PSA: Getaway Thursday

Just like the Jets are getting a break, with the way things went this past weekend, and this being the bye week, we’re going to use Thursday as a NON-JETS day on the blog and we’re looking to you for what you want us to write about. Other sports, movies, food, guy stuff, whatever … just let us know what you want us to talk about and we’ll give you a mini-vacation from the Jets season.

Let us know in the comments what you’d like to hear about and we’ll do our best take those suggestions and run with it.

  1. Want me to talk about Modern Warfare 2 and how awesome it is?

  2. Uhhh did Modern Warfare 2 come out already?
I’ve been playing Uncharted 2 and that game is a friggin blast.

  3. I know it is still football, but I would love to see an article about some of the college prospects coming out this year.

  4. MW2 comes out Tuesday, but I’ve been playing it since Sunday night. I doubt I should post about it though, since it’s likely going to end in a gamertag/console ban for me on my 360.

Uncharted 2 is an awesome game, though. I got it a few weeks back and beat it over the course of a few days. I’m going to go back and play it again on harder difficulties. I’m looking into getting a new sound system, so I want to experience the game in all it’s surround sound glory.

  5. I hear Hulk Hogan came out of retirement!

  6. I would be interested in a list of “Craziest Jets Fan” experiences…

  7. ANgel, I’m getting MW2 so we’ll need to synch up on that. I’d love it if you wrote about it, but don’t want to jeopardize anything for ya either. :)

  8. Angel – Why not start a Jetsblog Online Madden Franchise?

  9. Hrmmm so I guess none of you guys are getting MW2 for the PS3?

  10. How about the manliest of non football sports: MMA? I’m still bristling about machidas bs decision victory over shogun. Also, in re to harris22s suggestion: I met herm edwards in a target here in CT. I also have a picture of herm n I for those that say picture or bs.

  11. 1) Dwight Lowery – progress this season? Is he our future at “other corner”?
    2) Kerry Rhodes – the other invisible man!? Where did this guy go on the field…we know he knows where the micophones are!!
    3) Rex – does he know what “time outs” are for?

  12. How about rugby union because it’s awesome? The US team has some games against Uruguay coming up this month, and there’s loads of international matches in the coming weeks.

  13. boner….totally agree on the machida BS win…

    I also like Harris52ChampionshipDefense idea… which I have a ton of….lol

The easiest to remember was my dad somehow got me and my borther to me Erik Mcmillian thru a friend when we were kids and my younger bother called him James Hasty. What a retard he was….

  14. Isn’t there a World Series going on or something?

  15. MW2 comes out on 11/10 should be fun.

    Uncharted 2 is GotY

If anyone wantes to party up for MW2.
    Live: EpidemikE
    PSN: EpidemikE

  16. Is monogamy realistic?

Read an interesting article about that recently and how different cultures view cheating, straying, mistresses..etc..

  17. Zombieland?

  18. jetobsessed28

    monogomy?? never heard of it….lol

  19. How bout reliving underappreciated Jets of the past…

    such as: Adrian Murrell…. lol
    or Siupeli Malamala

  20. Totally underappreciated Jets in the last 15-20 years

    Brad Baxter
    Murrell
    Brian and Marvin Washington
    Richie Anderson
    Chris Burkett

To a lesser extent Jeff Lageman

  21. How about upcoming autographs?

  22. Sorry guys, but I dont want to take a day off, lets continue to talk about the Jets.

If everyone wants to switch up the topics maybe we could get a list of the free agent class for this offseason and see where the Jets can look to improve.

  23. Jesus…

We all know what we need …. DL and OL depth. The rest we have we just have to develop it.

  24. How about hottest woman covering sports?

I nominate Michelle Beadle of SportsNation. It’s a goofy show, but I watch it now and then just to watch MB.

  25. Drew,

Come on now, Its not that simple. The Jets have older players who they may have to make decisions on. Ellis, Woody and Faneca are getting old and expensive. We still need corner help and the pass rush needs improving. The Jets still need to figure out what to do with Thomas Jones, and if they dont keep him then they need to add a RB. As usual we dont have a surplus of draft picks so some of this will have to be done via free agency. But if youre so confident we just need a little depth then, well…

  26. Ben Nevis,

    Clearly Erin Andrews

  27. Jesus-

Okay, but where is said Erin Andrews to be found?

  28. Hiding from the perverts who are all stalking her because of how hot she is

  29. No Michelle Tafoya fans (just kidding).

  30. No, Jesus, I mean where can you see Erin Andrews on TV?

Sorry, but I’ve never heard of her.

  31. What I like about Michelle Beadle is that she’s not only hot, she’s also a girl you could hang out with.

She also seems to know something about sports, and to be passionate about certain teams (like the Longhorns).

But the serious hot factor makes the idea of hanging out with her all the more appealing.

  32. Shawn,

I wanted to start a TJB Madden Franchise, and actually took the first steps for it earlier this summer. But the response was overwhelming and then I got really busy.

I’d still like to do one of those, but could only do it with help. Likely someone to run the 360 franchise while I worked on the PS3 side. I have it for both consoles, but I can’t reasonably do both with my schedule.

  33. Does anyone know what Bonnie Bernstein looks like? Ive never seen her but I listen to her on the Michael Kay show on 1050 espn and she is knowledgable.

    Ben Nevis,

I’m shocked you have never heard of Erin Andrews, she mostly covers college football. Google her, shes grogeous, tall, blonde. enjoy.

  34. JesusRevis-

Okay, will do, thanks for the heads-up.

  35. What about suzie kolber? Killer bod on that one *snicker. Shouldn’t she be a gym teacher somewhere?

  36. How about a Jane McManus update? Is she doing anything Jets-related? How about her roller derby career? Was she in “Whip It?” LOL.

    Jane, we miss you.

  37. An illustrated how-to piece on checking your friend for breast cancer?

  38. I believe at this point our weakness is still at corner opposite Revis and at the line positions. I also believe that Kerry Rhodes is a bust, but we are paying him too much now. I would say that our best plan would be to trade down out of the first round next draft and pick up a 2nd and 3rd. Then draft DL OL and CB with our 2 2nds and 1 3rd. I think we may be able to find another cheap veteran to help out along the line at DE in free agency as well.

  39. What about suzie kolber? She’s got a killer bod…*snicker. Shouldn’t she be a gym teacher somewhere?

  40. Carrie Milbank. She works for the NHL, and is a former captain of the Houston Texans cheerleading squad. I don’t think she necessarily knows a blue line from a yard line, but I don’t care!

  41. Bonnie Bernstein is cute.. I have to say, Hannah Storm looks real good these days (she’s on Sportscenter).. Sage Steele does it for me too..

Someone mentioned Michelle Beadle.. love her, she looks good, and i love her personality too.. I’d love to marry someone like her.. my god…
    Erin Andrews too..

  42. I will throw out a Collen Domingez from ESPN…she rivals Erin Andrews and is the cougar of the group… Very hot!!

  43. Bonnie Bernstien is not that hot but probably knows more sports than any other broad out there..

I cant believe there is a sports fan alive who has not see Erin Andrews

  44. jesus…

It all depends on if the we are uncapped or not. The overall team is very good talent wise but we all know we are so thin at OL/DL.

I think Lowery is the answer opposite Revis in the future. Like I said i would go OL/Dl best available passrusher available

  45. A big fantasy football day

  46. Colleen Domingez is very hot, good call.

  47. Drew.. just saw what you wrote earlier on underappreciated Jets…

Brad Baxter remains a favorite of mine.. Best Fullback ever.. well, Richie Anderson was pretty good too..

    good picks..

  48. and yes, domingez is a total cougar.. she can scratch me up any day! lol

  49. not sure if someone suggested this yet – but it would be cool if you guys plugged some of the players’ charity events. i know a few are having them this week in and around NYC

  50. JesusRevis-

Your pick, Erin Andrews, appears on the list at #1.

My pick, Michelle Beadle, makes the list as well.

  51. Am I the only one that thinks Mo Lewis was under appreciated?

  52. Amen to Mo Lewis..

  53. Okay so I have to admit that I pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2, but haven’t been paying attention to the actual game.

How is it going to be different from the first one? Not that the first one really needed a whole lot to be changed, but is it just going to be the same game with different levels? (Obviously new characters and story/campaign for singleplayer, but the multiplayer is what will be the beef of the game.)

  54. It’s more Modern Warfare 1.5 to be honest. But like you implied, it’s not a bad thing. The first game was awesome, and this one piles on a little bit more of it.

There are a lot of graphics enhancements. A lot of cool stuff that just catches you by surprise. I’m talking about scaling an icy mountain with two hooks in your hand, breaching doors with slow-motion kills, and a level that starts underwater.

There’s a boatload of new weapons.

The multiplayer maps I played were a lot bigger with some really nice spaces and vantage points. I never played the same map twice.

Story mode is as phenomenal as the first MW. Can’t say enough about the controversial level with the russian terrorists cleaning out an airport of civilians.

Also, my 360 console has been banned. So unless I decide to buy a new one, or jack my little brother’s, my days on Live are numbered.

  55. New Super Mario Brothers comes out soon.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpcJNEWKzCY

    And go Yankees

  56. Underappreciated Jets?

First and foremost, Freeman McNeil: the man was an artist, and he’s forgotten when great running backs are discussed.
Wesley Walker: same thing — never mentioned when receivers are discussed.
One more, an ancient name: Sherman Plunkett, great offensive guard on the Super Bowl team.
And, finally, although I think he’s in the Hall of Fame, the great, unsurpassed Don Maynard. Never mentioned these days by the sports idiots on radio/TV.

  57. michelle beedle used to do the net games on yes she would def get the old meat and potatoes

  58. Jimbo-

When I was a kid, I remember seeing the Jets at the Polo Grounds and going on the field after the game (you could do that then) to pat Sherman Plunkett on the back. The man was HUGE, but you’re right: I haven’t heard his name in years. Also saw Don Maynard play at Shea back in the old AFL days, and, yes, he was amazing.

  59. I think the Jets will go 7-1 the rest of the way… We’ve been in every game, and it’s bound come together after the bye.

I think we will win the AFC EAST with an 11-5 record, New England will finish 10-6, Miami will finish 9-7.

It’s not uncommon for a team to get on a good run… I think the Jets are about to embark on one. Coach Ryan mentioned something telling, about the year that the Raiders made the playoffs after starting off 4-4. You see every season some team was 2-4 or 2-5 at one point of the season and turned it on… Why can’t that be the Jets.

This is the playoff picture as of today…
    IND 7-0, DEN 6-1, CIN 5-2, PIT 5-2, NE 5-2, HOU 5-3, BAL 5-3, SD 4-3, NYJ 4-4 & MIA 3-4.

I predict the final standings will be:

    1. AFC NORTH
PIT (13-3) w/ wins against DEN, CIN, KC, BAL, OAK, CLE, BAL and MIA, w/ a lose against GB

    2. AFC SOUTH
IND (13-3) w/ wins against HOU, NE, BAL, DEN, BUF and JAX w/ loses against HOU, TEN, NYJ

    3. AFC EAST
NYJ (11-5) w/ wins against JAX, NE, CAR, BUF, TB, IND and CIN w/ lose against ATL

    4. AFC WEST
SD (11-5) w/ wins against DEN, KC, CLE, DAL, CIN, TEN, WAS and loses against NYG and PHI

    5. WILDCARD #1
NE (10-6) w/ wins against MIA, CAR, BUF, JAX, HOU w/ loses against IND, NYJ, NO and MIA.

    6. WILDCARD # 2
DEN (10-6) w/ wins against WAS, KC, OAK and KC and loses against PIT, SD, NYG, IND and PHI

    Outside looking in:

    BAL 9-7
    MIA 9-7
    HOU 7-9
    CIN 8-8
