Link: Girardi helps Sanchez

Ever since injuring his knee injury Sunday (and of course numerous occasions before that incident), the Jets organization has begged Mark Sanchez to learn the art of sliding to save himself from potential harm, a technique he hasn’t really warmed up to and Ryan who now sits in on offensive meetings decided to fix the problem. What does he do? He calls in Yankees manager Joe Girardi to help Sanchez save himself.

The education of Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez continued today in practice with Yankees manager Joe Girardi stopping by to teach him the art of sliding.

Sanchez, who injured his left knee against the Panthers on a hit by cornerback Richard Marshall, has been reluctant to slide despite repeated pleas from the organization. On Monday, coach Rex Ryan stressed the point to Sanchez in a team meeting.

“I want to make sure we do everything in our power to provide him with the best tools,” said Ryan. “He’s the face of our franchise. We have to keep him healthy.”

It is all part of the learning process I get it but this is something he should have been aware of from day one knowing that a lot was expected from him in the future and protecting himself is a critical part of that future. Hopefully Sanchez will use his new knowledge to stay healthy (now if there was only something we could do for those turnovers).

Nice post, I just read this article from the SportsSpyder bar here.

Two things I noticed in the notes of this article: one was something I noticed in the game and grew worried about, the second note is just nice to hear:

“Ryan said he spoke to WR Braylon Edwards in no uncertain terms about carrying the football in one hand…Bills DE Aaron Schobel called Jets LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson one of the top three left tackles in the NFL along with Joe Thomas (Browns) and Jake Long (Dolphins)”

Gotta throw Ryan Clady in there as well. But, gotta love it.

It’s nice to see DA BRICK getting some notoriety. Everyone dogs him because he wasn’t a sure-fire HOFer from the get-go, but he has always been able to pass block and has greatly improved his running game. Good for him. I’m happy we have him.

Nice story about Giradi coming to practice…. a little bonus for the rare Yankee/Jet fans

Always have been a defender of Brick…go look at the 2006 draft. Tell me who Jet fans would take over him in the top 10? maybe M Williams who went #1 anyway.

Good thing they didn’t bring in Jerry Manuel…..Hey, maybe if they did, Leon and Jenkins would still be playing right now ;)

    hahaha…nice one.

Still think that Tiger story is hysterical. All speculation. No facts. I’ll believe the Judge, who had no evidence to issue a warrant. I feel ashamed I actually read TMZ. But I just couldn’t help but laugh when after all the attention they gave to the story, it turned out to be just a $164 ticket…thats it. couldn’t happen to a more perfect website. But they got me, I followed them.

Girardi’s presence is the closest the Jets have been to a championship in 40 years… Damn… we need to win soon.
