Link: DeVito and the D-line

Understandably, when Kris Jenkins went down, Jets fans panicked almost immediately. How would a Jets defensive line that struggled so mightily with The Fat Man on the sideline last season handle having him on the bench for the entire season in ‘09? Thankfully, the development of young players Sione Pouha and Mike DeVito has helped to ease the Jets’ burden — at least through one game.

“Actually, it flowed very well. Everybody felt well, nobody was really tired, we were rotating well,” DeVito said. “We realize without Kris in there, we need to make sure everybody knows what’s going on, everybody’s firing each other up. It was a lot of fun. It was good to get a good start to it.”

“It’s time for everybody to step up,” DeVito said. “Everybody here gets paid. You wouldn’t be here if you couldn’t do it. We realize we lost Jenkins and he’s a playmaker. Now it’s on us to make the plays.”

The revamped d-line will get it’s biggest test thus far today, for sure. The Dolphins and their #2 rushing attack are threatening to make life miserable for the Jets once again — and the last time Big Jenx was in the lineup. What do you guys think? Can DeVito and company handle the Fins’ rush attack, Wildcat and all?

  1. I like DeVito. He has a high motor and tons of upside. He’ll grow into a starter now that he is playing regularly, sooner rather than later.

  2. i want to know why the line take plays off when Jenks in, shouldnt they pad there stats.

  3. the played the Raiders last week…i’ll get excited if they can do it against a real team…
