Well, we were all witness to greatness last night … I mean other than MTV’s new trainwreck Jersey Shore, of course.
The greatness came in the form of Terrell Owens’s marooning on Revis Island. Oh, this island has a shore too, but last night it sure looked like a cold desolate wasteland.
Terrell Owens: 9 Targets / 3 Receptions / 31 yards / 0 TDs
Darrelle Revis: 4 Tackles / 5 Passes Defensed / 1 INT
While Terrell Owens was all smiles to the press on Wednesday and fleece-lined bomber hats during his arrival at the stadium T.O.’s contingent invite for Darrelle to his birthday party in NYC this coming weekend after his touchdown, never came. Hey T.O., I’m sure Darrelle is CRUSHED.
For as nice as the interception was, five passes defensed in one game is an amazing statistic. For as many times as he had his hand on the football last night, you knew it was a matter of time before he’d intercept a pass, and it came right before the end of the game. On the year, Revis now has 28 passes defensed so far. That’s seven better than the next two best defensive backs in the league: Darren Sharper and Leon Hall.
The best part about Revis’s game is that just boils down to production. No trash talk, just quiet confidence and taking care of business. I like that Rex Ryan brought some bluster to this team … it needed a shake up … but when you get down to it, the quiet and confident Revis is looking a lot better than a certain other secondary player who seems to have lost the use of his arms.

Revis is starting to talk a little more trash, which I like. He’s still pretty quiet though, and you can tell he was angry about the way TO was talking before the game.
Did anyone see him throw TO out of bounds on that 1 run play?
-
JR,
Saw it. Loved it. TO was baiting him all game, and Revis wouldn’t get involved in the extracurriculars but handled TO legally and emphatically. That play where he just tossed TO is going to be shown a lot when they talk about his performance this week.
-
Where can I get a video of that??
I said it earlier this week and ill say it again, Darrelle Revis is, in my opinion, the most dominant player the Jets have ever had
-
Didnt get to see the game but just love knowing that Revis effing owned another WR.
Got to give Mangini alittle credit for trading up to get the best defensive player in the game.
Remember when dumb Giants fans were saying A ross was better….lol
-
Hah, I remember the Ross/Revis debate that year, what a joke that was in hindsight. And Drew, have you been sipping from Hanks thermos? Giving credit to Mangini for trading up? Haha joking but that is definitely something he would love to pin on Mangini.
-
Ive always given Mangini credit for that. He’s a defensive backs coach and he knows talent when it comes to cornerback. We owe Mangini for trading up for Hell Relle.
-
JR, yea i like that about revis too, he is starting to come out his shell so to speak…owens and revis were getting physical all night and i loved it!! but at the end revis got the best out of it, the best corner in the nfl! and lito is playing very well, hopefully he stays healthy the rest of the way and shows we should keep him next year!
rhodes needs to get traded for picks! get berry or mays to replace him, we got our line of scrimmage saftey, actually we got two of them who are playing well in smith and leonard! so i say trade rhodes for draft picks, get berry or mays in the first round, and the rest of picks for d-lin and o-line depth! what u guys think?

Sounds good to be

JesusRevis,
Check out the last 40 seconds of this Youtube clip – It has the Revis hit on TO that you’re looking for, as well as TO making excuses for why he got completely shut down by Revis this year….Twice!
-
well jesusrevis… i agree with you 100% with revis but mangini did screw us over with gholston…mmmmm…..
-
i would rather have an elite pass rusher than another stud in the secondary. you saw last night after one of the bills starting OL went down (their OL was already thin), when the pass rush is working balls are just thrown up for grabs. we should have had 4 INTs that game, if not for drops.
if we can get healthy, we are stacked in the secondary – revis, lito, lowery, strick, rhodes, leonhard and smith. plus another year or improvement for ihedibo and cole. our secondary could be really scary if the pass rush improves
-
I dont really think Revis is quite at all. Sure to the press he doesn’t say anything jackassery like the Pace, Rhodes, Scott, Rex, etc. etc. etc. But on the field he is non-stop jawing at the other wideouts about how he is abusing them.
-
jet fans tend to overestimate the talent of jet players. i would cringe when jet fans would pump up rhodes and vilma. but not revis. revis is the real deal. he’s not a figment of the jet fan imagination!
-
I said this in an earlier thread, but if next year is uncapped, that’d be the time to lock up our lockdown corner with a long-term deal. Give him his $$$ up front when there’s room to pay him because when it comes time for his next contract, he’s going to get the biggest one for a CB in the history of the NFL.
Just let it be from the Jets!

WozzyBEar,
thanks buddy

Revis is the best corner in the game. He has clearly passed Nmadi this year. Five passes deflected is incredible. He almost had like 4 picks, but I was happy to see him get one in the end.
Harris is quietly becoming an incredible player. He has probably been the Jets most consistent player this year. Him and Revis should anchor this defense for a long time.
Shaun Ellis is quietly having an awesome season as well. That sack on the first play of the Bills last series was sick. He has 6.5 sacks and it doesn’t seem like age affects him at all. I was really worried about replacing him in the offseason, but now I think he could go another couple years.
Kerry Rhodes had an awful game. It doesn’t even seem like he wants to play. That was disgraceful when he passed up a big hit on Lynch and barely even touched him. The only other time I saw him was when he gave up the 15 yard catch to Owens. Granted, no saftey can cover T.O., but Rhodes is going to really have to step up him game if he wants to get his starting job back. I haven’t seen Smith pass up a hit.

F Mangini, give credit to TY LAW. Look it up.
-
“On the year, Revis now has 28 passes defensed so far. That’s seven better than the next two best defensive backs in the league: Darren Sharper and Leon Hall.”
What makes the above even more impressive is that teams have limited throws to his side of the field.
-
Revis even looks better (which is almost impossible) the 2nd time around watching the game.
-
Matt- Ty Law told us to hire Mangini. Look that up
-
Marooning on Revis Island…Wonder where I’ve seen that before?
-
Revis is just awesome to watch. He’s the best DB that I’ve seen play in New York. How about kudos to Rex for letting Revis play on that island…a key to a good coach is to challenge your best players and goad them into greatness. Revis was good last year, he’s an All-Pro this season.
-
in all seriousness, has a CB ever faced so much talent in one year? When looking at elite WR faced by years end the list is ridiculous:
(not in order obviously)
Randy Moss x 2
Terrell Owens x 2
Andre Johnson
Chad OchoCinco
Roddy White
Reggie Wayne
Marques Colston
Steve Smith -
i love seeing owens flop even his arms just went limp lol. rhodes is terrible hes never been physical this isnt his type of defense i think hes gone this after the season. i havent seen a bigger woman as a safety in the league before hes affraid to hit anybody lineman qb wr rd it dont matter
-
Hit the Rhodes. He won’t be back.
-
we’re going to be paying Revis a boatload of money. and we have to
-
Brendan, JR, Drew
The issue of Mangini was never his ability to spot young talent. The issue is he should not be leading an NFL team on Sundays.
The guy is a position coach at best who really should be in the scouting/personnel dept.
If Hank would just acknowledge that he is a terrible coach, Im sure we all wouldnt have a problem saying that Mangini can help a team in the player personnel dept.
However, as we all know, the madness just continues
-
Is there a reocrd for most passes defended/deflected in a season?? He pretty much just beat every DB from last year in that statistic (27 top) and could come close to an impressive feat albeit
-
im going to pull out an obscure reference here but i think its fitting. the soviet national hockey team back in the cold war days, the players never said a word (siberia i suppose if they did). all they did was crush their opponents. i like that. walk silently and carry a big stick. revis the man.

Sanchez has a PCL sprain doesnt look that serious
