It wasn’t supposed to be a trick question. The only problem I have with your answer is that, in my opinion, Baker, Coles and Kendall were all underperforming when the Jets decided to not pay them.

As for Mangini getting Gholston, he’ll need to retain his job first.

Glad you asked. First ,my problem with contracts is when they are not honored and the players perform to expectation but the bean counter and his suck-up want to save $$$$$. I just wanted to clear that up.

Second, I (and Fonzie) have been clear fro the beggining that Hallowwood Rhodes has skated by since mid ‘07 and should not have been hailed as an elite DB by most media sharks and most TJB posters.

Since his performance continues to decline, he should be benched ( although about a year late) and given the rest of the season to earn his $$$$. If it still doesn’t happen he should be released ( see M. Roth Dolphins) or traded if possible.

Sanchez has started more games than Gholston but, he is allowed to learn and mature and Gholston is a bust. You guys have absolutely no patience. Sanchez is a bigger bust than Gholston, at this point. Give Gholston some time. He’ll become a player.

In my opinion unless Gholston found some pass rushing skills and an NFL required game on the bench the last 2 weeks…. his fate is altready sealed for this team I dont care how old he is. The light has been trying to go on for 2 years now and ……nothing

I defended Rhodes when he was playing well weeks 1-4 and have apologized for defending him recently as his play have gotten worse.

I have no probelm admitting when I see things wrong. Early on he was being singled out in my mind cause he tweets and is cockywhen he was playing “okay”

The last 2 games have been awful and he effort has to be questioned at this point

The reports continue to be conflicting, so I can’t guarantee that 100%, but that seems to make the most sense. We keep trying to get formal confirmation.

Gholston’s fate might be decided over these next six games, although in an uncapped year, there’s nothing to be lost by giving him another shot in camp next year and seeing if he builds on his undeniable (albeit slower than hoped) improvement since last year.

Rhodes is a more tricky proposition. If they view him as a negative influence, I guess they’ll take the hit and maybe use the uncapped year as far as is possible to create extra space to cover the hit in 2011.

As Jets fans the best possible outcome (by a long margin) is for Rhodes to get his act together and start playing well again.
