Some of the defense talks about how to step up, attitude, playing against MJD, and whether or not sacks come in bunches …

CB Darrelle Revis, 11.12

On what the team has to do on defense…

We have to strip the ball and guys have to be able to pick it up and take it the distance. We have to get interceptions, set up walls on defense like we practice and take it the distance too. We have the players here, we have the talent here, I just think we have to focus on scoring touchdowns on defense.

On if the defense is aware of their stats and where they rank in the NFL…

The coaches are saying we’re doing well, but we’re 4-4. It’s a give and take there. We might be doing this, we might be doing that, but we have to get some wins. We can’t keep on losing. That is what we are focusing on coming off the bye week, trying to make more plays to set us up for wins.

On Dwight Lowery…

(Dwight) Lowery has always been good. We made a couple of moves in the offseason and brought Lito (Sheppard) in. I think Dwight Lowery can start on any NFL team. He’s a playmaker and we know that. The coaches know it. He has experience and this is only his second year. He’s a talent for us.

CB Lito Sheppard, 11.12

On how he feels about returning to the field…

I’m feeling good. I’m anxious and can’t wait to get back out there and hopefully add a great asset to this secondary. These guys have been playing great up until this point. Hopefully, I can come back and continue to add on to that.

On what he notices about the attitude of the team…

We’ve been playing solid ball pretty much the whole year. It has been one or two things in different games that causes us to lose here or there. We are just trying to clean it up as a whole. We can’t be solid in one phase of the game and slacking in the other. I think we are just trying to take that team approach and get everyone on the same page and playing their best.

On if the bye week helped…

It came at a great time. It gave me an extra week or so to get back healthy. I’m looking forward to it.

On how much he will play against Jacksonville…

I haven’t addressed that yet. All I know is that I will be up and ready to play. However the coaches decide to work that in, we’re going to go with it. I’m just looking forward to getting back and making sure I’m back. We’ll go from there.

LB Calvin Pace, 11.12

On the challenge of Maurice Jones-Drew…

I think they have more than one person. He is obviously the focal point of the offense, but they have a guy in Torry Holt who has done it for a long time. He is a little bit older, but he still has the tools. David Garrard can extend a lot of plays with his ability to move around the pocket and get out of the pocket. Obviously, our focal point is to stop the run, but guys have to be on point rushing the quarterback because if you give the guy a lane he can get out of the pocket. A big point of emphasis is tackling. If you can get a guy down, get him down. Get guys to the ball. It’s simple, but it’s not that simple. It’s going to be tough.

On if the six sacks against Miami was a sign…

I think it is a sign of our defense working how it is supposed to work. If we can get people to stop the run you can make them have to do things that they’re not comfortable doing. The first time we played Miami, they had a choice of what they wanted to do. I think everything that we practiced and everything that we talked about, the matchups worked out in our favor, as far as down and distance. It’s the same for us this week. If we stop the run we have a chance.
