Ryan Solicits Advice From Peers
Rex Ryan has made no secret that he’s looking for answers, and he’s willing to go to some interesting places to get them … not limited to some of his competition.
… in the wake of his team’s disastrous 24-22 loss to the Jaguars, [Ryan] plans on reaching out for advice to more than a few people outside the organization, including his father, Buddy Ryan, Brian Billick, Jack Del Rio, Marvin Lewis . . . and former Jets and Giants coach Bill Parcells.
“It’s not like Bill Belichick’s gonna talk to me,” Ryan said. “Parcells may. I may put a call out to him. I know a lot of guys in this business. . . . I’m searching right now.”
Would the Dolphins’ czar field a call from a division foe?
“I don’t know,” Ryan said. “But there’s no doubt, I’ll put a call in to him.”
“I think Bill would be willing to help Rex, or guide Rex,” Carson said. “Bill’s been there, he’s done that. He’s coached that team, he knows what the organization is about, he knows what New York is about.”
Parcells, following his 3-12-1 rookie season with the Giants in 1983, sought out advice from Al Davis, Tom Landry, Chuck Knox and Chuck Noll.
“I don’t think I was being myself,” he said. “I was too wrapped up acting like I thought a head coach was supposed to act and not really being a good leader. Hey, just be Bill Parcells. It’s not for everybody, but that’s the way it goes.”
His advice for Ryan?
“Just to be himself,” Parcells said.
I have to ask, was this something that he did before the season started too? Or is this the first time he’s tried this? I respect that Ryan is willing to ask for help, and as the article notes, Parcells reached out to guys like Landry that were in his division at the time. But the current state of the NFL is a long way from the one of the early 80s.
Still, I’d be wary of going down the road of asking someone associated with a divisional rival for help, but I guess there’s a pretty small fraternity of NFL coaches, and what’s a vastly smaller group, ones that have been successful. That said, maybe guys like Bill Cowher who is out of the game, or Tom Coughlin who’s in the NFC and rarely play meaningful games against the Jets might be a wiser play.
I’ll give Rex some advice for free (and it’s probably worth what he paid for it) based on what I have observed of him from a distance …
First, understand what the similar characteristics of successful coaches are. Second, do what it takes to know one’s own strengths and limitations and put people in place to bolster those deficiencies. Third, once people are put them in place to assist, actually listen to their advice.

another non-issue being blown out of the water..
In any business, if things are not going well, you seek advice from your industry peers that you trust and know best..
let’s move on…
I would certainly hope that Rex would reach out to guys like that. All of those guys have had success, and also had their hardships. That’s a great grouping of coaches to advise him how to ride out the rough patches.
I could see if Rex reached out to Belichick …
“Well, the first thing you need to do is shake it up a bit … starting this week, bench Sanchez, trade Harris and then cut Revis. Send a clear message! Then you might want to cut the sleeves off your pullover. ..”
I’m sure in between chomps of chicken parm and swigs of extra-heavy marinara sauce Mike Francesca will criticize Ryan for this, but whatever. If Ryan thinks this will help him and his team, go for it big boy!
Couldn’t hurt. Still, what I want to see is if Ryan can learn from his own mistakes. I believe Sanchez can and will after his up and down 1st half.
Just another example of NY media making something out of nothing. This is where Rex’s honesty is going to kill him. The media in this area is a mess and pined for a guy lkike Ryan and now is trying to sink him in year 1.
If they were smart they would get behind this guy and hope he is the coach for years. This guy is a media’s wet dream.
Rex realizes that he is a rookie and Might not know eeverything there is to be a “great” HC yet. This is one one of the things we killed mangini for. Thinking he knew everything when he clearly didnt. Do you thinkMangini was calling searching under every rock for answers?
I actually disagree Bassett on your thoughts that this is different than the 80’s. I think there was more hatred and rivalry back in those days than now. I mean Parcells reaching out to the Cowboys and Landry? You dont get any more hated than that.
Apologies for the outburst.
Too much Shock-n-Awe, not enough Ground-n-Pound. I think I’m passed the Shock, Denial, Anger phases of Grief and ready to shake hands with a long sustained dance with depression, known as Same Ol’ Jets.
Jets self-inflicted losses are killing me. The first Miami game was attempted suicide, a razor’s glide across the wrist – cry for help. While the second Miami game was committed suicide razor glide right down the length of the arm (and artery) with the intention to do harm tear out the very hear of me.
And, all the Headlines read, “This One’s On Me.” Newsflash, Rex! There all on you – Jacka$$!
You’re the God damned coach! The buck stops here. Your name’s on the door; and we’ve dropped four in the fourth. It hurts and I want you to own it… shove right up your a$$!!!
We should be, could be 9-1, poised for a play off run. We’re not. Second year of looking up at Joey Porter’s big fat a$$. What’s worse, is we’ll probably win out, now that there’s nothing to play for… just to screw with the minds of us sorry Jets fans, thinking what could of, should of been – and can’t be any longer.
‘Cause you you screwed it all up again – idiot!
So, F— you, F—in’ F—ers… F—in’ Jets! F— you for F—in’ Me!
Jets! F— you! And, the Mets!
F— you!
Dino
PS: I’m glad I’m not angry anymore and we can let the healing begin. :)
Plus lets not forget that Parcells openly said he liked Ryan but hired Saprano instead as he worked with him in Dallas.
Parcells said Ryan reminded him of himself. I love the fact that Rex is not too proud or confident to play the Mangini/Belichick role and think that all of the answers on in their own head
+1 Drew…great post
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/17/report-bills-fire-dick-jauron/ looks like the bills are done with dick
AKA Drew:
Spin all his BS an way you guys want to. He is quickly (in the first 9 games nonetheless) running out of things to say and do.
What is next, in the next meeting, is he pulling his pants down and crap on the foor?
Rex will go down in football history right next toDick Vermiel. Two crying pansies !!
Brendan:
What a loser !!! Reaching out to the enemy for help. Get a grei on reality guys, please!!!!!
Correction: Get a grip!!!
Hank,
Now who is just out to argue? You have heard of that whole “coaching fraternity” thing, right? You are aware that in the history of sports, believe it or not, coaches have reached out to one another for help and guidance. No one man had/has all the answers. You are truly delusional and out to hate anything Rex-related if this is how you really feel. For your sake I hope you’re just being a nuisance and don’t actually believe what you’re saying.
Frank- yeah it’s official now about Jauron. I’m surprised he got fired before Zorn. Now we just have to worry about Cowher/Shanahan/another HOF coach getting hired in the division.
Wow Dean why don’t you tell us how you really feel…relax man.
I have no problem with Rex calling for help. If anyone can help Rex move forward and be a better coach. Then I am cool with that. Atleast Rex is willing to learn.
Hank,
Is Rex is the first guy to ask his rivals for help? I’m fairly certain he’s not. He is merely doing what everyone in the “coaching fraternity” (you’re an old guy you’ve heard of that term, right?) has done before him: ask for help. No one man has all the answers. It’s is unbelievable how completely blinded you are by your Anti-Rex sentiment. And how can you disagree with Drew that Bill Parcells talking with the Cowboys is not worse than Rex talking to his Dad, his ex-head coach, and two guys who were his DC’s in Baltimore? And you tell me to get a grip?
Didn’t think the first one was going to post my computer froze, they say the same thing anyway.
hank, i mean no disrespect to you.. but i could not disagree with you more.
Again, not so much reaching ‘out to the enemy’ as it is reaching out to your peers in the industry..
not a big deal.. and if Rex is half the coach that Vermeil is, we’re in great shape.. who cares about the “cry”.. we all cry.. when you’re passionate and frustrated, you make enpassioned pleas.. and if a tear or 2 drops.. not a bad thing..
shows us all, and more importanly his players, that he cares and believes in them..
JetObsessed28:
Reaching out to your peers? Not even in schoolyard basketball.
I guess you never heard of Industrial Piracy, have you?
Also, I’ll give you two guesses what Vermiel is remembered for, his SB rings? I don’t think so !!!!
hank
What am I spinning exactly? Its how I feel about my team and my head coach.
To mock D Vermiel is also low rent. The guy was a respected and SB winning coach.
I dont think what Rex did was a ploy or a stunt for the players or media. I think the guy is so fired up and wants to win badly he gets emotional. Where is this a problem?
Give me an emotional, advice searching, cocky fired up coach anyday of the week. I know one thing the players will always play hard for a guy who cares about winning and the team as much as Ryan does.
I dont care what the result is on Sunday I believe this guy is the right coach for my team. I am not afraid of the Patriots and the (oh they are going to be angry nonsense) Were effing angry and we should knock a couple of them out to prove on Sunday….Win or lose…They will know the Jets came to play on Sunday…..
Brendan:
You and your friends can spin this garbage any way you want and I know you will.
But what you guys suggest is that its oK for you to ask your enemies, in the middle of the war nontheless, for info on how to beat them,
Really, GET A GRI PON REALITY !!!!
Yes Hank. I’m sure all of us think Rex is calling up his “rivals” to ask them “hey, Marvin, we play in week 16, any pointers on how to score on you?” or “Hey Bill, you guys beat us twice this year, but we play again twice next year, so how would you stop the wildcat?”
OR
Is he asking things like “Bill, this NY media is all over me week after week. I don’t want to change the way I am, nor do I think I should. My players are playing hard, we’re just having trouble closing out games, and advice?” or “Hey, Jack, your boys played a helluva game on Sunday. You’ve been on the hotseat before, how’d you deal with that without letting it get to you?”
Do you really think he’s asking “X’s and O’s” style questions?
Oh he believes it alright Brendan. Shocking Hank knocks the move. Its getting old…and dumb
If anything it shows that Rex is actually a HUMBLE guy. If anything, its show he RESPECTS the opposition.
If anything, this move completely CONTRADICTS what all the Rex haters say about him.
I cant stand the things that come out of Hanks mouth, or should I say keyboard, pure stupidity.
Clearly, i’m still too new to this site… you guys have caught on to this guy’s BS…
I’m learning…lol
I think Rex Ryan should stop flapping his mouth. Gather whatever advice he needs and get his team ready to win. At the end of the season, win or lose, the Jets need to fly down to Naples and shut Hank the hell up.
I thought Hank got canceled anyway. It was as worthless a sitcom as it was a blog poster. Why is it still on here?
haha Shamik, I wish I thought of that one.
i really dont think rex is experienced enough to manipulate the media that way. if anything, he’s guilty of sharing too much compared to his peers.
remember, he’s wouldnt be asking about x’s & o’s. he’d be asking about how to reach guys, how to set a tone for the whole team not just a unit.
the 2 things i got from watching parcells coach here (the flrst i love so i agreed with belichek’s move sunday) when you have a team down, end it. go for the throat. dont mess around.
two, when the team is upbeat and winning hammer them. when the team is struggling back off and go lite. rex just did that and it didnt work. he trusted them and they didnt respond likewise.
AKA/Brendan/Shamik et al:
Think I was kidding about associating Rex’s crying with Dick Vermiel ,do you?
Take a look at this press clipping:
NBC Sports PTF
“Maybe Rex Ryan is actually Dick Vermeil’s son, after all.”
Do you know when this was?
Sept. 14, 2009
Seriously, calling his peers is good business. He should be lauded for not being too proud to humble himself. Hell, I wouldn’t be against the jets bringing someone in to oversee the tactical piece like Parcells does in Miami. Why not? Also he is a rookie with a ton to learn. I admit the losses have been painful and frustrating but I can relax a little when i remember the facts. 1) Rookie coach, 2) Rookie Qb 3) New defensive scheme and 4) Schottenheimer sucks. I for one am sick of the NYJ coaching carousel. They keep coaches for 2 years at a time and try someone new. We need consistency. I’m all for Ryan for the long haul, this is not the same old Jets, this is a transition from the same ol’ Jets. I think the media and fan base in this area is the worst part of it all. The media just looks for negative BS to point out at any chance. Just look at the way they describe the pressers and such. Watch for yourself and draw your own conclusions. I’m happy to have Rex leading our team and excited about the foundation of talent on it.
If Parcells doesnt plan on staying in Miami, how bout coming back to NY to hold the same position? I believe his title is Head of Football Operations? I’d be on board with that, and im sure everyone else would as well, EVEN HANK!!!!!!!!
Brendan:
You really want Rex to ask for help within this own division, from his enemies?
Other than growing a PAIR, if Rex needs help with the NY media, poor abused baby, he should call the absolutely PERFECT PERSON.
Who should know more about that the person who has had EVERY SINGLE MEDIA SCRIBE (and otherwise) WRITE ABOUT HIM, than…………………MANGINI!!!!!
Hank
I saw what you posted in the other topic. If you are gonna call me out, say my name COWARD.
Say whatever you want, I dont have to prove anything to you. I dont have to “CLAIM” anything, Ive gotten paid to coach football before. I’ve had good people teach me about the game, and nothing you can say or do will ever make me waver from the principles and lessons Ive learned from them. My credentials are what they are. Ive always offered to email media guides or pressers at any time to anyone who doubted me. Im not on here to preach the word of “Eddie D-Football Expert”. The only time I use the “experience” crutch is when I hear you make ridiculous statements about things that happen on the practice field or locker room; comments about how defenses or offenses are run, that I know are completely merit-less. I am only on here cause I love the Jets and I WANT to see them succeed.
It doesnt take much to predict the Jets will ultimately fail, all the time. Unless they win the Super Bowl, you basically cant be wrong.
So awesome, you pick your fav team to lose or collapse, then you come on and tell everyone that you knew it all along. But when they were 3-0, no one heard a peep outta ya. Thats why you and your nutjob son get ridiculed. Because you are a bunch of miserable wanna be athletes that could never get it done on the field, so you take it out on these guys. Like others have said, everytime you get caught sticking your foot in your big mouth, you take your ball and go home.
It would be different if you were a stand-up guy and could admit you were wrong when called on it, but your not, and thats why people have no respect for you. Thats what you did with me, you ran and hid and you duck my comments after I wouldnt back down to your BS. Where I grew up its called be a B*TCH.
Dont worry I got my helmet right next to me, the old cabezza is just fine. But if I ever met you in the street, you would be the one that needed the helmet…
You tell em’ Eddie D!!!!!!!!
absolutely a joke.. this fat fool is reinventing himself on the fly everyweek …. one week he’s talkin like a mma fighter how he “aint affraid of anyone …and he aint changing for nothing.. and now he’s crying and seeking advice from the pats and dolphins …… bwhaaaaaaaa!!!
boo hoo hoo …. you better kiss the rings ..you clueless buffoon …
his ship is sinking he knows he’s in way over his head … jetsblew it again bringing in an unproven obviously overmatched… jackass…
AKA:
Do you really mean that…”I dont care what the result is on Sunday I believe this guy is the right coach for my team”
I hate to say it, but I stopped thinking that way when my son left little league.
calling your peers in the begininng and being humble a rookie head coach .. fine
but coming in talkin smack and about not kissing rings , making playoffs .. and smalk talking players….. then gettin your fat ass handed to ya .. and now you wanna cry and grovel for help ……? kiss the rings tubbs….
Jesus:
What you really, really need is VonSteinbrenner !!. This way he can BUY you everything you need to make the Jets a winner !!!
john M:
You are soooo freeking right, that I don’t give a flying F…….Ck if you are the enemy.
This kids have to see how wrong they are !!!
Hank is so blind with Jet Hate that he is sleeping with the enemy. You are in denial old man. No one needs ya on this site. You aint breakin down any social barriers with you “individualistic thought”
You’re resorting to siding with Patriot fans who have won 3 SB’s in recent history but still have to come on this site because they are complete tools …yea you john m
Hank
If you took 3 seconds to understand my point. I wanted Rex as the coach and no matter the results this year let alone Sunday I knew what I was getting into this year. A rookie HC bringing in a new D and grooming a new QB. Did I think we would lose 3 horrible games the way we did….NO!
The fact is I wanted this coach an its going to take a little more than some press conference nonsense and some “typical” rookie HC errors to make me change my mind…..especially after 9 games.
I wouldnt expect you to understand liek any other time I try and beat some common sense into your piss poor mind but hopefully this helps you a little
hank …
life long jets fan …. i go way back to shea and joe willie …. and i know what i’m seeing from my team , been here done that …. another lost 2 years no doubt ……. jets had balls not to go after a proven winner and leader with a proven system .. to turn this tortured franchise around …… and you cant change your future till you embrace your past .. and understand who you are ……. and we are the jets…
this guys reelin allready …. they’re in panic mode over there .. and it’s all because of his fat mouth ….. he brunt away his rookie leway , when he came in like vince lombardi …… now he’s a circus clown pulling tricks from a bag..
and hank … your right on the money …..
AKA:
All in the name of “exciting the base” Look, it is ok if all this was done with a “build for the future ” goal. But we all know Woody and his SUCK-up have built this team starting with Last Years $200 milliom plus Farve fiasco to Firing Mangini. So now you are saying, it is not SOJ but we’ll give our rookie HC, Our rookie QB time to grow?
Go back, take a look at everything said by everyone, and tell me is not hypocritical today !!!!
HEY JOHN M- Its easy to be on the money when you change your tune at the drop of a hat. Look at what your buddy Hank was saying about our “fat waste of life”head coach (pay close attention to the last line)
hank/naples, on January 20th, 2009 at 10:14 am Said:
The measure of a great coach is the degree by which he inspires his players to give the absolute best of themselves for the good of the team. This is simply called CHEMISTRY. It is the one ingredient the produces champions. Yes some talent must be there for teams to compete, but chemistry is the razors edge. I’ve always said that games are won on the field but, championships are won in the locker room….
Rex Ryan has this same attribute as documented by his players throughout his coaching tenure!!!
Here is another GEM from from Mr Stand Up guy himself

DRex is a great fit for our D. He was the only one that could’ ve replaced Mangini and the team not take a step backwards.
NOW ISNT THAT HYPOCRITICAL???
WHERE DO YOU GET OFF???
DOES EVERYONE’S ELSE COMMENTS HAVE SOME STANDARD TO OWN UP TO BUT YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT?
YOU ARE A BIGGER JOKE THAN YOU MAKE REX RYAN OUT TO BE
eddie g..
i dont follow hanks posts….. just saw what he wrote here ..
personally ..i never wanted rex … i figured him the cheap way out …. it bothered me he hadnt gotten a job before and especially when the ravens passed him by …..coming off mangini and herm .. i felt they had to go with proven winner…
but then i sorta bought into the bravado … and was willing to give him a shot ……. but he quikly became a wrestinlg act …. i knew we were in trouble … and we we’re 3-0 than …..
Now for something completely different … Imagine there was an all powerful GOD that controlled everything that’s happened since DAY 1. Not just sports but EVERYTHING. Now imagine that GOD stuck us with the Same Old Jets, made us fall in love with a perennial loser. Why? What did we do to suffer this fate? Don’t ask me, I’m under the bus with this “team”, but something must be said for weathering the storm. That which doesn’t destroy you, makes you stronger. Jets fans, take a bow; not for winning, for losing and not quitting on a team that quits on us. You wouldn’t be here except for love. Appreciate it.
John M
I dont agree with you, but at least you are a standup guy. We can agree to disagree.
I personally love Ryan, but I can SEE what you are saying. I can understand someone wanting a Cowher , Shanahan or Gruden. I didnt, but its completely valid and understandable if you did. Hey man, at least you are not still bearing the “Eric Mangini” cross like Hank.
I just warning before you start singing Hanks praises, you are gonna have to hear it from here to kingdom come.
Plus as you can see, he is full of ish anyway
john m:
It easy to pick shots, and there is NO ONE, NOT ONE true Jets fan that has been more loyal to the team than I. I WALKED TO SHEA MOST SUNDAYS.
And like you, swallowed all the “Swargerlicious” talk about Rex and his henchman.
Now seen him now do a 180 just turns my stomach. This guy is just like his father. A Great DC , loser for a HC, ARROGANT and with a HUGE FAT MOUTH.
It’s the second time he cries, at least Verniel only cried ONCE, and now he is asking for help?
Give me a freeking break!!!!
BENCH SANCHEZ…..HE IS THE WORST…He makes me so sick in the stomach….
Ryan needs more than advice, he needs to get his head out of his ass. his team is playing like bunch of pansies and the season is slipping away. exuberance is nice when your winning , but when losing it’s embarrassingly foolish.many had said it’s not easy to go from coordinator to head coach in one year. and it’s apparent he’s struggling in that transition. he has to avoid losing the locker room cause losing the handle of the team was mangini’s undoing . Rex needs start to acting like coach before it happens to him.
Awwwwwww widdle Hank walked all the way through the streets of Flushing to Shea huh? U wanna a cookie?
Talk about doing a 180- what was all that stuff you were preaching in January?
Quit your crying and go call a WAAAAA-mbulance
For your info- Hank get a clue
Vermeil cried all the time, every season. They did a whole thing on NFL Films about it. The guy always cried.
Joe Torre cried alot too and he can barely fit all his championship rings on one hand.
Another thing, if Rex were exactly like his father, instead of humbling himself and reaching out to others for advice, he would not be on speaking terms with John Harbaugh (Buddy and Ditka dont speak) and he wouldnt have knocked Schotty out during the Buffalo game.
You are reaching Hank-
you wanna change your mind about anything else right now while were here? pump it up now so you can stab the guy right in the back ,you snake
*he would have knocked Schotty out during the Buffalo game.
sorry
I can only say we have a bunch of front runners on this site… I am glad the Rex Ryan Kool-aid tastes bitter now.
Eddie Digio don’t forget to sleep with your helmet on tonight.
Yea thanks buddy, it didnt make sense the first time you said it
Here comes your weekly internet spanking
I think you are the one with the head trauma-You catch a glimpse of the complete 180 Daddy made in regards to how he feels about Rex after the Jets started LOSING?
Nooooo. Just act like everybody isnt on to your BS huh? Act like its not there right ? You’ll just sweep it under the rug or run and hide like your father, the coward, does every time he opens his big, stupid mouth and contradicts himself.
You cant frontrun for a 4-5 team and for a coach that is being KILLED in the media, you goon. On the other hand, you pick the Jets to lose every week but you were AWOL when they were 3-0, no one saw you. Now your swelling up your chest, feeling yourself a little bit right? YOU AINT FOOLING ANYONE! EVEN THE SUN SHINES ON A DOG ASS SOMETIMES!
Keep cranking out the gems Fonzie.. . As long as the Jets dont win the Super Bowl, you can never be wrong right? Thats the most important thing to you people, to be right. Or is it getting off on the Jets and 90% of its fanbase misery? Either way, way to go lil Hank!!! You must be on top of the world!!!
So go cry yourself to sleep about Sanchez’s hotdog birthcake or the fact that your 21 years old and you already sound middle aged. Because when you wake up in the morning you will still be full of $hi+
Everyone on this team just needs to shut up for one week. It is something every week. Just get through a week without having an excuse, or crying, or wanting to call other coaches, or taking the blame, or proclaiming that the D is great despite the losing, or that we have the best running game even though we lost. Just NOTHING for one week! One week! That’s all I ask.
I have no problem with Crying Rex Ryan. He’s just passionate and frustrated. He’ll find his way, but it costing us a season that a veteran coach would have won today.
bungi:
Not just one week, not only the coach and the team should shut the hell up with their righteous indignation and BS, but also most of the fans.
Those same fans that brought NATIONAL disgrace to New York and thereby force a ban on selling alcohol at the stadium.
Yeah, those same classless fans that think buying a ticket allows them to destroy the image of a city and the character of other fans.
bungi, you are right, the coach, the team and those fans that are classless should just shut the F…CK UP, not just for one week, but ALL the time needed to restore some badly needed class to the JETS image !!!
These same Jerks Believe that they can fix everything by oppening their mouths EVEN BIGGER!!!
Why should they shut up? Because it embarrasses you? Are you ashamed to look like a fool for talking big but coming up small?
I don’t understand why you need them to keep quiet. I don’t believe it affects them on the field, if anything, the talk has helped — no one thought they could win their first three games and they did with confidence — a confidence they lost on Monday Night and have been struggling to recapture.
Your solution to finding that swagger they had early on again is to sit in the corner and keep the mouths shut? Just so YOU are not embarrassed when they lose? That’s on you and your insecurities.
greg sec 130:
“Why should they shut up? Because it embarrasses you? Are you ashamed to look like a fool for talking big but coming up small”
THAT IS EXACTLY WHY !!! You talk BIG, lose 5 out of six, you come up small !!!
And some people think they can fix that by opening their mouths even BIGGER !!!!!
This is embarrassing. The ship be sinking, if you all dont see it you are blind from drinking green kool aid. The league is laughing at this franchise and coach right now, went from arrogance without achievement to to a buffoon crybaby in nine short games. My what our JEts can do to a perso, perhaps Rex understands the same old jets mentality now?
Rex should seek help from a shrink, the one that needs to talk to Cowher is Woody Johnson, someone needs to come in here and remake this organization from top to bottom.
It should have been done last year, but Woody had a plane to catch.
There are a bunch of veteran coaches looking to reenter the league and this is a prime franchise with talent in place. Woody needs to knock Mr. T out of the way and get one of these guys NOW. Hire him as a consultant with a handshake that he takes over football operation in 2010.
The coach crying out for help is the perfect cover.
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/keep_on_yappin_WTAISDGMycsx5xJHhAWWLO
Read this please.
WOJF,
Because if Cowher had his Steelers career here, we would have given him 14 seasons to win a title, right? It’s the fan base that needs to be remade top-to-bottom. As a fan base our expectations are high year in and year out, and they should be. But the first sign of adversity or struggle and people flick the siren and it’s “all hands on deck” to rip the team.
Calling for Tanny to be removed is outrageous. He doesn’t coach the teams, he just puts them together. You said it yourself “this is a prime franchise with talent in place”. That is Tanny’s work. It’s not his fault if his coaches drop the ball.
rex to me has done a great job the defense has shown flashes of being dominant but they are letting up in the last play the offense needs to score td not fg agansit a team like jacksonville rex needs to know the first year nobody wins a super bowl and i dont want to go to the playoffs to loose forget the fans and media and evaluate your team let the offense loose and see what they are about hey did you guys see the browns we dont know how bless we are with sanchez this team is good and the loses could only make us better to me its the media and fans the hurt the future of this team forcing changes every 3 years. we will never see a sb that way maybe same old negative fans media
rex in ny you have the opponent and the media you have to play two teams here i gauranntee you just be yourself and you will win joe torre went to the ws 6 times in 10 years and they still cried winning 4 ws titles this town is full of media loosers who cant get a jod nowhere else they think that it makes them feel better to break someone down but you cant change them me myself i would not talk to them and just concentrate on winning ask woody for an xtrra mill just to get abused by the media and ignorant fans that are so perfect that they do there jobs great without mistakes and they get paid also may be god himself needs to coach the jets
Brendan;
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Why is it “Tannys work” in that we have “a primed franchize with talented players” AND you NEVER mention the MAIN(GINI) reason we got those players?
Wise Old Jet Fan:
These kids don’t understand. I do hope however, that Rex and Scott have eaten enough humble pie to open their eyes and ears to all the laughter and ridicule arround the league.
I only hope is that they have listened ,because I know the BIGGEST MOUTHS on this blog will not!!!
Hank,
So when players work out, it’s Mangini who got them here. But when they don’t work out or are a bust it’s the MEDIA LASER-EQUIPPED SHARK INFESTED WATERS WITH THEIR ENDLESS VENDETTA AGAINST SAINT MANGINI!!!!!!!!!!! (!’s go on endlessly)!!!!! ?? We’ve gone over this, you can’t switch your argument for each individual battle.
To say Mangini was the main reason free agents came here is just showing your man-crush on the guy has officially reached “scary” levels.
The league is laughing because the dissension in the Jets fan base is legendary. The rest of the NFL was laughing at the way Jets fans way before Rex Ryan ever got here.
Thats what you relics dont understand. Its not the kids fault people say same old Jets, its yours. Congrats Hank and WOJF, THIS IS YOUR WORK!!!!
