  3. avatar NO1CANGUARDTHECLOWN says:

rhodes is the most overrated play in the afc east

  4. avatar JPM says:

This was the best summing up of the Jets season I’ve read (by Mike Tanier of the NYT):

“After a 3-0 start, the Jets suddenly look like what they really are: a team with a rookie quarterback, major injuries on both sides of the ball and a tough schedule.”

  5. avatar Will says:

    Kerry Rhodes…PRO BOWL?!?!?!?! HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    and so on

  6. avatar AKA....Drew says:

    Jets Pro Bowl players

    Revis – starter
    Mangold – starter
    D Harris – backup
    D Brick – backup

Maybe T Jones with a big 2nd half and Faneca on reputation

  7. avatar Dean Barbella says:

Will beat me to the punch…. Kerry Rhodes Pro Bowl?

I know ya got the talent to win, but ya gotta earn it, pal! What have ya done for us Jets fans lately?

    Stop tweeting and start playing!!!

Us Jets fans are tired of players with personality. I don’t care what your favor color is or whether you can play the violin.

Just win! Until you do… Shut the Hell Up!

You can go to Honolulu wearing some other team’s helmet. We want winners in Hofstra, not Social Media.

    Shut up & Play!!!

  8. avatar brian311 says:

faneca is a lock. he is already leading the voting by a mile

T-Rich might also get in if we end with the top rushing attack

  9. avatar Dean Barbella says:

David Clowney, I love ya man and I know ya gotta feel like you can make the playoffs, but ya might want to make it on the field before ya open your trap.

The only playoffs your seeing is fantasy. pal. Jets have blowin’ four games in the fourth quarter. Fans are heartbroken about what should of, could of been 9-0 heading into playoffs… And, we gotta listen to our dumb-a$$ depth chart dwellin’ wideout spout bulletin board fodder for New England… as if they need more motivation.

    Shut the hell up!!!

Feel the fury of the fans! No one should be comfortable in that locker room and least of all you!!!!

    We want winners!

    Jets Fans

  10. avatar JL says:

I my best Jim Mora voice…”PLAYOFFS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? PLAYOFFS?”

Hey, Clowney, JUST SHUT UP AND BEAT NEW ENGLAND.

  11. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    Whoops!

What I meant to say is, “Fans are heartbroken about what should of, could of been 9-1 heading into playoffs.”

  12. avatar Dean Barbella says:

I think us Jets fans should stage a sit in or a picket line. I doesn’t look to me that these guys understand how badly they have performed and upset us fans are. They seem way to relaxed, cavalier for my taste.

Even the Mets, though decimated with injuries, acknowledged their poor performance, by growing beards, util they got to .500 (they didn’t).

Yet, silly as it may seem, it communicated to me their resolve and uncomfortable pain that we Jets/Mets fans share.

Enough’s enough! If our players performance is gonna make my life miserable watching this mess every Sunday, then I’m gonna make them miserable reminding them they SUCK and to SHUT THE HELL UP the rest of the week!!!

How’s that Swagger for ya REX?!!!!!

  13. avatar Brendan says:

Atta boy Dean, that will surely help the team. Tell them how they’re terrible.

By all means go ahead and schedule your sit-in or picket line. That stadium is filling up with or without you, with real fans who will support this team.

  14. avatar JEFFDOLFINI says:

Dean is a real fan you jack-a$$! Why do you guys think that we must sit there and take this crap as fans? Dean is right to be mad, I am really mad at this team. I wear their colors every day and spend alot of time rooting for them, but they don’t seem to want to win bad enough. They deserve negative feedback, up to this point, they suck!

  15. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    Atta boy, Brendan,

Since you’re a real fan, why don’t ya show your appreciation by carrying Clowney’s water bottle?

He’s got get mighty thirsty with all that yappin’?!

Maybe, you can show your support for Kerry Rhodes terrible play of late by carrying his luggage… he’s going to Honolulu, ya know?!

Maybe spark a Super Bowl of the “Da Kine!” It works for Rickie and ya gotta be smokin something if ya can stomach this kinda play and still kiss Rhodes A$$.

    Tweet! Tweet!

  16. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    Thank, JEFFDOLFINI! My point, exactly!

  17. avatar Brendan says:

Wow, you two are fired up today.

    Jeff,

No need for name calling. And I am a real fan. I went to every home game in our glorious 1-15 season. Did I boo? Sure did. Did I want to stage a sit-in or picket line and tell the players they all suck? No, I didn’t.

    Dean,

Where did I say anything about Rhodes? The fact he thinks he is headed for Hawaii is laughable. But thanks for putting words in my mouth.

You don’t have to threaten boycotting the team to be critical. And do you honestly think they’re in the locker room thinking they’re the best team in the NFL? Of course they don’t. But to change the way they’ve been behaving all season at this point would bring just as much criticism, if not more, than changing. Only then it would be because they’re being fake and not true to themselves. There’s always something to complain about, and I’m not going to fault a player because he has high hopes for this team, even given how dire our current situation is.

    Hah, real fan. Ok guys.

  18. avatar Rudibager says:

    Keep talking, Clowney.
I’m glad that the players aren’t just gonna lay down and die. So they lost a few games they should have.

Big woop. There are still more games to be played. Whether they make the playoffs or not, I don’t want to watch a team that thinks it’s impossible.

    Impossible is nothing.

  19. avatar Rudibager says:

And unlike a lot of you guys, I don’t give a crap that this team talks a lot of trash.

Who the hell cares if other teams and their fans don’t like us? We’re not running for public office or some kind of bullcrap Model UN organization! We’re playing football!

So beat writers and jorunalists think the Jets talk too much? No biggy.

Oh NO! Pats fans giving me crap about our swagger? Big effing deal. Deal with it people. As passionate as we are about this team, keep things in perspective. You really SHOULDN’T be embarrassed by this stuff. You should just want the players to do whatever it takes to help prepare for a win. If that means the players need to have a certain cocky attitude, even in the face of adversity, so be it baby!

    Bring it!

  20. avatar Shamik says:

Anyone check out Simmons giving the Jets some respect today by picking us over his Pats. Yeah right, he’s trying to reverse jinx us. Bastard spent 3000 words pissing and moaning about how its the end of an era, the Pats just barely lost a game on a gamble! I love his stuff, but damn, he can be such a brainless homer sometimes.

  21. avatar JEFFDOLFINI says:

Listen it is no offense to you, I am just getting tired of being accused of not being a real fan because I talk negatively about the team. I think the problem with most Jets fans is they are so used to losing that they actually accept it. When someone actually does not accept it, the “real” fans start questioning our fanhood. Guess what, I have a message to the “real” fans. If you are not totally pissed off and angry beyond belief at this team right now then you are not a true fan. Trust me I lose many nights of sleep over this franchise. Maybe you should care a little bit more about your team………

  22. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    Brendan,

I don’t like this comment, “Hah, real fan. Ok guys.” And, pretty sure you wouldn’t say it to my face. You’re welcome to try.

I’ll be at Timmy Nolans in Los Angeles hanging with their Fan Club and Frankie Pecorado.Otherwise, you can meet any weekend at R Bar, where I run the largest Jets Fan Club in San Francisco.

You sound like a transgender cheerleader: ‘Leave Britney Alone!’

If wanna clean the dishes and wipe their A$$ES, go ahead. But, I’m not gonna breast feed these overpaid, underachieving prima donnas.

These guys should be ashamed of themselves and mad as hell. I embarrased for them, for me!

I’d rather see them refuse an iterview then talk bunnies and rainbows in a doom and gloom ****storm!!!

I really hope Rhodes and Clowney stop hiding behind a keyboard. It’s time to give their fingers a rest and walk the walk on scoreboard!!!

Rex should put his boot in their A$$!!!

  23. avatar Brendan says:

    Dean,

You can calm down with the tough-guy act. If you want to picket in front of the stadium during a game, then I’m going to question whether you’re a real fan. That’s just the way I am. I have no qualms about saying anything I write on here to someone’s face, but since I live in NYC we won’t be seeing each other anytime soon.

You think these guys are complacent with where the team is? Have you read any of these transcripts, or watch any of the pressers on the Jets’ website? They ARE mad about the state of the team and want nothing more then to string some wins together to quiet all the “woe-is-me SOJ” nonsense.

    Jeff,

If you really think I don’t care enough about this team, you haven’t been reading my comments for the past year. I’m here every single day, talking all things Jets, and I don’t do it because I like the finger exercise.

And for every fan you’re tired of being optimistic, there’s just as many fans that are tired of the constant negativity. IMO, it’s the negative, bashing, relentless “woe-is-me” persona that some fans take on that perpetuates the cycle. I’m not saying you can’t be negative, trust me I am my fair share of the time, but to say you want to picket and to call me out for being too optimistic is ridiculous.

This team isn’t the Browns. We’re not the Lions. We are a good team, with a rookie running the team and running the offense, and are close. I’ve felt better about this team (obviously not the past few weeks, but in general) since this regime took over. We’re 4-5 not 0-9. Let’s let the season play out before we start causing riots over freakin’ twitter messages.

  24. avatar Dean Barbella says:

Whatever you SOB… Same Ol’ Brendan!

    Burn That!!! Goodnight.

  25. avatar Andy says:

Hey All I know is I will be fighting for the Jets until the end. It is ok to be mad and upset at your team. As long as you don’t jump off the bridge too early or give up. That is what i HATE THE MOST! It ain’t over until the fat lady sings. Oh and don’t give me the fat lady is warming up either.

  26. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    Andy,

I agree. So, let’s clarify. I’m not giving up on the Jets and seven loses is when the Fat lady starts warming up. Rather, I think it is irresponsible and inappropriate for an All Pro Safety, Kerry Rhodes, having a sub par year on an underacheiving team that just squandered four games in the final seconds to be eliciting help to go to Honolulu.

Instead, he should be embassed, pissed off and preparing for the Patriots.

As for Mr. September, David Clowney, talking smack, he’s not going to earn any air time on Rome Is Burning, ’til he earns more time on the field. He’s got Devin Hesterlike potential, yet, for now, he’s buried in the depth chart behind Edwards, Cotchery, etc.

In short. Fans are King! I’m all about the Team and Winning. These two guys seem clueness to my pain and their performance.

We’ve got the Patriots, Colts and yes, the surprising Bengals coming up.

Face reality Rhodes… you don’t deserve any votes and Clowney’s lucky to be in the locker room.

Shut up and play or go somewhere else!

    My humble opinion, Dean.

  27. avatar Andy says:

    Dean,

Rhodes should not be asking for votes I agree he don’t deserve it. Maybe next season. I just want the Jets to beat on the Pats. I was making a general statement of people who were jumping. Glad to know you aren’t. It killed me remembering after the first Miami loss fans were ready to jump. Sickening.

  28. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    Good Man, Andy!

Miami’s a bitter pill, but we’ll get our swagger back!

  29. avatar JEFFDOLFINI says:

Rhodes sucks man, shut up and hit somebody Kerry! Until then shut your mouth. Go Jets, I hate the Patriots more than my worst enemy. If this team can somehow win this game we are back in it. If we lose this game, then I am sorry but, same ole Jets. Go Jets!

  30. avatar James in TN says:

Dean , good points. The team of millionaires could give 2 sh@#$ whether they win or not. They need to know that the fans who buy the sh@# that pays their bills is fed up with the poor play! I for one am cancelling my Directv sunday ticket after this year, and unless they are at the Titans or Panthers, I won’t consider going to see them play. Say what you will but the whole fan experience has been declining since Owners realized they could gauge the average joe for more and more every year in ticket prices, apparrel(check out the nfl shop catalog lol)and concessions.

I have been and will be a fan of this team , but if this crap keeps up you do have to ask when is enough, enough? The players don’t care about fans and I challenge anyone to disprove this. If not for contract language they would not interact with the public at all. It is a sad day when the most giving of NFL atheletes is Ocho Cinco. He seems more genuine than any Rhodes type player I have ever seen.

    Whew.

Go Jets, beat the patriots. if not just shut up!

  31. avatar greg sec 130 says:

Dean — I think you should sit outside the stadium and boycott the game. It doesn’t mean you are a real fan or not a real fan, it just makes you a loser. No one knows or cares how much you like or support this team internally, but externally people will laugh at you when they walk past you and into the stadium, as you sit alone with your cardboard sign, especially if you look and act anything like you seem to be based on your writing.

As for Rhodes, does it really bother you that he tweeted to his followers to vote for his teammates? He wrote after if you don’t want to vote, then don’t, and to vote for his teammates. He’s having fun in his downtime with his followers. If you don’t like it, don’t pay attention. It affects his performance on the field about as much as commenting on thejetsblog affects my performance at work. None.

  32. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

I wouldn’t vote for kerry rhodes unless it was for the all toilet bowl team. That is how badly he has played this year. If he thinks he deserves to be all pro, he should be tested because he is smoking something.

  33. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    greg sec 130,

I think you should sit outside my creative writing class for taking my revolution literally.

Really? Did ya think I was gonna stage a sit in?

    Incredible.

Ya don’t have to step over my body to get into the Stadium ’cause I won’t be lying on the sidewalk. Rather, my comments are a fantastic illustration of how I feel.

    Betrayed.

Like you, I love my Jets, but I also want to win, which means I am not going to eat dawg **** and call it filet mignon. And, it’s not about the record either. It’s about heart and having a plan.

If your plan is just to go to the Meadowlands, that’s great. Go to Google Maps. Print Directions. You’re in.

The rest of us want to go to the Super Bowl and I know Rex Ryan does too. The flip side of winning and talking is losing and crying. I’m glad he’s man enough to be himself and proud we’ve got a leader who won’t mail it in.

Which brings me to my point. The flipside of team is “I.” There’s no “I” in “Team.”

This team is in crisis. The quarter back is reading prepared statements post game like he’s on trial. And, Rhodes has the audacity to promote himself?

    WTF?

I also don’t need Clowney blowing smoke up Jim’s skirt on on Rome is Burning.

So, if ya wann be a clone drone marching like lemmings into the Meadowlands without any disgust for this behavior, then by all means step over me.

    figuratively!

I’ll be the guy holding a sign that reads, “Shut the Hell Up and Play!!!

    Dean

  34. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    And, another thing!

While prima donna players with aspirations outside gridiron is nothing new and I understand Rex’s swagger versus Mangin’s iron curtain, Kerry Rhodes has to understand he’s in Hoftstra, not Hollywood!

The only way he’s gonna make it to the silver screen is through the playing field, not a read through.

So, he should work on impressing us on the field and off. He can start by picking up a sports page and readin the standings.

Jets gave him a five-year, $33.5 million deal and I think he’ll earn every penny, but right now both he and the Jets are playin’ like crap.

Wake up and smell reality. Be sensitive to the fans and start making headilnes on ESPN, not ET.

    Whew!

I’m hoping that’s my last rant. It’s cocktail hour!

  35. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

Clowney will be gone by next season.

  36. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Dean- I understand and feel your frustration, but I think you are over reacting.

Hey man, we all got fooled. Sanchez was great in the first month of the season, Rex had the D playing 85 Bears like and we were 3-0.

Then the reality of the inexperience at the two most important men on a pro football team set in. Then two MASSIVE injuries were dealt to our team. We couldnt win this year, there is just too much against us.

Rex had to fire up these guys a little bit after Eric Mangini ran through this team and left it battered and bruised. He tried to get this team fired up with a little trash talk, but being new to the job, he just went a LITTLE overboard.

You have every right to pissed but take a step back and look at it for what it is. Most of the best players on this team are all young guys. You have a defensive mastermind who is learning on the job. I know it seems like they will never win another game right now but they will. If they are doing the same stuff 3 years from now then you will be totally justified

Playoffs this year? 95% chance of no. But the best is yet to come from this young, talented team

  37. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Dean- I totally agree with you that Rhodes has BALLS to promote himself.

Ill be fair and say that I know Kerry Rhodes is better than he is playing right now bc we’ve seen it as Jet fans, but he is playing like ABSOLUTE CRAP right now.

Kerry should put the Twitter down and watch some tape of how late he has been on some plays and his awful blown coverage last Sun vs the Jags.

Kerry where you go bro? we all loved you, go back to the hungry 4th rd pick out of Louisville who was eager to show his skills and earn a spot in this league, we know the ladies love ya but your losing the fans

  38. avatar Dean Barbella says:

    Eddie,

When you’re right, you’re right. I’m gonna take the same advice you gave Kerry and put the down Twitter.

Plus, I poured myself a glass of scotch, so I’m feeling more charitable – lol.

Here’s a toast to the J-E-T-S! And, to great fans like Jeff Dolfini and you talking me down from the ledge (figuratively)!

  40. avatar Wise Old Jet Fan says:

After much debate you all seem to have landed on the correct point, IF Kerry is such a team player, why is he promoting, himself OR any of his teammates, for the pro bowl, a pure popularity contest that has nothing to do with winning.

He gets paid millions of dollars to win football games, not tweet, and should be focused on one thing, the Patriots. His coach clearly indicted him yesterday as someone that is not putting in the extra work and the media is correctly running with it.

The lack of love for him lately has been truly earned.

  41. avatar greg sec 130 says:

    Dean,

I would not attend a writing class of yours if you paid me. Your first post was far from creative, and my response was as figurative as yours. I did not think you would really sit outside alone with a cardboard sign, I was merely calling you a loser.

The oddest part is that even in defending your comments of not going to the games as figurative, you continue to mock those that will still go to games while you protest. How creative.

Find a point and stick with it. Get a little focus and write from there. Your comments are all over the place and in my writing class, you would receive a D-.

  42. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    WOJF
Seriously, Rex called Rhodes out for not putting in the extra hours?

If you got the article please post a link

Man if this is true I dont care if Fonzie was right about him, I am going to be FUMING F’IN PISSED at Kerry Rhodes.

If this is true and he keeps treating this season like he can play as bad as he wants and nothing will happen to him, I hope Rex gives him his walking papers

Say it aint so Kerry, you were the pride of the Jets and now you are becoming a joke…man, really disheartening
