He, and many others, fall into the same old, tired trap.
SOJ is not about a Jets loss. Period. Every team in the NFL loses. Again, period.
It’s about composure, smarts, toughness and professionalism along with team and individual acceptance of responsibility. It’s about playing smart, tough football, play in, play out, day in, day out, week in, week out. Win or lose.
These are the qualities that the teams that are tough, resourceful and rated as the top contenders year in and year out possess. They are also the qualities that have been mostly lacking in Green and White from coaching staff to coaching staff.
Ryan’s Spring approach raised the hope that THIS might be the year that tough, mature football might be played on OUR side of the ball for once. The Miami game and its aftermath gave many of us pause that, perhaps, we were too quick to cede that mantle of savior to Ryan.
He’s said what we’ve needed to hear. Now we need to see the team that we’ve needed to see.
