Thanks for the pic, I made it my wallpaper. That photo sums up the ineptitude of the game yesterday.
Kerry Rhodes is a joke! He Stinks!!!
I couldn’t agree more. Kerry Rhodes used to be great and a top 10 ten safety now he can’t even cover a TE who has like 10 career catches. in the 4th quarter all we needed was a stop AGAIN and our “dominant” defense blows it again. It seems like every game they can’t make the big stop when we need it. I’m tired of Rex Ryan believing in a defense which is slightly above average. And now the Pats for what could be left of the season. Its not much what the Pats can crush the small hope the Jets have left. Can’t wait for that
KERRY RHODES IS A BUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NEEDS TO FOCUS ON HIS PLAY ON THE FIELD AND NOT HOW HE LOOKS OFF OF IT
THEY SHOULD HAVE CUT HIM INSTEAD OF AMAHD CARROL!
Kerry Rhodes lost this game for the jets! How are you not paying attention on this most important drive of the game. Not to mention he said he could not hear the call for him to cover. The fans were not even loud! There was this uncomfortable silence that fell over the stadium. Hear we go again!!

Guys, Rhodes didn’t lose the game for the Jets. One play doesn’t make a win or a loss. He had a big play that contributed to it on the last drive, but he also saved some big gains with 2 of his tackles and had an extremely athletic pass breakup. Overall he had a weak game, but you guys are looking for a scapegoat when there isn’t one, the entire unit is to blame.
Brendan, Rhodes did lose the game with that missed assignment. If he covered the TE there wouldnt have been a huge game and the D could have kept it to a FG.
All year Rhodes has been yapping and yapping. In the beginning of the reason he compared to himself to Ed Reed. Before the home game against the Dolphins, he started flapping his jaw to Joey Porter which was just stupid.
The Ted Ginn deep TD play was also his fault for not adjusting. Now Im not saying he is the sole reason for the Jets record but he has been terrible this season and has been very mistake prone. Sanchez has been too but he is a rookie, not a veteran like Rhodes is supposed to be. The late throw to Braylon for the 2pt conversion also put them in the situation that they were in but Rhodes SHOULD have made that play on the TE. Leonhard was screaming at him to adjust.
Jets are screwed next week, theres no chance the Patriots are gonna let them walk into their house and get win after the misscalled 4th & 2 play from last nights game.
Start looking forward to next season everyone because the Jets are D-O-N-E!
Don’t be so sure about the Jets losing next week. The Pats will be very demoralized from their loss and will lay an egg next week.
Hey Brendan, any young athletic safety would have made those same plays and more. I think hes lost his love for the game and is more worried about his celebrity. I say try and trade him for a draft pick hopefully a second rounder. Listen i loved Kerry Rhodes when he was a playmaker for the Jets but this city has eaten him up and now he needs to go!!! I say we draft cb Donavan Warren to play across revis then draft a Tackle such a Ciron Black from LSU, and hopefully we will be drafting a safety to replace Rhodes Eric Berry will go to high maybe chad Jones from lsu if he comes out or deunta williams from unc and use free agency to add d-line depth
What I find funniest of all about the Rhodes critics is that they go by what CBS shows them. In case people don’t notice it, but CBS shows the QB in the pocket on pass plays, not the coverage. If you want to get a real read on the defense you need to watch the endzone angle. You’ll see how Rhodes roams, closing off passing routes all game and taking pursuit angles to the ball carrier. Any young, athletic safety can’t make all the plays he makes, because at 6′3″ his range is almost second to none. There’s only a handful of safeties in the league that out-jump Marcedes Lewis and knock the ball away from him.
I don’t want people to think I’m blindly defending the guy and saying he is flawless. He clearly has been struggling, but what I take issue with is how everyone is saying he’s horrible and is the reason we lose games.
Brendan
We need to be honest. What has kerry rhodes done for us lately, except getting burned on a few plays. He never shows up when needed. We needed him on that last play. He was out of position.
My point is that you can go through every single player on that defense, and play this game. Jim Leonhard missed a tackle on the first TD. Sheppard missed one on the Sims-Walker TD. David Harris couldn’t get off his block and opened up a lane for Garrard to run through, when he knew Rhodes was blitzing and he wouldn’t have safety help.
Point being: everyone is to blame, not just Rhodes. Jets fans constantly looking for a scapegoat and the act is getting old.
Brendan i understand you dont wanna come to grips with the fact kerry rhodes isn’t the player he once was, he didnt only get beat on the mercedes lewis play but he failed to realize that if mercedes lewis is in the slot he is going deep, jim leonhard knew but kerry had no clue. his minds just not in the game and i hope he does come around but truthfully hes done nothing this whole season besides allow running backs to ride his coattail for a couple extra yards.
and i think jets fans are using him as a scapegoat because of all the upside he had shown just a couple years ago instead of progressing into an all pro safety he has regressed to an average run of the mill safety. This is typical of the mets and the jets, he has what some would call doc gooden syndrome minus all the cocaine use. I believe he would flourish in another city but the new york nightlife consumes this pretty buy. The thing that bothers me the most is how cocky he still is and hes done nothing he pumps his fist with every breakup like weve just clinched the division and when he screws up he just shakes his head as if to say “it’s not my fault” as when he blaimed revis for the ginn touchdown on twitter. c’mon man this guy is a punck and i believe bad for the team
Lewis wasn’t lined up in the slot. He was a down in a 3 point stance. And I’m not saying Rhodes has performed exceptionally. I’m saying this preconceived notion that everything is Rhodes’ fault, and then neglecting to acknowledge some of our other defenders had equally huge mistakes is irresponsible. People take a vendetta against the guy because he is outspoken, and I understand that to a point. But to say this loss is Rhodes’ fault? C’monnnnn man (Cris Carter voice).
Oo im not saying he is theirs a long list of people at fault especially this coaching staff, but he is the most DISSAPOINTING player onthis jets d. and lewis was in the slot check the highlights
Oh, you won’t hear an argument here that he is disappointing. It’s just been a day long “IT’S RHODES’ LOSS” campaign that has gotten to me. And Lewis was most certainly in tight. Go to the game highlights on the main page, pause the video at 3:47. There are clearly 3 helmets on the near side of the line to the left of the center. And you can also see where Rhodes was positioned (he was outside the TE, thinking he had Leonhard helping in the deep 1/3), pushing Lewis towards the inside.
i said coming in 9-7 rookie qb, rookie head coach. things dont just drop in your lap. a little less yap and a few more plays (Rhodes) is needed. unfortunate injuries for sure, but machines overcome this. we are not a machine and thats to be expected. learn from the mistakes. dont throw ryan under the bus just yet. he has some personnel decisions to make, including his asst coaches. a work in progress. they playing for their jobs.
I don’t think it was just Rhodes who cost the game. Don’t forget the first half when Jax put up 21 points. That was an issue too. As far as the game against the Pats. I sure do hope the Jets win. It will put them back in the mix onlly one game out. However it will not be easy. Pats will be out gunning after last nights loss and want to get back at the Jets for week2. The Jets need to fix what ever is the problem is with them and get ready and play a crisp game on Sunday. GO JETS!
I hate bandwagoners, how come no one questioned his poor work ethic from the start? He is all mouth no production. He only shows up on payday to get money for nothing.
That being said,
Draft Eric Berry
Off subject but does anyone else besides myself think that the Jets should cut their losses with Gholston and convert him back to his natural position, DE?
What would be the harm in doing that?
