Nik Sues Braylon

by Weeks on December 19th, 2009 at 7:11 pm

Braylon Edwards has been sued by Nik Pace with whom Edwards had a child with earlier this year. Here is the kicker though, Edwards wanted to be recognized as the father however Pace rejected him and is now suing for $70,000 per month in child support because Georgia isn’t as generous when it comes to child support.

First the troubles in Cleveland, next the dropsies following him to New York and now this … As David Wolf points out Braylon really does not need this on his plate nor do the Jets. There is enough drama in New York as it is.

It’s really disgusting what goes on with all these athletes.
Children with so many different women – it makes me sick.

  2. avatar Bent says:

Dropsies haven’t followed him to New York. He has two unofficially. (16 last year). The Buffalo one was bad, admittedly.

It would be fitting if she dropped the lawsuit.

  3. avatar Johnny Reefer says:

How is this his fault, he wanted to be the dad, she declined.

    now she wants money?

    can somebody say gold digger.

  4. avatar Harvlis says:

    Bent, That was cute.

Bottom line — this is his personal life. Everybody should leave him alone. Anyone who cares about this is hurting. If it affects him on the football field, that is what we should care about.

  5. avatar Zartan says:

    Harvlis,

agreed, Braylon is not high profile and its only a distraction.

  6. avatar Green Lantern says:

WOW Can we say Gold Digger?
Braylon has been there when needed except that one time in Buffalo.. but he did make up for it twice in Buffalo with the TD and the Third and Long catch on the sideline people fail to remember!!!

  7. avatar Harlan Lachman says:

Kewpie to (pass me some) Reefer. She is asking for a monthly allotment that is greater than the salary I have made in any year. I know life in NYC is expensive but…

She may not be cute enough to have won America’s Top Babe but she sure has the balls to play football.

    $70K a month?! that’s insane.

i feel for that kid. when he’s old enough he’ll wonder about why his father isnt in his life and he’ll eventually learn that his mom rejected to have him recognized…but she did have zero problems having him pay a ridiculous amount of child support. that tells you all you need to know about that woman.

  9. avatar bleedsgreen&white says:

unbelievable….hes trying to be a part of his sons life and she wont let him and thats his fault? i hope she looses the case that way she will let him be in his sons life…its sad how women us kids as pawns to get what they want…..go bray go jets….were going streaking…towards a settlement!!!

  10. avatar ridinmywave says:

I feel sorry for braylon man……and knowing the media and some of the ignorant writers they would actually try to spin this into something that HE did wrong……..smh. The B!@#es are triffling nowadays

  11. avatar Dean Barbella says:

Braylon, Catch the Ball, Drop the Chick; and Don’t forget to Wrap it up!

  12. avatar AKA....Drew says:

We can always count of Dean to have a witty word on any matter…..

    As usual…well done Deano!!

  13. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

And how is this Braylons fault for wanting to be the kids dad, paying child support and then the woman sues him because she wants more money than the judge said she should get?

The media will spin anything to make this guy look bad…

Buffalo drop was horrific but he made up for it by turning a short catch into a game changing TD run and by destroying the Buffalo d backs all night as TJ , T Rich and Shonn ran for over 2 bills

  14. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

And my post just repeated what everyone said above me…
    Im shot bro

  15. avatar Joe B. says:

Dude Bassett already posted this a couple days ago. It’s a non-story. The freaking girl is tripping wanting that much per month. It sounds like Braylon is trying to do the right thing and it’s strictly a family issue, so I don’t understand how this possibly affects the Jets. Very strange post all around.

  16. avatar benjam says:

Sounds about right. Braylon sued for paternity in GA to minimize the support payments. Nik brought a case in NY to maximize the payments. Now Braylon has to go up against Raul Felder who is a total badass. At this point, its just about business. Hopefully Braylon will put aside everything and embrace fatherhood. This could be the best thing that ever happened to him.

Nik may not have won America’s Top Model, but when she popped that kid out, she won Set for Life.

Braylon is a good player, but I don’t consider him an elite NFL receiver. I think he’s a top 20 guy. I want him on the Jet next year, but they shouldn’t break the bank to do it. Do you guys think he’s “elite” or just very good?

Off topic: Cowboys 24 Saints 17 8 Min to go. Dallas ball

  18. avatar AKA....Drew says:

Saints just lost….. Are we happy that Indy is the only one left??

  19. avatar Joe B. says:

Drew, this is the downside of Indy beating Jacksonville. While it was nice for us to have Jacksonville lose their 7th, if the Jags had beaten Indy, the Colts would have absolutely nothing to play for. Now, especially with the Saints going down, there’s something for the Colts to play for. It’s why I wasn’t ecstatic with the Jags losing, considering they had to go to New England the next week anyway.

  20. avatar 50 year Jet fan says:

When we beat Atlanta tomorrow, it doest matter who the Colts play in the game. We’re going to show the world our #1 D & the DPOY #1CB Revis.
    Go Jets!

I’m not a lawyer by any means, but I have to think that there is a lawyer amongst my fellow fans. I ask you this:

How can this woman, or any woman for that matter, justify asking for 70k a month towards CHILD support? I emphasize CHILD to distinguish between child and SELF support.

What new born child, that thankfully doesn’t have any birth defects or a major disease, costs any parent(s) $70,000 a month?

A healthy new born baby, whether born into wealth or poverty, needs exactly the same thing: Milk, warmth, a clean diaper, and love. Last time I checked, that doesn’t cost close to the amount she’s asking for.

I’m sure there is at least a shred of logic in this. Is it about supporting a life style that she’s become accustomed to because of Braylon? Even if it is, why is it his responsibility to pay for the way or how SHE wants to live? Shouldn’t he be solely responsible for providing for the baby’s needs?

I know this is a Gold Digger situation, but I don’t see how any Judge would look at this and throw it out after getting halfway through the complaint.

    Lawyers, please explain! Thank you!

Falcons were eliminated with that Cowboy win. With the weather conditions, Ryan and Turner might not play for them.

  23. avatar um says:

Braylon should contact OJ, maybe he will solve his problem for just $70k…lol.

Just messing around of course. But it kinda sickens me that some slut thinks she is entitled to $70k per week.. Like your average person needs that much to raise a kid per year.

Added to the fact she denied him as the father, he should have to pay anything!

  24. avatar um says:

    shouldn’t have to pay anything*

Unless he wants to put money aside for his kid – cause I’m sure if he pays her, his kid wont see the money.

  25. avatar ronnie says:

    Kdbart,
I was going to say the exact same thing.
Considering the horrible weather and the fact that they now have nothing to play for, I can see them sitting both Ryan & Turner.

The punting game will be huge tomorrow, hopefully Weatherford will have a good day.

  26. avatar Trust Me, I'm A Lawyer says:

Just b/c she is asking for $70k/month doesn’t mean she will get it, but when a person makes as much as Braylon, you better believe his kid will be well taken care of financially. It’s all about the best interest of the child in family court. And he can afford it.

As for Braylon the WR – I kinda wish we never made the trade. He hasn’t done squat since the first Miami game. Sure, Sanchez isn’t drew brees, but Braylon isn’t Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss either. He’s good no doubt – I like how physical he is. He likes to lower his shoulder after the catch. Maybe he opens up our running game, maybe he frees up Keller and Cotchery… but bottom line, he has not made plays. I would rather have the draft picks – this year’s draft is loaded.

  27. trade him away…get stuckey back

  28. avatar Shamik says:

Lawyer, (as a future doc, eff you. JK!) In all seriousness, I think Braylon’s not nearly at the level of a Calvin Johnson or a Moss, but he’s definitely at the top of the 2nd tier. I’d keep him for another year at least to get some better chemistry between him and Sanchez. If they still don’t click after a whole summer, then I’d say its time to move on. As per the draft, I’d like to get a pass rusher, a CB that can match up with Welker, and just build depth in the O and D-lines. As long as the Sanchize is healthy and lives up to the hype (and the team stops with the brainfarts) I think we’re going to be a damn fine team next season.

This is ignorant. Our run game has improved dramatically since Braylon arrived. You can’t measure a #1 WR only in terms of catches and yards. The guy prevents defenses from stacking the box and is an awesome blocker. I’d rather have that than a billion catches and yards, especially with a young QB. Also, since his individual numerical production has been low, we’ll likely get him at a much cheaper price than we would’ve if he had to cater to people like you and catch 100 TDs.

It’s no coincidence that our running game has exploded since he came over. Try to see the big picture instead of worrying so much about individual stats.

  30. avatar Joe B. says:

It’s also pretty admirable how much of a good soldier Braylon has been considering how much less he’s targeted here than he was in Cleveland. The guy has been the opposite of everything bad said about him when the trade was made. Now obviously he may just be biting his tongue to get a new contract, but he’s been the consummate professional since we got him. I’m sorry, but unless he asks for an exorbitant deal, anyone who doesn’t think we should extend him is a simpleton.

  31. avatar Ben Nevis says:

There’s no way for any of us to possibly know anything about Braylon E’s personal to be sblt to comment on it with any accuracy at all.

All we can know is what we’ve seen on the field, and I’ve seen enough to say: bring Braylon back next year. Yes, he’s had a couple of bad drops, but he’s also made some outstanding catches with impressive YAC, breaking tackles and dragging defenders with him as he lunges into the end zone. And not only does the threat of his presence open up our run game, stopping opponents from overloading the box (at least when Sanchez and not Clemens is in the game), but he’s also an effective blocker. He’s been an unselfish player, a team guy, and it’s obvious he’s got great athletic ability (the man can LEAP), great talent. This is a player who’s got all you want in a WR, and i think he’s going to continue to develop–just as Sanchez is going to develop. In fact, I think these two–BE and MS– could develop into one of the best combos in the league.

Throw in the already incredible J Co, and over the next season or two this team is going to develop a passing game at least as impressive as its run game. And that’s pretty friggin impressive.

She’s an idiot. And he’s an idiot for procreating with an idiot.
