Someone please notify this moron at SNY that the rivalry with the Fish goes way beyond that of the Pats albeit it was before this moron was probably born, and anyone who remembers Don Shula stealing the AFC Championship by soaking the field and getting away with it will never forgive this team.
Who hires these bozos. Don’t they believe in any research at all.
We just hung the worst loss in team history on the other hated, long time rival, the Raiders.
I may be old, but unlike this reporter, I not be a moron.
Harlan — Upon watching that clip I immediately came to the comments page to make essentially the same comment you just made.
The Jets/Pats hatred stems from Parcells’ jaunt in the AFC East, and the incest that followed. The Jets/Fins rivalry — the greatest in the AFC, in my opinion — has far deeper roots.
Don’t get me wrong — I live in the greater Boston area. Every bad thing you’ve ever heard about Pats fans was under-reported. They are the worst.
The Jets/Fins rivalry is Old School. I like Old School.
Yup the Jets v Fins rivalry goes way back, decades of pure hate and disgust. Even the Raiders rivalry is there. But the Rivalry between the Patriots is more recent which is why its known more. The 30+ players switching teams, exchange of coaches/personnel.
Yes I get the old school rivalry, But I guess I hate the Pats more. I also have relatives who root for the Pats,So that makes it worse. This actually brings problems at gatherings.
The funny thing is that even if there was never a rivalry before, what about the last two years suddenly makes it a rivalry? That the Dolphins won the division last year in the last game and then beat the Jets at home this year? That they use the wildcat? That they play the Jets twice? How is the recent Jets-Dolphins any more of a rivalry than Bills-Pats or Jets-Bills? What a dweeb.
I came running here as soon as that kid opened his mouth and shoved his foot in it. Looks like Oberfool is being gang-tackled here. Good. Moron.
The AFC East (along w/ the AFC West) is completely made up of AFL teams, so all of the matchups are intense. We’ve all hated each other since 1960.
But specialty rivalries? Def. NYJ-Dolphins.
Pats-Jets? Well, that’s always been hard-fought, but over the years one has usually been up with the other down on their luck. Many of these games were blow-outs or otherwise ugly. Always tough, but no real animosity there until Parcells jumped to the Jets. From then on, ugly, ugly, ugly.
But, Miami? From ‘66 – ’70s, again, one would be up and the other down, so you couldn’t really build something there. But come the ’80s, boy, batten down the hatches. Both teams got good at the same time. Like most fights, no one knows who started it, but it’s been there since. They hate us; we hate them. Through every generation — which is the hallmark of a good rivalry.
Buffalo? Always tough, intra-state, and all that. But no special heat there either. The OJ era sucked because they just ran over us and everyone. The Super Bowl years were hard, but they clobbered everyone, no one could stop them during a season. So there was nothing personal about that.
Nope, still the Phins. Whether the Mud Bowl, all the shoot-outs, the comebacks, the Spike TD, A J Duhe, Jason Taylor, on and on, it goes to the Wildcat and Crowder.

So they should change teams right?

It’s up there with Bears-Vikes or KC-Raiders.
