Breaking: Clowney in the Clear
UPDATE: It’s Bassett, I’ve touched down in the land of the in-laws and to say the least, I’m still dubious. I appreciate E.Weeks efforts and that the Jets have released a statement, but I’m not buying this one yet. Time to do some research.
Though David Clowney was thought to have ran his mouth a little too far today apparently a “rogue tweeter” hacked Clowney’s account and wrote the tweets according to ESPN.
The Jets issued a statement Monday night alerting fans that a “rogue tweeter” was sending out vulgar messages under Clowney’s account. Clowney, who has more than 6,700 followers, was not available for comment.
I did have my suspicions as Clowney was already reprimanded for a tweet complaining about his playing time a couple of months back and it would have seemed unorthodox of him to repeat past mistakes. Anyway, again I’m glad to see this straightened out and now we can move forward.

YAY!
Who cares, his will still be gone by the start of next season.
That’s it? No apology? He was basically convicted by Bassett and everyone who commented on the original post. An “oh, by the way he was innocent” is all he gets?
LOL did you ever think Clowney is pretending to be hacked now to cover his tracks on that DM?
who cares…he’s USELESS to us.
David Clowney is the hacker, he did it to cover his tracks
I agree with Jerry — this is just a cover. The tweets certainly seemed genuine. If it was a rogue hacker he probably would’ve gone a lot farther.
Relax, who cares if its a cover up or not. I remember being in 1st grade and meeting Darryl Strawberry at an autograph signing at my elementry school. He didn’t say a word to anyone who was trying to get an autograph, just kept talking to some random guy about drinking and banging chicks. I remember it well, because I learn a lot that day thanks to Darryl Strawberry. And you know what, it was 1986. Point being: this has been going on forever and has no effect on the field.
Remember people Clowney started posting a barrage of crazy tweets only once this DM came public. You are trying to tell me a hacker got into his account sent a DM defending Clowney’s previous post and then conveniently right after his DM came public started tweeting that he wanted people to kill themselves and that he is a hacker. God this is sooo obvious!!
Sorry, not buying it.
Seriously people get a life. I don’t care if he said it or not. Players on this team are damned if they damned if they don’t. People are so quick to jump on any little thing on this board. It’s starting to make me sick. Have some loyalty and a little faith. You people are so damn delusional. I’m glad I don’t have to watch the games with you bipolar freakshow fans. Its hard enough routing for the team up in New England without all the added drama of a bunch of fans who freak out at any piece of news whether it proves to be true or not. Chill the feck out.
You’re right, they’re definitely damned if they don’t tell fans to kill themselves.
I gotta agree. There’s no Rogue Tweeter, just two Rogue Jets: David Clowney and I’m throwing Kerry Rhodes under the Tweet Tweet – Here’s Come the Bus too!
Basically, Clowney’s a good dude, doing dumb things. Somebody’s got tape his mouth and sit on his keyboard, cause he’s arrogant and insensitive. He’s putting “I” ahead of “Team” before he makes the “Team.”
Likewise, Kerry Rhodes need to “Shut the Hell Up and Play!”
And, please Good God keep his locker as far away from Braylon’s as possible. These guys’ Saturdays are killing our Sundays.
Listen, you’re not Tyson the Male Model and you’re not Leo Dicaprio. You’re a football player; and if you play well enough, you can make really bad movies like Jim Brown.
‘Til then, TEVO Dancing with Stars, we’ve got a game to play. My patience has worn thin and I would cut your A$$ on principle.
Really, we’re losing anywayz. Might as well lose with pride and surround ourselves with players who care about the team, us fans.
In other words, if I was Rex, you would be playing anywhere, but here!
Oh, and for the one in twenty Jets fans out there who never utter a disparaging word against their team, please spare me your attacks about how I’m not a “real” Jets fan, because I spoke up.
You can go ahead and worship young punks acting like idiots. I want to win; and I don’t care how talented a player is. If he puts himself ahead of team; under-estimates opponents and challenges fans then his real contribution will alway add up negative.
Note to Rex: Straightin’ Up Clowney and Rhodes or Ship ‘em the Hell out!!!
