Gamethread: Jets vs. Falcons 12.20.09

Who: New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons
When: 1:00 P.M. EST
Where: Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
Their Last Meeting: In their previous meeting, the Jets met Michael Vick who threw 3 INT’s however the Jets were unable to stop Vick from running two touchdowns in while Todd Peterson had two FG’s and Chauncey Davis picked up a fumbled for a TD. Needless to say the Jets put themselves in a pickle with Vinny Testaverde at the helm (though Vinny did have a rushing TD) leaving Curtis Martin to score one of the Jets two scores. The Falcons left with a 27-14 victory.

A lot has changed since their matchup in 2005 especially with the trades of John Abraham and Erik Coleman to Atlanta. Though the Jets playoff hopes aren’t favorable a win here would at least place the Jets a step closer to a possible run and with Atlanta’s mounting late season issues the Jets have a good chance to take the win at home.

Whether they [Ryan and Turner] play or not the Jets defense will need to put pressure on Ryan or Redman and shut down Turner, Snelling, etc. Revis will be guarding Roddy White while the Jets will have their eye on Tony Gonzalez. With Sanchez back under center he’ll have to be ready and alert making sure he doesn’t give up the ball to the Falcons defense no fumbles, no INT’s nada (of course when your facing one of the worst passing defense’s this might be a good time to reconnect with Cotchery and Edwards). Meanwhile Thomas Jones will hopefully have the privilege of running over the defense while Jay Feely kicks the extra points against his former team.

This is another winnable game but the Jets need to try and keep their nose clean penalty-wise and not lose focus just take things one step at a time. With that, gather around and get ready to watch the Jets shoot for 8-6. Leave us with your thoughts and comments through the afternoon/evening.

Despite what everyone has been saying, the field looks absolutely great considering what it went through the last 24 hours. Expect to see a lot more passes than what people are letting you on.
Our Outside linebackers and defensive linemen have to do a good job of containing and maintaining the outside against Turner.
Go Jets, Raiders, Bills, Titans, Bears, Chargers.

  2. avatar brian g. says:

btw Ryan and Turner are active for the Falcons

  3. avatar M eazii says:

They are not sure if Ryan is starting though…almost time for kickoff! Sanchez better show he can play well in the cold!

  4. avatar ryan says:

Strahan is such an idiot. He said woodson is a better COVER corner than darrelle revis

  5. avatar BaltimoreJets says:

Due to the games being moved in Baltimore and Philly, I’ll be able to watch this one from home. Come on boys, let’s make next week’s game mean something.

  6. avatar M eazii says:

I have a good feeling that there is going to be an upset in bufallo today!

  7. avatar M eazii says:

Wow did strahan really say that? I thought he knew his football! Guess he don’t

  8. avatar doine says:

    any stream links please anyone?

  9. avatar M eazii says:

Strahan is a jet hater… He just picked the falcons to win over us!

  10. avatar ramble914 says:

Strahan just picked the Falcons for his upset of the day. He is such a tool!

  11. avatar Randy says:

W0w Strahan is so NFC Bias.Darrelle Revis Continues to work his butt of and he continues to get no respect. I am actuallly watching CBS and they had a poll of who was the defensive player of the year and Revis finished last behind D Sharper,E DUMERVIL and C Woodson

Woodson had the most votes and Sharper and DUMERVIL had more votes than Revis :(

  12. avatar jay says:

please Santa all i want is a win today please! go JETS and a ravens, fins, pats,an denver loss.

  13. avatar Randy says:

Strahan is just upset that his Giants are in a worse position than the Jets now that the Cowboys won.

  14. avatar ryan says:

Strahan is a tool he always picks the jets to lose . He’s jus mad the his giants suck nd have the worst d in the league. Anyway let’s win this frickn game.
    J-E-T-S

  15. avatar M eazii says:

Haha that’s probably true randy! Is it me or does the stadium look empty? We need our fans to go make some noise! Oh and Ryan and turner are strating, let’s see how our defense plays! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!

  16. avatar M eazii says:

Wow I can’t believe they throw to rebus way…he wouldve picked that one if it wasn’t for pass interfearence

  17. avatar Tomsect201 says:

Revis is in Roddy White’s head already.

  18. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

I dont get why the Falcons are trying to pick on Revis, Ill take DR all day everyday

  19. avatar M eazii says:

    Revis

    Sorry for the typo

  20. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    hey, a Kerry Rhodes sighting!

  21. avatar M eazii says:

Great play by Harris and Rhodes!

  22. avatar tyrone says:

    DEFENSE

  23. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

DH layed out Matt Ryan and more importanly Kerry Rhodes with a great pass defended getting our D off the field, Ryan and the Falcons are going to be tough but I think our d is up to the challenge

  24. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

I hate FOX football broadcasting they suck!

  25. avatar Dmazz says:

    Sanchez another pick

  26. avatar Joe P says:

for the love of god is he blind

  27. avatar M eazii says:

    OMG!!!! Sanchez cmon mannnnnn

  28. avatar Tomsect201 says:

ball sailed but it was a terrible decision.

  29. avatar Dmazz says:

Its so damn frustrating being this close and knowing theres just no shot with a rookie QB

  30. avatar Dmazz says:

I feel for this Defense – lol

  31. avatar jose garcia says:

SANCHEZ IS SUCH A DUMB PHCK!!! HE HAS 3 WRS ON THE RIGHT AND HE CANT AUDIBLE TO GO RIGHT HE GOES LEFT ON SECOND DOWN. HE DOENST KNOW HOW TO COUNT?

  32. avatar M eazii says:

Scott has tomske that tackle man

  33. avatar Dmazz says:

In fairness we should have just ran the ball 3 times

  34. avatar tyrone says:

no worry we will overcome this

  35. avatar jose garcia says:

    HES Q-BING SO ROBBOTICALLY.

  36. avatar Joe P says:

They need to play conservative today—-first time Mark is playing in these conditions. No need to push the envelope. Let your D and running game win the game for you.

  37. avatar tyrone says:

the defense will get us a score today

  38. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Just a bad throw by Sanchez, we can live with one but Bart Scott has to make that tackle, I defend him alot but he has to try and wrap him up rather than go for the kill shot. That is a situation where being smart is better than being a hero.

Chez has his one bad throw, we cant win if he continues to be inept

  39. avatar M eazii says:

Huge goal line stand! What a defense we have!

  40. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Our Def is great, goal line stand, Sanchez has to be better and we can win this game

  41. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    Pouha with the stuff!

  42. avatar Joe B. says:

    Terrific goal line stand.

  43. avatar Joe P says:

    nice stand

  44. avatar Dmazz says:

DONT F UP SANCHEZ OR ITS YOUR ASS

  45. avatar jose garcia says:

ATLANTA IS TRYING TO RUN UP THE MIDDLE AGAINST THE JETS.. ITS NOT WRKING!!

  46. avatar tyrone says:

defense will control this game we need to run up there throats.

  47. avatar tyrone says:

if sanchez is off i will go with clemons and run small pass

  48. avatar Joe P says:

Schotty needs to call the right game for the conditions

  49. avatar Joe B. says:

Let’s get this run game going. TJ, stop tripping over your own feet.

  50. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Tyrone- I love ya man, always the most positive Jet fan, you keep me sane sometimes during these games

Not for nothing, Schotty has to step it up here, every play he called on that first series was sniffed out. I hated every play he called starting with the first down draw that lost yards

  51. avatar AKA Jack says:

If there are 3 receivers on a play, it is up to Sanchez to pick the right one. The right one not being the one being doubled covered.

  52. avatar ridinmywave says:

smh……..im gonna hold my tongue regarding this sanchez until after a couple more drives……but wtf man

  53. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    C’mon O Line!!!

  54. avatar Joe B. says:

This crowd is a joke. I understand it snowed, but c’mon people. A little energy? It sounds like a preseason game.

  55. avatar ridinmywave says:

its always the same story….all flash no smarts(which is most important)

  56. avatar Dmazz says:

    This is torture

  57. avatar ridinmywave says:

    Joe……at least their there, lol.

  58. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Hartstock is a penalty waiting to happen every time he is on the field.

There is nothing there on offense right now, Schotty better figure it out quick

  59. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

I don’t feel good about this game, specifically our offense in this weather

  60. avatar AKA Jack says:

That was actually smart. Take the sack and don’t force the pass. Take the punt and let the D get field position back.

  61. avatar tyrone says:

one thing ive notice about Sanchez hes a slow starter as the game goes on he gets better hes learning these new defenses hes a rookie

  62. avatar sleeps says:

why do we never run easy passes for him on early downs. Giveme a slant orrrr a screen for christ sake

  63. avatar Joe B. says:

We’re gonna wear out our defense if we don’t start moving the ball.

  64. avatar joey says:

forget about throwing the ball, maybe we should just run it the whole game,we cant have our defense on the field the whole game

  65. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    That’s a great tackle Bart!

  66. avatar joey says:

why this offense has no screen plays at all,i dont think we had more than 5 all year, brian schitty is pathetic at calling plays,he has to go,period,im soo sick of his play calling

  67. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Jack- dont get it twisted, Im not blaming Schotty, all Im saying is we need him to have a good game calling the shots

  68. avatar joey says:

we better score a touchdown or else fire schitty on the spot

  69. avatar jose garcia says:

SPECIALS TEAM HAS TO MAKE A PLAY.

  70. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

Come on… the eagles? Stupid broadcaster!!

Thats twice now… before he called Atlanta “Miami”.

  71. avatar Joe P says:

I think both defenses will be exhausted if this keeps up

  72. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

    YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  73. avatar david says:

    Lets see Clemens do that!!!

  74. avatar joey says:

thats what i was talking about

  75. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

    TD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. avatar tyrone says:

    SHANCHIZE WOW

  77. avatar ridinmywave says:

i dont think people realize how filthy our defense is……..considering how much Sanchez has turned the ball over throughout the season and how it has always seemed to equate into points for the opposition….with better ball security and not always giving up gield position with the picks…….our defenses numbers (pts. allowed, ypg etc.) would be even more ridiculous

  78. avatar AKA Jack says:

Oh gosh! Schotty sucks at play calling and Sanchez can’t throw!

  79. avatar M eazii says:

    Woooooo! What a playyyyy

  80. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

HOW YOU LIKE SCHOTTY NOW !!!!! WOOT WOOT

  81. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

DIDNT DROP THAT ONE!!!!! BRAY BRAY!!!! U DA MAN!!! DIME BY CHEZ!!! GREAT JOB SCHOTTY!!!!

  82. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Joey has it right. Schitty (nice one) doesn’t dial up to our strengths…As I type this LOOK AT THE GREAT THROW BY SANCHEZ AND EDWARDS MAKING THE CATCH!!!

  83. avatar ridinmywave says:

keep braylon in NY tanni…………….or else i will kill you

  84. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    Pass protection was clutch…

  85. avatar M eazii says:

That was a great play call by schotty

  86. avatar Mark B says:

Nice throw — that is why Mark Sanchez is going to be a pretty decent QB. Eventually he’ll learn to stop throwing INT and the JETS will be okay for a few years.

  87. avatar Joe B. says:

BRAYLON!!! WHERE ARE ALL THE GENIUSES WHO DON’T WANT HIM BACK?!?!?!

  88. avatar WHOO!!! says:

But we all know Schotty had nothing to do with that. He only calls the plays we don’t like.

  89. avatar Joe P says:

Loved the way Edwards watched the ball into his hands.

  90. avatar joey says:

we need a stop now and another long drive and we score

  91. avatar jose garcia says:

BEAT HIM 5 YRDS.. NOT EVEN CLOSE!! FINALLY SOME BREAK AWAY PEED ON THE JETS. WITH HEIGHT OF COURSE.

  92. avatar david says:

I wouldn’t praise schotty for calling a single long ball. Our complaints about Schotty is the rythm of the game and not allowing people to get into a flow.

  93. avatar sleeps says:

every team has simple plays to pick up easy yardage. We seem to always have to make a nice pass for it. Scrrens to rb’s and wr or slants would make this offense better

  94. avatar M eazii says:

    Phins and pats are losing

  95. avatar jon in bk says:

    Defense is looking filthy.

Schott-haters, does he get any credit for that wide open TD?

  96. avatar jose garcia says:

NOW FOR SOME DEFENSE AND WE’LL GET THE WIND BEHIND US IN THE SECOND QUARTER. TIME FOR A CORONA LIGHT!!

  97. avatar Chrebookie says:

    anyone got a streaming link?

  98. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Revis is unreal.

  99. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    Revis for President!!!

  100. avatar Tomsect201 says:

man, why even bother throwing to Roddy today?

  101. avatar ridinmywave says:

im almost annoyed at how good Revis is………wtf is wrong wit this guy?lol

  102. avatar joey says:

revis, the best cover corner in the league, and if you dont like it,eat a hot dog n choke on it.

  103. avatar J-Kay says:

Why is Cotch doing punts? Seems to me like Smith makes much more sense

  104. avatar Joe B. says:

    Revis is king.

  105. avatar jose garcia says:

REVIS PLAYS THE WRS EYES NOT THE NUMBERS.. HE’S UNBELIEVABLE. WHAT A DRAFT. MIGHT BE THE BEST DRAFT PICK EVER MAE BY THE JETS. ANYONE ELSE? ANYONE?

  106. avatar doine says:

    http://www.justin.tv//stooge03

    steam link,

    what a play by revis.

i think i love that man

  107. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Dude I kill Schotty but he dialed up a nice designed, good play. He did a good job and I give credit where its due, regardless of what I feel personally.

Darelle is just completely on another level than any other CB in the league. He does everything, its amazing to watch him

  108. avatar jose garcia says:

    AND THE RUNNING GAME CONTINUES.

  109. avatar tyrone says:

    we look good

  110. avatar david says:

Please. Why would we judge schotty on one play?

Same as sanchez, we shouldn’t judge him on one interception.

  111. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Wave with some zingers! Good job my friend

  112. avatar Mia-Ten says:

Titans just recovered a Dolphins fumble to prevent a score.

A win today could mean a whole lot…

  113. avatar Chrebookie says:

    thanks doine

  114. avatar Joe P says:

What is amazing is how close he plays the WR without drawing penalties.

  115. avatar Joe B. says:

We have to start moving these chains, c’mon Mark.

  116. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

Woodhead sucks, everytime he’s in .. its never any good.. hopefully it will end this game.. i just don’t see it happening

  117. avatar Joe P says:

You gotta hit that pass Sanchez

  118. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

This is the rookie’s problem, trying not to throw near a defender…

  119. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    you CAN’T throw at him!

  120. avatar AKA Jack says:

Revis again. Why in hell would you throw at him?

  121. avatar Joe B. says:

KERRY RHODES. He’s playing his balls off. Major respect.

  122. avatar Joe P says:

    Nice play by Rhodes

  123. avatar joey says:

here is the jest on offense, run on first, run on second, then throw on third,so pathetic and predictable

  124. avatar M eazii says:

Revis is a monsterrrr! If Harris doesn’t dive then that’s a pick for him

  125. avatar AKA Jack says:

This defense is silly good. Most fun I have had watching this team in a long time.

  126. avatar jose garcia says:

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT INTO FOR REVIS. WAT AN INTO THAT COULDVE BEEN. HIGHLIGHT MATERIAL!! IT WOULDVE BEEN AS GOOD AS THE HAWAIIN FROM PITTSBURGH EARLY THIS YEAR.

  127. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

Man, Kerry Rhodes is playing great, specifically guarding Tony

  128. avatar Joe P says:

The defense is definitely shortening the field for the offense.

  129. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

I get nervous every time Cotch returns a punt…Why not use Woodhead for punt returns?!?

  130. avatar RJ in Fla says:

I agree Jack….just watching the defense is worth the price of admission!

  131. avatar joey says:

if we dont score on this drive,it will be a long day

  132. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Thank you O line! When there’s a hole, TJ can barrel it through…

  133. avatar Joe B. says:

    10-3 Titans.

  134. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    I think that’s our first first down…

  135. avatar Joe P says:

    Ok TJ is warmed up

  136. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Woodhead stopped on the route, he should have came back to the ball but he just sat down, you have to attack the ball on that route in the flat toward the sideline, thats how pick sixs happen

Schotty please just go with TJ, Shonn and go to Bray Bray, Cotch and Keller through the air, go with the guys who got us here

  137. avatar joey says:

we should have thrown on that first down

  138. avatar Joe B. says:

Sanchez is so good at throwing on the run. It doesn’t hurt that Cotch has velcro hands.

  139. avatar WHOO!! says:

    This game kind of rules.

  140. avatar M eazii says:

Sanchez just made a great throw to cotchery

  141. avatar jose garcia says:

    LETS JUST RUN IT IN..

  142. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Woodhead had a nice block but I hope he saw what J Co did on that ball, go up and get it, dont wait for it.

Chez at his best, move the pocket, buy some time, find your guy

  143. avatar ridinmywave says:

    oooooooooo….almost!

  144. avatar Chrebookie says:

Brady’s knee just got hit pretty good

  145. avatar Mark B says:

Dont like the OC but that was a very well-designed play to BE for the first.

  146. avatar ridinmywave says:

i hope he looks for edwars alot this game

  147. avatar Joe P says:

good play calling on this drive—nice short easy passes are working

  148. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

I am loving watching Chez and Bray Bray develop that chemistry, that classic timing route between two guys who are locked in with each other.

Reminds me of Eli and Plax

  149. avatar M eazii says:

Schotty is calling a good game so far… We need to score on this drive

  150. avatar ridinmywave says:

anybody know if Chris Houston is playing for the falcons today?…..if he is….id advise Sanchez to throw at him ALL day….he’s the worst…either a TD or penalty waiting to happen, lol.

  151. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    Fade to Cotch! C’mon!

  152. avatar Joe P says:

I’ll take the 3—-love to see the time of possesion right now

  153. avatar ridinmywave says:

    …………why?

  154. avatar Joe B. says:

    Jesus Christ. Only us.

  155. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    KC…

  156. avatar M eazii says:

    Wow Clemens u efffin bum!

  157. avatar .... says:

Kellen Clemens = worse than Weatherford?

Is Tont Romo available to hold?

  158. avatar doine says:

    clemens you utter useless prat

  159. avatar jose garcia says:

UNBELIEVABLE!!! TOTALLY. CNT EVEN GET THREE!!!

  160. avatar Chrebookie says:

    Clemens….

  161. avatar joey says:

kc just sux all over, wow, man he sux

  162. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Good job KC, thank you for four years of mediocrity

  163. avatar hangar says:

he can’t even hold the ball!!!

  164. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

Wow, I really effing hate Kellen Clemens, hah. He is such a turd beyond belief

  165. avatar tyrone says:

well i hope those 3 pts dont hurt us

  166. avatar J-Kay says:

….and Kellen Clemens invents a new way to get sacked.

  167. avatar James in TN says:

Cut Clemnens Cut Clemens CUT THAT MF!!!!!!!

  168. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

    CAN CLEMENS NOW!!!

  169. avatar JesusRevis says:

    All you Danny Woodhead lovers:

Get this guy off the field, he is an embarassment.

    Clemens is a joke too

  170. avatar James in TN says:

SCHITTY SHOULD HAVE CALLED A BOOT LEG ON 3RD DOWN ALL YOU SCHITTY SUPPORTERS PLEASE STAND UP. THAT JOKE WILL BE GONE.

  171. avatar ridinmywave says:

sooooooo…………how bout that Avatar movie guys?lol

  172. avatar Joe P says:

KC doesn’t feel right unless he gets sacked during a game.

  173. avatar jetsrdone says:

Eddie DiGio, mediocrity?? You’re giving Clemens way too much credit……

  174. avatar tyrone says:

hey that drive killed alot of the 2nd qter our defense will score

  175. avatar Joe B. says:

How many interceptions can one team bobble?

  176. avatar ridinmywave says:

i think the ball smacked Leonhard so hard in his face he got dazed

  177. avatar M eazii says:

O boy that a pick six for you jimmy!

  178. avatar tyrone says:

    DEFENSE RULE THIS GAME

  179. avatar ... says:

Is the ball coated in Astroglide?

  180. avatar joey says:

thank god we are playing the falcons

  181. avatar tyrone says:

    what a f…….g kick

  182. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

jetsrdone- yea I didnt want to offend the three members of the KC fan club, he sucks and I dont want him on the team next year

  183. avatar Joe B. says:

I now agree, Cotch should not be returning kicks. He lacks the vertical speed and shiftiness of Brad Smith. I love the guy as a receiver, but I’m sick of watching him run sideways on punt returns.

  184. avatar AKA Jack says:

    James in TN-

How exactly did the Jets get to the goal line? Was someone else calling the plays?

  185. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

But Joey, our O makes their D look pretty awesome…

  186. avatar tyrone says:

    jets will get td now

  187. avatar Joe P says:

Cotch has the sure hands but is not that good at running after the catch—you see what a special ability it is running back punts.

  188. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Jesus Revis

I agree 10000000% Woodhead is NOT a professional football player

  189. avatar M eazii says:

Our D has had too many misses oppurtunities, they have to score 1!

  190. avatar Dmazz says:

    Another Pick

  191. avatar Chrebookie says:

nice to see sanchez doing exactly what he’s not supposed to be doing. why throw that?

  192. avatar doine says:

    nice throw sanchez

  193. avatar ridinmywave says:

    ……..why?……………why?

  194. avatar Joe B. says:

This defense deserves better than this nonsense. Two interceptions and a bobbled snap on a 19-yard FG. What a joke.

  195. avatar joey says:

ops,its not looking good for us,the same ol jets, miami loses and we lose

  196. avatar jon in bk says:

    Jesus. Huge momentum swing.

Great drive ends up with 0 points, and then Sanchez comes out and throws a bad pick.

  197. avatar ... says:

Let’s watch and see what happens when we take an otherwise really good football team and give all of their quarterbacks lobotomies. Shall we?

  198. avatar ridinmywave says:

u pump fake to throw away from your initial read sanchez…..wtf

  199. avatar M eazii says:

    Sanchez your killing us! Ughhhh

Our defense have to stop them AGAINNN cuz of you

  200. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Chez man, Cmon!!!! You have to be smart, he just forced that. Awful man, you are killing our D right now.

He has made some great throws but Braylon was triple covered

  201. avatar tyrone says:

    we need to run

  202. avatar Nick says:

For a professional athleat KC sure is a frikin clutz.

…and I tire of Sanchez continue to make same mistake every ten minutes

  203. avatar boozer says:

Cotch should not be returning punts. He seems to be running backward the whole time.

Arr. Keep it red Sanchez. The only way they lose this game is if Sanchez throws 5 picks.

  204. avatar Mark B says:

For those who wanted us to applaud the OC for one nice bomb, there is a good example of why he is terrible. Six minutes left in the half, your team is winning, your RB is getting warmed up, your defense has been working hard, so you call a play that requires your rookie QB, who leads the league in INT, to throw the ball downfield. Not smart.

  205. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

How is our defense this good without a pass rush?!?

  206. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Its obvious that Chez is our best option at QB but god dang it! I always defend the kid but I have never been so furious at him as I am right now

  207. avatar david says:

Hmm, I wonder if the parking lot was in bad condition and its causing delays in getting to the stadium? They said people are showing up now.

  208. avatar M eazii says:

    Revis is our saviorrrrr

  209. avatar Tomsect201 says:

Ryan is 0-5 throwing at Revis with 3 almost INT’s. hysterical how good he is.

  210. avatar Joe P says:

    The man is unbelievable

  211. avatar Chrebookie says:

    another td for Titans

  212. avatar jose garcia says:

AGAIN REVIS PLAYS THE EYES. NOT THE NUMBERS!!! BUT WE GIVE UP FIELD POSITION BECAUSE OF NACHO LIBRE!!!

  213. avatar ridinmywave says:

HONESTLY…………if anyone else had our defense…they would be Super Bowl champs

  214. avatar tyrone says:

good hope we just run the ball

  215. avatar ridinmywave says:

    LMAO @ Nacho Libre

  216. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    Ten 17 – Mia 6

  217. avatar Green Lantern says:

    I Love our DEFENSE!!!!!!
    Sanchize is still good.

  218. avatar jetsrdone says:

Thanks a lot Tannenbaum for forcing Rex to keep Schotty as his OC!!!!!!!!! Rex must really want to use Schotty’s headset to strangle him right now!!!!!!!!!

  219. avatar Mark B says:

Look at that: you call a run play, gain yards, and get to call another play b/c there was no turnover. How does Rex Ryan not tell Schott to run the F-ing ball?

  220. avatar david says:

Hmm jones is 10 for 22, greene is 3 for 17.

Lets get greene a few more tries.

  221. avatar tyrone says:

easy pases we also get the ball in 3rd qter so we dont have to do nothin crazy

  222. avatar M eazii says:

Cmon chez, drive us down the field and let’s score! Just don’t make those terrible decisions when you are asked to throw the ball

  223. avatar boozer says:

Ha. I was just watching Nacho Libre on TBS.

  224. avatar jose garcia says:

    WHAT A CLOWN..?!@#$%^&*()

  225. avatar greg sec 130 says:

“HONESTLY…………if anyone else had our defense…they would be Super Bowl champs”

No one is scoring on this defense for the rest of the year.

  226. avatar Joe B. says:

Be nice to get a FG before the half but don’t force anything. This defense has already had to stop enough momentum.

  227. avatar jetsrdone says:

Mark B, you are 100% right about Schotty….Rex must know this but his hands are tied because Schitty is the golden child…..

  228. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Disclaimer- I kill Schotty with regularity on this blog, I dont thnk he is a good play caller and I want Callahan as OC. He made one good call on the playaction to Bray Bray. The rest of the game is classic Schotty putting guys in unnecessary risky spots where they are doomed to fail

TJ runs for 7+ yards on first down and Schotty is having the kid chuck it down the field.

  229. avatar Chrebookie says:

    shoot lost my stream feed…

  230. avatar Joe B. says:

    Brad Smith haters!

  231. avatar Green Lantern says:

I bet the same people that are harshly criticizing Sanchez are the same people that didn’t want to trade for Marshall and said he wasn’t a elite receiver.

  232. avatar M eazii says:

    That was a beautiful catch

  233. avatar joey says:

    why is woodhead in?

  234. avatar AKA Jack says:

Interesting stat. Just average more rushes than any other team and are above that average today and many of you are bitching they don’t run enough.

  235. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

ummm, im tired of woodhead being involved in the offense, 98% of the time it doesnt work out.. hopefully it will now that i kindly noted it

  236. avatar boozer says:

They need to get the ball to B SMith more. That dude just makes plays.

  237. avatar M eazii says:

    Woodhead finally makes a playyyy

  238. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

yes.. i knew it would happen ! lmao! woodhead !!!!

  239. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Just use Woodhead for screens! Look at that nice shovel pass and the smarts to get out of bounds!

  240. avatar boozer says:

Seriously. Woodhead gets tossed around like a rag doll when he gets the ball.

  241. avatar ridinmywave says:

alright alright…….the Rudy sob story is over……..Can Woodhead go back to the practice squad where he belongs?….jeez

and to believe there were actually Woodhead fanatics posting on here a little while ago saying that Woodhead can do any and everything that Leon can do…….smh. cocaine is one hell of a drug

and yeah i saw what just happened…………still not impressed

  242. avatar AKA Jack says:

Schott sucks. Sanchez sucks. Woodhead sucks.

    Some awesome analysis here today.

  243. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Nice drive, good clock mgmnt…Nice of Sanchy to not give up the ball…

  244. avatar jetsrdone says:

Eddie DiGio, you are right on about Schotty…I also agree that Callahan should be OC….The best adjustment that Rex can make at halftime is hand the play-calling duties over to Callahan!!!!! Seriously…….

  245. avatar boozer says:

I would’ve taken one more shot in the end zone.

  246. avatar Joe B. says:

OH MY GOD HOW MANY POINTS ARE WE GONNA LEAVE ON THE FIELD???

  247. avatar Dmazz says:

    BAD WORDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  248. avatar Joe P says:

we cannot catch a break today

  249. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    6 points gone…just like that…

  250. avatar joey says:

its a dejavu of the bills games,i guarantee we will lose this game

  251. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

It sucks that we couldnt score a TD there but Chez did the right thing, dont take potential points off the board, and Feely missed it.

God dang it man, we could cruise through this game if we didnt have some guys who absolutely suck on this team

  252. avatar Dmazz says:

    This will haunt us

  253. avatar ridinmywave says:

FACK!….good way to leave 6 points on the field…..smh, i swear if we lose this game…………

  254. avatar Steve in Philly says:

We better not lose by 6….

  255. avatar James in TN says:

AKA Jack, when you get done blowing Schotty tonight ask him to try not being so predictable with his playcalling.

  256. avatar boozer says:

They way this team is built, we need every point we can get.

  257. avatar joey says:

2 picks, and 2 missed filed goals,u play to win the game, and it looks like we are playing to lose the game

  258. avatar Shamik says:

Lol, can’t watch the game today, but judging by the comments its gonna be Bills redux. Is it too late to stick a dome on that stadium? Cuz Sanchez is garbage outside.

  259. avatar AKA Jack says:

At the half the Jets have 195 yards of total offense, 145 passing and 50 on the ground. Atlanta has 98.

The Jets have 10 first downs. Atlanta has 4.

Sanchez has thrown 2 picks and they have missed 2 field goals.

How again is it that Schott is responsible for them not having more points?

  260. avatar AKA Jack says:

    James in TN-

    Don’t you mean Schitty?

That is the height of wit, don’t back away from it.

  261. avatar Joe B. says:

    Shamik -

Sanchez has made two bad throws but has also made a bunch of great ones. Kicking game has cost us a 13-3 lead. The kid is on pace for 300 yards passing, not his fault mostly.

  262. avatar Joe P says:

Agree Jack—–schotty has pretty much called a good game today. He can only call the plays—he doesn’t pass, run or kick.

  263. avatar ridinmywave says:

BTW……..Joshua Cribbs 1st return today was redonkulous (in the great words of Jon Gruden)…he doesnt even have great speed but that guy just knows how to make ‘em miss and his vision is stupid

  264. avatar James in TN says:

I didn’t know your pet name for him AKA Jack, my bad.

  265. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack, are you AKA homer??? How about AKA Schotty’s girlfriend?

  266. avatar ridinmywave says:

    ehh…..jack does have a point

  267. avatar joey says:

jack u need to stop defending your gay lover schitty

  268. avatar tyrone says:

well 1st half defense played good offense did ok but ST FG are killing us we need a TD at least for our defense to have some slack this is raven football trying to win by 4 points.

  269. avatar joey says:

we better run the freaking ball down their throats on this drive and score a freaking touchdown,or else

  270. avatar Shamik says:

Defense isn’t going to be able to hold up if we keep leaving points in the field and we keep turning the ball over.

  271. avatar geoff says:

just got in looked at the drive logs, looked pretty vomitous in the second quarter offensvely, how bad was it?

  272. avatar AKA Jack says:

    jetsrdone-

No, I just happen to know something about the game. You should learn some. It will help you understand what is actually happening and why Schott is in great demand around the league and generally considered by most as one of the best young talents in coaching.

But go with the girlfriend thing if that makes you feel good.

  273. avatar geoff says:

pleased ith the lead mind you. arrrrrrrg!!!!

  274. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

AKA Jack- for years Schotty has made calls that have totally took our offense out of any rhythm. I kinow you dont feel the same way as a lot of other Jet fans about him, but you cannot blame people for criticizing the guy, he hasnt been that good or done anything big for us that he is above the similar observations that many fans have made about him over the course of the years.

Its always the same story over and over again with him and that is why the hate just boils over

  275. avatar WOJF says:

I predicted last week that everyone would blame shotty if Sanchez reverted to Mr. Turnover. He has, most of you are.

Heres hoping that he stops throwing the ball up for grabs, cheers!

They still should win this game easy if he stops throwing to the wrong team (and no fumbles please).

  276. avatar Joe P says:

Come on Drone—-no need to talk like that—we try to be respectful here.

  277. avatar jose garcia says:

AT LEAST WE’L GET THE BALL FIRST THIS THIS HALF HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET A GOOD RETURN. AT LEAST TO THE 35 YRD LINE.

  278. avatar Joe B. says:

BRAD SMITH IS THE FREAKING MAN. How are there so many critics of this guy?

  279. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

AKA Jack- He was in demand a few years ago in Mangini’s first year, now only his dad would let him run their offense.

Mangini was high in demand as a coordinator too, now he is 3 games from being out of the NFL

  280. avatar Mark B says:

Doesn’t Laura Okmin’s nose look strange?

  281. avatar jose garcia says:

TO THE 50. WAT A STUDD!!!

  282. avatar ridinmywave says:

i dig where your coming from jack. as much as everyone is urging to run the ball, we havent been all that successful on the ground. its a game of adjustments people……their secondary is very weak, those two picks were gift wrapped, not a sign of skill on their part.

  283. avatar jose garcia says:

WOODHEAD IS GOING TO BE OUR WELKER!!!

  284. avatar ridinmywave says:

as sad as it is to say…..woodhead is just too damn small………….cant fall forward to save his life

  285. avatar JesusRevis says:

woodhead is the only player in the nfl who would come up short on that 1st down

  286. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    WOJF

Yea just ignore the TD pass and the other drives to put us in position to have a two possesion lead

Why dont you go root for Kellen Clemens to drop another FG snap or let him go run the offense and see how many sacks he can take

  287. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack and Joe B, read what Mark B wrote…He said a good example of why Schotty is terrible is because with six minutes left in the half, Schotty’s team is winning, his RB is getting warmed up, his defense has been working hard, and he calls a play that requires his rookie QB, who leads the league in INT, to throw the ball downfield…..That is a great example why Schotty is a bad OC….How come you two don’t understand??? Or is it that you don’t want to understand and instead you defend him because you know him in some capacity (like he’s your friend or relative)??? If that’s the case then I understand where you are coming from……..

  288. avatar Chrebookie says:

anyone else got a link to the game?

  289. avatar ridinmywave says:

welker get great YAc and crucial 3rd down conversions consistently……………so NO, he is not our version of anybody…he’s just woodhead, lol

  290. avatar Joe B. says:

CAN WE GET SHONN GREENE IN THERE??? TJ LOOKS AWFUL.

  291. avatar Chrebookie says:

    nice rocket sanchez

  292. avatar Joe B. says:

Terrific throw Mark. HEART OF A LION.

  293. avatar ridinmywave says:

    run the ball huh?….

  294. avatar Shamik says:

I think Woodhead’s name is pretty descriptive of his play.

  295. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

We could have been the bigger player and walked away from an altercation but no…15 yards…

  296. avatar jose garcia says:

THE LINEMEN GOT DOWN THERE FIRST.. GOOD HANDS BRY!!

  297. avatar Joe P says:

    be smart jets

  298. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack, I finally understand……You are AKA Marty Schottenheimer……..

  299. avatar ridinmywave says:

wow, i rarely see Mangold get riled up………..and ofcourse the refs single out Gotham Green as the bad guys….i swear!

and is it just me or is Braylon one stong Mo Fo, how many times is he gonna strong arm 2 to 3 defenders all at once?

  300. avatar jose garcia says:

THEY KNOW TJ IS GETTING THE BALL WE NEED A REVERSE TO OPEN UP THE DEFENSE!!

  301. avatar tyrone says:

    what was that

  302. avatar tyrone says:

    thanks tj

  303. avatar gavinskeen says:

Ridiculous penalty call – about 12 guys were grabbing facemasks there, and the refs knew they had to throw on something. Cost us a chance at points.

  304. avatar Joe B. says:

Outgained them 248-93 and we’re up by four, and a 19-yard punt by Weatherford. SOJ.

  305. avatar david says:

why did the announcers not even consider it was intentionally grounding. They had no clue what was going on. As soon as the play happened I said. Ahh, thats a flag!

  306. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    Damn it!

  307. avatar AKA Jack says:

    jetsrdone-

Are you watching this game? The Jets are moving through the Falcons like Sherman through Atlanta. The only thing stopping them are turnovers, penalties and missed kicks.

The OC can’t fix that. The players are responsible for the play on the field,

No, I’m not a relative of Schott’s or even his gay lover. But I do watch the game and I know what is stopping the O and it is not the play calling of the OC.

  308. avatar joey says:

    another wasted opportunity,wow we sukk

  309. avatar tyrone says:

offense is off we need some scores from defense

  310. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Braylon is an absolute man beast, he is a FOOTBALL PLAYER, not the primadonna-criminal- T.O clone that Hank made him out to be

  311. avatar jay says:

hey t jones thanks dumb a** Mark you suck

  312. avatar Dmazz says:

    Agree Gavin -

  313. avatar joey says:

weatherfors sux big time,i can punt better than that

  314. avatar boozer says:

Every good play is getting canceled out by a bad mistake or bad penalty.
    Get your shizz together Jets!

  315. avatar Joe B. says:

    david -

Dick Stockton is the worst play-by-play guy in sports. It’s not even close. He never has any idea what’s going on.

  316. avatar jose garcia says:

THATS TO HLMETS WE RIPED OFF ALREADY..

  317. avatar geoff says:

what a stupid series, ate a bit of clock mind you

  318. avatar tyrone says:

    the offense needs meditation

  319. avatar Joe B. says:

We might have to win this game 7-3. This D is unreal.

  320. avatar Dmazz says:

Dmazz man loves this Defense Rex better not go anywhere!

  321. avatar levi says:

anybody got a stream for the game

  322. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

I love Mike DeVito, he is a greaseball just like me.

    Forza di Italia!!!!

  323. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack, it’s also the situations the OC puts the players in and how he utilizes them…Sanchez may have thrown the pick but Schotty should have never called the play….

  324. avatar Shamik says:

Who cares if its Schotty or Sanchez or whomever. This is a team sport, and we know that when the Jets aren’t firing on all cylinders the end result is a big fat L on the board. Honestly, thats where it looks like its going to go. Prediction: O continues to stink it up until the D finally gives up a backbreaking play late to lose it. Sounds like the Miami, Bills, or Jags games all over again.

  325. avatar jose garcia says:

DICK SHOULD STICK TO BASKETBALL. HORRIFIC AT FOOTBALL.

  326. avatar Tomsect201 says:

OK…gotta put points on the board!

  327. avatar Joe B. says:

I want to see Shonn and more Shonn on this drive. TJ has been awful and Sanchez has been up-and-down. The rookie RB is our only constant thus far.

  328. avatar greg sec 130 says:

Looks like it is going to be a win to me, Shamik. Keep up the optimism.

  329. avatar boozer says:

Titans up 24-6…cmon jets one score please!

  330. avatar tyrone says:

could the defense just play for 15 min and we hold and go home dont need 4th qter they look confused

  331. avatar ridinmywave says:

i hate this Defense………i think i hate Revis more than i hate this defense as a whole…….I have a strong dislike for david Harris as well………

  332. avatar Mark B says:

The defense is all world right now — the question is whether they are going to tire b/c the offense is not getting it done today. Folks are right that TJ is not getting it done on the ground, but at least you keep the clock moving and shorten the game. Sanchez has been good throwing when needed and has been making some good decisions. So, even with the 2 INT, I think he is making progress today. JETS will win.

  333. avatar ridinmywave says:

im tired of seeing them on the field

  334. avatar jose garcia says:

GREAT READ NACHO. BRY WAS LIBRE FOR A FIRST DOWN.

  335. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Wave- ZING!!!

  336. avatar ridinmywave says:

im getting sick and tired of Braylon Edwards too and all his baby momma drama……he cant do ANYTHING right

  337. avatar jose garcia says:

RUN A REVERSE TO TJ. PLLEEEAAASSE!!!

  338. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Joey B

Lets go LocoMoShonn!!! I love it dude

  339. avatar Shamik says:

    Ridin: wtf??? Assuming sarcasm.

  340. avatar ridinmywave says:

lol! @ eddie………..oh yeah Brad Smith SUCKS! haha

  341. avatar AKA Jack says:

    jetsrdone-

This is the NFL. Sanchez has multiple options on every pass. It is up to him to make the right read. When he does, the team moves. When he doesn’t there are turnovers.

Look what the team does when they don’t make bonehead turnovers and penalties.

They are ripping off yards as I type this.

  342. avatar gavinskeen says:

Put TJ in the game! Is this the time to send a message by taking out your best offensive player? The guy never commits dumb penalties, and what he did wasn’t even that bad. Put him back in now.

  343. avatar tyrone says:

    well defense is back

  344. avatar boozer says:

haha….I think Sanchez is in code Double red.
    This may end up 7-3.

  345. avatar Joe B. says:

Can we get a real punter this offseason please? It’s pretty sad when putting them at the 14 is a huge victory for Weathertard.

  346. avatar ridinmywave says:

No! im very serious!!!…..or maybe staring outside at this snow is just gettin to me….lol

  347. avatar Joe B. says:

    gavinskeen -

TJ’s also out of the game because he’s got 15 carries for 35 yards. He’s been terrible, and on what planet is he our best offensive player?

  348. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

C’mon on! I hate to keep putting the weight on this monster D…Here’s advice for Schott—short dumps to the RB…

  349. avatar Shamik says:

Man, they better hope Ryan doesnt throw up a TD on the board. God knows they’re not getting any more points the way this is going.

  350. avatar geoff says:

    14 works for me

  351. avatar dacoahc says:

falcons d has been giving up HUGE pass plays downfield all year…their run d has been solid – push it downfield Shotty!

  352. avatar tyrone says:

    we need a defensive score

  353. avatar gavinskeen says:

Ok, I am officially terrified that we will lose this game. We have totally dominated, kicking game has been atrocious and now the coaching staff – that has pushed aggression all season – seems to be sending the wrong guy a message in TJ. We need a defensive TD. This is all starting to feel all too familiar – with Miami losing, if we find a way to lose this game I’m not going to handle it very well.

  354. avatar geoff says:

we knew this as going to be ugly as sin. we never do things the easy way. enjoy

  355. avatar leon's legs says:

this D is going to break eventually!!!! unreal

  356. avatar dacoahc says:

    final score 10-7 falcons

  357. avatar Chrebookie says:

whoa hollywood made a tackle. i didnt know he could do that

  358. avatar ridinmywave says:

    sniff…sniff…….you smelled that too Kerry!?

  359. avatar Joe P says:

I have a bad vibe about this drive

  360. avatar Dmazz says:

At least its perfectly clear where the issues are on this team.

    Rookie QB
    Lack of quality Slot receiver

  361. avatar boozer says:

    hollywood!

  362. avatar Tomsect201 says:

Kerry Rhodes – great job standing in front of the ball carrier. best tackle of the season.

  363. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Rhodes’ name has come up a bit…FINALLY

  364. avatar dacoahc says:

need some pressure on ryan here

  365. avatar gavinskeen says:

Joe B, if you watch the Jets you know that TJ always gets better as the game goes along. And here on earth he is our best and most consistent offensive player, has been the last 2 years. Most explosive? No. Best, most consistent? Yeah, I think so.

  366. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack, he’s just a rookie….Schotty plays Sanchez like he is Tom Brady….Maybe one day but not this year….Watch old tapes of how Belichick handled Brady in his first season as a starter (second season overall)…If Schotty (Schotty is the “head coach” of the Jets offense) handled Sanchez in a similar fashion maybe the Jets would win a Super Bowl just like the Patriots did in Brady’s first season as a starter…

  367. avatar dacoahc says:

why do they continue to throw at revis???!

  368. avatar tyrone says:

    defense is great

  369. avatar leon's legs says:

i hope shotty realizes that a good long drive resulting in a td will ultimately end this game

  370. avatar ridinmywave says:

if i see Cotch return anything from this point on im gonna put my fist through something

  371. avatar jose garcia says:

REVERSE TO TJ TO SMITH. OR OPTION FAKE TO TJ GO RIGHT W/ GREENE. COME ON SCHOTTY THIS IS GOLD BABY. ARE YOU READING?

  372. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

AkA Jack- I here what you are saying but Chez is a rookie, you have to be very judicious when giving him those options. People around the league have been very critical of how Schotty has developed the kid. The stats are what they are with Schotty, its calling the offense so that the Jets score points and win games, not rip off yards that result in L’s

We have great field position, a TD here would put this game in the ripe for the taking category

  373. avatar Joe B. says:

I’ve been one of his most ardent critics on here, but Kerry has been masterful these last two games. Let’s hope he keeps it up and the offense can finally do something with this field position. This game should be out of reach by now, but if we have to win 7-3 or 10-6, so be it!

  374. avatar ridinmywave says:

leonhard was bad enough but dammit man, your telling me theres no better options on the team?

  375. avatar ridinmywave says:

    whoa nelly

  376. avatar jose garcia says:

COTCH IS THERE CAUSE HE HAS GREAT HANDS. NOT FOR ANYTHING ELSE.

  377. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

I think Chez threw that thing to Hoboken on purpose cuz Bray Bray was doubled

  378. avatar leon's legs says:

the d is going to break….. come on O this is absolutely ridiculous

  379. avatar dacoahc says:

GREAT FIELD POSITION AND ANOTHER PUNT!!!!

  380. avatar Mark B says:

I know I keep calling for the run game, but shouldn’t they call a run play other than up the middle over and over again …

  381. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    Why not run?

  382. avatar ... says:

Why does the announcer keep calling us “the Greens?”

  383. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Joe B

I have agreed with you in both the critical part of Kerry Rhodes and your assessment today. He has picked up his game and as a result this defense as a whole is downright scary

  384. avatar Joe B. says:

    leon’s legs -

Way to be optimistic. The offense hasn’t put up points but the TOP is in the Jets’ favor right now. Sometimes your defense has to carry you. This is one of those games. I have faith in them. This is a different unit these last four weeks.

  385. avatar dacoahc says:

where’s d keller this game? what happened to his present in the intermediate passing game??

  386. avatar hangar says:

we need the D to score one for us

  387. avatar boozer says:

arr…ill even take a field goal at this point.
the defense is breaking a bit.

  388. avatar tyrone says:

I guess if you stop our run you hurt us

  389. avatar Joe P says:

We are asking the defense to do a lot today

  390. I wanna see some more wildcat!! smith is ready to break one!!!

  391. avatar jetsrdone says:

burbankjetsfan, I’ve been asking that same question all season…..I think the answer is that Schotty is a little slow in the head.

  392. avatar dacoahc says:

damn! revis burnt for 17 there

  393. avatar Joe P says:

    The man stopped him cold

  394. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Anyone notice the insane hops Darelle has? Dude he can probably throw it down off two feet

  395. avatar Mark B says:

Imagine how good the defense would be if we actually had a pass rush

  396. avatar tyrone says:

we need to just run throw short and kill the clock

  397. avatar jose garcia says:

BRING BACK OUT WILDCAT FOR MORE THAN ONE PLAY RE. STOP BEING SO STUBBORN!!!!

  398. avatar AKA Jack says:

    jetsrdone-

I don’t have to watch the tapes, I live four blocks from Brady. I see the Pats all the time.

It wasn’t Belichick it was Charlie Weis who was the O coordinator for the Pats. If you are going to credit Belichick then blame Rex, you can’t have it both ways.

And Brady was a much savior player when he came in for Bledsoe after Mo Lewis nearly torn his chest apart. He did throw the ball just as Sanchez does but he had 4 years at Michigan and a whole year sitting behind Bledsoe before he was thrown into the mix. He didn’t try to force the offense which is exactly what Sanchez does.

The Jets run more than any other team in the league. But in the NFL you can’t run on every down, not even if you have a Barry Sanders which we don’t. Every now and then you have to mix it up with a pass. Unfortunately for the Jets, when Sanchez is called on to make the pass he often makes the wrong read or a bad pass.

The Jets play a conservative offense and still have left at least 6 maybe more points on the field this game. This game should be over but the players have made mistakes. The turnovers have cost them even more in field position.

I hold the players accountable for that, not the offensive coordinator.

  399. avatar tyrone says:

    we need a stop

  400. avatar Joe B. says:

I knew I’d jinx it. There’s Kerry, up to his old tricks whiffing on a crucial tackle. Nevermind.

  401. avatar tyrone says:

it was comming the defense has been out there to much

  402. avatar gavinskeen says:

    Nice tackle kerry.

  403. avatar boozer says:

    nice tackle hollywood.

  404. avatar Tomsect201 says:

whiff. While we are all killing Schotty & Sanchez, think about how much better we would all feel if it was 13-3.

  405. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Long FGs are going to be tough in these conditions.
Huge stop by Lito and Rhodes right there

  406. avatar tyrone says:

nice hold defense offense needs to get going

  407. avatar ridinmywave says:

    whew

  408. avatar Joe B. says:

Finally we get a break. LET’S PUT THIS SUCKER AWAY!!!

  409. avatar L7WIENIE says:

    boo yaaaaaaaaa

  410. avatar tyrone says:

WE NEED A TD TO KILL THIS GAME

  411. avatar Joe P says:

    what is the Miami score?

  412. avatar gavinskeen says:

Now run it down their throat and end this game.

  413. avatar Chrebookie says:

    can this game end…..

  414. avatar L7WIENIE says:

    WAR MACHINE TIME!

  415. avatar Chrebookie says:

    miami down large

  416. avatar dacoahc says:

can we get a freaking score?

  417. avatar tyrone says:

we need to slow down also give the defense a breather.but go down field

  418. avatar Joe B. says:

    24-9 Joe P.

  419. avatar Ryan says:

This is december Football Baby! You know its good when im sweating in my house in the end of December.

  420. avatar jose garcia says:

THAT WAS FUN TO WATCH AS A JET FAN SCOTT JUMPING OVER SOMEONE TO PUT PRESSURE. USUALLY SOMEONE IS JUMPING ONE OF OUR GUYS TO GET TO OUR QB..

  421. avatar Harvlis says:

    AKA Jack,

One play does not make an offensive coordinator. If you think our offense is looking good, you are in a dream world. We have not established the run or the pass. Our run game is so obviouse, they are meeting the running back in the backfield.

If you took Schotzy and Sanchez and replaced them with competent people — we would be winning this game by more than twenty points. Sanchez is a rookie, playing in bad conditions — what is Schotzy’s excuse?

Our defense is excellent but, the offense is playing good enough to lose. We need a turnover or this game can turn ugly. I’ve said this many times — “If we get rid of Schottenheimer, we can start winning”.

  422. avatar Joe P says:

Nice score Miami Small Titans Large

  423. avatar Mark B says:

Not a particularly good game for Matt Ryan but the guy is tough. Nice long, time-consuming drive and we win …

  424. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    24 – 9 12 minutes left.

  425. avatar dacoahc says:

tj has been stopped for a loss on 1st down at least 5 times!

  426. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Ok. Third and long, HOW BOUT A SHORT DUMP TO TJ?!?

  427. avatar ridinmywave says:

ground game = zilch right now………..their stuffing the box crazy

  428. avatar Joe P says:

Thanks Tom—need a first down here

  429. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

AKA Jack- you make some valid points but ur missing the point jetsrdone is trying to make, its not when Chez has to throw like on 3rd down and long, its when we have momentum and Schotty airs it out on first down, taking a risk when he shouldnt, killing a drive, our team, and possibly a game

  430. avatar Tomsect201 says:

Wow that was risky. great concentration by Keller

  431. avatar gavinskeen says:

Great pass sanchize – please get a FG out of this at least, take some pressure off.

  432. avatar ridinmywave says:

that was close…………good play hellen keller, udaman!

  433. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Throwing it into double coverage…Sanchez does have good accuracy…

  434. avatar boozer says:

    finally…

  435. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack, that’s why I went out of my way to write that Schotty is the “head coach” of the offense (look it up)…It’s a known fact that Tannenbaum only hired Rex after he made him agree to keep Schotty and give him full reigns of the offense…Only just a few games ago did Tannenbaum finally give Rex the authority to even sit in the offensive meetings…Prior to that Tannenbaum did not want this because he didn’t want to upset his boy Schotty….However, even Tannenbaum finally realizes that Schotty is a horrible OC….Why can’t you??? I can’t believe that you didn’t even know this!!! Are you a Jets fan or a Patriots fan???

  436. avatar leon's legs says:

YES!!!! long drive + TD = game over

  437. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    Kill some clock!

  438. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Hey Eddie-

    You watching this drive?

The Jets are once again in scoring position.

    Who’s calling these plays?

  439. avatar gavinskeen says:

Such uneven play calling all game. Thankfully sanchez has made some big 3rd down plays, but schotty is giving a lesson in how not to call a game offensively.

  440. avatar boozer says:

    please please please feeley.

  441. avatar dacoahc says:

3 points here should do it – jets d is not giving up a td

  442. avatar gavinskeen says:

Please make this. Please, for the love of god, make a FG.

  443. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Feely has to make this….

  444. avatar boozer says:

    RARWWWW!!!!

  445. avatar Tomsect201 says:

Mia just scored to close to 24-16

  446. avatar leon's legs says:

unreal.. they are just finding a way to lose

  447. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Yes, Jack, it’s obviously Schoot…But why not short dumps?!? Slants? Screens? Sanchez’s eyes have been the dead give away…

  448. avatar ridinmywave says:

    this sucks……9 points and counting

  449. avatar tyrone says:

    well defense help us

  450. avatar gavinskeen says:

this is unbelievable. Even for the jets. Come on D, its all you again, one more time.

  451. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    unbelievable.

  452. avatar doine says:

    you’re kidding ffs

  453. avatar Steve in Philly says:

    Special. Teams. Nightmare.

  454. avatar AKA Jack says:

Make that at least 12 points the Jets have left on the field.

When are some of you going to start holding the players accountable?

  455. avatar Joe P says:

Can we stop beating a dead Schotty at this point. I don’t think that anyone is crazy about the guy—but he is going to be around until at last the end of the season—so we can bitch all we want. Think today he has called a relatively good game—-and now that is 9 points that put them in position to score and the special teams let the Jets down.

  456. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Will the kicking game be the killer this week? Can’t blame all Special Teams…This game is making me nauseous…

  457. avatar Ryan says:

ahhhh this team is gonna kill me!!

  458. avatar tyrone says:

defense hold we could run out the clock maybe

  459. avatar jose garcia says:

CAN WE FIND OTHER WAYS OF TRYING TO FIND WAY OF NOT LOSING PLEASE.

  460. avatar Mark B says:

No one ever said it was easy to be a JETS fan. This is the part of the game where the defense usually breaks — and who can blame them being forced to play with this offense and all

  461. avatar kd bart says:

    We all know what’s coming.

  462. avatar ridinmywave says:

ladies and gents i consider myself a positive thinker but my middle name just happens to be Realistic, i see the Jets losing this game in heart breaking fashion…………….please ridinmywave, be wrong

  463. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack, you look really stupid for calling out Eddie DiGio…..Are YOU watching this game???

  464. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Hey Jack

Brilliant job using Wayne Hunter as an eiligable reciever. Chez made the check at the line of scrimage to J Co and the kid scrambled out to make the throw after Schottys play had broken down.

Im trying to meet you in the middle but you refuse to acknowledge any faults the guy has, regardless of what many other people have said who know just as much about the game as you do.

The guy is not Bill Walsh out there

  465. avatar jose garcia says:

    HOW ABOUT THEM CLEVELAND BROWNS?

  466. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    Scott just destroyed someone

  467. avatar Harvlis says:

How many times has the Jet offense had a big first down to bring them to the opponents twenty, only to have the play-calling fall off the table and the drive bog down. It happened how many times today? How was our field position to start drives, all day?

    Thank god for our defense.

  468. avatar leon's legs says:

can a man get a pick?

  469. avatar ridinmywave says:

revis’ footwork makes me sick to my stomach

  470. avatar Tomsect201 says:

stockton: “The Jets are not missing many tackles”

Hey, Dick, they are destroying people.

  471. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Eddie-

When did I say every play call was brilliant? Hunter was the fourth option and he blew it.

BTW, at what point are you going to address the 12 points the players have left on the field?

  472. avatar leon's legs says:

say goodnight to the playoffs im a realist…

  473. avatar gavinskeen says:

This would go up with the loss to DET when Leon threw the pick as worst loss ever. Please defense, make a play and save us from this nightmare

  474. avatar boozer says:

    whyyyyyyyy?

  475. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Wow. It’s a love hate relationship being a Jets fan.

  476. avatar jose garcia says:

IM NOT WATCHING THE REST OF THIS GAME..

  477. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    I’m gonna be sick.

  478. avatar a.i. says:

first time commenting on here and downing some brews….all i can say is….WOW im chugging my brewskie right now.

  479. avatar Dmazz says:

God hates the Jets – thats exactly what it is. I know it.

  480. avatar ridinmywave says:

lets be serious………our defense is still BEAST….but our offense keeps giving back the ball, what do you expect to happen? they are human after all

  481. avatar joey says:

like i said, when u expect the jets to win, thye blow it,same old freaking jets, this team is cursed, and whom ever doesnt think so kick rocks

  482. avatar kd bart says:

They found a way to lose this game.

  483. avatar tyrone says:

    defensive hold right here

  484. avatar boozer says:

this is like miami all over again. make sure you use the timeouts ryan.

  485. avatar Ryan says:

Atlants has nothing to play for this is most likely 4 down territory for them

  486. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

So what do we need to fix on Offense?

  487. avatar kd bart says:

They let them hang around all game.

  488. avatar Chrebookie says:

this is it they got 4 plays to show how great they really are.
    be that #1 defense

  489. avatar gavinskeen says:

They are going to try to throw it up to white and revis will pick it – that is what I am telling myself.

  490. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Im not saying the Jets havent made mistakes but they consistently have the same problems on offense in the red zone, year after year, QB after QB, at what point do you think it might be a problem?

If you dont think it is, thats fine. Me and the other 90% of Jet fans will disagree with you

  491. avatar Mark B says:

I’ve always said that if someone came up with a list of the team that has lost more games in the last five minutes it would have to be the JETS at the top. I love
‘em, but how predictable is this … Defense save us — again

  492. avatar Joe P says:

This could be the 5th game we loose on the oppositions last drive

  493. avatar joey says:

we suck, big time we suck, fire schitty right now

  494. avatar boozer says:

Thank you Rex. Atleast you learned your leson.

  495. avatar gavinskeen says:

At least rex learned how to use TOs

  496. avatar tyrone says:

    drama drama drama

  497. avatar JETS FAN says:

Fire Schitty! Same old Jets! I hate this team, but also I love this team. I am conflicted! Also, I will never watch another game again! Unless they fire Schitty! He looked awful out there, blowing all those field goals!

  498. avatar Harvlis says:

This is what happens, when your offense doesn’t get the job done, time after time. The defense was doing it all day long. Instead of stomping this team, we are in a position to lose. This has happened all year long. We better hope the d comes up big, again.

  499. avatar a.i. says:

we SUCK chug a brewskie yall lets drown our sorrows….

  500. avatar tyrone says:

hey lets not loose confidence we have a huge chance here

  501. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Geez how long is this timeout?!?

  502. avatar leon's legs says:

    2 down 2 to go

  503. avatar Tomsect201 says:

    nice play Leonhard

  504. avatar gavinskeen says:

Harvlis, you can’t just blame the offense – they got in position for 3 makeable FGs. Make 2 and its over. Just 1 and at least we’re up 7.

  505. avatar ridinmywave says:

like i said………….if anyone else had this defense…they would be super bowl champs.

  506. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Eddie-

QB after QB? You mean 2006 when Penny took the team to the playoffs? Or 2007 when Clemens, was well Clemens? Or last year when they scored over 400 points? Or this year with a rookie QB?

I’m not much concerned with what 90% (your number) or Jets think.

    Just me.

  507. avatar leon's legs says:

    HERS WE GO #1 D!!!!!!!!

  508. avatar Chrebookie says:

    1 to go

  509. avatar Ryan says:

    oh my i need help

  510. avatar ridinmywave says:

Revis….cut it out, we get the point.

  511. avatar Harvlis says:

Last gasp. Biggest play of the year is coming up. Go D.

  512. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

One sack. Just one sack this game…

  513. avatar boozer says:

being a jets fan is really hard.

  514. avatar leon's legs says:

that play would have locked up DPOY

  515. avatar Ryan says:

this is it guys idk what to say

  516. avatar kd bart says:

    MAKE ONE PLAY!!!!!!!

  517. avatar gavinskeen says:

One play – please football gods, just one time.

  518. avatar reality jet fan says:

The jet movie we have seen a million times. What a disgrace !

  519. avatar Mark B says:

How can an offense perform so poorly and it is not the fault (at least in some part) of the OC? The rookie QB wasn’t so bad today. No rhyme or reason to the play calling. That’s the fault of the person calling the plays.

  520. avatar Joe P says:

this may be the wait till next year moment

  521. avatar Ryan says:

i need to bring in a lamaz coach to help me through these games

  522. avatar dacoahc says:

    watch the run!!

  523. avatar jetsrdone says:

AKA Jack, keep blaming the players if it makes you feel better….You sound like the wife who solely blames the mistress and not her husband when she’s discovered he’s cheated on her……….

  524. avatar reality jet fan says:

    They dont deserve a stop

  525. avatar Ryan says:

    dammiiiittt,

  526. avatar a.i. says:

whos chugging some beer with me? that hurt…

  527. avatar tyrone says:

well its now up to the offense

  528. avatar leon's legs says:

well someone please check when the #1 defense did not make the playoffs

  529. avatar ridinmywave says:

    well…….there she blows.

  530. avatar joey says:

the defense just stood there watching, what a discusting feeling

  531. avatar Ryan says:

that snowball almost connected would of stopped play

  532. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    Ugh.

  533. avatar reality jet fan says:

SAME OL JETS SAME OL JETS SAME OL JETS

  534. avatar Harvlis says:

Sickening. All caused by our offense. We now have a minute and a half to try to get this into OT.

  535. avatar gavinskeen says:

Dick Stockton doesn’t know the score. Is he serious?! ANd nobody is correcting him?

  536. avatar boozer says:

wow. i think you might see some snowballs coming soon.

  537. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

    He was sooooo wide open…

  538. avatar tyrone says:

defense played good today is the offense is why we have this problem

  539. avatar Harvlis says:

Only a total moron would throw a snowball at the players.

  540. avatar leon's legs says:

    we need a miracle…

  541. avatar Still a chance says:

Sanchez has never pulled off a 4th quarter comeback. Maybe today?

  542. avatar ridinmywave says:

the Jets have pushed me beyond alchohol abuse this season…………i think i might try some dope and all types of non perscriptioned pills

  543. avatar Mark says:

how is it that Dick Stockton is still employed? He is awful.

  544. avatar gavinskeen says:

Okay sanchez, here’s your moment – its not over yet. It can’t be. It can’t end like this.

  545. avatar joey says:

i did say they were gonna lose this game,i mean they couldnt do jack on offense

  546. avatar a.i. says:

    @burbankjetsfan

gotta give matty ice credit man great throw and read….painful.

  547. avatar tyrone says:

    nice position

  548. avatar Shamik says:

Woooo, go Jets! I must be an eff-ing moron to waste my time with this team.

  549. avatar AKA Jack says:

That’s ok jetrdone. You’re name here gives a perfect explanation of what you sound like.

Just go ahead and ignore all the points the players left on the field. That males it easier for you to put the blame on coaching.

  550. avatar tyrone says:

    well could sanchize do it

  551. avatar Ryan says:

field goal is no guarentee here

  552. avatar reality jet fan says:

And in true jets style the season ends and the dolphins will lose what a garbage franchise

  553. avatar Ryan says:

cmon really??? this is just stupid play!

  554. avatar Harvlis says:

The OC has to do a number of things here -

    Run the clock intelligently.

Remind players to get to the sidelines.

    Get us to GG position.

  555. avatar Harvlis says:

    FG position.

  556. avatar reality jet fan says:

Who cares if the d played well. My god where is the anger.

  557. avatar joey says:

wtf, this offense sucks bulls nuts,i mean really, there goes the season, its time to wake up front office and get rid of the cancer know as schitty the worst oc in the game.

  558. avatar leon's legs says:

yea dolphins will lose? would that be a different jets yr.. phins coming back

  559. avatar ridinmywave says:

penalties, interceptions, special teams………take your pick(no pun intended to sanchez) lol

  560. avatar reality jet fan says:

    No sanchez cant do it!

  561. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Jack, your obviously not going to give it up.

Schotty is not inept, he has some good plays, but he snuck up on people that first year.
Schotty was so good his second year, we had to bring in Callahan to coordinate a running game bc we were sooooo horrific in that dept.
Of those 400 pts we scored, we couldnt score enough to win one game down the stretch last year to make the playoffs

Schotty isnt that good that he deserves to be defended in the fashion you do…the guy is mediocre as they come

  562. avatar ridinmywave says:

did i just jinx this kid?

  563. avatar tyrone says:

    nice year guys

  564. avatar Ryan says:

well its been a fun year guys have a good holiday everyone

  565. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

Yummy. Awesome. Now let’s focus on next year…How do we fix this offense?!?!?!?!?!

  566. avatar joey says:

thank you sanchito, you suck bulls nuts as well, how in the f*** we lose to this team is beyond me.

  567. avatar Chrebookie says:

well that was a fitting end….

  568. avatar leon's legs says:

PHINS TD!!!!! just great… we have a 0% shot of playoffs we are now at square 1

  569. avatar boozer says:

I think Rex’s reaction says it all.

  570. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

THE JETS ARE A JOKE AND THE BIGGEST JOKER IS KERRY RHODES!

  571. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

Strickland lost us the game with the defense facemask

  572. avatar wrex ryan says:

    F%$C&%$K

  573. avatar hangar says:

    Sanchez

The good, The bad and the UGLY

  574. avatar ... says:

Mike Westhoff needs to have a little talk with his guys.

  575. avatar ridinmywave says:

awwhh, look at that bewildered face we have grown so accostomed to this season………………WWWTTTTFFFFF!!!!!?????????????

  576. avatar leon's legs says:

    chad henne > mark sanchez

  577. avatar reality jet fan says:

The kid ruined the season. Stop with the d played well and can sanchez do it. Its the jets and many of you seem to forget that because they beat 3 garbage teams in a row. Its the same ol jets. And i cant wait for all the positive jet fans putting a positive spin on tha game. they are disgusting and the kid stunk again.

  578. avatar Ryan says:

call me crazy guys I really thought it would be different, lose by 3 leave a million points on the field unbeleivable

  579. avatar burbankjetsfan says:

There goes our chances for the 8-8 season…

  580. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Ediie-

You’re obviously not going to answer the question.

Who left 12 points on the field, the players or Schott?

  581. avatar a.i. says:

ima bengals from this point till the end of the season. hope we make great strides next year.

  582. avatar ridinmywave says:

Editor, i usually respected your posts…..but your new name is Random Randy wit that last one…….smh, whered that come from?

  583. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Thanks guys, game should have never been close. Thanks Jay Feely, Kellen Clemens and Donald Strickland

HORRIBLE, they do not deserve to go to the playoffs and they have a lot to learn in terms of winning football games.

I guess Im not as enlightened as AKA Jack, I guess Im just a stupid guy who cant get on the Schotty bandwagon

  584. avatar kd bart says:

Knew it would end on an interception.

They kept the Falcons in the game all day long. Three missed field goals and don’t forget the 15 yard penalty on Thomas Jones that cost them a first down on the 23.

They were in Falcon territory all day and did nothing with it. Reminds me of the game they lost to Detroit at home back in 2000 that cost them the playoffs. Let a team hanf around and they will find a way to beat you.

  585. avatar geoff says:

vomit game #5 why do the jets persist in losing in massively comical fashion ALL THE TIME!!

  586. avatar a.i. says:

    bengals fan*

  587. avatar joey says:

all they had to do was win a freaking winable game, and what they do?they did what every other jets team did before them, lay a freaking egg,im not longer watching them,i hope the ravens win tonight and make the playoffs,i rather them than miami,we dont deserve the playoffs,we suck and so does our qb,and his offensive coordinator

  588. avatar Dmazz says:

Jets don’t deserve a playoff spot – losses against all good teams and bad teams

    Screw em I say.

They collectively lost this game Defense played very well and Sanchez killed us and the Defense couldn’t recover.

    Defense should have stopped them.

  589. avatar reality jet fan says:

The worst words you can hear “jets control there own desatiny”.

  590. avatar Casey says:

Seems the the defense always plays amazing until the last drive of the game when it matters. I’m not knocking them because they played a heck of a game and the offense/special teams really let us down. A disappointing loss and an even more disappointing end to a once promising season. Lets see how we do in the next two weeks and hope for less turn overs next year.

  591. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

    I’m a Jet fan, FML

  592. avatar Scouse Jet says:

You can’t just blame Sanchez, we missed 3 FG’s two of them gimmees. You score two of those three and this isn’t even a game.

  593. avatar Shamik says:

They should lock Sanchez out of his house and make him live outside in the damn cold until he’s used to it. Also cut that idiot Feely.

  594. avatar Dave TN says:

They can’t even let us fool ourselves for one more week. Disgusting.

  595. avatar Rudibager says:

Kellen Clemens should be thrown out like garbage. He’s not a good backup QB. He’s not good at HOLDING the damn football down. His stupid clumsiness set the tone for the Jets’ inability to kick a damn field goal.

The rest of the field goal kicking team needs to get lashed as well.

I CANNOT come to terms with this loss. I simply can’t. Screw off Clemens. Screw your goddamn stupid face into oblivion.

  596. avatar Brian says:

Our offense f&&&ing sucks. What a shame.

  597. avatar Shamik says:

Yeah, and the D absolutely LOVES to give up those late plays. This game was EXACTLY like Miami 1 and Jags. I called it before halftime.

  598. avatar boozer says:

Atleast now I can look forward to the Mets Season…Oh wait I can’t. FML.

  599. avatar ridinmywave says:

i do agree Leon, i do wish the kid the best but it is painfully obvious Chad Henne>>>>>Sanchez……..buy a margin

  600. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Now that the JETS are officially done, let’s starting playing for the future and start playing some rookies. Eric Smith should start over Kerry “I can’t tackle” Rhodes. I would also play Gholston somewhere. If he is not a OLB, play him at DE. Murrell and Westerman should get some time.

  601. avatar jose garcia says:

3RD AND 13 AND HE TRIES TO GET IT ALL IN ONE PASS. AN OBVIOUS 4 DOWN TERRITORY. ALL WE NEEDED WAS 10 OR EVEN HALF OF IT FIRST. NACHO LEBRE TRYING TO BE ZORRO! CLOWN!!

  602. avatar leon's legs says:

    henne > sanchez

  603. avatar a.i. says:

any1 here play madden 10 on xbox live? i wanna release some frustrastion.

  604. avatar Shamik says:

Sanchez couldn’t lead a comeback drive to save his life.

  605. avatar reality jet fan says:

They must be the worst number 1 defense ever. The players the coaches can switch it will never change they are dommed.Hopefully this will wipe that smug smile off rexs fat face.

  606. avatar James in TN says:

I would call Schitty a retard , but I wouldn’t want to offend any retards. He is a joke, and anyone who thinks he is not is a joke as well. 7 points, all we get in a big game is 7 points. The Defense played their heart out. Bitter bitter pill to swallow.

Speaking of swallowing…. AKA Jack , tell Schitty to pack his bags after tonight because he will be gone.

    Awful, just awful

  607. avatar tyrone says:

we did everything to loose this game but this offense was not ready for playoffs we will get a better draft position

  608. avatar kd bart says:

Make your chip shot field goals and this a 16-3 game in the last four minutes and it’s over. They lost two games this season due to a massive failure on the part of the special teams.

  609. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

I did answer the question, they blew it!!!!

My point is that Schotty doesnt have the credibility that you make him out to have, where he is beyond being questioned or the people dont have the right to start thinking that another option at OC isnt out of the realm of rational thought

Whatever dude, I guess I am in that stupid percentage of Jet fans who just dont understand the consistent problems that hamper this offense year after year, player after player that have nothing to do with Schotty

  610. avatar trugreen says:

sanchez is the reason we lost this game. 3 int u cannot lose the turnover battle. u have to expect to miss fieldgoals on a day like this.

  611. avatar Brian says:

Score more points. If only we had a better scheme.

  612. avatar Phil T says:

The special teams lost the game today. Sanchez did not help though.

Strickland’s facemask penalty did not give up their go-ahead TD. It was when he went man when they were playing zone.

    I’m disgusted with them.

  613. avatar john l says:

another ****in loser season. this **** SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

  614. avatar ridinmywave says:

even if we didnt botch that snap, the game would have went into overtime……..and we would have lost anyway……………..And Henne is proving why he is the man while we speak…………..this hurts

  615. avatar reality jet fan says:

You guys love rex so much you are hoping its shotty. It starts and ends with the hc.

  616. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

SAME OLD JETS!!! And Woody The Weasel has the audacity to charge PSLs to watch his crappy team?? I hope they don’t sell out so we don’t have to watch the crappy Jets play on TV.

And what’s with these Offensive players getting personal fouls??? STUPID PLAYS by STUPID players!

  617. avatar Shamik says:

Freakin DREW STANTON can bring back the LIONS against the Cards and the clowns we have as our QBs here can’t score one measly touchdown against the 25th ranked D

  618. avatar Neon Leon 29 says:

I have been trying so hard not to say it, all year, but this truly was the same old jets. . .

  619. avatar Green Lantern says:

Yea do the usual Crazed New York Fan Reaction and lash the rookie…SMH!!! sometimes I simply hate the way you fans react to things. Henne wishes he was Sanchez by the way.

  620. avatar tyrone says:

we need a new oc for next year

  621. avatar Brian says:

    Schotty six

  622. avatar reality jet fan says:

Where are the dreamers . I want the happy blogs about how it is different now. Come on i look foward to them after the jet loss that they perfected and patented

  623. avatar jose garcia says:

NO MATTER HOW GREAT YOUR DEFENSE IS THEY GET TIRED. U R AKING TOO MUCH OF A DEFENSE TO NOT ALLOW ONE TD. THEY ALLOWED ONLY 10 POINTS AND THEY ARE OUT THERE FOR MORE THAN HALF THE TIME. NOT GOOD!!!

  624. avatar Ryan says:

its almost like just when we get excited the man up above or whoever you believe in comes down slaps us in the face and says “what are you thinking? your a Jets fan, stuff like this doesnt happen for you, you dont win that big game you need. We will bless you with the best defensive player in the league a dominant Defense and a very Good Running game, but right when its time for them to win that game , we remind you your a jets fan”

  625. avatar leon's legs says:

    henne > sanchez

    sanchez losses = NO, bills,jax,atl

  626. avatar kd bart says:

Lose and the same old clowns come out of the woodwork with the same old comments.

This game was loss because they couldn’t make three chip shot field goals. It’s not like they were 45+ yarders. All were under 40 yards. Make two of them and they win.

  627. avatar Harvlis says:

One thing that killed us was, letting Sanchez throw down the field into coverage. It led to three INT’s and it could have been worse, as he threw into coverage more than three times. He got lucky, a number of times. What happened to Green, Yellow, and Red. In bad conditions — what happened to red?

  628. avatar brian g. says:

    Why we lost the game.

    A) 3 penalties
    1) T. Jones
    2) D. Strickland
    3) Smith/Faneca
    B) 3 botched FG’s
    C) Sanchez inept play

  629. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Hey Sanchez made some mistakes just as Chad Henne has, but its not Chez fault this game. He made more than enough throws to win the game. The Jets left at LEAST 12 pts out there.

The D played great but blew the final drive, you cant keep running them out there after your offense just continues to Fack it all up out there. Its been the story all season

Just a blown oppurtunity by a team that doesnt deserve to make the playoffs. This team needs changes, not huge ones, but changes. They arent the Lions or Browns, but just on the line from being a good playoff contender to a mediocre 8-8 team

  630. avatar Phil T says:

The refs hurt us too. TJ’s foul was BS. Faneca’s was borderline. all crap.

I love this defense. And I like the makeup of this team. Just freaking pissed at the special teams today.

  631. avatar reality jet fan says:

Yes a new oc will fix everything cmon!

  632. avatar Chris J says:

Face it guys, it’s the same old Jets. This franchise is cursed, I don’t care what anyone says. We are like the Cubs of the NFL. The Dolphins were 1-15 a few years ago, have no stars, and play with heart. Tony Sparano can educate Rex on a thing or two. Being 42 years old, I know I will never see the Jets in a Super Bowl. hell, even the Cardinals have gone. Don’t vent, understand whatyou have. THis is a snake bitten franchise that will always give you hope,a nd then smash your heart into little pieces…

  633. avatar kellen clemens says:

    I woulda won this game

  634. avatar Hoz the jet says:

Sanchez lost another 1 for us today with his turnovers

  635. avatar tyrone says:

if you really look at this game the offense had no plays they were simple

  636. avatar ridinmywave says:

trade Sanchez and a 5th rounder for Henne, bye bye clemens……sign Chad pennington to reunite the kid with his mentor……and then were talkin business………..it makes all the sense in the world. matter of fact im gonna call tanni right now………hol on a sec

  637. avatar eric ainge says:

    me too

  638. avatar nyckage says:

Why is it that Chad Henne can bring his team back, but Sanchez can’t.

  639. avatar james says:

should have drafted crabtree and went with ainge or clemens

  640. avatar jetsrdone says:

kd bart = same old homer…..Come on man, get a clue!!!

  641. avatar Brian says:

Everyone who goes to the last home game should wear pink and have the words slip for BS. So when the lousy CBS announcers read they can talk about firing BS

  642. avatar reality jet fan says:

Sometimes us clowns are right and we are right most of the time. And by the way is anybody ever going to put anything on the head coach. He is not the dc he is the hc!

  643. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Reality Jet fan

Im sorry not everyone gets off on being an absolutely miserable pr*ck

We all saw what happened, it sucks.

I guess being a reality Jet fan is throwing a terrible loss in the faces of the people who actually SUPPORT the team

    Way to stay classy bro

  644. avatar brian g. says:

Henne just threw a horrible pick.
So stop with this whole Sanchez Henne talk

  645. avatar geoff says:

in an off beat sense, the jets keep me humble, maybe thats their destiny in relation to my existance. when i feel TOO good about myself, a little dose of jets football erases the excess and brings me back to center.

  646. avatar ridinmywave says:

lol…….and please, to all the sanchez disciples…i mean no harm…no viruses please

  647. avatar jetfanATL says:

How many INTs did our defense go right through their fingers? By my count at least 3

  648. avatar Harvlis says:

Bart, The reason we had to try three field goals was because the offense couldn’t finish any of their drives. We started the drives in good field position, almost every time. When you have to keep kicking field goals rather than scoring in the red zone — you eventually lose. Of course, those FG’s would have made it a different game but, in those conditions — you need to take it into the end zone. This happens over and over. Bottom line, Schotzy has no answer, when we get close.

  649. avatar jetfaninla says:

we had the ball in their territory 5 times, and we couldn’t muster any points at all.

and sanchez still slide head first.

i’m glad i’m not rex ryan, because literally i might leave the stadium in handcuffs after i punch out half the team. top of the list is feely.

im so beyond pissed right now. im even questioning how much longer do we start sanchez before we talk about drafting another qb (clearly at least another year).

  650. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Reality Jet fan

    U are certifiably crazy

  651. avatar Brian says:

B Schott = pink slip and a get in the behind

  652. avatar ESD says:

because Schotty and Feely couldn’t pull their stuff together.

Fire Schotty and get another kicker next season.

Why pass early with good rush?

    Thanx,

    ESD

  653. avatar kd bart says:

Henne jus threw an interception in OT. So much for Henne the great.

BTW, the Jets should’ve had at least 3 INTS if they had better hands. Leonerd should’ve had one for a TD.

  654. avatar reality jet fan says:

Im sorry but what the hell does brining back cp have to do with anything. Well said chris p

  655. avatar Dmazz says:

Why is Feely at fault? he missed one FG and thats because of a terrible hold by Clemens not to mention the other two that had nothing to do with Feely.

  656. avatar greg sec 130 says:

“Sometimes us clowns are right and we are right most of the time.”

    Pretty much says it all.

  657. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

Sucks how Gholston and Sanchez are going to be huge busts, who’s fault is that?

  658. avatar Brian says:

Jets fans unite and boycott shotty

  659. avatar reality jet fan says:

What does class have to do with typing facts. You postive fans fool yourselves. When have the jets ever made any positive fan look correct. Thet always let us down. We have seen that jet movie a million times.

  660. avatar jose garcia says:

3 INTOS BY NACHO LIBRE TODAY. WE NEED CLEMENS TO GO OUT THERE W/ A MASK AND HIS NUMBER.

  661. avatar Andy says:

Agreed you can’t kill Feely. He has been money all season. Every kicker misses field goals. Unfortunately it was this one. But Clemens should not have botched the snap. The game should have been tied.

  662. avatar brian g. says:

    AFC Wild card picture:
    5 Broncos
    6 Ravens 7-6
    Dolphins 7-7
    Jaguars 7-7
    Jets 7-7
    Titans 7-7
    Texans 7-7

    LOL this is crazy.

  663. avatar Dmazz says:

and Miami just lost …………. I’m sad

  664. avatar Brian says:

Call woody and tell them to get the pink slip ready for that tool that cannot call plays

  665. avatar Nate says:

Who are the possibilities for OC??

Sanchez lost it for us with his 3 turnovers, and then he graciously shakes his hand with matt ryan acting like its no bid deal they lost…
I was the one tellin my friends , watch the jets draft mark sanchez , watch him be great, we shoulda got jeff garcia!!

  666. avatar hangar says:

While I believe Sanchez will some day be the man…right now he needs to grow up.

  667. avatar Latinlawyer says:

Same old jets. Damn, I had such hope but when we hadbthat fg blocked I knew the fates were against us. We need a new off. Coordinator…. Someone who will throw short slants and play action deep. We won’t win against good teams playing 90%run.

  668. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

DMazz- in a game like that, you have to make a 38 yarder. When you are fighting for your playoff lives, high percentage points have to be cashed in.

He has been good, but this is huge and its happened to him with the Giants notably in Seattle, which is why he was sent packing

  669. avatar mike s. says:

Another bad loss and more krappy QB play – 3 INTs and QB rating of 50. This is not about Schotty… this is about the celebrity rookie still struggling against NFL defenses.
This team is going to miss the playoffs for one reason and one reason only… the celebrity rookie still looks like krap. Someone on that defense better pull this kid aside and remind him that he better get his ass in gear during the offseason, because this krap will not be accepted next year.

  670. avatar James in TN says:

Listen you can’t blame Rex because he didn’t hire Schitty, Tanny made him keep him. If you like Schotty so much go to the Community College in North dakota where he will get his vaunted HC job next year and watch him lose there too.

This game was ours, but our piss poor Offense gave it away. Who controls the Offense ? Schitty lover get a effing clue for xmas. Seriously Marty and Brian are such losers, eff that family!!!!!!

  671. avatar reality jet fan says:

Are there people on this website who actually thought the falcons were not going to score on that play at the end? I really want to know.

  672. avatar ridinmywave says:

on a serious note though……….personality wise, i really think Henne is better built for adversity and pressure compared to sanchez, the kid has alot more grit, perfect for NY pressure. i understand Mark is a rook but aside from the ints and inconsistent play it seems that management/coaching is always try to baby or shelter/teach the kid while everyone else on the team is tryng to win a SB. i have no resloution to this or REAL problem with whats goin on, but the evidence of sanchez’s thin skin and weak nerves just Irkes the $#!t outta me sometimes…….i mean cmon

  673. avatar nyckage says:

Mathematically we have a chance, but realistically, no shot, unless a lot of craziness happens.

  674. avatar Shamik says:

Hmm, if for some bizarre reason, Baltimore loses too, we’re all in the same boat and today will just be a wash. Of course, none of those other teams are facing an undefeated Peyton Manning with 10 days rest/studying.

  675. avatar AKA Jack says:

Wow. Are any of you guys watching the Packer-Steeler game?

Rodgers started off with 3 straight passes and missed them all.

    Better fire the O coordinator.

  676. avatar boozer says:

On the positive note, we had a rookie quarterback…what did you expect?

He’s shown signs of being able to make plays but also complete retardedness.

This defense is going to be good for a while. Leon and Jenkins will be back next year hopefully and Sanchez will have a year under his belt.
This could be a good team next year with some offensive tweaking.

On the negative side, we could have easily won 3 more games and be in the playoffs if we didn’t completely implode in one way or another.

  677. avatar jetsrdone says:

Brian, boycotting Schotty sounds good to me. If he is back next season I am not gonna watch a single game.

  678. avatar boozer says:

    Hey guys Miami lost. haha.

  679. avatar reality jet fan says:

I think shotty is awful. But again it starts with th hc. I mean a few funny lines and rex ryan is the answer.

  680. avatar kd bart says:

    I’m a homer?

No I recognize why they lost the game while they played while most of you fall back on your pre-conceived narrative of why they lost. I don’t go into the game already thinking that if they lose it’s got to be Schotty’s fault.

    They lost this game because:

    A) They missed 3 field goals
    B) Sanchez threw 3 Interceptions into coverage
    C) The Defense dropped at least 3 potential interceptions
    D) Bad penalties on Jones and Strickland. The first help kill the momentum of a drive. The second helped a drive move a long.

Eliminate all these mistakes or make the interceptions and they blow them out.

But if it’s easier to say it’s all Scotty’s fault, Be my guest. Nevermind what actually went on down on the field.

  681. avatar Jeff says:

Cant blame all those ints on Sanchez. Thank the wondrous Brian Schottengarbage.

    Seriously

  682. avatar Brian says:

Our offense loses too many games.

  683. avatar jetsrdone says:

BTW, I predicted weeks ago that Schotty was gonna eventually ruin the Jets season and cost them a spot in the playoffs….I hate to say it but I was right…….

  684. avatar eric ainge says:

i should be starting next week

  685. avatar greg sec 130 says:

“Sam Old Jets” and saying your franchise is cursed every time they lose is the easy way out of looking at the reality of the situation and dealing with rooting for a slightly below average NFL team.

This is a young and up-and-coming team that will have it’s first legit season in 2010. That we were given a little late run here was gravy. The defense may be ranked high but I don’t see why people think 2009 is the do or die year and that we’ll never see a defense like this again.

It is not a one year thing. It is a year one thing.

Awful loss, but step away from the ledge and stop using lame excuses like curses for a football loss.

  686. avatar Randy says:

O MY GOD GUYS THIS ACTUALLY ISNT OVER YET!!!!!!!!!!Im looking at the schedule and with the Titans beating the Dolphins we still have hope.If the Bears can somehow upset the Ravens and the Packers defeat the Steelers, the schedule works in our favor.

    Broncos @ Eagles (eagles favored)
Texans @ Dolphins (Texans are hot..They could win)
    Jaguars @ Patriots (Patriots favored)
Ravens @ STeelers(Steelers can win that game)
    Chargers @ Titans (Chargers favored)

If those games go our way…it would be a Tie with the Texans for the last spot and we are in because we won head to head with the Texans. We can actually be in the final spot as long as we win our game.

  687. avatar jay says:

im over it! thanks jets ill tell you on thing were not going nowhere with this punk behind center we are just pitiful i hope the colts throttle us next week im done. we better get a decent qb in the off season

  688. avatar reality jet fan says:

The kid was not ready and this pathetic franchise wasnt even prepared with a backup qb.

  689. avatar Shamik says:

God enough of this rookie quarterback business. Boo hoo, he’s from Cali and he’s cold too! Poor thing never saw snow and got confused! Bull-droppings. He was dreadful yet again. Apparently the sports gods just hate teams that end in -ETS this year. How else do you explain the Mets and Nets abominations this season and all the gut-punch Jet games? Change the damn names!

  690. avatar Randy says:

It sounds crazy but the scerios are in our favor. If the Bears can upset the Ravens we still are alive. Only upset we need to happen is the Bears vs Ravens.Every other game is in our favor.

  691. avatar Harvlis says:

    Jack,

You are riding a dead horse. All you have to do is watch the game again and watch our offense stall all day. The FG’s would have been big but, when your offense keeps having to kick field goals, instead of scoring TD’s, you will end up losing, which we did. There was one or two good calls all day. Other than that — Schott was trash.

  692. avatar Jason says:

Maybe if our wonderful defense didn’t let Atlanta march down the field at the end of the game like it was practice we’d have won.

    Just a thought.

But we can blame special teams or Sanchez or whatever. We were still ahead when our defense deflated at the end.

  693. avatar nate robinson says:

    trade me to the jets!

  694. avatar jetfan24 says:

Now we see how the QB from Southern Cal can handle the New York weather. Our D played unbelievable. Revis is the definition of a shutdown corner. Falcons shut down our running game stacking 9 guys in the box and was able to stop us on crucial 3rd downs.
Only the Jets could lose a game like this….The Browns would have closed this one out.

  695. avatar Ryan says:

Rex just said we have the nucleus to win a SB and hes absolutely right, the problem is theres no 1 obvious thing that the Jets need they will put them over the top, thats the GMs job to figure that out.

  696. avatar ridinmywave says:

Bart………..as sad as it is, its kinda obvious your really reaching if your gonn take this oppourtuntiy to bash Henne because he threw a pick……….the guy has shouldered that team since brown went down. i wish bad things on the dolphins as much as anybody on this blog but i like to see talent around the league and give respect where its due, sanchez couldnt do half of what henne is doin with that team right now. cmon man, too much kool aid is bad for your teeth, lol.

  697. avatar mike s. says:

Hell yeah… Kellen would have won this game.

  698. avatar Brian says:

When have you ever seen rhythm in this offense?

  699. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Reality Jet fan

U are a nut job. WHY DO YOU EVEN BOTHER? YOU KNOW EVERYTHING WILL ALWAYS TURN OUT BAD. GO ROOT FOR ANOTHER TEAM. THE JETS AND THE REST OF US DONT NEED YOU. WE ALL SAW WHAT HAPPENED

THE REST OF US ARE TRYING TO SEE IF A ROOKIE HC AND A ROOKIE QB CAN DEVELOP INTO SOMETHING SPECIAL. OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE SPOKEN WHICH NOW MEANS THE JETS WILL BE DOOMED FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY

YOUR OUTLOOK AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE JETS IS THE EPITOMY OF “SAME OLD JETS” AND WHY JETS FANS ARE A LAUGHING STOCK AND RIDICULED NATIONALLY.

YOU DONT LOOK AT WAYS TO TRY AND GET BETTER, YOU JUST CRITICIZE AND GO AFTER YOUR OWN TEAM. YOUR SOLUTION IS TO FIRE EVERYBODY AFTER EVERY TURN OF ADVERSITY. YOU PROBABLY NEVER WERE ON A TEAM IN YOUR LIFE, AND THE LAST GUY ID WANT IN A FOXHOLE WITH ME. CONGRATULATIONS THE JETS ARE STAYING HOME FOR THE PLAYOFFS AND YOU SAID IT ALL ALONG!!!

The football gods just hate the Jets. I guess people here will blame Sanchez, but the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and missed FGs cost the Jets this game. Period. The defense played great, except that at least 3 sure INTs were dropped and Tony Gonzalez, one of the best redzone TEs in NFL history, was uncovered on a 4th and goal play. IMO, Sanchez played well enough to win. He put his team in position to score 5 times, at least, but a stupid unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and 3 missed FGs. Just a bad loss by a team that has squandered too many opportunities this season. Also, besides the final defensive call, which I have to believe was a blown coverage by somebody–Gonzo can’t be uncovered on that play–I thought the play calls on offense and defense were solid. Just a game that the players on the field screwed up.

  701. avatar Randy says:

bottom line is this though…If Ravens win its over.

  702. avatar ridinmywave says:

jason…………please tell me you just tuned into the game with 3 min left in the 4th quarter and just decided to spew ignorance from what YOU saw and ill let by gones be by gones

  703. avatar Harris52 Fan says:

UNBELIEVABLE! While I was confident that we would win this game, I also thought that this is exactly the type of game the Jets would lay a goose egg. As soon as that field goal was blocked, I told myself “This is not going to be a pretty ending”. And sure enough, it was far from pretty. I don’t know what to say. I don’t think the Schotty is the problem. We just didn’t execute and played stupid football. I love TJ but that was just STUPID. Alan Faneca, WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT HIT? It moved us back ten yards, I mean we probably wouldn’t have come back anyways but still. I do like what I saw from Rhodes for once this year. Scott and Harris were brilliant. The whole defense really until that last drive but we’re the Jets, shit like this happens to us. One more thing, DO NOT BRING UP THE WILD CARD OR ANY PLAYOFF SCENARIOS FOR THAT MATTER. THIS TEAM IS DONE. Let’s think about the draft and other adjustments that need to be made this offseason. Talk to you guys in 2010

  704. avatar reality jet fan says:

What does this team do with any coach any players that take the sameoljets tag off them.Rex ryan is an embarassment. HE runs his mouth when they win and then reads stats to us when they lose.

  705. avatar brian g. says:

randy i love your optimism but what makes you think we’ll win our games.

  706. avatar jay says:

Mark is a bum rookie or not dumb mistakes PLAYOFFS are you kidding me we suck we can win when we need it bring back ray lucas.

  707. avatar James in TN says:

The defense played awesome and though wore out gave us a chance. Can’t blame the D. If your team can’t score in the double digits you need a) a new game plan ie..OC or b) 11 new offensive players.

Now which of these 2 options do you think makes more sense?

    Bye Suckassinheimer!!!!!

  708. avatar Shamik says:

Bring in Jason Campbell, he’s sneaky good and if we make Callahan our OC, we should be golden.

  709. avatar Brian says:

Who has ever seen this offense put games way?

  710. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

This team would be in the playoffs with Brett Favre, but Woody The Weasel was too cheap to pay him for another season.

Who I pity is those dumb JETS fans who paid PSL fees because Woody The Weasel told them it was an investment. Sounds a little like I can sell you the Brooklyn bridge. As JC Fields once said, there is a sucker born everyday. And Woody found quite few.

  711. avatar mike s. says:

you schotty haters need to buy a TV and start watching the games. The rookie QB is at the heart of the problem. Maybe these are the growing pains that he needs to go thru to get to greatness. And maybe he will never develop and be a complete bust. Only time will tell. But this team is not losing because of play calling or poor offensive preparation. The kid just is not that good (at least not yet).

  712. avatar reality jet fan says:

The last person you would want in a foxhole is shotty. Its amazing is the ‘jets will be fine” website. Which is crazy assuming the worst or the best with this teams history?

  713. avatar jay says:

id rather have campbell Mark is a waste

  714. avatar Shamik says:

Hey Eddie, Jet fans are laughing stocks because we choose to live and die with this joke of a franchise.

  715. avatar kd bart says:

Did he throw an interception in OT when his team had a chance to win the game or not? Was it a bad throw or not? You do know that twice this season Sanchez brought the Jets back in the fourth quarter to take the lead late only to have the defense fail on the next series and lose the game.

Sanchez has played like what he is. A rookie who only started 16 games in college. He’s had his moments but he’ mostly played poor. He should get better with experience. The problem is not having a backup to turn to when you could’ve use him. They need an experience backup next season.

  716. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Jack
At this point your just obnoxious. Its not about 3 passes in the beginning of a game. This is years of the same thing with Schotty.

I understand its not always Schotty’s fault, I give him credit when I think it is due.

The way you defend the guy who has never really accomplished ANYTHING in the league as a coordinator is just wrong. Im sorry but a lot more people see what I see than what you see

  717. avatar Harvlis says:

Reality — You are in a dream world. Rex is doing a great job. He is controlling the defense. The problems are on offense. His players love him and play hard for him. Concentrate your hate on Schottenheimer like the rest of us who know where the problem lies.

  718. avatar Jason says:

well, forget about the missed tackles on the last drive, or the fact that we once again missed an opportunity at an INT.

lets focus on the offense, because that’s what we do here.

THe defense lost the game on the last drive. end of story.

  719. avatar brian g. says:

If we end up in a tie at 9-7 with the Jags, Dolphins, Texans and Titans, we would win the tiebreaker. The only problem is the Ravens.

  720. avatar jay says:

hey Mark go eat a hotdog you BUM!!!!!!!!!!!! that all your worth.

  721. avatar Brian says:

You need to get touchdowns on a cold day. Schotty can not plan a game on offense. Since we are eliminated, we need to start shopping for a new offensive coordinator. I have been losing my lunch over this the last 3 years.

  722. avatar Shamik says:

Greatness, from Sanchez? That’ll be the day. Knowing our luck, he’ll get into a career ending taxi accident like the last guy named Sanchez who we thought was going to amount to something.

  723. avatar reality jet fan says:

I start every season excited and then REALITY sets in.I am wrong alot and i play monday morning qb like everyone else. But i would have bet it all that the falcons were scoring. And i am a jet forever!

  724. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

I think they should can Schott. Terrible game plan on offense. And what about iron hands Kelly Clemens.

  725. avatar jetsrdone says:

I’ll give Rex another chance next season but not Schotty….The guy has been here since Mangini…NO MORE SCHOTTY!!!!!! He makes every QB he works with worse (it’s a fact–look it up)….He even turned Pennington (one of the most accurate QBs in NFL history) into an interception machine!!!!

  726. avatar Jeff says:

I will say one thing. Chad Pennington couldnt throw a pass 15yds from the LOS, but he was able to always find an outlet receiver to gain 5yds.

If there was a way for Sanchez to find an outlet since he only looks downfield then we at least can consistently move the chains.

Moments like this is where we really miss Leon Washington. W/o him we havent had a chance to get the running backs passes out of the backfield.

  727. avatar jay says:

the colts are going to kill us put o’ connell in next week.

  728. avatar Shamik says:

Brian, how would we win the tiebreaker over the Phins and Jags? They swept us.

  729. avatar reality jet fan says:

I am pretty sure that rex was hired as a hc. Not the dc. Its his ship not his and shottys.

  730. avatar Ryan says:

Eddie DiGio: your absolutely right I just try and ignore guys like that, i remember when Rhodes got benched and than came back with 2 Picks that week people were analyzing his interceptions saying how easy they were. Its like what team do you root for? When you start almost rooting for guys on your team to play bad just so the point you made earlier in the day is correct than its time to just stop being a fan of that team.

I will always be a Jets fan and I actually like this particular team especially most of the defense, its just when the team is overachieving and in the playoff race we forget, we have a Rookie QB and Head coach and were supposed to go 7-9 at best this year. The defense ended up being better than anyone could of imagined, sanchez through more picks that we thought he’d have the opportunity to throw and the whole year in general was different than what most predicted. They were better that people thought at the beginning of the year but worse that what we thought they were at about mid season.

  731. avatar reality jet fan says:

    Shamik that is exactly right.

  732. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Harvlis-

And if you think the OC lost this game you know less about football than I gave you credit for.

The Jets players, the guys who get paid 6 and 7 figure salaries to do their jobs, left at least a dozen points on the field today. More than enough to win.

You clowns who keep blaming this on the Schott fail to either acknowledge that or acknowledge how that affects the flow of the game. This game should not have been in question after halftime but the players made too many mistakes.

Most of you were thrilled when Ryan was hired because he was going to bring a low scoring offense and a shut down defense. That doesn’t mean a totally inept offense, they have to score a few points a game and take advantage of easy opportunities. That kind of game plan got us a 20+ point win with a terrible QB because we didn’t screw up in scoring position. We could have done the same today with a raw rookie who makes at least 5 bonehead plays every damn week. The defense actually lowered their league leading points against today.

But still, you keep whining that this some how about coaching without admitting the obvious. The players lost this game today. Period.

Keep pretending that if we only had an offensive genius at OC like Sid Gillman he would have somehow transformed Sanchez from what many of us said he was from day 1, a raw rookie who was going to cost us big this year into Tom Brady.

And while your at it, keep pretending the offense didn’t put this team in a position to win today. It won’t be true but you will feel better about yourself.

  733. avatar NickelDogBlitz says:

I hear Joe Beningo right now.

  734. avatar Mr. Pick Six says:

Whatever as long as the Pats don’t win the Superbowl, I will consider this a successful year. Sadly watching the Patriots lose is the only thing I can enjoy as a Jet fan. Were ****ing pathetic.

  735. avatar jay says:

im sick of it every dam year!

  736. avatar SackDance99 says:

How exactly was this loss Sanchez’s fault? Did he get any of the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties? Did he hold or kick any of the FGs? I would like a Sanchez critic to explain how he cost the Jets this game? Maybe a more experienced QB would have had fewer mistakes, but the mistakes that cost the Jets points were the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and missed FGs. In fact, I don’t recall any wide open Jets receivers that Sanchez missed. Pinning this loss on Sanchez is just incredibly unfair.

  737. avatar James in TN says:

Jason, please get a designated driver cause you are highhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The defense was the only reason we had a chance.

Also, put someone besides Cotch out there fielding punts. He is very vulnerable out there.

    Also Brian effing Schottinheimer sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Keller played better today.

Sanchez played like a rookie who was asked to throw in howling winds by a moron named suckenheimer.

HELLO look at Favre with a good OC!!!!
    as opposed to last year.

    Get a clue.

    Seriously.

    Its over.

I just want to end the colts undefeated season as a consolation prize.

We can’t out score them or the Browns.

  738. avatar kd bart says:

    Sack Dance 99,

You’re one of the few who actually watches the game. Make the FGs and interceptions and cut out the bad penalties and this is a blowout. Should’ve been at least 13-3 at the half.

Once again, it reminds me of the last home game against Detroit in 2000. When if the Jets won, they were in the playoffs. They let a bad Detroit team hang around all day and got beaten 10-7 on a TD in the fourth.

  739. avatar reality jet fan says:

Only the new york jets could be number 1` in d and number 1 in rushing and be 500 hundred. And im sure we all knew miami would lose because we lost>

  740. avatar reality jet fan says:

yES A NEW OC AND CHAD PENNINGTON WILL MAKE EVERYTHING OK.

  741. avatar jetsrdone says:

reality jet fan, Rex was hired with the condition that Schotty be retained as OC and have full control of the offense….Rex was finally allowed by Tannenbaum to get involved in some capacity only a few games ago when he was permitted to sit in the offense meetings…Blame Tannenbaum and not Rex…Rex just wanted a HC job and probably didn’t know how bad a OC Schotty truly is…

  742. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Shamik,

No buddy. There are actually articles published by sports writers from other cities commenting on how obnoxious some Jet fans act.

In fact, it was a long running joke on ESPN running tapes of Jet fans reacting after draft picks.

Same goes for you, if its soooo bad go somewhere else. Other Jets fans will buy the tickets. Winning doesnt happen overnight and I personally like to give teams a chance to try and develop rather than having to be instantly gratified all the time. Sometimes the crappy things that happen along the way, make the ultimate goal so much greater and satisfying at the end.

Sorry if I dont just give up after every little bump in the road, my nature is to keep fighting the battle. I played the game my whole life and it humbles people more than anything else I ve ever seen. It also takes time to learn to win consistently when you have young or new, inexperienced but talented people at key spots. A lot of stuff is new for this team as a whole so I knew there would be some growing pains. Somewhere along 3-0, a lot of people forgot what this team is in REALITY

  743. avatar Dmazz says:

We need to change the City/team name soon – I just think it will do something positive for the franchise.

I’m campaigning for the New Jersey Knights. Get rid of the loser colors the loser team name start fresh.

  751. avatar ridinmywave says:

  752. avatar NickelDogBlitz says:

reality jet fan, tell me who u think should coach the team.

    Cmon.

    Tell me a name,

Because I love Rex Ryan as a coach. I’m scared to death he’ll die of a heart attack in the middle of a game, but he will be the best head coach out there once he learns the way of overseeing the entire football team.

  753. avatar reality jet fan says:

Its not shotty its the jets dna.

  754. avatar SackDance99 says:

Also, how about somebody acknowledging that the Meadowlands is one of the worst places to play in winter because of the gusting winds. When you factor in Sanchez’s inexperience, the weather conditions and the failure of the running game to control the LOS, Sanchez’s performance was very good. Sure, Matt Ryan was better (that’s why some of us wanted the Jets to trade up last season to get him), but Sanchez will only improve after more games in bad weather.

  755. avatar WW85 says:

Any of you who blame Schotty for today’s loss are nuts. We rushed 60% of the time. Sanchez stared down his receivers in the worst way-you could see the Ints before he let the ball go. This is why I defended KC last week.

KC should have started this year-the Defense deserved to make the playoffs. I was one of the people who thought Sanchez should start but I was DEAD WRONG. He is absolutely awful and I think we need a vet to come in 2010 to teach Sanchez. KC would have won this game today.

    Garcia?

kerry rhodes said it best, the jets defense shouldnt have to make the final stop, the game shouldnt have to be so close, basically he is saying the offense lost the game,i hope it creates a rift in the locker room,so that idiot gm can finally fire schitty and his snemic play calling.

  761. avatar Dmazz says:

  763. avatar SackDance99 says:

    Mike S-

I’m challenging you, tell me what Sanchez did that cost the Jets this game. And, when you do, his mistakes have to be more important than the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and missed FGs. I’ll be waiting.

  764. avatar reality jet fan says:

If they lost to colts and bengals i could have lived with that . but knowing the importance of this game what a disgrace.

  765. avatar Brian says:

The Jets are like Beavis And Butthead with B Schitt. They just can’t score.

  766. avatar Harvlis says:

    Jack,

I forgot more about football than you will ever know.

Our OC calls every single play in and has full control of the QB. Sanchez can audible at the line but, the OC controls the flow of the offense. We started with field position all day long. We went nowhere. Why? Because the play calling was so obvious, the Falcons were in our backfield all day. How about when we were down on the goal line, on third down, and Schottenheimer had the whole team bunched together. He had us run right up the middle, no deception or trickery, and we ran right up the middle into a mass of humanity for no gain. Was that Sanchez or Ryan — no, pure Schottenheimer. He took away all of our options and gave the play no chance to work. Great call.

  767. avatar joey says:

sanchito makes me sick,he always talks about been smart with the football, and yet he keeps on turning the ball over and over, wtf, make up your mind burrito boy.

  768. avatar Dmazz says:

    SackDance99,

Mark played a huge part in losing this game. Why? because of keeping our dominating defense out on the field constantly!

  769. avatar reality jet fan says:

Everyone have a happy holiday! The gangreen grinch who stole christmas.

  770. avatar reality jet fan says:

    JETS DNA= LOSING

  771. avatar WW85 says:

Exactly how did Schotty call a bad game? We played to our strengths pounding the ball & the Falcons stuffed 8 in the box. Every time we tried to pass, Sanchez stared the ball into his receiver for the easiest picks I can imagine. Sanchez cost us this game big time. SANCHEZ COST US 3-4 GAMES THIS YEAR. Sure, we can pin it on special teams too, but Sanchize is so insanely careless.

  772. avatar Matt says:

Does anyone realize that Sanchez was never given a designed checkdown threat/option at any point this season? Screens….high percentage short crossing routes etc to build a rhythym before taking shots further down the field…etc The O-Coordinator basically forced Sanchez to throw into tight spaces on every pass attempt he had this year. That is insane. It is amazing how well Sanchez did with the limited options he was given. Every other QB in the NFL has checkdown and higher percentage options to help build rhythym and move the chains. Sanchez had to throw 10-15 yard darts into tight windows on every real passing play… it’s like when Leon went down , they threw out half the normal passing playbook..ridiculous..Schott needs to go immediately

  773. avatar James in TN says:

Brian good beavis and butthead reference needed the laugh. LMAO

  774. avatar jay says:

THANKS JETS FOR BLOWING ANOTHER ONE SEE HOW BAD WE CAN BLOW IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS BUMS! AND MARK GO TO HE** PUNK! SORRY JETS FANS IM JUST FEDUP>

  775. avatar jetsrdone says:

reality jet fan, I have to agree with you on that…I wanted the same three guys to be the coach because after Groh, Herm, and Mangini I was sick of rookie HCs..Rex was my first choice for a rookie head coach though and I’ll give him one more season….But no more chances for Schotty!!!!!!!!!! I hope his father Marty calls some team in need of a head coach (preferably Buffalo) and talks them into hiring his boy Brian….

  776. avatar joey says:

lol at the jets are like beavis and butthead and cant score, that was soo funny, yet so true

  777. avatar SackDance99 says:

No way KC would’ve won this game today. He never would’ve gotten the Jets in the redzone and he would never have hit Braylon for the TD bomb. The Jets might’ve been shut out because the Falcons stopped the run. This loss just was not Sanchez’s fault.

  778. avatar klecko71 says:

m golden…..you can pretty much change your name to “i am a loser”….

wrong QB?? reclamation coach?? ur IQ is real high……good luck with the finger painting class.

now on to the simple things:
cut kellen clemons the day after the season ends…he is a loser…..

and what chapter in the book does this loss go into??

  779. avatar Harvlis says:

    Sack,

Sanchez was horrible today. He threw into coverage all day long. He was lucky not to have five INT’s. This is not only Sanchez’ fault. Schottenheimer forgot his Green, Yellow, and Red program. In this type of weather — no way should Sanchez have been forcing it into coverage. We never established the run. Why — our plays and formations were obvious.

  780. avatar Sad Day says:

Well, it was an interesting season while it lasted, now lets start playing some questionable players and start cutting the fat off this team, we need to trim down on the dead weight starting with the offence of coordinator, Schotty NEEDS TO GO its time!!!! Then lets give Ainge and O’Connell a look because lets face it, Sanchez under this system was not good, as a matter of fact if he was awful, and under a new OC and system he might be just as awful, if he was a Veteran QB we would have called for his removal, also I question his durability, this may be another Penny situation, you all know, injury prone. Clemons and Gholston, thank you for your time we hope you find a career doing something you love because it sure isn’t football, at least it doesn’t show, pack your bags because you 2 and a few others are gone after the season.

  781. avatar nate robinson says:

we need to get charlie ward out of retirement and play qb for da jets!

  782. avatar kd bart says:

Clemens would’ve won today? Are you kidding? He’s ptiful. The mistake was not having an experience QB on the roster this season.

Sanchez is a rookie who only started 16 games in college and often plays like one. That’s like a season and a half. He should get better with experience. Hell, Peyton Manning was an interception machine as a rookie.

  783. avatar Matt says:

Does anyone realize that Sanchez was never given a designed checkdown threat/option at any point this season? Screens….high percentage short crossing routes etc to build a rhythym before taking shots further down the field…etc The O-Coordinator basically forced Sanchez to throw into tight spaces on every pass attempt he had this year. 784. avatar Matt says:

Does anyone else agree with that?

  785. avatar jetsrdone says:

Lay off of Sanchez….He’s a rookie with the worst OC in NFL history…Favre was runner-up for MVP behind Brady’s greatest QB season in NFL history then went to the Jets the next season and was awful and is now (the very next season) an MVP candidate with Minnesota….See the connection??????

  786. avatar scjoe says:

At what point do we cut through the politics and take a good look at Ainge? This season has already been “GIVEN” away, so why not right now?

  787. avatar James in TN says:

    Yes Matt, you speak truth.

  788. avatar joey says:

the offense ruined our season and shot at the playoffs, when you have the number one defense you should be in the playoffs, period,i hope you are reading woody and tannenbauma

  789. avatar klecko71 says:

good points matt….. seems like when leon went out so did half of our plays.

we dont screen anymore at all……

we are tortured…. but we have a great future….
whoever said “i give rex one more year” is crazy!! jetsrdone….u cant be serious on that quote =)

schotty sometimes looks great…..but throwing 34 times today, yes the running game was slowed, but didnt see enough safe throws out of the 34… although sanchez made some great throws as well.

    clemens botched a perfect snap….then gets 2 high ones down….such a loser….

  790. avatar scjoe says:

jetrdone, what do you see in Sanchez so far, that leads you to believe he will be any more successful next season?

  791. avatar Daniel says:

So we’re out of the playoffs. It’s really not that bad. If we’d gotten in we probably wouldn’t have lasted long and people would still say fire Rex and bring in another QB.

With a rookie HC and QB we were expected to only win 5 or 6 games and finish bottom of the division. The seaon has been a success and next year Sanchez should show a big improvement. The same goes for Rex who I think has improved this year.

  792. avatar jetsrdone says:

Matt, you make a great point….That’s what I’ve been saying all along….Don’t bother trying to convince people like AKA Jack….For some reason they think Schotty can do no wrong….They have to be Schotty’s friends or relatives…..

  793. avatar Pete Carroll says:

    I told you so.

  794. avatar ridinmywave says:

bart…i can read pretty well. winning drives are what counts..period. Any qb in the leaue would love to have the privelage Sanchez has right now regarding defenses. No defenses in the league has had to work as hard as ours to try and make up for turnover after turnover by their qb.

So how bout you check your facts first. henne has actually put his team on his shoulders when being asked to air the ball out and led his team from marginal deficits to VICTORY without half the weapons that mark has……so whats your point?…we still have the best d in the league despite having to work twice as hard as anyody else because of bonehead play on the offense.

the only game i say the d let get away was the first miami game whe they ran the wildcat (it was the wildcat for christ sake) on us all crazy and rookie rex didnt know the meaning of time out. other than that…..your babbling

  795. avatar kd bart says:

” no way should Sanchez have been forcing it into coverage”

That’s Sanchez’s main problem. He clues in on and throws to one receiver too often. All the interceptions were thrown into double coverage. He doesn’t check down and go through his progressions. There are receivers open but he doesn’t see them or go looking for them. He has to learn that.

  796. avatar tyrone says:

    its not over yet

  797. avatar scjoe says:

Let’s not forget that this is the third game where the defense has come up short with the game on the line, Mia and Jak earlier

  798. avatar WW85 says:

KC woudn’t have thrown the picks grinding our Defense into the ground. How many times can the Defense be asked for a huge stop against a really good QB? I used to defend Sanchez but now I see what a horrible mistake it was to start him this year.

Sack-I agree with you on the TD bomb, but this is a ball control team-WE ARE UNDEFEATED WHEN WE WIN THE TAKEAWAY BATTLE. WE HAVE 0 VICTORIES WHEN WE LOSE THE TAKEAWAY BATTLE. THAT IS SOMETHING MAJOR TO PONDER. UNDEFEATED WHEN WE DONT TURN IT OVER MORE THAN THE OTHER TEAM.

  799. avatar Shamik says:

Lol, Eddie, if I gave up that easily on my teams I wouldnt be much of a NY fan, would I? I have no problems being patient for a team that just doesnt have it in them to win. This team DOES! They easily have the talent to go mano a mano against any other team in the league. But they don’t. Every damn year, they fall short not because they got beat, but largely because they shoot themselves in the foot. When your team is built to win NOW as this Jets team is, I refuse to sit idly by and twiddle my thumbs as our retard QB and OC poops on our season by throwing pick after pick. Its been 40 years, we Jet fans have been patient enough.

  800. avatar ridinmywave says:

me lie, women lie, numb……well, you know the rest…….so dont disrespect the Defense, ecpescially with big jinx missing

  801. avatar Ryan says:

honestly I really wanna see Sanchez next year thats when your REALLY supposed to see what kind of QB you have, and for people trying to compare Sanchez to Stafford please stop both threw a ton of picks this year, Stafford would be leading the league if he didnt get hurt. Im not ready to make that statement yet

  802. avatar Sad Day says:

Sanchez is getting way too much slack, he is not a rookie anymore, he has 14 games into the season, he has actually regressed, I’m not going to give up on the guy, but he may be our Matt Lienart, or J Russell, we need a competent veteran,

  803. avatar scjoe says:

I think it is about time to stop blaming Shotty for this mess, it wasn’t him out there throwing INTs, taking sacks when he should get rid of the ball, bone head penalties, etc.

  804. avatar kd bart says:

The Jax game falls on the defense also. They were a no show in the first half.

  805. avatar Brian says:

I made the beavis comment because I need to laugh at the sickness that is B Schittyness. It is worse than having the runs.

  806. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

I DVRed the game and went back fast fowarding through the key plays

1- Chez made more than enough throws to win the game, the last pick was pure desperation because they were 3rd and long
2- Schotty didnt have his worst game as an OC, but he is as MEDIOCRE as they come. There are problems with the way he operates in the red zone. My problem with him is I think we can do BETTER with Callahan
3- Penalities and problems in the kicking game lost the game. NOT REX RYAN. Sorry, Bill Cowher, John Gruden or Mike Shannhan wouldnt have held the FG snap, made a 38 yarder or contained the rush on a FG.

This team is very close to being a playoff team, and the Falcons are not the Bad News Bears out there. It sucks they lost, but they played hard and solid almost the whole game, but you cannot take points off the board with basic FG procedures and penalties that are just RETARDED. They let a capable professional football team hang around after outplaying them the whole game, its not meant to be this year, but the core of our team is young, and if we dont make the playoffs this year, its not the end of the world, we have good players here that just need more time

  807. avatar Harvlis says:

    Matt,

I agree with you but, it is not only the lack of a short passing game. Of course, an occasional, screen, slant, or comebacker could help but, it is the obvious formations, the lack of motion in the backfield, the poor usage of our offensive weapons, the lack of a game plan based on the opponent., etc…. This comes from having an OC who doesn’t have a clue.

  808. avatar jay says:

hey Mark hope you sleep well tonight great job today!Punk.

  809. avatar tyrone says:

if baltimore looses with 2 games left we go back to the start of today it isnt over

  810. avatar scjoe says:

I agree with Sad Day thet Sanchez has regressed, BIG TIME, when you look at his first three games.

  811. avatar ridinmywave says:

yeah, they were a no show after they saw the qb turn it over the first play of the game. lol

  812. avatar steviek says:

    Whatever.

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen this same game again and again over the years.

I can write very long list.

I’m sorry, I’m diehard… Rex can say whatever he wants, but it is the same ole Jets until they prove otherwise.

  813. avatar jetsrdone says:

scjoe, I know what you’re saying but I’m going to chalk it up to his poor play being a result of an awful OC who made one of the greatest QBs of all-time look bad….Also, Sanchez does show resiliency and a lot of heart…Sanchez also has a much stronger arm than was reported by scouts….I think Schotty asked way too much of a rookie QB playing under the spotlight in NY…

  814. avatar Shamik says:

Seriously, whose bright idea was it to bring in a guy who’s spent his entire life in the sun to a place where you absolutely MUST win games in the winter outdoors. At least Brady was a long-time starter in relatively cold Michigan. Instead we get a guy who started only 16 creampuff games in college. If I could go back in time, I’d draft him and flip him to the ‘Skins for Campbell and a pick.

  815. avatar mike s. says:

Eddie – can you check your video to see if Sanchez made a bad read on the final INT. It looked like Cotchery was open on the high route, but that Sanchez tried to force the ball into Edwards on the under route.

  816. avatar tyrone says:

9=7 would be good for the year and i would say successful

  817. avatar ridinmywave says:

ha!……if i could go back in time id tell them to draft warren sapp, lol….

  818. avatar scjoe says:

If Baltimore losses? Sure, all we have to do is beat Indy on the road, and Cinn at home, how do we do that with the QB play we have?

  819. avatar WW85 says:

Schotty is known for too many pre snap formations, motions, etc. Favre complained about it & they stopped doing it. He also cut it down the 2nd half this year bc Sanchez was too slow picking it up, so we are now in these basic formations bc Sanchez cant handle it.

WE need a Veteran next year. I want to know what vet gets dumped or wants to start when the season is over. Sanchez is only getting worse.

  820. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Narvlis-

    >>Jack,
    >>I forgot more about football than you will ever know.

No doubt. That explains why where football is played on your planet it is obvious how it’s the OC’s fault when the offense puts the special teams in place 3 times (not including the time when Jones takes yet another stupid penalty to take them out of scoring position) and they get 0 points you blame the loss on the OC and can’t understand how all those screw ups upset the flow of play calling.

Truly, you are a gifted football mind.

  821. avatar jvsvn says:

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Three bad interceptions, 3 missed field goals, and giving up the winning TD drive in the last 2 minutes. They failed in every phase of the game. It doesn’t get any uglier than that.

  822. avatar tyrone says:

    14 balt 7 chicargo

  823. avatar Shamik says:

The Jets were….WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!

  824. avatar kd bart says:

Jacksonville first four drives week 10: 3 TDs and a miised FG and a 250 yards of offense. Yeah, that’s all on Sanchez.

  825. avatar scjoe says:

jetsrdone, I just don’t see the accuracy or the strong arm that he is said to have, and the decision making looks below average, at best.

  826. avatar Daniel says:

    Shamik,

I think Campbell would have been too average without much upside. We’d have been left wanting more and looking for someone else in a few years.

Sanchez will be fine with the climate. Favre came out of S. Miss. and became the complete cold weather qb in GB.

  827. avatar WOJF says:

comment 882, the depth of despair is impressive.

Plenty of blame to go around, in the end they are what their record says they are, mediocre, for a reason.

Shephard should sit the next two games if it saves us a draft pick.

  828. avatar Harvlis says:

    WW85,

The reason we can’t win, if we lose the turnover battle, is because our offense is not capable of overcoming that.

We have one of the best O-lines in the league, two solid RB’s and an all-pro FB, a dangerous TE, two upper tier wideouts, and an outstanding jack of all trades, yet we don’t get it done. Why? We have a rookie QB and one of the worst OC’s in the league.

  829. avatar james says:

Right now we have the 3rd worst QB in the league. Disagree? Then name me 3 that are worse.

  830. avatar Brian says:

Does anyone know anybody in the Jets front office. I need to call them to ask them to axe schitty. I want to hear those insiders on ESPN say B Schitty is going to be canned.

  831. avatar WOJF says:

Harvlis, that o line looked less than stellar today.

  832. avatar kd bart says:

And Campbell played at that well known cold weather school, Auburn.

  833. avatar Sad Day says:

I agree with Shamik, we took a guy that is from the sunny west coast, plays a west coast run n gun style offence and expect him to play Shottys ****ty system, we should have tailored a playbook from USC.

  834. avatar peter says:

All I gotta say is.. SNACKCHEZ. SNACK LOUD SNACK PROUD.

  835. avatar scjoe says:

Don’t get me wrong , I am not putting ALL the blame on Sanchez, a lot of it yes, the defense played well, but couldn’t stop them when the game was on the line, for the third time this season.

  836. avatar Jets = Misery says:

Whatever you want to say, the Jets had them at the end of the game. All they needed was for the #1 ranked defense in the NFL to stop the Falcons once with four minutes and seventy three yards left to go, and they couldn’t do it.

Yes, the offense struggled. Yes the special teams struggled. But when it came down to it, we had the Falcons where we wanted, and the defense choked again. Just like they did against the Dolphins, just like they did against the Bills, just like they did against the Jaguars. They play well all game, but as soon as it’s a pressure situation, they fall apart.

  837. avatar tyrone says:

the killer was that lobed throw on 3down that strickland should of intercepted

  838. avatar SackDance99 says:

    Harvlis,

I saw a different game. Yes, he threw into double coverage and shouldn’t. That’s on him. And, I agree that Schotty has an annoying tendency to call pass plays that bunch receivers. But, how about all of the good passes? The bomb to Edwards, the shuttle pass to Woodhead, the thread the needle pass to Keller, etc. Given the weather conditions and the lack of a running game, I thought Sanchez played well. Certainly well enough to win. The QB gets all the focus, but there were a lot of goats in this game. For instance, how about Jones’ unsportsmanlike conduct call that basically nullified a 19 yard gain that put the ball deep in Falcons’ territory? How about James Dearth and his bad snaps? How about KC and his bad placements? How about Feely and his bad kick? How about Leonhard who was looking for a pick 6 before he had an INT? How about Strickland’s terrible unsportmanslike conduct call on the Falcons’ game winning drive? How about Faneca’s penalty on the Jets’ last drive? And, that’s just the highlights. The difference between Matt Ryan, who was also staring down his WRs and Sanchez was that the Falcons’ D made the most of their INT chances, while the Jets missed theirs.

  839. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Hey Shamik

Sanchez didnt lose the game for the Jets, if you couldnt see that, then you just blame the QB everytime something goes wrong.

What are you a 50 year old college freshmen? You said yourself you are still in school. Im in my 30s and have seen MUCH MUCH worse than you EVER have as a Jet fan.

This team has it in them to win NOW? They have a rookie QB and HC and as unproven a commodity as they come in the offensive coordinator. NEVER< EVER, EVER has a rookie HC and rookie QB won a championship in the first year. Some of the guys on this team who are key players have NEVER won a PLAYOFF game, and now they are ready to take on seasoned teams?

If you have ever played football before you'd know that talent doesnt get it done alone. Sometimes you need years in a system to master it. The team has new pieces at key spots and it takes time. The key is giving that talent time to gel, learning from experiences and moving foward from them. You dont just plug in moving pieces. Its a process
Its not Madden, you have to learn how to survive in pro football, then learn how to win, then learn to win year after year.

You obviously havent been around 40 years long enough to realize this. So just keep changing the parts until they WIN NOW. But dont give me the 40 year sob story bro. Your first Jet memory cant be any worse than Rich Kotite, and you probably werent even old enough to know the difference

  840. avatar scjoe says:

Does anyone here see anything that says Sanchez will improve at all for next season?

  841. avatar WOJF says:

Yes, Sanchez sucks right now, thats part of the equation, reminding me more of browning nagle every game, but the everyday commenters and moderators will never agree and will blame it all on Schotty.

20INTs and counting, at some point the press will turn on him, maybe this week, maybe not.

  842. avatar toro rosso says:

the kid does not have the mental capacity manage a critical NFL game yet. the experiment go youth vs experience backfired big time and with nothing new, there are question marks everywhere. woody and mike don’t get it,wonder how their stomchs feel right now, surly at this juncture we are all destined for stomach ulcers.really, pepto or tums helped me before ,but today and I’m gonna wonder around in the snow until my brain freezes. it’s probably not meant to be ,perhaps the new stadium might remove the awful jinx.

  843. avatar kd bart says:

    SackDance99,

Revis should’ve had an interception the play before the TD. You got to make those.

  844. avatar NamVetJet says:

WW85—I think picking up a veteran QB is the right move. I have not seen any improvement in Sanchez since the beginning of the year. I am not saying that we should give up on him—he does have moments when he looks good—but I think we need to hedge our bet a little bit. With this defense you do not a big time QB—just one who is competent and can manage a game. I don’t want to go through another 16 game learning season—-if there is not solid improvement you need to make a move.

  847. avatar tyrone says:

another drop pass intercepted by leonard sure for a touchdown that along with the miss FG gave me a hint that we were going to loose this game though i was hoping i was wrong

  848. avatar scjoe says:

Two years in a row now where horrible QB play cost the playoff’s, back to back 20 INT seasons. The #1 rush team, the #1 defense, #1 pass defense, it all means nothing without at least “decent” QB play

  849. avatar WOJF says:

Reality is they should never have drafted a QB this year with a veteran win now team. A competant veteran QB has this team in the playoffs and probably winning the division.

He may or may not be the franchise QB some envisioned, only time will tell, but there is no doubt this season has been sacrificed on his behalf.

If he ends up taking us to the super bowl down the line it will have been worth it, if he ends up being Jay Cutler or worse Browning Nagle it was a lost opportunity.

  850. avatar jay says:

colts will just toy with us only way we stand a chance is if they start there practice qb.

  851. avatar poobag says:

sancez is sooooooo bad i wish i could have had a 6 for 8 clemons game right now for 50 yards rather than watch sanchez throw the ball away every game.

  852. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Mike S

I cant really see what he is reading downfield, when the ball gets there, what you said looks like it might be true, but Im not sure if its just the safety coming off J Co to make a play on Braylon cause the ball was in the air.

Regardless, it was a bad situation to be in, the penalty killed any attempt at a comeback drive.

It just looks like the consistency and chemistry is lacking. Chez made his mistakes, but there are guys who nobody ever goes after who miss blocks, dont get open, drop balls, miss cutback lanes or dont just make a play sometimes. It goes all the way down the line from the Coord, the QB, to Danny Woodhead. They are largely inconsistent and someone is always blowing it in critical moments

  853. avatar Brian says:

The word of the day is brought to you by BS.

  854. avatar scjoe says:

I agree with most of the posts here, there is plenty of blame to go around, dropped INTs, penalties, defense not manning up to the task, play calling,, missed FGs, botched snaps, etc. But when you look deep into most losses this year, and last year as well for that matter, it comes down to shabby QB play HANDS DOWN!

  855. avatar Shamik says:

This just rankles me like nothing else. How can anyone possibly justify completely throwing away a season due to the inept play of a rookie QB when the team is otherwise solid? It makes no sense to me. Its ok if Stafford plays poorly, he’s on a horrendous team thats not going anywhere fast. All those picks are largely the result of constantly playing from behind due to such a porous defense. What’s our excuse!? The team should have handled this the way Cincinnati handled Palmer. Sit behind a veteran caretaker QB to learn how to play at NFL level properly while, still giving a solid team the chance to make the playoffs. Next year the kid can come in and really dominate, which is exactly what happened. Why didn’t we do this?? Was Ryan that arrogant to think that he could pull another Flacco here? With the Jets? Does anything ever work out for this team? What were they thinking….

  856. avatar tyrone says:

    need de for next year

  857. avatar scjoe says:

WOJF, couldn’t agree more. This team was built to win NOW, how do you do that with a rookie QB who simply can not get it done?

  858. avatar SackDance99 says:

Yeah, and just imagine even with all those INTs, Sanchez only lost 1 game for the Jets and that was the first Buffalo game. Sanchez’s INTs hurt only when they lead to points. In this game, only 3 points were scored due to Sanchez’s INTs and the entire 2nd half he played under control until the last INT, which was caused because he had to make something happen on 3rd and long with the clock winding down. The Jets have their franchise QBs. I know he’s not good for fantasy football, but he’s a rookie and he has gotten much better. The Jets miss 3 FGs and everyone blames the QB…unbelievable.

  859. avatar joey says:

  860. avatar reality jet fan says:

  861. avatar Shamik says:

Whats worse is that if Sanchez does eventually figure it all out, the window of opportunity will shut on this team and he’ll be stinking it up on a rebuilding team. We should have traded for a Campbell or taken a flyer on Leftwich or Garcia. Easily could have been 2-4 wins higher.

  862. avatar Dreamweaver says:

Cant blame mark for this. He certainly didnt help, but its not his FAULT.

I need Kellen Clemens GONE ASAP. along w/ Shotty

  863. avatar scjoe says:

Say what you want about Chad Pennington, but with him we make the playoff’s last year AND this year, there would not have been 40# INTs and mismanaged games like we see now.

  864. avatar joey says:

i bet if we fire schitty, sanchito or burrito will get better instantly

  865. avatar Shamik says:

No sackdance, Sanchez’s INTs hurt the team because they lead to a LACK of points and put a gassed defense right back on the field.

  866. avatar scjoe says:

Sackdance((, I hate to break it to you, but we lost by those three points, also the N.O. game was completely on MS

  867. avatar joey says:

even if pennington was here,he would still be doomed by this schitty calling the plays,is the owner and the gm blind or does he has a gay porno dvd on them 2?

  868. avatar Brian says:

4 losses at home to teams we can beat on paper but with no offense you can forget winning any game. I can see the poor strategy. Even with Pennington and Favre the offense stunk. Schithead has to go.

  869. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Well guys we have had veteran QB’s before, and the result hasnt been much better. In fact the guy we had last year is one of the best in league this year, but we’ll just sweep the fact that Schotty isnt his OC under the rug right?

You guys all want to win now, but the Jets have been playing musical QBs for the better part of a decade. At some point, you have to let a young guy take his lumps. If he struggles one year but comes back and gives you 10 good ones, isnt it worth it?

The team got fed up with constantly looking for a guy at the most important position on offense. Chez is not good enough this year to make the offense good enough to be a playoff team, but he wasnt supposed to have to do that, and at times has been forced to when OTHER areas of the team has let us down.

It does seem that he forces too many balls that were picked when needed to throw, but it also seemed that way when Chad and Brett played for Schotty.

It just sucks that we completely dominated the Falcons today and lost because we shot ourselves in the foot and asked our defense to do WAY too much

  870. avatar mike s. says:

The kid’s krappy play today was not unusual. The kid played like krap in 4 of the 7 losses.

Loss to New Orleans – 138 yards, 52% comp, 3 INTs, 27 QB rating, and 0 TDs
Loss to Buffalo – 119 yards, 35% comp, 5 INTs, 8 (yes 8) QB rating, and 0 TDs
Loss to New England – 136 yards, 38% comp, 4 INTs, 37 QB rating, and 1 TD
Loss to Atlanta – 226 yards, 56% comp, 3 INTs, 50 QB rating, and 1 TD

Just imagine how bad the kid would look if the running attack and defense were not at the top of the league.

  871. avatar SackDance99 says:

This team was built to competitive, but not win now. Rex needed to install his defense and the Jets drafted a rookie QB. With that much upheaval, most pundits predicted 6 or fewer wins. The defense came together quickly, but it still lacks the knockout punch of a bona fide pass rusher at the WILL. The Jets’ offense doesn’t have enough playmakers with Leon out. IMO, they desperately need a slot WR. This team has faced a tougher schedule than last year and may have the same or, at worst, just 2 more losses despite the transition. The Jets have a bright future, no matter how much this loss sucked.

  872. avatar mike s. says:

    Thanks, Eddie.

  873. avatar scjoe says:

I respect the optimism of some of you, but I don’t see the Jets winning with this QB tandem they have, Sanchez OR Clemens. This year, next year or any year.

  874. avatar mike s. says:

Future looks bright if the kid develops his game for 2010.
But the present is damn painful to watch.

  875. avatar AKA...Drew says:

Sanchez didnt play well but he didnt cost us the game. He made a bunch of big 3rd down throws and his picks meant nothing…He brought us into FG territory 3 times and all three times we blew it….Thats 9 points in a close game folks

Mike Westoff is the best in the busimess who just happen to cost us 2 games this season

  876. avatar AKA...Drew says:

The loss sucked but I am very encouraged by what I have seen this year.

  877. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Complete BULLS#!T Shamik,

The mistakes were there, but he left that team in position to score MORE THAN ENOUGH points to win the game. I just watched every drive throughout the whole game.

You are looking for someone to blame, and you are blaming the wrong guy.

The picks didnt help but they were not the reason we lost game, not even close

  878. avatar joey says:

someone mentinoed before they wanted a big name coach here when mangina was fired, well let me tell you something, that will never happen cuz the gm who happens to be a lawyer by trade and knows jack about football is power hungry and will not give up control to someone else,i like rex,i mean look we have the best defense in football, but when you are hired and told, hey this schitty dude will be calling the plays on offense, alreay you been stripped of your powers as a coach, and there isnt much you can do about it,even when you are watching your team constantly getting outsmarted on offense you have to do what the idiot gm says cuz he is the big bad wolf in this cursed organization.

  879. avatar scjoe says:

sackdance, some valid points, but take a look at some of the teams we lost to this year, especially at home, Mia, Buff, Jak and now Atl. Those are not top flight NFL teams. I believe at least 2 of those could have been wins with better QB play, agree?

  880. avatar Brian says:

    Santa Claus: Ho ho ho
Brian Schottenheimer: Hi Santa, am I getting a head coaching job?
Santa Claus: No no no. You are getting a lump of coal for screwing the Jets.

  881. avatar kd bart says:

Remember the days, when a QB wouldn’t see the field the first couple of years of his career and would learn the position at the pro level? Now we expect them to be superstars from the get go. Flacco and Ryan spoiled people last season. BTW, Ryan has regressed this season. He wasn’t exactly stellar out there today. The Jets dropped at least 3 INTs. I expected Sanchez to struggle at times this season and he has done more than that but I also expect him to get better with experience. Plenty of you would’ve been looking to dump Peyton Manning during his rookie season when he threw 28 interceptions and has a QB rating of 71.

  882. avatar Shamik says:

The INTs weren’t the reason? They prematurely brought the defense back onto the field when they should have been resting up to make a stop on that last drive.

  883. avatar scjoe says:

Drew and Eddie DiGio, what you are failing to take into consideration is what could have been had he not thrown those three INTs, not to mention the sacks where he should have gotten rid of the ball, don’t you think that with NO INTs it may have equated to at least three more points?

  884. avatar Harvlis says:

    Sack,

Sanchez had some good plays today, I agree. I do not put it all on him. He has to stop forcing the ball but, he will learn.

On the other hand, you are wrong when you say that his INT’s don’t hurt us, just because the other team didn’t score. When he throws a pick, we lose control of the ball and field position. The pick stops a drive, where we could potentially score. Instead of us scoring, the other team gains the opportunity to score. It puts pressure on the defense, which is what happened all game long. It depresses the other offensive players who are playing their hearts out. There are no positive aspects to us throwing an INT.

The Jets have a bright future, no matter how much this loss sucked.

Well said and pretty much spot on.

  887. avatar NamVetJet says:

I too think we are very close to being a dominant team. Our loses have for the most part have been very close games. There are parts of our team that play well some of the time. What we need is consistancy in all parts of the team, offense, defense and special teams. Each have had lapses this year. We lost several games games when the defense was not able to stop a team at the end of a game. Special teams lost the game for us today and the Miami game allowing the two Ginn scores. The offense probably the weakest link needs the most work and a QB making better decisions. I’ll the Schotty debate to greater minds then mine. We have the pieces—they need to be put together—that is Rex’s job.

  893. avatar scjoe says:

NamVetJet, you are not a dominant team until you start to win those close games, especially against the teams that you are “supposed to beat” we all know that the Jets fail miserably over the years in that arena, especially at home.

  894. avatar JayM says:

Just curious, anyone think that Rex will get rid of Schotty if he doesn’t get a head coaching job somewhere? I can’t believe Rex likes the cute plays that don’t work. There are plenty of QB friendly plays that Scotty never uses, screen pass, come back routes, slant plays that gain yards.

  895. avatar Harvlis says:

    Jack,

The reason we had to attempt three field goals is because our drives bogged down each time.

You didn’t comment on the brilliant thrid down and goal play call, where we put all of our players on the o-line and ran the ball right into their backs — forcing us to try another FG. Great play call. If we would have scored, we would have won.

Your man-love for Schottenheimer is admirable. Meanwhile, you haven’t told us why he is a brilliant coach. You, him, and Mangini can go over to the Browns. None of you know how to play football. You would fit in well there.

Number of over 80 QB rating games and won-loss record for these rookie starters:

    Peyton-5, 3-13
    Eli-2, 1-6
    Cutler-4, 2-3
    Big Ben-10, 13-0
    Aikman-4, 0-11
    Flacco-9, 11-5
    Ryan-10, 11-5

    Sanchez-7, 6-7

So, Sanchez is somewhere in the middle. Most rookie QBs have losing records (and Sanchez still has a chance to be have a winning record) and most rookie QBs don’t have “good” games. Today, he didn’t have the running game and he had to win the game. Like I said, the only difference between Ryan and Sanchez today was Ryan’s defense made all the INTs that they could have made and Sanchez’s defense made none of the INTs that they could have.

  897. avatar NamVetJet says:

scjoe–that is why I said close to a dominant team. And yes we have a tough history to live with as Jet fans—and my wife will tell you I get as frustrated as anyone watching these games—-but I believe we got closer this year to being a playoff caliber team.

  898. avatar scjoe says:

Well, I have been bleeding green right from the beginning, and I will till the day I die I guess, but I wish there were someone who could explain to me how this team can consistently give away games like this year after year after year. And many of those times to much more inferior teams. Joe Willie curse anyone? Nah, no such thing, right?

  901. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Harvlis-

So I see you are just going to admit the obvious, Schott’s play calling put the team in a position to win by doing exactly what you, Rex, and many here have been advocating, be conservative and because the special teams screwed up 3 times you are now going to blame the same person you have been blaming since the pre-season.

You get 100% for being consistent and 0% for honesty or knowing what you are talking about.

Save yourself more embarrassment. Go over to the Jets site and watch the post game interviews and see who gets and takes the blame.

Hint, it’s not the offensive coordinator.

  902. avatar SackDance99 says:

    Harvlis-

“All game long?” Sanchez threw 3 INTs. The last was a desperation play. There were 2 others and, like I said, only the first 1 hurt–it cost an FG. But, the second one ended up with the Falcons punting and Sanchez ran a very nice 2 minute drill that should’ve ended with a FG. Instead, Feely missed a 38 yarder that he had plenty of leg on. Yes, INTs hurt and they cost his team scoring opportunities, but the Jets missed 3 FGs.

  903. avatar tyrone says:

    Harvlis-

BTW, I thought the Jets should’ve run the ball on the play Sanchez was sacked….why not set up for a chip shot FG instead of risk a sack, turnover or INT. Schotty called a mediocre game. Great use of the Wildcat, but curious calls in the passing game.

  907. avatar tyrone says:

Tyrone, its psychology. Its called learned helplessness. All the Jets fans know is that no matter what we do, things just dont work out. Ergo, once the team gets down into a hole or doesnt come out firing on all cylinders, we know we’re done. Only the Browns and until recently, the Saints and Cardinals fans know our pain.

  910. avatar scjoe says:

  911. avatar Harvlis says:

If you guys watch football long enough, you will learn that if you have to keep kicking field goals, instead of getting the ball into the endzone — you will eventually lose the game.

Yes, missing those three FG’s helped lose us the game but, if any of those drives ended in a TD, it was game over. You have to face it — our offense has been horrible, all season long. Any offense will have it’s moments but, overall we have been an underachieving offense. The person responsible for the offense is the OC. The players play the game but, the OC puts them in positions to get things accomplished. In that regard, Schottenheimer gets failing grades.

    Sack,

I agreed with you. I don’t blame Sanchez. You know who I blame.

  912. avatar scjoe says:

  913. avatar scjoe says:

    >>If you guys watch football long enough, you will learn that if you have to keep kicking field goals, instead of getting the ball into the endzone — you will eventually lose the game.

    Well gee thanks dad.

Maybe you ought to rethink that when you have a defense, not an offense or a special teams that gives up way to many points on turnovers and runbacks, that gives up about 12 points a game. And did I mention the most raw of rookie QBs?

Have you ever watched the Ravens? Did you understand how they got to the Superbowl with an O that was at best anemic? What the hell did you think Ryan was going to bring to the Jets?

All of your analysis ignores the fact that we would have won today had we made a couple field goals that were completely make able and we would have won against the Bills in the first game had we not had a holding penalty that took us out of scoring position. We have pooched more than a couple games this year because of bonehead plays that have nothing to do with coacing.

If you thought the Jets were going to win with Sanchez and all his well know rawness this year by being an offensive juggernaut you know nothing about this game. We were built to score 16 or 17 points a game and give up 12 or 14.

The defense has more than done it’s job. The offense and the special teams have not. The offense has turned the ball over too many damn times and that is on Sanchez. He has had many options and he chose to try and win games by being a hero instead of playing within the system. Nobody coaches to throw into double coverage. Nobody coaches to take a strip sack in the end zone and nobody coaches to give up 2 100 yard returns in a game and miss chip shot field goals.

This is not about the coaching. The players have not done their jobs. Period.

Stop acting like a typical know nothing insulting dope if you expect to be taken seriously.

  917. avatar Harvlis says:

“Maybe you ought to rethink that when you have a defense, not an offense or a special teams that gives up way to many points on turnovers and runbacks, that gives up about 12 points a game. And did I mention the most raw of rookie QBs?”

HUH? As your father, I must tell you, you can’t cut school anymore son. You are destroying the King’s english.

As for Rex and the Ravens. Rex has said it over and over — this is Schottenheimer’s offense and he barely gets involved. Up until a few weeks ago, he had never entered an offensive meeting. Things got so bad, with Sanchez, that Rex had to pull in the reins. Therefore, you wasted that paragraph. With a rookie QB, Schottenheimer should be keeping him out of situations where he can throw the ball away. This doesn’t mean that the offense should be stagnant. It means that the play-calling has to keep Sanchez out of situations where he has to force the ball.

Also, the word is makeable or makable, son.

  919. avatar jon in bk says:

3 biggest reasons the jets lost:

1- Special teams. Simple- if they convert on 2/3 should-make fg’s, jets win easy.

2- Inability to get running game going- you can blame Schott for “abandoning” the run game, but nothing much was there and he tried to stick w/ it. Your line has to get a push on that 3rd and goal against a team w/ nothing to play for.

3- Sanchez. The reason he isn’t #2 is b/c he actually did make some plays. The TD to Edwards, some big 3rd down conversions, and a couple of prudent throways. The 1st 2 picks were inexecusable, though, and he just makes it too hard on the D with those.

Really pleased w/ Rhodes’ performance + Braylon showing something. Hopefully those guys are here for years to come.

  920. avatar Harvlis says:

    WOJF,

The OC’s play calls have a direct effect on the play of the O-line. If Schottenheimer calls a play that includes an obvious formation, the other team has a good idea of what is coming and the O-line is at a major disadvantage. A good OC keeps the defense on it’s toes. As a result, the O-line can tee off on the defense.

The weather didn’t help today’s play selection but, we should never be this obvious. One problem is, we didn’t use the short passing game, as Matt had mentioned earlier. There were plenty of mistakes made by players today but, the play calling was the ultimate cause of many drives falling short.

  921. avatar Harvlis says:

    scjoe,

The players have to do their jobs, in order for the offense to have success but, their jobs are dictated by the play calls. As I previously mentioned, if the formations are obvious, the offense is at a disadvantage because, the defense has a good idea of what is coming. That happened all day, in the running game. The Falcon defense hit our RB’s behind the line of scrimmage, multiple times. That is because the formations, and the plays, were obvious. The OC has to keep the defense on it’s toes. It comes from mixing up the plays, deceptive formations, controlling the pace of the game, etc… That wasn’t there today and, unfortunately, it usually isn’t.

  922. avatar AKA Jack says:

As for Rex and the Ravens. Rex has said it over and over — this is Schottenheimer’s offense and he barely gets involved.

Gee dad, I tried to get you to stop making a dope out of yourself but you continue to lead into left hooks.

Ryan is the head coach. He is in charge of all phases of the team. That means he is in charge of the offense, too. Got that? Schott may call the plays but Ryan dictates the overall concept. How is this hard for you to understand? How can I make it more clear? I would draw you pictures but this is a website.

Did you go the Jets site and hear the postgame interviews? Of course you didn’t. You should though. You might learn something. For example, you would learn that Ryan puts the loss squarely on the missed field goals. The same field goals that won the game last week.

I’m not even going to try and help you anymore. Keep being a dope and blaming this on the OC and ignoring how many points were left on the field by players.

If you want to continue pissing your pants then have at it.

  923. avatar Harvlis says:

    Jack,

We do agree on one point – Rex should have taken control of the offense, as well as the defense, from day one. First, he should have watched film of the offense under Schottenheimer. If he did, he might have opted for getting rid of Schottenheimer and bringing in his own OC. That was definitely his first mistake. After that, he should have never let Schottenheimer have full control of the offense, which he did. Unfortunately, it took Rex most of the season to realize that he had to step in, which he was forced to do, a number of games back. Rex is a great defensive coach who has to learn how to be a head coach. He will. His first move, after this season, will be to replace Schottenheimer.

No one is denying that missing the field goals killed our chances for winning the game. When you learn about football, you will realize that, on a bad weather day, you want to score TD’s not rely on FG’s. Schottenheimers play calling led to three FG’s. That’s the point, son.

  924. avatar jetsrdone says:

    2. Riddle me this, Batman: How could the Jets run 33 offensive plays in Falcons territory and not score any points? It’s game like this that make me wonder about O.C. Brian Schottenheimer. A first-and-10 pass into the wind, resulting in an interception? That wasn’t a smart call.
