Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum has announced that LB Larry Izzo has been placed on injured reserve. Izzo was brought to the Jets this season from the Patriots, where he was a special teams standout. Izzo had 18 special teams tackles on the season.
In addition to Izzo going to the IR, the Jets have made some other moves of late:
- LB Josh Mauga (6-1/243/Nevada) and C Michael Parenton (6-2/287/Tulane) were both added to the practice squad.
- DT Antonio Garay was signed off the practice squad by the Chargers, who have lost their first two DTs for the season.

Bent,
Bad missed tackle against Miami on Ginn, however, might be most Jets fans’ enduring memory of Izzo.

who is being called up to the 53 man?

I know this may not be the appropriate forum for this, but….
Who wants to see giddy Saints fans, from the deep south, shoot up a Redskin fan’s TV? -
To get off topic a little if we dotn signe braylon, leon, lito n trade rhodes oi do believe we will have 1st pic for braylon(if someone signs him)3rd for lito 3 for leon n possible a 3 or maybe 4 n 5 for rhodes…. Am I the only one who thinks we can truly rebuild the team if we do this 6 possible extra high pics can fill a lot of needs with FA as well

Any word on what happened to Izzo and when?
-
Bent-
I agree. Leon is too valuable as a big play threat. His big play capabilities are too valuable to trade off desptie the risk and besides his value will be at an all time low. we gave up a 3rd and 5th for braylon so as long as he is restricted witht no slaary cap how can we not bring him back? for 5 million a year he has shown that despite his occasional big dropped passes, his blcoking and big play capabiity really complement our offense nicely. Rhodes i think must go but i wouldnt trade him for anything less than a 2 and prob another pick. his value around the league as a playmaking safety in a league devoid of many of them is too valuable to give away for a mid round pick. Lito at a areasonable price would be good but if he wants the 10 mil bonus get him outta here not worth that cash!

I have just been signed to the roster. See you guys in Tampa

Vinny “IcantPASSthe” TESTAVERDE
Wow…. Its nice to know that there is always one guy in the crowd who still chants for Skinny Vinny!!!
-
Too bad I don’t have a memory. If it did I would be looking to see how Antonio Garay does with this big chance.
Sometimes guys on the PS flourish and some times they get in, fail to seal the edge and lose a game.

I hate all yo all

Bent,
Agreed on Izzo. Too bad, the guy plays with a lot of intensity, whether or not he’s top-notch talent, and on specials that’s generally more important. This is a frustrating blow to our ST unit, which has really suffered since we traded away Trusnik as part of the Braylon move.
Since we’re on the subject of practice squad/lesser known jets guys…what happened to Zach Potter (meant in the most literal way…is he on our practice squad?). If I remember correctly, Westerman has been playing decently. Just wondering.
NYJ09: agreed on all fronts re braylon, he’s got the big play ability we need, as sanchez gets better (he will by a ton), the braylon trade will reveal itself as one to our benefit.

Re: Vinny T, last time we played tampa I took my dad, sold my regular seat tix to a friend and and upgraded to 3rd row in the end zone. When Vinny won that game I thought it was one of the most memorable Jets moments ever (we were huge dogs and Vinny was watching CSI and eating noodles with gravy on his couch the week before).

Dave B.
I was at that game too. The Vinny Chant must have been his greatest feeling ever.

I will see you on Sunday…….JETS FAN 4 LIFE Im glad you are a fan. I will be doing autographs after the game.

Sounds more and more like Kerry is a goner after this year
-
MEL31602,
curbyourinthusiasm comment was brutal,
Rhodes is already looking for a career after football which I respect but if Rhodes won’t even tackle Lynch and Welker in division games w/playoff implications he should just retire now and devote all of his time to acting and broadcasting or fashion or modeling or whatever else MOTIVATES him.

RE: the dailynews article
Not sure what it is with these guys…I think it truly must come down to their agents. Maybe I’m naive, but who’s more valuable a player: the one who makes a stink all season when things don’t go their way, or the guy who acts professionally and does his job, then evaluates his worth in the off season if he thinks he doesn’t fit with his current organization?
It’s disappointing to see Kerry reacting to the challenge this way. In my opinion, Ryan’s move wasn’t unwarranted, and was in all likelihood an attempt to light a fire under Mr. Rhodes, and to see Kerry take that match and essentially waver it over his Jets contract… well, it’s not the attitude I expected from a Jet I had admired so much.
To be clear, I’m not against Kerry getting fired up at practice, but these bone-head comments he makes to the media and on his Twitter page. These guys treat their twitter page like it’s a personal diary or something…they are aware that their boss can see what they post, rihgt!?!? If every time my boss annoyed me I walked over to the watercooler and wrote “man, I hate my boss…dave b” i wouldn’t be around too long.

Dave B raises an interesting point about agents causing rumpuses.
Anyone know who is Kerry’s agent. My google search failed to turn anything up besides the fact his 2008 deal was only guaranteed against injury so he may be positioning himself for a get out of town card so he can ask his new team for a guaranteed deal.

For all the criticisms having Izzo on the roster got this year, is it fair to say he actually did a pretty good job? I wonder if Cummings will get to play now?
Mauga is interesting. Played in a 3-4 system in college and has great size, 4.6 speed and was a productive tackler with lots of experience. He had a knee injury in 2007. Parenton was a final cut in camp.
