49ers drop Tampering Charges

We have all been caught up in the the regular season and what not that most of us repressed the memory of the 49ers filing tampering charges against the Jets believing they contacted Michael Crabtree without permission. According to a “league source” Jed York has seen the error of his ways and decided to leave the Jets alone.

The 49ers filed tampering charges with the NFL regarding their then-negotiations with first-round draft pick Crabtree. Former player Deion Sanders said he knew two teams that were willing to pay Crabtree what he wanted while he was holding out from the Niners. The 49ers investigated and filed the charge against the Jets.

The 49ers signed Crabtree to a six-year contract in early October. He has 22 catches for 292 yards and one touchdown since joining the 49ers.

I highly doubt York saw the ”light” but with Crabtree finally taking the money and getting out on the field I think San Francisco didn’t see the value in pursuing the matter further though I’m steamed that the NFL will let the 49ers slide on that, in my opinion the Jets should at least get a “Sorry about That” card from Jed.

  1. Per Michael “Cap Jail” Lombardi: “…the league said in a memo in May of 2008 if you file a claim against a team and it turns out to be frivolous, you are at risk.”

You can’t tell me this wasn’t a distraction – look what it’s done to our team! I demand they send us their next 3 first rounders!

Who want to join my angry mob?

  2. It never made sense anyway. I still haven’t been able to reconcile any realistic way that Crabtree could have ended up as a Jet and earned more money than the 49ers were offering him.

  3. Coach Urkel needs to issue an apology for the false tampering charges and the fortywhiners play on the field.

We would like their OC as compensation.

  4. Seriously, the league should fine or penalize the 9ers in some way to show that it frowns upon this type of behavior.

  5. Nice Xmas gift for Tannenbaum, as this would have been yet another embarrassment for a franchise that leads the world in them.

  6. Tough loss to the Patriots. I was pulling for you guys. So does anyone here think the Saints can beat the Patriots on MNF?

  7. Yeah. NO has the best dome crowd in the NFL. Indy’s home crowd really seemed to affect the Pats late in that game, so the NO crowd should be able to duplicate that. Both have questions in their secondary and most people will probably expect both teams to air it out big time. I tend to think each team is going to put a heavy emphasis on the running game to wear down the other team, control the flow of the game and (most importantly) keep the other team’s offense off of the field. Playing both teams, I can definitely say the Saints can run it better, and that might be the edge that decides this game. Either way, it should be a good one.

  8. We have Sharper and Greer back so hopefully we’ll be able to contain Brady a bit. I agree we need some long drives with 7 at the end. Would love to see Sharper with another Pick 6.

I’m looking forward to a great game. We’re getting out there around lunch time so the Dome should be Rockin come kickoff.

Good luck next week against the Panthers! I’ll be pulling for you.

    Geaux JETS!

  9. Oh God, you had to mention ‘Sharper’ and ‘Pick 6′ didn’t ya? Just kidding, the guy is basically timeless and looks like he’s 26 years old. Here’s hoping he can bait Brady into an ill-advised pass over the middle. The best way to rattle Brady is with pressure, and if the Saints bring it like they did against the Jets, they’ll have a really good chance to get to Brady.

  10. Can the Jets get something out of this…..like a 49ers draft pick?

  11. You have got to be kidding me. The Jets are guilty on this one. The day after negotiations started with Crabtree, you go on to sign Braylon Edwards. Face it, you got caught so grow a sets of stones and accept responsibility.

  12. Yeah, that must be why they dropped the charges.
