Players Back at the Fort

After six days away from football, players are back to the facility to regroup for the second half. On the subject last week Rex Ryan said that things would begin today for the team in their game against Jacksonville.

“We’ll work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday right up through the game. They will not be getting Tuesday off. It’s best that they get away and they go home (or) they go wherever they want. Get away from football.”

While the players were away, most coaches stayed a few extra days before heading out for a short respite of their own. Mangini was always excellent after the bye week, winning three of three games in his three years. Part of it was because Mangini didn’t give, or take, as much time off as it seems Ryan does for his coaches or players.

Look this weekend for a few things to get a sense of how well Ryan is managing the bye. First, how well their game-plan works on Jacksonville, a team the Jets have struggled with in recent years. Second, see if there are penalties or other mental mistakes that indicate a level of rust that the time away might have caused.

  1. I really hope the Jets can handle Jax. The past 2 home games have really been hard on us.

  2. my guess is the trick with 5 days of practice as opposed to the normal 3, will be not peaking too early and leaving your game on the practice field.

  3. Look for the Jets to have fresh legs coming out of the bye. The coaches spent a few extra days at the facility so I expect them to have a great game plan. I think they control this one from beginning to end.

  4. there going to smash jacksonville and just fly to the football. at least there no jimmy smith this time to catch it on the outside in ot…god that hurt

  5. If they can’t beat Jacksonville coming out of this bye, we could be looking at a 6 -10 season. I’m banking on the Jets winning out at home, and splitting on the road. Jax represents the easiest home game left.
