Yeah, I remember the salary cap fiasco. Every day I would come to TJB and Bent would have a nice number of cap space, only to go to NFP and see Lombardi had us pegged $30 million over the cap or some ridiculous number. I believe Bassett posted the response, or at least excerpts from it, and it was pretty condescending.

From listening to Bill Simmons' podcasts, Lombardi seems like a pretty OK guy, but his relentless anti-Jets sentiment makes me want to lock him in a room with Bart Scott with someone reading his anti-Jets banter over and over.

When Lombardi suggested the Jets were in cap jail but we doubted this, Bassett e-mailed Lombardi asking if he was absolutely sure that was the case and could he give any specifics and received back a rather dismissive e-mail.

I think he got some dodgy information from his sources about the Jets cap situation so it's understandable that he got that wrong, but the response he gave to Bassett seemed to assume we didn't know what we were talking about, which rubbed several readers up the wrong way if I remember correctly.

I'd be more interested to see you challenge him on his repeated bashing of Gholston. Yes, we know he hasn't lived up the the 6th pick and may never do so, but he is performing at a level way above that of 12 months ago, so it would be interesting to see if Lombardi will acknowledge that fact.

Interesting guest. As recently as a few weeks ago, he refused to acknowledge any positives from Vernon Gholston.

I believe he owes Bassett an apology too.
