He wants to the next Joe Namath — bad knees and all.

Right MS. It was a good hustle play and Rex is out of line. I’ll take that over a Rhodes “ole” tackle any day.
-
I think we want him sliding most of the time, and though that situation did not call for it, it unfortunately was the first and only time he ran the ball, following a week where they brought in Joe Girardi to teach him how to slide and probably drilled it in his head that he must slide from now on to avoid injury.
Poor luck, but hopefully it’s a sprain and the 10 days and knee brace and warm Tampa weather will do him well, and he can remain ok during our 10 game winning streak!

think Rex was a little overboard with his attitude about Sanchez all of us wanted to see him dive for the first down imagine they go to the super bowl one day and he slides and is short and they loose the game,he will then be made for him not going head first .remember elway in the SB against green bay the hit he took trying to get first down at the 1 yard line at 38 years old .Sanchez is just telling all of us that he,s a winner he will be ok he walked of the field good sign

And GGN and anyone else who is rooting for Miami should think about what they are wishing for. Miami wins and they stay ahead of us. Pats lose and they are still 1.5 games ahead of us. I don’t see the Pats losing two of their last four after this week, and finishing the season 3-5 after the 6-2 start, and we would have to run the table to pass them too. Concede the division to NE, knock Miami behind us in the wild card, and hope all the wild card teams collapse, and maybe even four of the five lose 8 games and we sneak in even with a loss to Indy. That’s likelier than NE losing all three of their remaining road games.

i dont think rex was out of line….i think he was a little uspet and worried that he may not have his franchise qb….rex is a very emotional guy…and i think that was more frustration then him actually being mad at mark…
i wouldn’t look to much into rex’s postgame conference
and where all the people that wanted to trade TJ?
i say we sign him an extension…he is the heart and soul of our offense he is an amazing leader and grind it out rex ryan guy

Just wanted to point out that Shonn Greene had a good game too, and often Jones was off the field for almost an entire drives worth of plays.

The larger question is why the Jets drafted Sanchez, knowing his history of weak knees and that an injury could end his career at any moment. I mean if you have crappy knees and you are only 22 years old, they ain’t gonna get better with more abuse, folks. Duh.

i dont think sancchez hurt himself on that dive actually…. they kept saying the turf there was “sticky”… and it did look like crap… i bet he just twisted his knee a bit on one of the next 2 plays b/c his cleats got stuck for a sec…. it can happen that easily…
anyone else notice the donna rhodes shoulder tackle early?? even bob papa and millen (who are brutal) noticed and made a comment that plays like that get you back on the bench real fast…
also on the marshawn lynch td rhodes blitzed from the weak side and gave up on the play a bit early!!!! a real safety would have made an attempt at tackling his feet from behind…. watch it again u will notice!!!
donna rhodes…….

Ed L – I completely agree RE: TJ. funny how all the TJ detractors suddenly disappear after Leon goes down and he continues to pile up stats. More importantly, he is taking Greene under his wing and teaching him how to be a pro.
I hope Tanny either extends him, or at least guarantees his 2010, so TJ can be secure he has at least one more payday coming to him

One note on Chrebet, he should try practicing what he preaches.
I and a number of freinds attended a meaningless hoops game in the middle of winter because Hofstra was inducting him (and others) into the schools sports HOF.
He did not show.

Cimini says may be season over for Sanchez, concern may be torn miniscus?
That turf was an embarassment to the NFL.
I dont care how much Toronto is paying the Bills there should never be another game on that substandard field, whethar this had anything to do with his injury or not.
-
also – i think people rooting for the dolphins are a little delusional. i hate to break it to you but the pats wont go 2-5 down the stretch. carolina and buffalo are 2 wins, and you have to figure they will win at least 1 from miami, jax or houston. i will be rooting for the pats this weekend

shefter is saying PCL sprain, and he would able to play if he could handle the pain. although i cant see how anyone could know for sure until they do an MRI
-
Tim Graham says it’s a pcl sprain
-
PS – diving head first was the absolute right move, Rex is wrong.
I understand the frustration at losing his QB but the circumstance warranted the dive, and this is not the type of injury that you would expect to occur from diving head first anyway.
If this knee was going to give out it was going to happen eventually anyway and in fact might be more likely if he slid knee first.

Ironic that TJs future, much like Leon’s is tied to the CBA.
If there is no CBA and no capped year, my guess is they do nothing with TJ and just pay him the bonus as insurance that Leon does not come back strong and because they can afford to get the last drop out of him.
If there is a CBA and a cap, then they will let him go because it is not worth putting that much $ into a 32 year old RB.
And, I will be completely shocked if TJ gets a new deal.
But if we could schedule 16 games against Buffalo, I’d offer him a five year deal :-) He sure has dominated them.

Great point WOJF, diving head first on that particular play was safer for his knee than sliding on turf, where his knee could buckle. In hindsight, the less likely event occurred, but you can’t get upset when that happens, espeically when it may have helped win the game.
-
At this rate Sanchez will indeed be a superstar – in the Special Olympics! The knucklehead here is the Jet’s Organization who paid for damaged goods. How come nobody is asking these tough questions? Because it’s easier to just keep talking about the slide vs the dive. I pray I’m wrong.

Klecko-
I noticed Rhodes gave up on the Lynch touchdown run as well and was very dissapointed. Everyone talks about his range and speed, makes you believe he could have tripped up Lynch behind the line of scrimmage, but he just gave up.
-
nice pickup norcal….
i was watching with a group of people, and when i saw the replays i was screaming “look at that loser he gave up!”.
assume you also noticed the weak shoulder tackle and the millen and popa comment about how plays like that could put him on the bench again.
meanwhile i guess sanchez did hurt himself on that dive….but christ if that dive can hurt you then the league needs to look at that turf…..it looked thin and cement like on tv thats for sure.

I don’t think we want Sanchez sliding in that situation. If he slides than he doesn’t get the first down. We want him to slide once he gets the first down or if he isn’t going to make it. I’ll take a guy who wants to get the first down over the cautious guy who doesn’t want the contact.
