On the Wildcat…
We just got done playing Miami a couple of weeks ago and now we’re turning right back around to play these guys again. They handled it very well. The Wildcat is crazy. There are a lot of things that go on in that backfield and you have to be very disciplined. We don’t know what the game plan is this week because we’re not focused on them yet right now, but when we do I’m sure the coaches will do a good job each week to prepare the best way they can.
On the first game against Miami…
We put a lot of things into the game plan that we thought was going to destroy the Wildcat. Obviously, it didn’t. There were some little things that we looked at on the film that they executed. They found different ways to beat us. We were very upset about that loss. This week we are going to be focused and ready to go. We’re going to be prepared because we want to get this win.
On how important it is to go into the bye week at 5-3…
That is good for us if we can do that. This conference is very tough week in and week out. You never know at the end who is going to end up on top. It happened last year and now the (division) has gotten better. Miami has gotten better, Buffalo at times can hang in there and the Patriots are good as well. You never know who is going to win week in and week out. I just think we need to be consistent every week. We just have to go out there and compete.

I’m pretty sure Revis is looking forward to a rematch against Ted Ginn
its crazy watching him play…he only been in the league 3 years now and im already putting him up there as one of the best cb’s to ever play for the jets…im still young where as of now aaron glenn is prob tops on my list but only because revis hasnt been around that long
he got burnt by the worst wr in the league last time they played miami
IT WAS A ZONE
freshAShell, you must be LIVINGinAShell….Darrell Revis is,if not the BEST corner in football, then DEFINITELY top 3. EVERYONE has a bad game here and there, and he got caught SLEEPING on THAT play. It probably was the BEST thing that could have happened to him! He was embarrassed(and NOONE takes their game more seriously than Revis) and I GUARANTEE that will not happen again this week! Ted Ginn Jr. is in for a VERY LONG day come 1:00 Sunday. As far as the WILDCAT goes, the dolphins execute it BETTER than ANY team in football, and without JINX and POSSIBLY Ellis, its going to be a VERY tough week. I HONESTLY think that we are still gonna win the game, and Im NOT just saying that because Im OBVIOUSLY a JETS fan,I just think that we will make the right adjustments to slow the wildcat down just enough to give our OFFENSE a chance to win. HOPEFULLY COTCH and B.SMITH will play this week and KELLER needs to get involved a little more. I dont even wanna talk about LEONS inju….ANYWAYS,Greene looked very good in his place and I dont see our running game having to much of a MAJOR setback. That being said,GET WELL QUICK LEON,cant wait to see you out on the field again! J-E-T-S JETS! JETS!! JETS!!!
Like Green Lantern said that Ginn catch was zone coverage that was Rhodes responsibility
even if it was his fault, for him to get burned only once in the first 7 games is still pretty dam good…so lets stop talking about that play because thats gonna be the highlight of ginns career
Rhodes failed to provide Revis with safety support on that play. Failed design, blown play by Rhodes as usual.
Does anybody know what is wrong with Dustin Keller? He is never out there on run plays, and he looks lost in the passing game.
Even if what was his fault? It was Rhodes who got beat. Revis let him go into coverage. Don’t meet these trolls halfway.
Although I will meet him halfway on this: Ginn could be the worst WR in the league.
What actually happened was that Revis clearly got beaten, but Rhodes should have been there in safety support, except he bit on the playfake to Brown and couldn’t recover. It’s hardly surprising he bit on that fake considering how easily the Dolphins were moving the ball on the ground, especially when he can usually afford to leave Revis to fend for himself.
Both guys were definitely at fault. I watched this several times to figure out how it happened. It’s not as simple as “Revis let him go” because Revis’ assignment is not to get beaten – Rhodes was lined up fairly deep in case that happened and chose a bad time to abandon that responsibility, but ideally, Revis is supposed to stay with him and then Rhodes can roam free.
“blown play by Rhodes as usual”
Rhodes has actually graded out really well this year in terms of NOT blowing plays, especially in coverage. That particular play was very bad because both Revis and Rhodes made a rare mistake at the same time as Miami called the perfect play with the Jets creeping up to the line. I doubt that will happen too often.
If you watch the play Revis did get beat by Ginn on that play BUT he also knew that he had a safety over the top where Rhodes should have made the play.It was a 50/50 responsibilty on that play Revis/Rhodes but with the effective running of the wildcat who expected Miami to throw one over the top.Revis by far one of if not the best CB in football today..
When your D Revis and have reached elite CB staus you cant let a player like T Ginn Jr come close to beating you on a deep double move….. yea K Rhodes was suppsoed to be there to help but its Revis’s job not to get beat and he did…as shocked as it was to see.
Watching the Saints/Dolphins game this wknd it became very apparent that Ted Ginn is horrible. He has great speed and can catch a deep ball if thrown right in the bread basket, but the guy was dropping easy passes and passes he HAS to catch.
it is absolutely critical for the jets to be at 5-3 before the bye week, it puts them in a better position in the division with the rest of the schedule falling into place, i see the jets winning a wild card this year.
