by Bassett on December 8th, 2009 at 5:36 pm

Here’s a quick look at the new New Meadowlands Stadium via today’s joint Jets and Giants ceremony to roll out the turf of the new field. The clip features soundbites from Corey Webster, Nick Mangold, Woody Johnson and John Mara.

Lmaoooo my friend worked o the stadium and he told me a little inside info….. Notice the color of the seats are diff shades of gray, the reason is both jets and giants expect alot of empty seat this year and the shades of gray makes the stadium look full on tv. Even if you look at the stadium with noone in it, looks packed if you glimps at it don’t it

  2. avatar levi says:

sorry off topic here but does anyone recommend a site to buy Jets gear?

  3. they should have built a dome

  4. avatar JayM says:

    What happened to the roof?

  5. avatar chris says:

Manny, totally untrue. The basis of the gray coloring of the seats is for the look of a neutral site that does not favor either Jets or Giant colors.

  6. avatar Manny fresh says:

Chris, but why is it all deff shades of gray and not just one gray color…. Think about it the seat are all like this…. Dark gray light gray lightergray then dark ect… It’s to give the illusion that it’s a packed house

  7. avatar greg sec 130 says:

Manny, neutral colors will be used throughout the stadium, especially grey, because lights and interchangeable panels will be used to highlight whether the Giants or Jets are at home. Grey works best when refracting light, something your construction friend may not be aware of. If anything, when lit up the grey seats may actually have the reverse effect.

  8. avatar EastSide says:

nah manny, they just wanted everyone to feel like their seat is personal and unique- thus justifying PSLs and making them worthwhile.

  9. avatar jadden says:

Why would they put a dome? The Winds around that area is what made it special.Plus we lose a home filed advantage whenever an dome team like ATL or DET has to play us in late december

  10. avatar Kirk the Jerk says:

Someone needs to tell Mangold that he looks like Chewbacca in that video

  11. i’ll tell you why they need a dome b/c sanchez sucks in the cold

  12. avatar NamVetJet says:

    JayM-LOL

  13. avatar AKA...Drew says:

    Funny story

My boy just called me telling me Mark Sanchez just walked into his steakhouse in Rariton for dinner…..He sounded like a schoolgirl meeting Brad Pitt……lol

BTW….Char is the place. Great joint for a Jersey steak.

  14. avatar TimNC says:

JetBlue Stadium! Hell yeah, it was meant to be….

  15. avatar Tos9987 says:

I think it looks awsome . Cant wait for next year

  16. avatar Formerly Section 108 says:

I’m not saying Manny and/or his construction friend are 100% correct. But the different shades of grey totally give the illusion of filled seats. Whether that was intentional or not is the argument… To me though, the funniest thing I’ve seen was an artist’s rendering of the new luxury suites at the new stadium. It was part of an email come on to buy PSL seats. In the rendering, you have a guy in a suit reading the Wall Street Journal in the foreground, while other “Jets fans,” also wearing suit jackets, sit on couches talking while totally ignoring the game being shown on a huge plasma TV behind them! Yes. That is the image Woody is using to try and sell luxury suites… I couldn’t give my seats away quick enough!

  17. avatar GREENBLOOD says:

Must Love Mr WOODS. I dumped on him plenty, but the man is a man’s man and a gentleman. Best owner in the league !

  18. avatar Andy says:

Hey all I know is that the new stadium looks great. I cant wait. I just hope I will be able to get tickets for a game. I doubt it. I’ll have to be patient.

  19. avatar Jeff says:

Jesus Mangold. That is quite a beard you have, and what a mane of hair. Makes him look like Mufasa from the Lion King!

  20. avatar Ny13 says:

Every body gets rained on unless your in a box. My seats were in 243 and covered. This is a ripoff and a step back. Games here will suck *ss.

  21. avatar BigKatFan says:

i kinda thought this post’s title hinted a James Ihedigbo reference. i guess not.

  22. avatar Jay says:

this is absurd that we are again, shraring a stadium with the enemy, its an awful idea, and i remember the years when we were so close to being in our own staduim finally, ans now we will forever be in buisness with this team….it is pathetic and it is one of the reasons this team will fail and i hate to say that really i do becuase i love the jets

  23. avatar Jets = Misery says:

The Giants have won since the Jets moved into Giants stadium. I’m just glad it’s really a neutral field now, and not just Giants Stadium.

  24. avatar manny fresh says:

true or not…. I think it looks great! sad that i cant buy the ticket due to psl’s :(

  25. avatar Dave says:

    Hahahahahahha. Mangold looks so ridiculous.

  26. avatar kc. says:

the building looks AMAZING!!…and as far as MANGOLD,as long as he stays healthy and keeps playing the way he PLAYS,he could look like F-ING SASQUATCH for all I care.

  27. avatar greg sec 130 says:

That is hilarious, and a good catch. Nevertheless, it only makes me laugh at those who are interested in those suites, not give my seats away. I won’t give up the game day experience because of the people you can’t see or hear in their suites anyway.

  28. avatar Brendan says:

    Jay,

The Giants aren’t “the enemy”. Last time I checked we play them once every four years. Now that we aren’t going to be playing at “Giants Stadium” the Giants fans will have nothing to talk about.

As for Mangold, he can do whatever he wants. Grow so much facial hair he looks like one of those wolfmen guys from Latin America for all I care, just keep being the best center in football.

  29. avatar greg sec 130 says:

Yeah, I guess next year I’ll change my name here to greg sec 336

  30. avatar The Iron Marshal says:

Maybe it’s because I moved away from my hometown digs (Washington Heights) in Manhattan at a young age, but I never could understand this Jets-Giants thing that some people make like it’s the Mets & Yanks.

I’m a Jets fan 4-ever, going on 42 years and counting now, and will die bleeding green’n'white. Am also a New Yorker, definitely a blue collar guy, and can identify with the Big Blue. Loved Parcells, loved the Maras, loved the big 18 wins-one-GIANT-Loss upset over the pats.

My favorite three teams in the NFL: The Jets; the Giants (save when they play my guys, of course)… and whoever’s playing against the Patriots.

  31. avatar starz31 says:

Iron Marshal, thats what made the Super Bowl so great. Giants vs the Pats and after that great game in week 17, the Giants were the only team that could stop them. Awesome game. I live in Boston, so I’m usually rooting for anyone who plays the Pats, and after dealing with their SB-title run, 2007 was fantastic. It’ll be even sweeter when the Jets one day beat the Pats in the playoffs.

  32. avatar boozer says:

I’m still wondering why the Cowboys were able to add a retractable roof for hundreds of millions of dollars less than the new meadowlands.
