When the turkey’s go into hiding, the Macy’s Day Parade is playing on most TV’s and Tony Kornheiser begins wearing his getup during PTI, you know it is Thanksgiving. All of us here at TJB want to wish you a happy thanksgiving and remember to save room for dessert and football.
- Rex Ryan is embarrased he had to bench Rhodes but notes it needed to be done. The Post also notes this will be the first time Rhodes takes a seat on the bench.
- Rex has a few “codes” for Sanchez.
- GGN takes a look at some good draft choices for the Jets in 2010.
- Rex is trying to adjust to life as a balanced head coach who is taking a French class.
- You will need a pass but according to Scout.com, Sione Pouha is playing quite well in place of the injured Kris Jenkins.
- OchoCinco says he’ll go off for Kerry Rhodes. OchoCinco DEFENDING Rhodes!? Child Please!
- Leberfeld questions how benching Rhodes will solve anything.
- The Jet families are getting together for Turkey day.
- Want to score some free tickets to Canada to see the Bills-Jets game? Head on over to GGN eh.
- Robert Kraft admitting the Saints are the better team!? At least one person in New England is modest.

This quote lifted from today’s excellent Cimini article just says it all:
“If I can’t have a living and do what I want to do besides football, maybe they should pay my bills,” said Rhodes, who will make close to $10 million this season. “I have to think of my career outside football. Football is not forever.”
Cant pay those bills on $10M Kerry? What the hell are you spending it on? Umm, I think the Jets organization and fans are currently paying your bills, arent they?
Yeah, you DESERVE to be compensated even more than $10M to sacrifice your “outside football” career, thats the ticket.
How exactly would that career be going if you, umm, were drafted by Cleveland lets say?
So perhaps the Jets, and we fans, had just a tad to do with you even having an outside career, so perhaps YOU owe US a little more effort in your primary profession.
Jerk, he obviously tanked once he got the big payday, something they need to consider bigtime before signing his bff Edwards to a big money deal.
Leberfeld as usual has no clue. All he has to do is read Cimini who nails his question on the head.
Benching Rhodes is not about changing the Jets fortunes this season, it is sending a message to Kerry and the other vets that their focus needs to be on football, this year and every year after this.
It is about discovering if he is willing to do the extra things that playing in the league requires, so they know whethar they can count on him in future years. If not, they unload him this offeseason.
It is also about rewarding Eric Smith, who apparently HAS been putting in the extra time, and finding out if he can do the job going forward.
This is the first of many to come.
Did the Pats benching help A Thomas? Indeed it did, he has played great since.
And they truly benched him, making him inactive and sending him home to watch on TV. Rhodes was only demoted to second string, not strong enough in my opinion but perhaps unavoidable due to lack of depth at the position.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I keep reading Kerry Rhodes response to the media about the benching – he just doesn’t get it. He needs to SHUT UP. Don’t talk to the media. I have some advice Kerry…
DISAPPEAR OFF THE FIELD AND SHOW UP ON IT.
You too Toon2388!

November 26: turkey bark
Farting after eating turkey.
“I let out out a massive turkey bark after Thanksgiving dinner.”

Happy Thanksgiving.
I want to give thanks for being born into a country where I am allowed to express dissent, and for being provided a forum to express that dissent on the internet.
I am well aware that born contrarians such as myself are muted, punished, tortured and killed in many countries around the world, and I never forget that the Founders of the USA provided me with the freedom to express my opinions.
Of course, I want to thank those that served and serve our country for giving their all to protect that freedom. Without them, we are nothing.
On a much lesser note (how could it not be?) I want to thank those that create and maintain this blog as well as the commenters for keeping it civil unlike many other sites I have visited.
My goal is always to stimulate intelligent discussion, and I appreciate those that disagree even more than those that agree, it takes two points of view to form excellent debate.
Lastly, my thanks to the Jets players, past and present, that emulate the values discussed above and who all have made it a privilege to root for this team all these years despite the frustration. Mostly, we have won and lost with class, there have been very few true jerks on this team over the years.
Like Ranger fans, Jets fans will truly appreciate the victory when our team eventually hoists the Lombardi Trophy once again.
Now, if we win the next three to get to 7-6 and a few other teams crash and burn and the Colts have clinced by the time they play us and the Falcons can not handle the cold and he Bengals clinch before week 17…………………
To all that expect E Smith to improve the defense ….really?
This change was not done to provide a better player a chance to play. It was done to give a very good player a wake up call that worry about after football…..um after football. Youre 27 years old Kerry. Make some plays wins some rings and the other stuff will come.
Its funny that Edwards and Kerry are now best friends. Edwards came with this (pretty boy) rep from Cleveland and seems to have understood that football comes first since the trade….maybe Kerry will take a page out of his buddies book after the benching.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody….
What is this “thanksgiving”? Only kidding – I’m off for Thanksgiving Dinner round the house of my friend who thinks he’s American right now. One bonus is that I get mine 5 hours earlier than you guys!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you…
I hope Kerry “Hollywood” Rhodes is thankful today about the rare opportunity he’s gotten to earn fortune and fame and learns to focus on what he already has.
“Those who are successful, be always on your guard, success walks hand in hand with failure on Hollywood Boulevard…” Ray Davies
Celluloid Heroes – my choice for the Kinks best tune – very nice post Subwayfare
Subs, thanks for great use of of a great song, appropriated day for a listen and good point on Kerry.
Highly recommend seeing Ray solo on his current tour, he is as great as ever even without the band.
And brother Dave is playing two solo shows after his health woes, so a reunion tour may not be far behind?
As for E Smith, I do not expect it to improve the defense, the coverage will suffer but hard nosed hitting will improve, in the long run he is not the answer. I would like to see Digs get some reps.
Just want to wish all a happy Thanksgiving.
Wait I highly doubt that we will be able to draft Eric Berry. Unless we end up playing worse than expected and just lose out and go 4-12, but I do see us winning 2-3 games.
I see that if Rhodes is traded it would be a draft day trade, and if we can get one of the top-2 safety prospects or close to getting one, we trade Rhodes for a 2nd rounder.
Do we have a fourth round pick? I thought we gave it up in one of the deals. Maybe the Lito deal?
Jeff – I think they will probably end up retaining their 4th. They might have to give it up based on playing time or re-signing Lito, but I don’t think either of those things will happen because they’ve got more to gain from retaining the pick and both situations can be managed.
Thanks Bent, what about Terrance Cody, I would even trade up a little bit to take this kid. He sounds like a young Kris Jenikins to me. What do you think?
Love Cody, but a guy that size always has the potential to eat himself out of the league, of course. I’d be inclined to agree about trading up if the cupboard wasn’t so bare!
Won’t be too bad if we get a 2nd for Kerry, do you really think that we would trade him. That would be a big cap hit wouldn’t it.
In a trade, the cap hit isn’t too bad because some of his guaranteed money is salaries that have yet to be paid, so they pass over to the new team. Cutting him is much worse (even if the uncapped year happens there is likely to be a cap cost in 2011).
Do I think they’ll move him? I would say no, but if the backstage reports are accurate he may have worn out his welcome.
The best thing for everyone would be for things to work themselves out, so I’m hoping for that.
