini isn’t the coach of this team anymore and Pennington is possibly done with football for good. You spend a lot of time and effort criticizing this team and it’s direction. How about spending some energy on what the current management and players can be doing to be doing to be successful?
Live in the now, Man!
Jesus:
I’m going to take a chance now and think you are beign serious.
But, re-reading your comments I find them very hard to take them seriously when you say I ” never have anything good to say about the Jets”
Go back to last year when the “experts” and Vegas picked the Jets with fo seven (7) Wins.
I was outraged and spoke out loudly, defending the Jets to go to the playoffs. I was the first to applaud Tennenbaum for trading for Jenkins, and biding our outside demon Pace away from Miami.
So Jesus, dont spread lies about me. You could open yourself up for libel.
By the way, do you know who arranged that helicopter ride with Harris that convinced Pace to sign with us? You guess it right, didn’t you………..Name starts with M
And who was fighting off attack dogs at 12:01 of free agency in Bart Scott’s front yard? Rex.
Were you truly upset when Mangini was fired? Did you really sit there thinking ’shoot…he was the one. he was the guy that was going to take us to the promised land’? Because you have to be the only Jets fan who is still campaigning for Mangini.
I don’t know how the season will turn out because the season rests on the maturation or our rookie QB, who has been both great and awful. He’s a 22-year old kid and he has a lot to learn, both as a player and a leader. But, at 3-3, he has, so far, the best record of any rookie Jets QB in franchise history. It’s easy to be negative after a stink bomb game, but I’m giving the kid a break. His talent is just too obvious and many of his mistakes are made by almost all rookie QBs. Let’s see how he does the next 2 weeks. IMO, if he survives with his body and mind intact through then, we will see a different QB after the bye week. He’ll have time to review his mistakes without the media spotlight and he’ll have 2 weeks of practice in cold weather. Keep the faith!
When Rex first anounced that Mark is going to be our starting QB I felt our chances of going to the post season was over. After the first three games I was so happy to eat my words and give him all the credit.
Now days after the Bills game, I have come to realize my first assumption was correct. Mark has 5 TD’s and 10 INT’s. If I am correct, he was well on his way to having at least three more during this season that players have dropped.
Mark has shown that he has talent but needs to suck on a bottle this year and grow up. If he shuts up like Hank said or cries like a baby it dosen’t matter unless somehow we learn to win with a rookie QB and a rookie HC.
Thank you 2g for understanding what Hank clearly missed in what I said.
The fact is there are 15-20 “Kool-Aid” drinkers on this blog (as Hank likes to call us) that consistenly have to bring Hank back to reality. even though he still fights it
Continue to make your lists and think you make some type of sense when you rant …..
Coffee?? Cant smell the coffee Hank….I mixing up a fresh batch of Kool-Aid….Let me know when you want some!!
The jets HAVE NO idea what is in store for them in Oakland on Sunday. If the jets lose this game it will give more reason for Ryan to shut his mouth and I hope he continously embarasses himself in the media. Pretty soon the media is going to cut him off.
Why, as a Jet fan, would you hope that? So you can come on this blog and say you were right about him? I don’t understand people sometimes.
Magini was still not a really good coach after three years. After three years if Rex still making all his “rookie” coach mistakes then talk to me. Sanchez is a rookie, a ROOKIE! Please Jets fans you can’t have the cake (Rookie QB) and eat it too (Super Bowl). Not to mention that Sanchez is a rookie qb in none other place than NYC where talented atheletes are chewed and spit out in no time flat. Give me a break…those of you who thought there were going to be playoff for us this year get a reality check.
Fonzie,
You’re making it hard to believe you’re a Jets fan with comments like that. You want them to fail? Why? This is the way he is. It’s not changing, he’s not going to quiet down, he’s going to all of a sudden become like Robot Coach in Cleveland and give one word, mumbled answers.
*him to fail.
Fonzie and Hank,
Please leave us alone. You’re both extremely annoying.
I think we should be more interested in how the team is losing or winning its game more than whether or not we win them. Its a given that we all want them to win, but its just unrealistic and probably unwise to set any expectations at this point… especially now that Jenkins is done. Yes, we might lose this week, but if we control the clock and win the possession game, we eliminate stupid penalties, and we make calls on offense that reflect a desire to protect Mark Sanchez… than we have taken a step forward. At this point, the game last week was as low as you can go in my eyes. We hit rock bottom in all 4 phases (coaching included)… so it cant get any worse than that. Reality hit me in the face this week and I am realistically looking forward to watching us improve this year as an organization and as a fanbase. In a few years we should have something special.
Fonzie, Hank and anyone else who makes the effort to come on this blog just to rile people up are clearly only doing it for that reason and should therefore be ignored. People referring to Mangini and Pennington at this point are living in the past and are probably only doing it to again, rile people up. Just igonre them please and they will stop.
Here is a question -
What happens if Oakland shows up like they did against the Eagles (which is a better team right now than the JETS) and the JETS lose?
I think Rex thinks he can use the same formula that was used with the Ravens – Rookie QB, Good Running and Awesome Def.
Problem is the Running isn’t as good and the DEF isn’t close to what he had in Baltimore
Was the bar set way to high in the begining of the sason and during the first 3 games?
Brendan:
Fonzie doesn’t want “them” to fail, he just wants Rex to shut up and stop embarrasing himself and the Jets name to those ouside the Jets universe.
I mean seriously, Jets fans outside of NY were not very much liked before Rex, can you imagine how our image as braggadocius insolent fans has deterriorated since Rex? Can you imagine what ridicule those fans ouside of New York will be subjected to?
We would be even more hated in the event we do win !!!
I would add NFLFan to the list with Hank and Fonzie as people to ignore. Just another troll who is trying to rile up the masses.
Who cares what hank/naples has to say: he destroys all his credibility by never admitting he is wrong… so even if he right once in a while, it’s unimportant.
What is important is how much Cotchery played today… limited? walkthru only? I havent seen anywhere.
NFLFan,
For your information, the Ravens defense stinks this year
Hank – You say Fonzie doesn’t want the Jets to fail but when he posts comments like this…
“I truly hope that Owen Daniels sometime during the opening game drills and RUNS OVER Kerry Rhodes! This will show everyone how intimidating and elite he is!”
“I am loving this. GOLDEN BOY has truly shown his colors running the offense. I hope you are loving this constable Johnson!!!” (Just after Sanchez fumbled in the endzone against the Saints)
…then I’m sure you can see how that would get on people’s nerves.
Bent:
As you can guess, Fonzie is NOT someone that drinks the green koolaide or follows the party line.
The comments you have brought up is a testament to the disdain he feels towards “Hallowood” Rhodesand his I’m great, arogant attitude.
Also, the total phony PR campaing orchestarted to sell PSL’s and the fans the image of Franchez as the second comming of Joe Namath, The Golden Boy, The Savior.
It’s a shame, but the losers at the end are not the owner(s), not the players but the fans. We know that to be true.
Hank/Naples
why is the rule 5 seconds? Why not 3 seconds or 10 seconds?
how do you do call yourselves jets fans?
You don’t have to ‘drink the koolaide’ to think positive, or not bash everything the jets organization does. That’s why no one likes you guys…. cause all you do is complain and bash every decision made.
Yeah, some of us fans don’t always like how things go, or pan out. but we don’t constantly do what you 2 do.
jetfanATL:
That’s a good question. I’m not sure of the exact time alloted, although I researched but couln’t find it.
However, it is a definitive amount of short time that a person should allow onself to immerse in celebration of a good act, or self analysis/recognition of a wrong act. A person is encouraged to move on shortly after the act or it becomes axagerated, and therefore transcends into a prolonged negative effect.
Fonzie and Hank/Naples are the same person.
Well, not actually. Actually they are father and son, Hank being the father. Hank himself said so a few months ago when he accidentally posted under Fonzie’s name, then corrected himself.
So it’s of no surprise that the apple has fallen near the tree. But it’s always amusing when they support each other’s posts.
Personally I’ve stopped responding to them, not so much because my views differ from theirs, (which they usually do), but because they just tend to belabor the same points over and over.
I mean the most prominent Woody associated with the Jets isn’t Johnson, but rather the woody Hank has for Mangini. And reading about Hank’s woody on a regular basis is pretty boring.
um:
“That’s why no one likes you guys…. cause all you do is complain and bash every decision made.”
Sorry to hear that but we have matured way past that stage and ,contrary to popular belief , we do not bash EVERY decision made. Just the most hypocritical or the one that can have the most adverse effect on the team
StvDoe:
Actually you are right and wrong. I do have a woody but believe me is not for Mangini, it is for………Tannwoody. They are the real F’ups in the organization and I’ve been trying to tell you this since last year!!
I just want to see the GOLDEN BOY cry on television.. (hopefully it happens this sunday! Boy that would be my wish!!! I want to see what REX does when CHEEZY falls himself )
That would be it for me. To show you guys what 50 MILLION DOLLARS worth of a player is!!! FIVE PLAYERS FOR ONE IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE AND IF YOU GUYS BUY IT I QUESTION YOUR CHARACTER AS INDIVIDUALS!!!!!!
LOL, already passing judgment on a rookie QB just 6 games into his NFL career. Madness, just madness.
Fonzie,
Do you miss Kenyon Coleman’s corpse at DE? Do you miss Brett Ratliff’s clipboard capabilities? Do you miss Abram Elam’s slow-as-molasses pass coverage?
Coleman would have been a back-of-the-rotation d-lineman on this team. Ratliff would’ve been fighting for the 3rd QB spot. Elam would be buried on the depth chart.
If you want to be technical, we actually got one player for SEVEN PLAYERS!!! Fonzie, I bet you didn’t even know you could have a better argument!! Oh wait, those players are Alex Mack (Sanchez will be more valuable to us than Mack is to the Browns), Coye Francis (2 tackles, 4th CB), David Veikune (inactive DE), and James Davis, who Mangini allowed to practice without pads, get smashed by someone in pads, and get shelved for the entire season.
You make it seem like Mangini got 7 quality starters from us. He got spare parts, a center with a bright future, and 3 impactless rookies. Calm down.
And why would you want/hope that our QB falls apart? We are with this kid for better or for worse. Rex, too. You would have rather gone to war with Mangini and Clemens than Rex and Sanchez? Complete joke.
Hahaha — I forgot that hank/naples and Fonzie were father and son. Can we please just ignore The Trolls from now on?
Troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
By continuously discussing the same thing over and over (we all get it already, why do you have to keep saying the SAME THINGS, we know your stance), they fall right into this category. Please ignore them. This will be my last post about The Troll family.
